Since it's located off a beaten path (in Dunedin), it is able to deliver a high-end experience (beautifully prepared dishes and professional services) at an economical price ($30/person for 3-course meal). The restaurant changes the menus based on daily fresh ingredients. Among the menu items we ordered, our entrees and dessert are extremely outstanding. The short rib was very juicy and tender. It was beautifully plated on top carrot puree and topped with onions. The pasta dish is unbelievably light, beautiful and lovely. For desserts, we were extremely adventurous to try their "triple cream" dessert; which was made using cheese. My first time yet extremely impressed. Had a good dinner at the bar last night. Chef Jason and sous chef Tom were very personable. Had good time chatting with them and other customers. Started out with the sparkling rose which was very good. The Cabernet was average. Appertizers: gnocchi (a little too rich for me), and scallops (very fresh). Entrées: pork (perfectly cooked and the best dish in my opinion; the accompanying veggies can be better) and short rib (large portion, very tender). This restaurant is literally like a sanctuary for me. I've been 3 separate times and it's worth nothing the menu is always changing daily. I'd recommend checking their Instagram to see what they're serving that day. The seasoning is always spot on- never over salted or under salted. The execution of their dishes is always meticulous and thought out and whatever protein you choose, I guarantee it'll be cooked to immaculate perfection. Truly chef driven food. Even if I'm full (I'm talking 5-6 dishes split between 2 people) I've never felt bogged down or bloated, THATS how you know they're doing it correctly. To say, "soul food" feels a bit cliche and yet every time I leave I feel utterly satisfied and elated, already looking forward to my next visit. The charcuterie and cheese platter with warm olives was the best part, really good. The pasta was also really good. The only thing I did not like was the raw scallop dish. I love scallops but this had a lot of really coarse salt on it that just over powered it. It's definitely a good deal to split with a friend. So much food! We were still full but still had to order desert. The deserts were really good and unique as well. This is a small restaurant so seating is limited. Definitely adding this to my top favorites! Where do I begin? It's a husband and wife team and they make you feel like you're visiting their home. However, what your being served is not a casserole! I honestly really loved the garlic butter it came with, even more then the harissa. My husband had the quail and was very enthusiastic about his enjoyment of this dish. The asparagus with prosciutto had water crest on it and wow, that flavor combination worked so well. For our main course, we had the beef tenderloin and bucatini. Both were very enjoyable. The bucatini was perfectly Al dente. The mushrooms served along side my beef tenderloin were such a variety and matched so well with the dish! Then came dessert! Both of the dishes we had were so amazing, we actually considered ordering the third dessert option as well just to experience it! But, ultimately by this point, we were way too full. The interior design is very clean and modern with a home feel. They have art work on the wall all of which is available for sale, should you be in the market. The service was spectacular!!! They were kind and fast!! With only 3 people working, I was floored at how quickly each meal was prepared and served. I was also incredibly impressed at how strict each team member was about informing patrons about the mask policy & really following through. I saw the great reviews on Yelp and kept driving past it day after day after day. Today I finally stopped. And I will be back! Menu changes regularly. Tonight's menu I had an amazing cold cauliflower soup with lime and shrimp, and a glass of rose - both amazingly refreshing after the walk I had just prior. Dinner was two starters /sides. Considering I'm late to the mushroom game, I was in love with the mushrooms cooked in foie gras - decadent but not overly so - and the savory bread pudding with garlic jus and mushrooms was also good (although the bread pudding was a bit more dense than I prefer). For dessert I had the Cheddar. Panna. Cotta. With apples. A. M. A. Z. I. N. G. I don't do desserts typically. But this hit the spot with a nice balance of mildly sweet and savory in a nice fall theme. They had a small but nice wine selection with great recommended pairings. After following this restaurant on Instagram for months and drooling over the amazing photos my husband and I finally made the trip out last night. We were not disappointed! In case you are trying to call them to get more information or make a reservation ... they don't have a phone number nor do they take reservations. They are responsive via email though. There menu is split into three sections: Beginnings, Middle, and Ends. Our waitress recommended that we pick a dish from each and that is what we did. Keep in mind that The Restorative changes there menu daily. Beginnings: We started with a Peach Caprese Salad with Pistachio Pesto which was so light and refreshing. Perfect for the hot summer days here in Florida. We also tried the risotto which had the perfect tomato base and a delicious Parmesan crisp on top. Middle: My husband got the cornish hen which he loved since the meat was so moist and just fell off the bone. It came with some collard greens and carror with a smoked jus. He really enjoyed the dish. I had the spaghetti with shrimp in a garlic butter sauce. It was good but i was a little disappointed. The pasta didn't seem homemade and I thought the sauce could have used a little more flavor. End: For dessert we tried the blue cheese kiwi pound cake dessert which was a brilliant way to serve a fruit/cheese/nut option. For those looking for a dessert on the less sweet side this is perfect! We also tried the sweet corn cake with coconut custard which was equally delicious. The coconut custard was my favorite component. All in all my husband and I would return. To be honest I've driven by the spot a couple times but would never had guess it was a restaurant...I would have pegged it for more of a café (light breakfast, etc.). To my surprise this is a hidden gem in the Dunedin area (newly opened about 10 months by a local extremely talented Chef) Owners Erin "Cricket" Plunkett, 26, and Jason Borajkiewicz, 34 have certainly captured the essence of Modern European cooking. The dishes are not really large but very fresh, delicious and well prepared. For a party of 2 you can drop about $75 -$100 - but believe me its quality over quantity. You can taste the love and attention to detail in each dish. The menu changes 2 to 3 times a week to allow for fresh and creative dishes. So the menu is short in my book is a good sign because that allows for everything to be fresh. And they have the flexibility to make frequent changes. We should all be mindful of the restaurants offering pages of dishes and what are we really receiving...hhhmmm how fresh, frozen, in microwavable portions are we paying for. (Message...LOL) :) The bathroom is very very clean, the interior of the restaurant was artful and again very clean.  I had the wagyu beef cheek for 2, roasted vegetables, thyme jus...and it was yummilicious it is the pic in my check-in photo - when I say the favorites were very tasty and tender you can cut with your fork or butter knife. The desserts in my book can be bigger for sure. I had the basil semifreddo, lemon curd, strawberry, candied ginger. My husband & I had dinner at The Restorative located at 420 Patricia Ave., Dunedin, FL 34698. It has been a few years since we have dined there and I was looking forward to going. Our server was Rachael and although she was ok, she simply does not have the hospitality personality for a food server in that type of establishment. She appears as if she is petrified of people, very soft spoken, no eye contact, no smile, coy and shy. She was wearing a tee shirt & wrinkled pants. We ordered our dinner and the Naan bread was served rather cold, not hot like it use to be served. Our truffle ziti was delicious, however b/t my husband and I we were lucky if we got two bites each out of it due to the baby bite size portion. I ordered the halibut meunière which was a rich, tangy savory French sauce and it was delicious. Again, very small plate for a whopping $49.00 and my husband ordered the Wagyu sirloin with 4 very small sizes of sirloin for $46.00. Seriously, you almost need a magnifying glass to see your food which is an insult for the exorbitant prices they charge. I understand restaurants will capitalize on a higher profit margin for serving smaller portions and using smaller plates. It would be nice if they were more reasonably priced. Also, even though it's a fine dining restaurant. While we were there, a couple walked in, sat at the bar and the guy was wearing a dirty baseball cap, ragged old shirt & shorts and flip flops. He had the grosses ostrich looking feet which was not pleasant to see while eating my meal. Another couple walked in and it was the complete opposite, the man was dressed in a suit & his wife in a pretty summer dress. The place is located in a run down strip mall with sketchy people in the parking lot. We left there and decided it's too over rated and over priced. Excellent dining experience from beginning to end. Highly recommend. Update: We returned for a second visit just last night and it seems it somehow got even even better since our first visit! I remembered to take some pictures this time. Their menu changes all the time, but these were our selections last night (Parmesan panna cotta, tartine, and veal bolognese.) Come here right now! What a quiet, unassuming, tucked away little gem of a find. I am long gone and continue to be intrigued. If you are on Clearwater Beach, make the effort to come over to Dunedin and experience this. It isn't the standard beach fare that you'll pay the same price for and it will be a memorable food experience. Yelp brought us here - we are on spring break with the kids and left them at home with the grandparents for a long overdue Valentines dinner. This place appeared to be right up our alley. Not a soul in the place at 5:30 on Thursday which is a crying shame (although I overheard them talking about being packed at this time the night before). Know that the menu changes frequently; that said, here's our night: We started with spring pea risotto as well as beef short ribs, and seriously considered ending with that course again after working our way through the rest of the menu. The risotto was excellent, I might have enjoyed a few more pickled onions but otherwise, wow. The onion jam on the tender short ribs and foie gras potatoes - a fork fight ensued for the last bit. Next were the bacon meatballs and polenta, with just a hint of smoke and a bright pomodoro sauce. We also tried the pasta with mushrooms and leeks; this was a surprise to me and a welcome one. Not heavy and the flavor was so good- carmelized and Unami. Yum!! Dessert was a black pepper pound cake - you'll find this nowhere else- with a balance of savory and sweet when blue cheese meets honey. We also had the cocoa nib mousse with chocolate ganache. While really good, I didn't get the coffee or hazelnut that was also in the description. I am truly nit picking with that. We've been wanting to visit this chef-owned restaurant for a long time however prior to the new year they only opened Monday-Friday til 9pm and since we live a bit far from them, the drive over for a just a short time dining didn't make sense. Luckily for all of us they now have added Saturday hours! We made reservations for an early dinner on Saturday and were seated right away when we arrived. I definitely recommend you make reservations in advanced as they're a pretty small restaurant with only 4-5 tables and ~4-6 spots at the bar area. The restaurant is located in a non-descript shopping plaza in Dunedin with plenty of parking spots available. Their food menu is rather small with ~4-5 small dishes/appetizers, ~3 entrees and ~3 desserts to choose from. I love this idea of a small menu as it allows the chefs to focus on a few dishes and use the freshest ingredients available. They post their constantly changing menu on Instagram daily so you know what they'll be serving ahead of time. Even though they say they change their dishes daily (or at least 2-3 times per week) I saw pretty much a similar menu posted every day of the week with just a few changes. Their wine menu is also rather small but they do venture out and offer a few European and South American wines. They also post on Instagram if they have any cancellations for the day in the event that people want to make an impromptu visit. We started our meal with their home made na'an bread which is served with herb butter. The bread was warm, salty and delicious. The consistency of the bread is different than the traditional na'an but it was nonetheless satisfying and delightful. We also had the crab brandade which is a mix of mashed potatoes and blue crab made almost into a thick spread consistency, served on top of toasted Wonder bread and a soft egg. The flavors and textures on this rather simple dish blew our minds. The soft egg yolk was perfection and the Wonder toast was the right medium to bring it all together. We also had a tandori salmon served with greens and rice. This Asian inspired dish showcased savory flavors, heat and textures that worked so well together and made for a wonderful dish. Lastly we had the bucatini pasta with mushrooms and miso butter. This was another 'wow dish' for us. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The mushrooms were buttery and the sauce was rich yet delicate. For dessert we had a chocolate cremeux and lavender panna cotta topped with strawberries, not too sweet and the perfect ending to our wonderful meal. All of the dishes we had were exquisite, so thoughtfully and carefully crafted. Definitely shows the chef's passion for serving good food. Wow! My friends and I went here to celebrate a birthday. What a great food experience. This is not for people expecting leftovers or a ton of food to be served to them. This is about experiencing an array of flavors, paired perfectly together. Your portions are small and are meant to be savored (and shared). Expect to spent about $50/person. We sampled almost the entire menu, which changes completely every month, as a dish or two are changed every week. Instead of printing out each new menu weekly, I do wish they would have a nice chalk board hanging by each table that they could alter accordingly. It would also help to have the menu right there throughout the meal, as we were often forgetting exactly what each component of each dish was, and it would have been nice to reference the menu as we went. I ordered the Tuna Tartare, minus the shaved foie gras. Our friend ordered it with, so he got to experience both. It was amazing and so flavorful. I also tried the lamb meatballs, which were so good. The risotto dish was also perfectly cooked and came with a great contrasting texture of a Parmesan crisp on top. The beef ravioli was delicious, but my friend's salmon stole the show, even with our friend who typically doesn't eat fish. Dessert...oh my. I got the Goat Cheese Creme Brûlée with Fig. This was not your typical American dessert, I would say it was very, very lightly sweet. Almost savory, which was an awesome surprise. My friend who got the chocolate cake with a white chocolate sauce, amongst other things, was blown away and said she would be back for just dessert. The almond mousse was astounding as well. It came with a seaweed salsa that was just so unique and made this crudo different! The fish was fresh and it was just great. Beef carpaccio- This was beefy, salty, and amazing. Everything on this plate together was just amazing. I don't even know what else to say. Pea panna cotta with crab salad- WOW! I don't like peas but I wanted to try this because its a PEA PANNA COTTA.. this isn't something you see EVER so I had to try it. SO FREAKING GOOD. The mixture and texture of the pea panna cotta and crab salad was so unique in a good way. I wanted to order another one but I was too full at the end of the meal! Egg yolk ravioli- This was so rich and very yummy. The ravioli was cooked perfectly and the egg yolk just made everything taste creamy and yummy! Cobia with saffron tomato sauce- The fish and veggies were cooked perfectly! I don't really like tomato sauces with cobia so this dish was good but not my favorite. My boyfriend enjoyed the sauce and ate it all though! Short ribs- YUM! These were so tender and the mix of the carrots and the sauces made this hard to stop eating! Brie cheese semifreddo- Another unique and amazing dish. I've never had a cheese semifreddo before! The mixture of the cheese and fruit and cake were just a perfect combination! I've not had a dining experience this unique since a visit to The Admiral in Asheville last year. The decor is minimal, local art on the wall, a cozy (2 small couches) reading corner and series of 2 and 4-top tables. A "dining bar" lets you watch the dishes come together if that intrigues you. When we visited smooth sounds of 70's pop was playing on the stereo. The menu changes often, so don't consider what I've added in the photo to be a given. Based on what we had I can't imagine being disappointed by any offering..... The staff was friendly and engaging - which, given the size of the place, you really have to be! Sully was awesome, making sure we were happy throughout the visit. We started with a couple small plates - scallop ceviche and a roasted peach with ricotta. Both plates featured mildly eclectic ingredients that combined for an awesome plate - great combinations of tastes and textures (example - popcorn on the ceviche was a unique way to add a salty/crisp note to the dish without having it taste "simply salted"). Both plates were really awesome. For an entree we selected pork tenderloin and cod - the former done sous vide to an ideal firm texture, the latter steamed. Again, both proteins were presented with ingredients that really made for a party on the tastebuds. We finished with a unanimous decision to both get a chocolate ganache, and once again the presentation with the lavender "yogurt" and a few flecks of sea salt made for an unbelievably delicious dessert. We didn't have any of the alcoholic selections, but we did enjoy an apricot and lavender soda - which we found..... wait for it.... very restorative. You'll spend a little more on dinner here than most places in town, but you'll not find any of the "molecular gastronomy" taking place here anywhere else that I know of..... It's a great alternative to the ocean of burgers & fries and grouper platters all over the rest of town. read more
