Is it expensive AF? Yes. Is it completely amazing? YES! If you want a real treat and to feel super pampered and relaxed, the spa here is simply divine. All the amenities in the spa are available for you to use for the ENTIRE day if you book a massage here, so you can feel free to come and go as you please! Keep that in mind if you're booking something so you can take full advantage of the spa. My husband and I had booked a 50-min couples' lomi lomi massage ($360) in the outdoor couples' hut for the last day of our stay at the Ritz. I think it was the manager who helped us and got someone to give us a tour of the spa before we decided what to book. They automatically add 20% service charge to your massage so you don't have to tip the masseuses afterwards. It is a hefty bill, but holla to Costco travel resort credit! ;) Come a little before your appointment time so they can get you changed into some comfy luxurious robes, lock your belongings away in your own locker, and the attendant will also help you find slippers in your size. There's a couples' area in which you can relax on chairs and use a joint outdoor jacuzzi. Swim suits are of course required. There's water, coffee, teas, snacks, and your masseuse will come get you from here when they're ready for you. We had Matt and Christina, who were both excellent! The outdoor couples' hut has some windows so you can hear the ocean and feel the breeze. You can also opt for more oils and lotions of your fancy but we didn't get the extras and it was still an amazing massage! Matt definitely got all my knots out and put the right amount of pressure in all the right places. I don't even usually like foot massages because I get ticklish, but when he massaged my foot it felt so good and necessary! The beds and sheets are super comfy too and seriously, that island breeze, knowing the ocean is not far away is such a magical feeling. After the massage, my husband passed out on a lounge chair in the common area after we had some refreshments, chocolates, and snacks. I went in to enjoy the relaxation room, the spa and steam room (equipped with cold hand towels and cucumbers and water), and took a shower. THE SHOWER. Oh man. They have special showerheads that have all the right kind of water pressure and distribution and it's so good that they even sell them in the gift store! These negative ion showerheads prevent that nasty buildup you typically see on showerhead from the minerals in the water AND that water pressure...mmm. And the shampoo and amenities they use are top notch, left my hair hydrated and soft, and smell amazingggg. I mean, we stayed at the Ritz and I wish they had the same kinda showerheads in the showers in their rooms. They have hair dryers, even UV light cleaned hair brushes, hair spray, etc all ready for you to freshen up after a shower. There's also a salon here for mani/pedis/blowouts. This was definitely a fantastic treat and relaxing afternoon and I'm so glad that we did it! Get a morning massage and come back and use the other amenities throughout the day as you please! The robes and slippers are old and worn. This Ritz Carlton is not on par. The masseuse, reception, and staff i encountered are well trained, polite, attentive, and professional. Jodi gave me the best massage of my entire life. I booked a 50-minute Lomi-Lomi, and it was so relaxing. She managed to soothe my sore muscles with a gentle, rhythmic pressure. I never wanted it to end! I added the cocoa butter to my treatment for an additional $25, and thought it was worth it--the smell was amazing and my skin felt so soft after the treatment. The spa facilities are wonderful--there are secure lockers next to a relaxation room with tea, water and aromatherapy. Beside that is a grotto-like area with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. There are also showers, bathrooms, and everything you need to get ready for the day, from spray deodorant to hairspray to facial cleanser and sunscreen. I come out glowing every time. I've been to just about every spa on the island and the staff and the service at the Ritz are a cut above all the others. The deep tissue I had asked the therapist to go as deep as he could and he did as just as I asked. My facial was amazing I have very sensitive skin and one of the few times that I have received a facial and left with my skin being more soothed and calm than before the facial. No joke I've had other oxygen facial the other places and left with my skin red and burning no joke. She was so careful with my skin. Booked a couples massage for our honeymoon. I called and we were booked the following day for an appointment at 9am. My husband and I arrived at 8:30am to take advantage of the facility before our appointments. When we arrived, the hair dryers were being installed. It was LOUD!!!! Not very relaxing nor does it set the stage for a relaxing massage. A warning about the services would have been nice, then I would not have shown up so early. The relaxation room, sauna and spa was so gorgeous! Only to find out it was for women only (men had their own rooms). I was pretty bummed...I thought I was able to relax with the hubby and enjoy the facility alongside him. There is a co-ed waiting room and hot tub before the massages. I went over their and patiently waited for my husband. There was a nice selection of snacks, fruits, spa waters and teas to enjoy. I even took advantage of the Hawaii books in the waiting area. Finally, my husband arrived and by this time, it was 9am. We were greeted and shown our massage nest. It was an outside gorgeous hut with soft music. My husband received a deep tissue massage and I received the LomiLomi massage. It was perfect! I even upgraded to a $25 foot scrub. At the very end, we relaxed in the hot spa together. Once we were over the hot spa, that was our cue to leave since we had to separate and could not be together in the sauna or relaxation rooms (bummer- wanted to take advantage of the amenities but did not want to leave my husband). A member of staff helped me over the cell to find an appointment that day, with exactly what I was looking for, :80 massage with male therapist. After check in and the room not yet ready I lugged my bags to the spa, got a nice locker and was off to the steam room. Well, it was the steamist steam room I have ever been in. I could hardly find a place to sit. It was amazing. After I was fully moistened, I made for the showers, lovely then the natualistic hot tub in a rocky corner room. I skipped the sauna for the 2 relaxation zones. The massage was more than your cruise ship rub down! I had :80 minutes of deep tissue that left me an inch taller and a year younger! You get the use of the spa the entire day, so I missed out going late the day of check in, but I was quite happy. Don't miss the bathing suit spinner by the showers. No matter how drenched you bathers, a quick spin in that miracle machine and they are dry enough for the dining room! read more

I just came to re-read my review for the Spa at Ritz Kapalua and I'm shocked to see I never wrote one. I visited the spa in April. I've had many massages in my life, but I've never had an experience like this. I didn't truly understand what a luxury spa was until I arrived. The first day I had a massage, I was impressed with the facility I was being given a tour of. After entering the spa lobby you go through a hallway that divids the men and women's areas. Going through the women's, you walk past the locker area and into the changing area. Here you have restrooms, vanities with soaps and deodorants (as well as hair dryers and makeup brush cleaners), a bathing suit drying machine, and a door that opens up to 3 or 4 private showers. The showers themselves are impressive, equipped with shaving tools and washing products, giving more luxury than even the rooms in the hotels. Before or after your service, or even just paying a spa fee for the day if you are not receiving a service, you can lounge in either the tranquil lounge room or in the wet area (clothing optional, though I was only one of two women I saw who took advantage of that) that has a hot tub, herbal steam room, and dry sauna. The wet room is small, but I never encountered more than 3 other people in the 4 days I visited. I lounged on the chairs, dipped in the hot tub, and enjoyed infused water. The wet area is made to look like a little cavern with dim lighting. Pictures don't do it justice, this really makes you feel like you've escaped (there is a rather large accessible chair for the hot tub that is distracting in style, but its so great to see that anyone can use this room!). The herbal steam room is very very steamy but it did wonders to open up my sinuses. The dry sauna was amazing and hardly used. After you have used the amazing women's amenities, you can go wait for your service in the co ed waiting area. This is truly amazing because it opens up to an outdoor private hot tub that couples and friends can share together, while enjoying the maui weather. Refreshments of all sorts are provided. I had two massages and both were amazing. In some ways they were better than any I had. The technique was different than what I am used to and this allowed me to feel deep relaxation as it felt that she was massaging my body as a whole. There was just this natural flow to it. However, both times I requested some extra attention on my feet and didn't receive it (and yes, I showered before so my feet were clean). I think this is because I also requested attention to my back and shoulders, and I absolutely need deep work there. They could probably tell, and allocated the time in a way they thought best. The only downside to this spa is that, if you have to use the restroom right before or during your treatment, you have to walk all the way to the back behind the locker rooms. Its actually kind of a long walk. I rarely give 5 full stars. This place was breathtaking and I'm not sure if another place will ever live up. read more

Excluding on particular maid service we had done in while we were in the room, where the maid decided it was ok to proceed to vacuum my feet and follow my with vacuum on the wood floor for just a bit , it was funny though a bit irritating ! Other than that, every one was especially accommodating and so kind. From customer service, the valet, every wait staff in the restaurants, every one went out of their way to make us feel so welcome . A true and luxurious treat when you are on vacation. Ritz-Carlton lives up to its luxurious lifestyle when I decided to come on my last day on the island and it was the perfect aloha to the island. Thankfully, they were able to accommodate at such short notice during their peak season. When were greeted with such a beautiful and festive lobby at the entrance at the Ritz Carlton, you know you have arrived at paradise. I was checked in quickly and shown around the beautiful facilities by the concierge. The Facilities: I received a brief tour to the locker which included probably one of the most comfortable robes I've worn and slippers. I was free to roam the space from their awesome relaxation room with fruit flavored water and snacks to the steam, sauna, & jacuzzi room to use. Someone would come find me once my massage treatment was ready. The rooms were perfectly spaced out never feeling crowded. The relaxation room has plenty of lounge chairs if you want to chat or take a nap. The steam and sauna room were both great and they offer complimentary little cucumbers by the jacuzzi to truly get into relaxation mode. The showers were clean with plenty of towels and all the toiletries you need. Come early before your massage or make time after your massage to make use of all the facilities! The Massage: Soon enough, it was time for my lomi lomi massage. They offer different lotions you can choose from: french lavender, kukui coconut, fresh unscented lotion, papaya pineapple lotion. They also offer various upgrade options as well with different oils, lotions, and scrubs. My masseuse Lucy, was very sweet and asked questions on where I would like focus on. Neck, shoulders, lower back...and I like veryyyy firm pressure! She listened and her pressure was on point! She knew all the tight spots and massaged out all my knots. On top of that, the sheets were extremely comfortable! So comfortable I had to look at the tags. Funny enough, a few years ago when I came to Maui and got a massage...I loved the sheets and bought one online. They're called Comphy Co, looks like the entire island is in love with them because they are truly the softest sheets. The Ritz-Carlton is worthy enough to just check out the grounds and its amazing pools and views. You might as well treat yourself. Go hard or go home right? I visited this spa while vacation in Maui and my fiance wanted to play 36 holes at the Plantation and Bay Golf Courses in Kapalua. I had originally wanted to visit the Spa Montage to keep me entertained but when I called for a facial, I thought $270 was crazy. After calling the Ritz, $170 seemed less of a shock. Upon arriving I was greeted at the front entrance where they gave me the directions to the spa. Friendly bellman and thorough directions since it's a bit of a walk to get to the spa. After the walk through the hotel and arriving at the spa, I realized that the spa didn't open until 8:30am and I was there at 8 so I headed up to the fitness center and got in a quick workout since you have access while visiting the spa. Nice selection of equipment though it would have been nice to have it open air since you are in paradise and this side of the island was much more windy than Wailea and would have provided a nice breeze. Arriving at the spa I was greeted by two very friendly employees. Erin was one and I believe the other was named Tricia. Both were extremely helpful in giving me the run down of the place and very friendly. I was receiving their fall facial that included some sort of pumpkin and yam products. The facility was nice. Definitely a step above your standard day spa but I would agree with the many spa ranking lists I looked at that this probably should be ranked about #8 on the island. We had visited Grand Wailea spa and it was much more elaborate than this facility. It has everything you need though, dry spa, steam room, Jacuzzi, nice showers, a nice area to freshen up and the standard lockers. The slippers they provided were okay, mine had a hole in the back so every time I stepped, you heard a 'whooosh'. The robs were nice as well. The co-ed area was nice with lots of seating, great snacks that included dried mango and candied pecans and another jacuzzi but this one was outside surrounded by some landscaping and rock wall. The chairs around the area were very relaxing but there seemed to be a lot of foot traffic through this area and two very loud air conditioners. It did add white noise to the area which wasn't terrible but I would have preferred to hear more natural sounds while lounging in paradise. You can't see the pool or the ocean from this area, you are more tucked within the resort, below the fitness center. I was picked up for my treatment 10 min after my scheduled time by Jennifer. The room was standard for a spa but the bed was extremely comfortable. The treatment was okay but it wasn't as relaxing as some of my other facials. My skin did seem improved afterwards and she used the NuFace therapy, though I can't say what exactly contributed it to the difference I noticed. It seemed more like a face treatment than the relaxation experiences I've encountered elsewhere. She spent a fair amount of time cleaning items between steps. I personally feel like they should do the cleanup once the treatment is over because I know I spent a good 5-7 minutes after most the facial was over, laying on the table while she washed bowls, open and closed things, and the like. Definitely took away from the relaxation a bit. In addition, my hands had been in warming gloves for most of the treatment and when they were removed, she pulled them off and my hands were left to fall on the bed and she announced my treatment was over and she would meet me outside. Definitely a more abrupt ending than I had expected. After my treatments I visited the pool and encountered a friendly employee named Paul that setup my lounge chair with towels. Drink service was friendly as well and the pool was beautiful. I had a nice experience overall and warrants the 4 stars. The staff and the property were great but I wouldn't say its a must see spa while in Maui but it was still a nice, relaxing day. read more

I just had the Lomi Lomi spa and spent the last 4 hours lounging in this spa. Elizabeth was my masseuse and did a great job. On the day of your spa appointment you have full access to the amenities until 6 PM. This includes a coed relaxation room with snacks, refreshments, and a whirlpool. The spa is separated by a male and female section. There is also a female wet room that includes a sauna, steam room, and whirlpool. There is a separate relaxation room with snacks and refreshments. The showers are fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, shaving cream, and moisturizer. The water that comes out is infused with vitamin c and is so soft. The staff are constantly turning over the rooms so things are kept clean and tidy. The service here is great. I was able to switch my morning appointment to an afternoon one the day before. The staff responds quickly to calls and is very accommodating. I would definitely come back for another spa day when I vacation in Maui in the future. read more

She said no. So I was literally freezing as she massage me with her cold hands and cold oil. In my mind I'm thinking this can't be right. I push through the massage and couldn't wait til it was over. I think this was the first massage I was praying it would end fast. I expressed what happened to the management which they were very sorry to hear and suggested another therapist to redo my massage. I said ok. Bc I really want to relax and I wanted going to let one bad massage ruin my trip. The second time Was completely different. I was in a room that had an opening to the outside. Like a half hut. So I could feel nice warm breeze. Also the lomi lomi massage was completely different! WOW I think the first girl was just doing stuff her way and hoping I wouldn't notice? Anyway I was able to enjoy and my husband met me outside in the co-ed pool area. It is a small intimate spa. But a nice one if you can get the right therapist. We had a great experience here and would highly recommend. My wife and I did the couple's stress relief massage. We were given a polite tour of the facilities before the treatment began. A major plus is that the very nice facilities can be used the entire day of any treatment, so be sure to come early/stay late the day of your treatment. The spa facility has a relatively small but nice co-ed sitting area with a hot tub and a lounge area to wait for their treatments. If I had any complaints, it would be that the co-ed area is very limited in size and options. The treatment by Jennifer and Patty was great and what you would expect from a Ritz Carlton massage. This spa facility is quite lovely and completely peaceful. The decor is soothing, the staff calming, and everything feels very clean. The outdoor co-ed hot tub was super hot, but the gentle rains made for a relaxing and nature-filled experience. The gender areas (locker rooms) have great saunas - dry and wet - and a clothing optional hot tub, just to top off your time here. Special extra 5 stars for my massage therapist, Chris! He must have sports injury training because he quickly and efficiently released my lower back tension. I couldn't get comfortable on the airplane and ended up tweaking myself pretty bad. Aaaaaaah!! Such a treat. We've been to Kapalua and the Ritz several times but I had never used the spa. I decided to splurge on this trip and have a spa day while hubby took the kids for a hike on Haleakala. This is definitely a five star spa and worth every penny! If you're in Kapalua, Lahaina, or Kaanapali it is worth the drive and money if you're looking to pamper yourself. I booked the "stress relief massage" and the "custom Espa facial". Lucy (masseuse) and Shaheen (aesthetician/facial) were fantastic! I usually like to nap during my spa treatments and try to avoid meaningless "chatter" but had some very interesting and entertaining conversations with both of the gals. Everything was so clean and well stocked (snacks, cold flavored water, cold and hot tea). The ambience was so relaxing and comfortable. I usually don't enjoy using the steam room but their eucalyptus (?) steam room was addictive. I was planning to have lunch in the spa but I think I drank too much water so wasn't hungry. The ONLY downside of my entire day at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua spa was that the jacuzzi water could have been hotter. It was between lukewarm and hot. To me jacuzzis should be so hot that you have to get out after several minutes to cool down. Other than that I can't wait for my next spa day at the Ritz (Kapalua). If you are coming to Maui and looking to get pampered for a while, I 100% recommend the spa at the Ritz-Carlton. My mom and I both opted for the 80 minute lomi lomi massage. My massage therapist was Piper, she was so nice and professional and gave me a great massage, it was so relaxing and she worked out all of my kinks (which I have a-plenty). My mom really enjoyed her massage too. After the massage, we were able to use all the spa facilities. I have never been to a fancy spa like this before, and I was astounded by all the amenities! I felt like Harry Potter when he uses the prefects bathroom in the Goblet of Fire. Disposable razors, toothbrushes w/ mini toothpaste (how did they know I didn't brush my teeth that day?!!), make-up remover wipes, etc. The steam room was also awesome, they infuse it with eucalyptus smell. I wish I got the name of the spa attendant, she was really nice and was always checking to make sure we had everything we needed. It is pricey, yes, but totally worth it. We spent a total of three hours at the spa and we got out monies worth. Next time I am in Maui I will be sure to get another treatment at the Ritz-Carlton spa! read more

We're staying at the Ritz for our Babymoon and my husband treated me to a prenatal massage for my birthday yesterday. It was by far the best prenatal massage I've ever had! The facilities are nice and very clean. After my massage, I relaxed in the women's relaxation room with a cozy blanket and a cup of tea. Heavenly! Then one of the spa employees came in and offered me a warm neck wrap and eye mask. Top notch service in my book. I also had a shellac manicure which was overpriced, but expected for a luxury hotel spa. It's not the best manicure I've ever had, but the nail technician was so sweet and I enjoyed the treatment. To top off a wonderful morning at the spa, the employee at the front desk had a birthday gift of spa goodies waiting for me as I was leaving. Incredible service! The whole staff made me feel so special and taken care of, which is all anyone wants on their birthday! :) read more

Despite hotel feeling more like a regular Marriott, the spa is really nice! Great, uncrowded locker room and relaxation lounge. Massage was great, although masseuse was a bit chatty. Pedicure was nothing special so I would skip this in favor of massage. Locker room has whirlpool and sauna. Gift shop has Lululemon basics if needed. read more

The Ritz is a great place to relax. A group of us recently came in and got massages. We all had a great time. They were very nice and attentive. Probably some of the best service at a spa. The only thing that kept me for giving them 5 stars is the price. I will definitely be back. read more

we booked the 80 minute deep tissue couples massage for the last day of our stay and loved it!! 1. the people here are great, and service is impeccable! our massages were SO good. both of us wanted stating massages and were very happy with how our knots were gone after the session. 80 minutes flew by. 2. the facilities are so great. not a lot of people around and the toiletries they use are amazing. whatever moisturizer and body scrub they put out, is TOP NOTCH. i don't think i've ever thought twice about moisturizer until now. the showers are awesome as well, the shower was the BEST i've ever used. also a weird thing to say but the water from the shower was so. . soft?? i don't know how else to say it, the water drops were sooo soft haha the whole place is well worth the price and we would have stayed around longer if we didn't have to leave! read more

Fantastic! One of the most pampering and decadent experiences I've ever had. My husband got the Head Hands and Feet massage while I got the Organics Facial. We were both very satisfied it is a very fancy environment and we were glad we could use the spa the entire day of our treatments including gender separate whirlpool, sauna, steam room, relaxation lounge, and showers infused with vitamin C and aromatherapy. read more
