Our family was enjoying a Sunday afternoon outing in Temecula. We had done some wine tasting around the valley and were looking to cap the day with a nice afternoon meal. We really wanted something in the spirit of the wine country setting (not fast food or some chain restaurant) so this place seemed to fit the bill. We found the food choices to be interesting and varied. We had a pasta dish, pizza, soup and salad, sandwiches and "pork cheeks". Everyone in our family thought the food was excellent. The service was low key (maybe a little too laid back) but not pushy or high pressure at all. It started to get a little chilly toward the end and because we were in what appeared to be an "additional" area, it did not have the space heaters that the "original" covered patio had. Total bill for us ended up just a little over $20 per person without any alcohol (we were wine tasted out...) All in all, we would say a solid 4 out of 5. Cheers! read more

I have dined at Ponte over the years & have enjoyed the ambiance and usually the food. I've had under-cooked salmon and pretty good wine. But the atmosphere is so pleasant. that I thought I'd try again. I invited some friends to have lunch there yesterday. I was shocked to see how much the menu prices have gone up. I had one appetizer, the crab stack ($21) and one glass of Malbec ($14.50). That, plus tip makes for an expensive lunch. They have become over-rated and over-priced. The crab stack was 'meh'; the wine was decent. It seems that they are using L.A. prices in Temecula to pay for their new property next door. I won't be going back or recommending it. read more

We're tied to this place. We got married here on this day seven years ago. It's always great to come back and enjoy the great wine with my beutiful wife. However, the food is a little week. I've come here sooooo many times, that I can't even count them. But I was so disappointed in my visit yesterday! The food was only "so-so", it's been amazing in the past (I haven't been here in about 1 year). But it took them over 1 hour to bring me a Sangria (which is one of the reasons that I like to go there!) because they ran out.... at 3:30 on a Friday. They didn't have any back up made. They served me the sludge from the bottom "on the house" in case I actually liked it, which I didn't. The only reason I rated it 4 stars is because it is pretty expensive. $60 for a lunch for 2 is a little pricey. However, it's a nice treat once in a while. my wife and I dinned her on a Saturday night. All of the seating is outside among the garden. We were worried it would be too cold, but they had us in a sheltered spot with a heater. We shared their chardonnay which was great as well as their bread/cheese plate and the mussels. The mussels were spicy with cilantro and a red sauce which was delicious. We soaked up all of the broth with the bread and couldn't get enough. The main course was prawns and broccolini. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. If your looking to vist Temecula wine country dont miss out on Ponte Winery. They have the most amazing wines and the Smokehouse Resturant is to die for. The food is amazing and the staff is attentive. The outside patio dining is amazing surrounded by grape vines. I would recommend the Smokehouse for any special occation or for a nice relaxing lunch. Had lunch here this past Sunday. We went a little later (3:00ish) and didn't have to wait but a few minutes even though you could tell it had been busy. Setting was very nice, food was delicious, and service was very friendly. We had the pear pizza, country salad, and crab cakes. We split each, which was plenty for 2 people. Total was $48. Only had water since we had been wine tasting earlier. Some have said that the food was expensive, but coming from LA I didn't think that it was that bad, and worth it for the quality and the setting. read more

The garden area of the restaurant was absolutely gorgeous and complimented the al fresco meal. I ordered the mushroom soup and harvest salad. Both dishes were delicious! If you love hazelnuts, then this is the salad for you! Lots of hazel nuts in the salad as well as the main flavor in the dressing. The mushroom soup was rich and creamy with crispy slices of mushrooms on top of the soup (as a garnish). Also of note, the complimentary bread can be addicting so beware! read more

What a great experience. Our waiter, Shawn, was fantastic. Perfect service. He recommended the corn soup and it was the best I've ever had. Not heavy like a chowder. The tiny green onions (which I generally don't care for) were almost sweet, and the dish was perfectly balanced. The bass in parchment was also great. Moist but firm, and the fresh tomatoes and capers added to the taste but didn't overwhelm the dish. My friends ordered the beet salad, salmon and pasta and everything was great. We came for lunch this past Sunday afternoon and it was wonderful. Beautiful location, great patio with heaters on a very cold day! The breakdown: The service was good, a little too persistent and pushy maybe. When someone orders one of their appetizer plates, let them have the chance to enjoy it before pushing for the next order and then having food arrive on top of each other. The wait staff seemed a little young and green, but still very nice and helpful. The bread that is served with the meal is really good, however it is served cold (like really cold) and would be much better if served warm. We started with the bread and jam appetizer (3 cheese option). It was REALLY good and huge. Note the size if ordering more food! 3 different cheese slices, some ciabatta bread, some crisp lavash, a pistachio cranberry bread and one other fruity holiday bread. Served with fresh honey comb, pumpkin butter and then a spiced chardonnay jam. Also a variety of dried fruits, nuts, olives and baby pickles! This could be a meal in itself. Caesar salad was just kind of meh. Shredded romaine with a very light drizzle of dressing. So light it almost tasted like wet lettuce with lemon juice and parmesan cheese only. Croutons were good though! I had the butternut squash ravioli with apples, pancetta and a brown butter cream sauce. I have had lots of raviolis and these rank up there at the top with others that I have had. One more on the plate would have been good as the portion is pretty small. But oh man..... good stuff here! My wife had the cherry and goat cheese stuffed chicken breast and she loved it. I had a bite too and it was really good. Moist chicken breast with a light sauce, served over some yummy mashed potatoes then on top of some fresh spinach. We decided to pass on the dessert as we were still nibbling at the appetizer. We are members there and I have to say, we was there as a table of 4 and was very unsatisfied!!!! We had wine at the members section, then went to have food at the outside restaurant. We ordered appetizers, which showed up pretty fast and at a decent pace, but our main meal took another hour to get to us, after we had already finished the appetizers!!!! We watched numerous other tables get served. Even those whom sat down, after us. We ordered the vegetarian falafel and 3 meatloaf sandwiches. I talked to 1 of the managers, I believe the name to be Deborah. She went to find out what was going on, but she never came back to give us a response!!!!! 9 minutes later we got our food, which wasn't note wordy. I would of given a 1 star, but I don't feel the people there are worth that low of a number. This review got a 2, but that is only thanks to Cindy and Cassidy whom was awesome during our wine tasting. They did try to offer free desert but were declined, so they took off the price for the 2 beers we had. Thank you!!!! read more

Food was so-so and overpriced, though the ambience and service were excellent. Sangria was excellent. Reservations highly recommended. We had the eggplant pasta and didn't really like it (eggplant wasn't baked long enough, so it was hard to chew), but the waitress immediately offered to switch it for something else. Also had the lamb pizza, which was only ok and hard to find much lamb. Everything on the menu was around $15 for lunch, so a bit overpriced for what you get (e.g. sandwhiches or plain pizzas, pasta with chicken breast). The sangria was very good, and a carafe yields 6-8 glasses so is a good deal. The waitress was very accomodating. The ambience was excellent: we were seated outside next to the rose garden, with a roof blocking the sun and heaters to keep us warm. Definitely a nice place to sit and hang out if you don't mind paying for it. Reservations are a must -- wait was 1.5 hours without. read more

I may be bias since I did get married at the winery where this particular restaurant is, but I have never had a bad meal here. The food is always fresh and interesting. They change the menu with the seasons and I enjoy that. The atmosphere is romantic and relaxing as well. The service has always been prompt and well informed. I really enjoy dinning at the Smokehouse and I will be going back over and over again. Oh yeah... and did I mention that the wine is to die for??? We had a variety of dishes and they were all presented really well and tasted great. The salad with the tenderloin slices was really good but a tad too salty. The tenderloin was great. The food does not disappoint. The mussels were excellent but the broth was so good we asked for 4 soup spoons! Flank steak is a winner Pesto cannoli is a unique approach and something I've never experienced. Really liked it. The calamari appetizer provided a generous portion and we left nothing to waste.
