Only giving this place 3 stars because of Celeste. I have a dairy and gluten allergy. I was asking Celeste if they could accommodate. Through some process of elimination, her and I found something I could eat. The cook when I left said to my family "who does she think she is asking if we could just NOT use butter. We can't accommodate her allergies". Personally I get horrible reactions to dairy and gluten and become sick for days (if you have them YOU KNOW). So my family told me when they met me on the patio. Celeste came out and apologized for HIS behavior and said she was speaking to her manager. She was very promising that me meal was cooked safely and she was right I had zero reactions. I decided to drop in for breakfast after being told by a few people that breakfast is delicious, but not to expect too much from the atmosphere and surroundings. All four of us went to this place on a Sunday morning. There were three tables in the place and everyone was served food. Outside in the patio there were two tables with people sitting and eating as well. When we were greeted by the host-server, she said it would be a self -serve/come to the counter and order your food situation. When the food is ready, she will bring it to us. She also stated that it would take between 45 minutes to 1 hour before the food would be ready upon time of ordering. Save your money and time and go eat at STAR BURGER! They need to explain WHY it would take ONE HOUR to get served food when there is hardly anyone there. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN! read more

My friend and I checked out this spot for Sunday breakfast. We got there a little after 8 am, easy seating either inside or out on the dog friendly patio. Relatively quick service and tasty fresh food from a simple no frills menu. My friend had the breakfast burrito no bacon with a side of salsa and I had the scramble with eggs, potatoes, ham, Ortega chiles and cheese. Mine was delicious! What a great location, and the food and service were awesome as well! Indoor dining or you can eat on the patio with a great view of the golf course. We ordered the patty melt and the tuna melt. Probably the best tuna Melt I ever had, and the patty melt looked and tasted amazing. They don't have fries, Unfortunately, but their potato salad was super good. My wife and I were ending our trip to Yucca Valley and wanted a quick breakfast option before starting back home. Found this place on yelp and decided to try it out. Unprofessional attitude when answering questions about dine-in options. Clearly tables and chairs were set out and spaced out with social distancing in mind, but when asked if dining in was an option, the cashier just shook her head slowly without a word. When asked if we can sit outside with the heater on, she simply said she doesn't know how to turn the heaters on, when in fact there was already a guest outside eating with one on. Not exactly sure what the issue was but no explanations were given and no attempts to help out with any suggestions. We were hungry paying customers willing to purchase a product that they were providing. Their only saving grace was that the food was not half bad for the price so I gave one more star. Will not be going back or recommending to anyone as this is presumably what she wanted. read more

We had to really look for it on our way to Joshua Tree, but it was wonderful. It was very clean, cook to order, and the food was amazing! Two of us had the Patty Melt, one the breakfast burrito. Both were excellent. Sándwiches did not come with fries, just macaroni salad, potato salad or chips. The macaroni salad was very good, but fries would have been better. Great staff can really make a dining experience, and The Roost has some of the friendliest, most outgoing people. We would come back for that alone, and the fact that the food is amazing means we've found one of our new favorite lunch places! We checked out The Roost yesterday when my sister and her boyfriend came to visit from out of state. We're renting a place just down the street, but didn't even realize this place was right in the neighborhood! I admit I was expecting more of a "traditional" restaurant, and when we first stepped inside, the golf clubhouse vibe kind of threw us off a bit... but the amazing smells coming from the kitchen reassured us immediately, and we placed our orders with confidence. The staff were welcoming and fun to chat with, offering great menu suggestions and also playfully teasing my boyfriend for passing on the ortega chilis for his panini. We sat on the patio with a lovely view of the golf course, and our food arrived quickly. I had the cheese burger and it was delicious. A generously thick patty, pleasantly seasoned and cooked to perfection. I had asked for extra pickles, and I feel like this place really understands me... Unlike most places that will give you ONE extra slice, The Roost really delivered on the EXTRA pickles! :) My sister is a vegetarian and can be very picky about foods, but she devoured her veggie burger. After having some local restaurant disappointments we said let's finally try The Roost. No disappointment there. My husband said the sautéed cod he ordered was the best he ever had. He ordered risotto with it and that was great as well. I'm not a risotto fan, but I tasted his and it was very good. I ordered prime rib that I haven't gotten in our area since Carrow's closed (they had great prime rib actually) and it was good. I love au gratin potatoes and The Roost's were very good. Dinners came with fresh green beans, personally I like old school soft vegetables, but these were good in the way vegetables are cooked now. We loved the vanilla bean cheesecake, but will have to get there earlier to try the berry cobbler, they were all out. Service was excellent and very attentive. All in all, very pleased after having disappointing experiences at both the Joshua Tree Saloon and Pappy & Harriet's lately. read more

Decided to take a trip to see the new Hawk's Landing Golf Club in Yucca Valley, CA. What a Beautiful Place!! Tried The Roost Cafe! It was Delish! Had the Ham and Swiss Panini. Yum! Ok so it's new & after the $3.50 for a beer in the can ! We decided a no on the food / sandwiches. ..the did not have fries just chips & a few of my friends were leaving & said pass on the food....so we got 2 beers in a can Bud Lite & Coors Lite that was $7 !!! Tim and his staff go above and beyond to ensure you are satisfied and well taken care of. The lady who gave them 2 stars is "Cra - Cra". Select anything on the menu, you will be pleasantly surprised. The Flat Iron Steak and/or the Salmon are awesome!!! A meal you would find on the strip in Palm Springs but at a greater cost. The desserts are the bomb as well. Any of the cheese cakes are delicious. Like I said if you miss the old Road House or Bistro 29, a visit to The Roost is a must. By the way, you have the choice to dine inside or on the patio. I am giving this place 2 stars because of the setting. It was so peaceful and serene. I was planning to bring friends and come for breakfast regularly. I thought it was quiet, because it is so hard to find. It is not where my GPS says, in a house, but on the golf course. I ordered bacon and eggs, with oj and sourdough toast and went and sat on the patio. It was SO nice. That was where it ended, The toast, while decent bread, was no longer warm, not even warm enough to melt the butter. The eggs were fine. The bacon was weird, odd pieces. Shreds actually. Not even a whole slice. It maybe added up to 2 very old dry slices of bacon. Then, the potatoes! I don't get how they took potatoes, didn't even bother to peel them, and maybe boiled, or roasted them to get them cooked, but never actually fried them. I don't know? I was the only person there!! How could they serve something this sub par? I should have asked for my money back, but I felt sorry for them. It's really too bad, the setting is excellent. read more

I was so looking forward to dining at The Roost. We decided that this was the ideal setting for me and husband to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We told our neighbors about the restaurant and said if this was a good experience we would get a group together and dine but we wanted to try the restaurant first. I called two weeks prior to our anniversary and left a message on their machine; when no one returned my call, I called them and spoke to a very nice woman and asked if reservations were necessary. She stated, just to be on "the safe side" we should make a reservation. She also took special notice that it was our anniversary and we made a reservation for 6:30 p.m. on October 13. Upon arrival, we noticed many cars in the parking lot and we commented that we were glad we made that reservation. Once we arrived at the entrance there was a handwritten note on the door stating that the restaurant was closed due to a private party. We were beyond disappointed and spoke to "Tim" - the manager who was apologetic and said he would buy us a glass of wine next time we came. There won't be a next time. This date was the night after the big storm we had in Yucca Valley and the streets were a disaster. We didn't want to drive down the hill to the low desert. What a disappointment. read more

This quaint restaurant is a little gem located at Hawk's Landing Golf Course.. My husband and I go there when we want to have a nice evening with a bottle of wine, great food and conversation and linen table cloths. The chef is outstanding and Tim, the manager, (who deserves a raise) always makes us feel welcome. Just be sure to call first as they also host weddings, anniversary parties, etc. and you may arrive and find a private party occurring.
