This was one of, if not the best maple sugar shacks in New England. Unfortunately it is gone now after the death of the original owner a couple years ago. Many fond memories here over the years. Will be missed. read more

Great place for an old fashioned breakfast served with unlimited Pure maple syrup. French toast was excellent, sausage was good.... the only issue I had was with the bacon. The bacon was almost non existent, it was so thin it blew off my plate when I moved my napkin. Nothing fancy here, but that's what makes it rustic. read more

If you're lucky enough to be in the area during maple syrup season (~mid-February through late March) on a weekend, detour through the woods and grab pancakes with fresh syrup at The Red Bucket. The syrup is the star of the show so it doesn't really matter what you order, but I will say that their specials tend to be delicious (ex: carrot cake pancakes with a maple cream cheese spread), as is the Almond French Toast. *PRO TIP* - you will likely wait a long time for a table if you arrive later in the morning (the waiting area is right next to the boiler so that's kind of cool anyway) so your best bet is to get there slightly before they formally open for service at 8AM. read more

Love this place. We have been to many sugar shacks in our area. Red Bucket is very consistent in the quality of their food. Atmosphere is great. Staff is very attentive. The pancake specials are always good. The last reviewer was slightly put off by disposable dinnerware. Being in the country, I'm sure they are on a well and a private septic system, neither is capable of supporting a commercial dishwashing procedure. I usually explain this to first time visitors we bring. read more

Opening day at the Red Bucket was so nice as always.. very friendly greeting from the owner and her staff... we were the first ones there.. The special today was pumpkin pancakes... they were made to perfection. The homefries were a bit the soft side but were yummy. The woodstove was warm and toasty and the ambiance was rustic.. We enjoyed our breakfast in the woods and stopped by the store to purchase some maple sugar candy and powdered maple sugar topping on our way out after a friendly chat with the lady running the register. read more

We have gone to the Red Bucket Sugar Shack for years and are probably not returning. We arrived within 30min of them opening but waited 1 hr to be seated. After we ordered, it took 1hr to get our pancakes. The same situation occurred last year but we went again to give them another chance in case it was an off day. Their maple syrup is good (which is why I gave them 2 stars) but it is not worth the wait for breakfast. read more

Loved the food and the service! I ordered the French toast, eggs and sausage combo. It came with a pretty large serving of warm delicious maple syrup. You can also see them making h maple syrup as soon as you walk into the building and you can see all their lines if you sit by the window. The only reason I'm giving it four stars and not five is that I just don't understand the usage of disposable plates, cups and cutlery. It is pretty disappointing in this day and age and also takes away from the very cool wooden decor. read more

Very aesthetically pleasing establishment. Very good seasoned popcorn. HOWEVER: Waited for a table for an hour (which is understandable on a Saturday morning) But then waited over an hour once we were seated without anyone coming to our table to bring us water or inform us there was a "problem with the grill"--which we were only told about a few minutes before our food came. Our meal consisted of the lowest quality ingredients (other than the syrup) money can buy. Paper thin microwaved bacon, very bland poorly cooked food, bisquick pancakes. Everything was served with plastic and styrofoam products (plastic cups, plates, and utensils). What a WASTE. We asked for a discount since we had been waiting for over two hours and the food was awful (although we didn't explicitly say that to them). The manager came out and straight up refused to give any sort of discount or certificate or anything. We spoke to her in as non-adversarial a way as possible, trying to be level-headed and polite. We simply wanted to give our honest feed back so that it could be avoided in the future. We told her we would have liked to have been informed that the grill wasn't working and our food would take longer... but she stood over us with her arms crossed as if we had failed to do her a service and spoke to us in an extremely rude and defensive way. Apparently she's been doing this for "39 years!" and couldn't possibly do any wrong. Needless to say we were very disappointed. It's establishments like this that profit off the feeding of poison to the uneducated and the unconscious through their own greediness and ignorance. read more

The Red Bucket has been my go to sugar house for many years, and I even had the good fortune to live within walking distance for a few seasons (thankfully when my metabolism was faster!). Now, it's almost an hour trek for us from the opposite end of the Pioneer Valley, but we go at least twice every spring. The special pancakes change often, and are always to die for, s'mores and rainforest are some faves. The almond French toast is also amazing. Go later in the afternoon, and you rarely have to wait. Otherwise, it can be upwards of an hour in line. But totally worth it! read more

We made the annual pilgrimage up to the Red Bucket with all of our friends a month ago. It's pretty far and out of the way of the urban and suburban communities in the area so be prepared for a trek. When you go there, you have to try the maple milkshake and the maple donut! They're ridiculously good! The food is decent, although I really don't like their home fries. Yes, they use plastic silverware and Styrofoam cups but they're in the middle of nowhere and they don't have public wastewater treatment. They are also open for a VERY limited time of the year, so it should go without saying that it would be extremely cost prohibitive for them to have high end commercial equipment like a standard restaurant. As long as your expectations are to enjoy fresh and delicious maple syrup, eating decent food, and to enjoy a nice lesurely drive through the country, then your experience will be worthwhile and enjoyable. If you want a typical breakfast diner experience, don't waste your time making the trek. read more
