This has been my go to breakfast spot ever since I moved to Pasadena. I recommend everything but my favorites are the blueberry pancakes and the Belgium waffle. The Belgium waffle is the best waffle I've ever tasted it's always crispy and fluffy. You also have to try their banana bread!! During covid they have outside seating and to go. Love this place! Expect to wait 20-30 min if you're a 10am latebird on the weekends. However, the food comes out quick and the service is superb. Your coffee mug will never go empty, trash/finished plates are picked up immediately, and the servers are really friendly. I absolutely LOVE the reyn!! Not sure how the two bad takeout reviews experienced this place! :/ but when we got our Covid Takeout, it was exactly how we usually enjoy it in the restaurant!! The Reyn takes extra precaution to keep everyone safe by having a window-counter at the front to screen who comes in (I believe they take orders from that window too), there's only a few employees inside and they're all wearing gloves and masks. Everyone is very friendly and cheerful about helping you with your order. I felt very safe and our food was delicious. Grab takeout from here if you're tired of your same-old-home breakfast and looking for something very affordable! We always get the corn-beef hash and banana bread! SO GOOD! Decided to try this place because I was looking for a breakfast type of place. Loved it! The service is super quick and the staff is kind. They're always quick to ask if you need anything and they come around quite often with a coffee pot, ready to serve. I had the French Toast with some coffee and a side of bacon and scrambled eggs, it was pretty good. The portions are good and the prices are reasonable. My friend had some eggs and a side of their banana bread, it was amazing!! Pretty good place, would recommend, and would go back. The banana bread is a must!! read more

We came here for Father's Day brunch and enjoyed it! There is a parking lot around the corner that has free parking. There was a wait of course but the line moved quick. It's kid friendly, mostly! They had fabric booster seats for the booths that were nice for our toddler. They were all scrambling to find crayons though and gave us a ripped out paper from a coloring book. Not a big deal but as a place that is family friendly, they should be prepared for kids wanting crayons!! The food was good! I had my regular, a veggie omelette which was big enough for 2 people easily! My husband had Mexican style eggs which he also liked and his was a huge serving size too!! We also had some banana bread which was yummy. I wish they had lattes... they'd make a latte money ;) They instead have regular black coffee. Not my thing. My friends and I came here for breakfast after a Saturday morning hike. The restaurant was busy and we were told the wait was about 20 minutes for our party of six, but we were seated only after five minutes. The place definitely has an old-school diner vibe with a traditional breakfast menu. Our server was super friendly and patient as we took turns giving our orders. The food arrived quickly, and OH MY GAWD, the portions were huge and the quality was amazing! I was with five dudes who were starving after a hike, and everyone left completely full and satisfied. Considering they're all particular and thrifty about their meals, it was a success. I didn't personally have the banana bread but I heard rave reviews about it from the others in our group. Unfortunately we're not from the area and it's a bit of a drive for us, but it will be hard going back to Denny's or IHOP when you know diners like this exists! read more

I've been here many times and I have to say it's usually hit or miss. I recommend sticking to breakfast classics only because the more complex items are usually bad. Today I ordered the huevos rancheros and I couldn't get past more than 1/4 of it. & trust me I love to eat! No ranchero sauce and the eggs sit on top of potatoes with tortilla on the side. Stopped in with a friend, slightly unsure what to expect despite reading previous reviews. The place was almost empty at noon, which didn't seem good. Checked out the menu and decided on the Rare Pho, while my friend got the Chicken Pho. Also ordered Spring Rolls to complete the meal. The Spring Rolls with the peanut sauce were excellent. A little hot sauce improved them even further! The Pho arrived and I immediately dived in after adding some sprouts, mint, and lime juice. The broth was excellent and the meat was even better. It was a bit thicker than I've had before, but much more tender and very tasty. Took off 1 star because it's slightly more expensive than a few other places that are just as good, but I won't hesitate to return. read more

First time visiting the restaurant and the very first interaction was the server being confrontational about walking behind the counter. Here's a tip, if you don't want people walking behind your counter to get to their table you need to tell your host to not walk that direction when seating people instead of yelling at your customers. Second I thought the food was good, not great. It was average diner food, but since most things seem to open later in that area it was nice to have an option. Momma and I needed breakfast before my interview and I quickly jumped on yelp bc we were in Pasadena.. This quaint restaurant has quirky sayings on the walls and are known for their banana bread.. I was ready for some breakfast! The veggie omelette was packed full of spinach, mushrooms, & tomatoes (I said no cheese and no onions.. thank you for listening and not giving me tummy issues guys!) the hashbrowns on the side were crispy and delicious as well.. I finished the whole thing (I never finish my plates!) I also asked for a side of fruit and wheat toast.. I couldn't handle any more food but the waitress was so nice and brought everything promptly My mom had the strawberry crepes and she said they were delicious! Not too sweet (huge portion! Great little diner my family found a new place that we can call home made breakfast. Especially the fact that they are not like the big corporations and it's really affordable. We just moved down the street from this place and kept saying we were going to eat there one of these sunday mornings since they have outdoor dinning. We finally got around to trying it but decided to just do take out that day since it was a little chilly out. The customer service was great from the start. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by friendly people and was helped. My order wasn't ready yet so I waited outside. They came out to get me when it was ready and made sure everything was there that I ordered and needed. They even offered to help me take it to my car since it was 2 bags and 2 hot chocolates. The food was fantastic! The pancakes are huge, the waffles are huge, and the breakfast burrito was bomb! I honestly can't wait to go back and try more things! I came here for breakfast this morning and needless to say breakfast was delicious. I had the strawberry waffle combo and I must say, that was one of the best Belgian waffles I think I've ever had. My one complaint would be that the strawberries were a little bit cold and and caused the waffle to get a little bit mushy from the juice. But the waffle itself was great, crispy on the outside and light without being to cakey. I wish I had gotten a picture of it but you can use your imagination of what a waffle with whipped cream and strawberries on it. Noticed this place on the way to Roscoe's. They had a bit of a line so it caught our eye. Roscoe's wait was 2 hours so we turned back around and seen there was no line anymore! So we went for it, what a very good decision that was. We were seated right away and within 10 mins of ordering got our food. We both went for the farmers breakfast, YUM. The prices were awesome for location and the food quality was great. Everything was cooked perfectly and so fresh. This place exceeded any expectations and it overall is on the list now for best diners I've been too. You get the greasy spoon diner feel, very clean, very friendly, very affordable, very fast, very satisfied. We will try this place again. It's no Roscoe's but we were just as satisfied leaving here. read more

4 Stars with one exception...They don't know how to cook hash browns when the customer asks for it to be crispy all the way through. All of their hash browns come out brown on the top and bottom but white and mushy in the middle. It's a pretty impressive amount but I don't like the mushy middle. I asked for it to be crispy all the way through. I even showed them a picture. I'm no gourmet chef but I know the reason it's white and mushy in the middle is because it's too thick and the cook only turns it once to save time on the orders. But I'm fine if my meal takes a bit longer because of my has browns. All that is required is for the cook to thin out the mound and toss it a couple of times. The cook in the restaurant at my golf club makes it perfectly for me. Nope! It came out burnt on top and bottom and still white and mushy in the middle. I'm afraid to ask for them to re-do it so I don't. Other than that - the prices are reasonable, the wait staff is friendly and efficient. Small place. Packed to the brim. Super loud environment so don't expect to have much of a conversation unless you sit at the bar area. The waitresses are amazing - I loved sitting at the bar because watching them all work together was like watching a synchronized dance. I had the french toast and sausage, my sister had the steak omelet and home fries. The french toast was delicious. The steak omelet wasn't too bad outside of the green bell pepper and onion not being cooked down a bit. The home fries tasted like plain boiled russet potatoes - not very appetizing. The ambiance of the place was cool; think old school family diner vibes. The service was great. The prices were great. The Reyn has the crispiest and lightest tasting waffle baked golden brown with a pat of butter and syrup on the side. It's so good, it's one of their most popular dishes! Had breakfast there with my wifey this morning. She had the Cinnamon Roll French Toast which by the way was of the chain...awesome!!. I had the Strawberry and whip creme Waffle, which was awesome also. Both of us enjoyed the service our server was very attentive, coffee always full, plates removed after we were done, very courteous, and server was very pleasant. I went to The Reyn on a friend's advice. I arrived about 8:30 on a Friday morning and there were a few tables taken, mostly empty. I was greeted by all the servers and was ready to drink the coffee. Over the time it took me to slowly eat and pay, the whole restaurant filled up. I ordered the Belgium special #1. For $8 I got a large and crusty, but fluffy, Belgian waffle and because I did not want eggs, I was offered extra sausage(yay!). So my plate had 4 scrumptious sausages and the waffle. They were the kind of sausages with thin-skin that pops when you bite into them, juicyyyy. The waffle was really fantastic. I cannot recommend it enough. The service was great, my coffee never got below half full and it was strong and tasty. They turned the tables over quickly, which is good given the line forming, but I would have liked to linger with coffee a little longer. No one forced me out of course, I just am conscientious of turnover from being a server forever. There is a small counter for those who don't want to wait for a table. The place is clean but needs some tile work done. The broken and missing tiles make it feel dirty, but when you look close you can see they're very clean. I took away one star for the disrepair, but it should've been less than a whole star because it's so clean. There's a large parking lot in the back. I will definitely try this place again! UPDATE---- 2nd visit - again 8:30am and the place filled up quickly. Same great service. They did not have the Belgian waffle available today. :-( (It's a regular menu item, not a daily special.) So I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes. They were good except one or two tasted like they got cooked on the grill in a spot that had onions prior. When that bite got in my mouth, it pretty much ruined the pancakes for me. I did eat more hoping it was a fluke- but it was real. Based on my first trip, I will eat here once more and see... (not changing rating) ---also, oddly, there was an electrician who came after I started eating, working on something over the front door, which is where I was sitting, at the door booth. Looking for a great breakfast place while enjoying our Southern California vacation. We wanted to explore Pasadena and wanted to go to a old school diner. The Reyn really fit the bill fast and friendly service, ample portions, fair prices and charming interior. This place really fit the bill. We went later in the afternoon on a weekday so we were able to avoid the long waits. We were seated right away. My husband wanted the crepes that were on the special board but unfortunately they were out. I was impressed that most everything was under $ 10.00 and the portions were quite large a real bang for the buck. I ordered the pancake special with eggs and bacon you can taste the buttermilk they were light and fluffy. My son ordered the blueberry pancakes and they looked amazing plenty of fresh blueberries. My husband ordered the waffles so very delicious. We were impressed with the coffee as well strong and well flavored. Next time I will order the fresh baked banana bread they bake it fresh everyday. Once again Yelp saved the day! Next time we are in the Pasadena area we will go once again. read more

Don't be fooled by the exterior, this place is LOVED by the neighborhood. On a day I was craving for good but not overpriced just because the place looks hip, I decided to give it a try. Ordered the Ortega special, I can tell the salsa is homemade because it tasted fresh. The egg omelette wasn't the buttery kind, which I preferred. The pancake will taste better if you let it cool down a little bit, I don't know why. LOL Give it a 4 instead of 5 starts because the overall cleanness could use some improvement. read more
