The Roost at Hawks Landing Golf Course

Fantastic for a casual breakfast. Massive outdoor patio with a beautiful view of the golf course and the hills behind it. Very inexpensive and nice people working there. My breakfast was a good size portion. I asked for salsa with my eggs. They brought me some delicious homemade salsa. Highly recommend. Very convenient big parking lot and such a pleasant environment. They have a fairly big menu for breakfast and lunch.

We had nearly 20 of us at The Roost tonight for dinner and everything was spot on! The food was fabulous- all fresh, from scratch including the cheesecakes baked on site (how did we not get a photo). Full bar! Great vibes. And the food was delicious. Highly recommend.

It's our first time visiting Joshua Tree. After driving around the park & enjoying the view for almost 4 hours, we decided to have a nice dinner. Not just burger or Fastfood, someplace where we could sit down and enjoy the food. Found The Roost on Yelp & It didn't disappoint!!! We ate outside facing the golf course & a nice view of the mountains. The food was Great!!! We had Caesar's salad, a full slab of ribs that we split (comes with macaroni salad & beans), vanilla cheesecake to cleanse the palate plus the margarita & the beer .... All for only $50!!! Another plus, our server was very nice!!!

Gorgeous spot and amazing Friday night experience. If you go make sure to call ahead and get a reservation. I went in for my 730 reservation on Friday. Showed up at 715 and they were able to seat and serve me right away. If you go Friday you definitely have to get the prime rib dinner for $30. It was a little pricey but so good! My best meal in the area that weekend. They had an amazing singer and guitar playing there, incredible sunset over the course and the service was quick and friendly. I got the key lime cheesecake for dessert which was the best key lime dessert I've had but was expensive for a the tiny piece I got.

Love eating here. Have had lunch and breakfast here quite a few times. Don't normally do dinner, but we finally did last Friday. Prime rib was awesome. Service was pretty good. The owner is a sweetheart and it's always nice to see an owner in an establishment talking to guests. I saw lots of dishes hitting other tables that looked amazing. Guess I'm gonna have to start coming more for dinner to eat through the menu. Definitely be back.

Not fancy, but homespun and comfortable.

We tried their New Years dinner for two and as others have stated, the prime rib was amazing. The facility is very casual, but everything was served at the right temperature and tasted good. Tim, our server, was attentive and kind enough to take a photo of us with my camera and also to pose for a picture to post here. I liked the live music very much, which is remarkable, given that I usually don't care much for what passes for entertainment at this sort of event.

The food at the Roost is consistently fresh and delicious. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality.

Are they open on Thanksgiving evening?

    No, they are not.

Do you have to have golf membership to dine there?

No, we just went in. I think they like outside diners.

The ribs were tender with a nice smoky flavor and came off the bone clean. The tri tip was just as solid, juicy and well seasoned with that classic barbecue taste. The mac and cheese was creamy and comforting, and the baked beans had a good balance of sweet and savory. The lemonade was cold and refreshing and worked well with the meal. The atmosphere is a big part of the experience. Rustic, lively, and full of character. It feels like a true desert spot with history behind it. The place can get busy, but the staff kept things moving and were friendly throughout. This place loves to its hype. Definitely more than just a meal. It's the kind of place you go for the full experience, and I'd come back again.

When we arrived, staff was running all around us and I mean literally avoiding eye contact to not help us. We got one of their attentions and were able to get our names down, they apparently only do pen and paper for their list. During the wait we walked around pioneer town and took some pictures then made our way back just in time. Didn't matter much because as soon as we sat down, all the staff ignored us again. We were able to put in our orders and that was the last time we saw our waitress until the bill came. Other people brought our food, I had over cooked steak with cold mashed potatoes. The table had the strangest Mac and cheese and loaded fries that tasted microwaved. The decor was okay, the lights were very low and it made it hard to see the menu. I would overall skip this restaurant if I had the chance.
