So this was another recommendation from somebody I was working with while on the road. Hard to beat local suggestions. These guys have a nice setup with a good seating area and the decor you'd expect at a Texas rib joint. Felt right. You order from the line (meats and sides displayed in front of you) as is common with BBQ places like this. They were extremely friendly with me as I asked questions and they gave me clarification on their offerings in a very helpful way. I went with the 3 meat combo with spicey sausage, ribs, and briscuit. All were delicious. I had them add their sauce over the top. I also had the green beans and squash as my two sides. Being my first barbeque place in Texas, I'd say it was pretty good. I ordered the dinner plate and choose white chicken meat and ribs, along with two sides that were mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. One mistake I made was getting the bbq on the side. I didn't realize how much they drench the meat in the sauce. Besides that, the chicken juicy and good. Same goes for the ribs, they came right off the bone and were nice and moist. The mac and cheese were good, nothing to rave about. As for the mashed potatoes, they were really simple. Could have used salt and pepper. My husband got the apples and I must say the apples and mac and cheese go AMAZING together. The sweetness from the apples make the mac and cheese stand out. He also got the brisket, and that is more my cup of tea. It had a great smokey taste. When you walk in, it reminds me of a cafeteria style. You grab your tray and order what you want. The staff were very friendly, as it was our first time there so we weren't sure what to get. Pricing was great though. For the amount of food we got it was VERY reasonable! Solid food and service. People were just over the top friendly and seemed to be enjoying their work! I had some kind of catfish, I enjoy catfish at maybe 2 places, and now it is 3. There was quest on it and it was fried and breaded with potato chips. A great atmosphere. My wife liked her burger and the daughter had the three meats. Brisket was good, ribs were better. I ordered the brisket tacos. Absolutely delicious! Cooked to perfection; served on corn tortillas, abundantly filled with brisket meat, cilantro and shreddedwhite queso. I would have/should have photographed but as stated, I was famished. Ate them real fast before I passed out from hunger, LOL. We had the 3 meat platter (spicy sausage, moist brisket and ribs) with cole slaw and potato salad. The portion was in the dog. I thought the potato salad could have been more flavored. We also got the stuffed potato and side of cowboy corn. I wasn't a big fan of the corn since my favorite bbq side had always been cream corn. The secret to satisfying 12 very different people and appetites. We ordered everything from 2-3 meat dinners of bbq, chicken fried steak, chicken tenders, baked potatoes, and seafood platters. As if that wasn't enough, we order baskets of fried pickles to end everyone's cravings. By far the greatest decision i have made all week. If this place wasn't worth it, I definitely would of heard complaints from 12 different directions as I Insisted to come here, but everyone was in love and full. Great place to stop by. A three meat plate, additional side, and coconut cream pie was $21.33. Sausage - Nothing special and borderlines on grocery store sausage due to a lot of fat Sliced beef - Tough, flavorless, and dry. Good BBQ doesn't need sauce but unfortunately this one does. Too bad the sauce is extremely tangy, although now that I think about it, maybe that's to mask the poor taste. Ribs - I realize we're a long way from Memphis, but that doesn't mean you have to make tough, dry meat. The meat did not fall off the bones like it should. They were severely overcooked. Mashed potatoes - Cold and instant. The gravy has a bit of a smokey flavor, but I suppose that's a good thing when your mashed potatoes don't include any skins. Green beans - Canned and stringy, there were inedible, fatty pieces of bacon included. Fried okra - Pre-frozen and tasteless, you'll need the gravy from the mashed potatoes to add flavor. okra was soggy, perhaps these are baked and not truly fried upon request. This is a far cry from the crispy okra at Swadley's in Oklahoma City. Fried pickles - The only good thing because it's the only side made from scratch. In addition, the pickles have enough flavor to mask any mistakes. Lightly battered, I'm glad I was able to redeem the yelp check in with no problems! They forgot my coconut cream pie. I went through the drive-thru, and no utensils were provided. I think I will avoid this place the next time I'm in the area! read more

Okay first I have to say I am a little embarrassed that i have never actually eaten in the restaurant. But with barbecue it's all about the food right?! We have had two events catered to my son's elementary l from them; Blue and Gold Banquet for scouts this past February and our PTO hosted teacher/staff appreciation week last Wednesday. The food is amazing! From the brisket, chicken and sausage to the slaw potato salad and beans to the pickles onions and jalapenos to the rolls and fruit salad. And the price was VERY reasonable. Bone dry flavorless chicken. Brisket was also dry as a bone. I did not see any sign of a smoke ring. It tasted more like a tough piece of rump roast. Make sure you are with someone that knows the heimlich maneuver if you eat here because you may choke on all that dry meat. read more

Picked up lunch today. My first visit. The brisket was pretty good, tiny bit dry but still good. The jalapeño burger was piping hot and tasty. Nice kick to it. The okra was Luke warm and soggy and maybe under cooked. Same with the fries. We started pulling food out of the bag to eat before we left the parking lot so it didn't have time to get that way in the bag. This would have been great BBQ in 1980. However, the BBQ world has passes them by. The brisket was a little tough and not much flavor. The pork ribs might have been good. Worked in Tomball for 25 years and retired 8 years ago. Have eaten lunch many times over the years at the rib tickler. Stopped with my wife to eat tonight at about 4:20. The girl behind the counter asked what I wanted. I replied with a 2 meat plate with ribs and my second would be ribs. She just looked at me and replied you can not do that you have to have a different meat, not even with an upcharge which I would have paid. Needless to say I went to Rudys for my ribs. Well, I had not eaten here in over 20 years. I was so excited to try it again. Cannot tell you how disappointed I am. I ordered a brisket plate and boy. I cannot say what the "fatty" brisket he put on my plate looked like. Think of a bad night in the restroom. I immediately asked him to take it off the plate and put more lean brisket on. But the lean brisket was like belt leather, just not as tasty. It was so bad I took it back to the register and the staff did not say anything, no apology or explanation, just took it from me. 1st time here and it's really good. The bbq sauce isn't sweet but smokey (that's a good thing). The chicken is tender and well flavored, the ribs had a nice crust on the outside while being tender and juicy with a lot of meat on each rib and the brisket was not greasy.
