I ordered the special thinking it would be their best meal. Turned out not to be. Egg roll was good but the noodles were bland. If I wanted that time of quality I could of gone to Panda Express. The place is nice thou. Sorry, first impressions are important. This is not a recommendation.

This building caught my eye since I first moved to Houston and I was very satisfied after trying it for the first time recently. The building is very pretty and aesthetic. On a Sunday afternoon it took about 10 minutes for a spot to become available in the tight parking lot so I would probably come at a time that's less busy in this area. The food was amazing and well priced for a generous portion, I got crispy orange tofu and fried rice; it was some of the best orange tofu I've ever had and I order that quite a lot. Their nitro Thai tea was sooo good too. They have a nice cute patio to sit on to enjoy the weather too.

Good Asian food. Not sure I'd call this fusion as they're all the "normal" menu options but it's good for lunch. Very generous portion. Has the curry which was good though not Dumplings were good too.

First review of 2019! Wow, and what better place to start than writing my first review based on my suggestions: The Rice Box at Greenway Plaza in Houston. I have been to this place a few times, mostly in my time working offsite at their nearby office building (5 Greenway Plaza). The Rice Box is nestled down on the lower floors of a cafeteria area surrounded by other restaurants, men and women in business casual clothing, TV's blaring the daily news and a cone shaped window looking up in the middle of a indoor courtyard. The Rice Box is a Chinese restaurant that I find to be ~alright~ for the most part. Being Asian myself, this place was about on par with other Chinese American restaurants in the Houston area (take Panda Express for example. This place and Panda Express is NOT authentic Chinese food). Nice atmosphere, great decor on the outside, nice friendly staff, but I was mostly here for the food. Will this food disappoint me or make me come back for more? That is the real question of the day. The food was... what I thought it would be. A lot of rice (and I mean a lot.), medium sized portions of protein, some veggies, and an eggroll. To be honest, not a bad price for the amount of food you get (it's like really heavy and really big). But, that container is filled with like 75% rice and 25% everything else. Get the portions right people! Other than that, 3/5, would come back if I am desperate... and there are like 6 other restaurants/places to eat in that lower concourse area, so there you go.

Love the restaurant decor and atmosphere!!! Great spot for late night cravings or to take pretty cool pictures for content!!! The food here is really good and savory!!! I loved the wings and rice here!!! They have pan fried noodles and other dishes that are a must try!!! Come by during lunch or after work with family or friends to enjoy a delicious meal!!! Did I mention they also play anime while you eat and drink?!?... order a nice cold one, eat and relax at this cool hot spot!!!

Curry fried rice and fried dumpling

The chicken curry fried rice was so good. Rice was cooked perfectly, the chicken tender, and the spice level was on point. It was spicy but not overpowering. It was very flavorful. The portion size was also plentiful. The fried dumplings were fried a little too hard. They were hard and chewy but not horrible. This is the reason for the four stars. Next time I would probably get steamed because I will be back because the curry rice was amazing.

I came in for a quick to go lunch and opted for the wings box with sauce on side but I should have went with the fried rice. Unfortunately after waiting to eat when I got home I didn't check my food there and came to see that the wings were really burnt. They had a slight bitter/charred taste. At least the egg roll was good or I was really hungry cause I ate that in the car. I've had their fried rice before when A friend ordered it and I remembered it was good.

The parking lot is quite small for this place. it's a cute little place, very aesthetic especially if you come at night. I tried the sesame shrimp and definitely was not a fan. I also shared the sesame tofu with a friend and I LOVE IT. It was so crispy and so amazing couldn't even tell it was tofu. Next time I will try the tofu with the noodles instead of rice. It's worth the price for sure because they give a lot. Also cool chill vibes so definitely something nice to check out!

The service was very quick and efficient. The place looks amazing. Love the way they set it up with such a small area to work with. Love eating at greenway plaza because it was so much selection and a nice atmosphere. The food wasn't all that. The fried rice wasn't great and the pepper steak I order was so sweet and the carrots were undercooked. Will try a different plate next time and give an updated review. I got a nitro Thai tea and it was beyond amazing. Def recommend. The right about of sweetness too. It sort of looks like beer especially with the foam but it's non dairy so a great plus !

Ok. Nothing soecial. Tofu is cooker well and so are vegetables but not a lot of flavor and not a lot of sauce. I need to try a few other dishes like the Mongolian. Will give it another chance. Also, when I ask got soy sauce I'd prefer if it they'd give us more than one and same with siracha.

Beef Chow fun - 4 Stars (alittle greasy) Chicken Dumpling - 4 Stars Chicken Friend rice - 4 Stars

I came here during lunch twice. The concept is cute, where the meat is over the rice. Alittle pricey. 1st time I came here. I order the beef and broccoli. Almost $10. It may look like there's a lot of food but in reality it's a lot of rice and the beef and broccoli is on top. I had better else where. 2nd time - I had order the beef chow fun. Almost $13. Alittle on the greasy side but I like that they add shredded cabbage in it. Usually the traditional Chinese beef chow does not have cabbage in it. It taste pretty good. Both entrees come with an egg roll. My coworker got the chicken dumpling and a small fried rice. It taste pretty good. These 2 items wasn't that expensive.

My favorite was definitely the Kobe Beef Skewers - I could have just eaten those all night long! Deliciousness in every bite. I'm not a fan of raw fish, so while my family enjoyed a handful of crudo dishes and nigiri, I got to enjoy the Longhorn Roll. This roll was solid, nothing mindblowing. We all enjoyed the Spicy Miso Ramen! Rich, flavorful broth that rivals some of my top ramen spots. I forget exactly what dessert we ordered, it may have been their chocolate bread pudding, but it was so good that I was literally scraping the plate! After…read morerecently moving back, I chose it for my birthday lunch with friend because I had such fond memories of dining there. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. I arrived about 20 minutes before opening and had to wait outside in Houston's summer heat 93'F. While there are a few benches, there is very little shade, and guests are not allowed to wait inside. When the restaurant opened, there was no clear system for seating guests. Even though I was first in line, several people rushed in ahead of me, making the process feel disorganized. The biggest issue involved a $300 gift card that my friend had received years ago. She simply asked the staff to check the balance. When the server returned, he told us the manager had cut the card in half and that the entire balance had to be used during that visit. What bothered me was the lack of communication. We were never informed of the policy before the card was invalidated. If that is the restaurant's policy, it should be explained clearly beforehand. As two ladies having lunch, spending $300 was difficult, so we ended up ordering far more food than we normally would. The sashimi was fresh but cut thinly than what I've had at comparable restaurants. The hamachi kama, chirashi, and lobster mac and cheese were good. The green tea soufflé cheesecake was the biggest disappointment. For $10, it consisted of three very small cubes and felt overpriced. The waitstaff were attentive, friendly and professional, which helped salvage the experience. However, between the uncomfortable wait outside, the chaotic seating process, and the poor handling of the gift card, this visit did not live up to my previous experiences. While I have many good memories of Kata Robata, I'm not sure I'll be returning anytime soon.

Normally I would suggest other places after one visit but found myself drawn to the convenience of the menu and the friendly staff. So the menu is asian fusion for breakfast and lunch items in the form of tacos, nachos, quesadillas, rice bowls, salads, and some cocktails thrown in. As tempted as we were to do an adult beverage, we stuck with lunch items for professionalism. Some items we tried were the following: Tacos: Brisket: 8/10 Tofu Tikka Masala: 9/10 Tilapia: 6/10 Pulled Pork: 7/10 Salads: Mango and Kale: 8/10 Caesar: 7/10 Taco Salad w/ chicken: 9/10 Rice Bowls: BBQ Pork: 7/10 Other Items: Brussels Sprouts: 8/10 Chips and Guacomole: 5/10 Chips and Spicy Hummus: 7/10 Only item we didn't care for was the chips and guacamole. The guac is bland as it's just mainly mashed avocado w/ minimal seasoning and missing items such as red onion, cilantro, lime juice, etc. The chips however are wonderful and excellent for dipping which goes well with the hummus. Hummus has a kick; not the best but good for the price and comes out quickly. The rice bowls are filling and ok. The taco salad was probably the best item; very powerful southwest flavors and the chicken very tender. Now the tacos; the brisket and tofu tikka masala are both tasty; brisket is tender and the tofu tikka masala might make you forget it's tofu. Pulled pork was alright but messy. The tilapia is tender but also messy and the tortilla kept breaking apart due to the salsas and toppings. Need to make it stronger! The plaza is lucky to have this and when I have future assignments out this way, I'll be sure to stop back in and try their other items.

As for the mains, the Spicy Seafood Fried Rice is a good value as it was loaded with all sort of fruits of the sea (shrimp, squid, and mussel), with prominent lemongrass and kaffir lime aroma, but a bit wet or moist for a fried rice dish, the Crabmeat Omelet is served with a nice portion of lump crabmeat where you can taste the flavor of the seafood and add sriracha to liking, and the Beef Pad See Ew is made appetizing with wok charred flat rice noodles along with a savory blend of soy sauce, Chinese broccoli and egg. SHOUT OUT HUGO! I have been staying in the icu with my son and was sick of having cafeteria food…read more Upon arriving I was impressed with the entire set up. Super cool, very futuristic, and hip. I'm from St. Louis and I have been craving some chinamen (that's what we call it in the 314) I didn't want that light skin rice you houstonians seem to simp over. I've had soo many rices here in my 4 years and this by far was the best. The house fried rice is top notch. Let me not forget to mention Hugo! He was so sweet and a genuinely nice person. Explained ingredients and joked with me even. 10/10!!!! The photos do absolutely no justice! I forgot to take a photo before I chowed down.

Our party of 4 arrived around 9:30 PM on a Sunday and we were the only ones there. We were seated…read morepromptly and when my friends got here, we ordered right away because we were so hungry and did not want to wait any longer. It felt like only 5 minutes later, they started bringing out a few of our dishes and then another 5 minutes later, all 8 of our dishes were out. We were making jokes that they took our telepathically on the way to the restaurant. When they brought the food out, we all said "wow!" In unison because of how fast they were. Food was on point. Noodles were super saucy. My favorite was the sweet and sour fried fish. Fish was super crispy and I didn't expect the fish to be so huge. We definitely ordered with our stomachs that night. Walnut shrimp is always good and they had a side of walnuts with it. Tons of veggies with the mongolian beef and chicken. Everything was delicious and portions were huge. I can't find anything to complain about.

Most recently I went with my boyfriends and got the kung pau chicken and an order of spicy beef cumin. Their portion sizes are HUGE and come with white rice on the side and we both left thoroughly satisfied. I've also gotten their garlic green beans and fried eggplant and spicy tofu dishes before and those are also all equally divine! They have tons of options for anyone who loves chinese food to order. The place is small but it's a great spot to invite some friends for a casual lunch or to order take out!
