Although, both bowls were on the salty side today. What was weird is the bartender including a 15% service charge on the bill w/o saying anything. I ate alone during my lunch break at the bar with only 1 other couple at the other end of the bar. It was not crowded at all. After I asked him if that was a 15% tip, he confirmed it and said he can take it off. Man, there is just something about the Rouxpour that I love. At their price point, I can't experience it often, but if you want upscale cajun/creole food, you can't go wrong with their offerings. My favorite items here have to be their gumbo and boudin balls. The gumbo comes out thick, with a darker roux and more spice than you'll find at more casual places like Rajun Cajun or Boudreaux. I'm torn between whether I like this place or BB's more, but BB's is more classic cajun and I believe this to be more of a creole style. I could be wrong. The boudin balls are large, and while they are an appetizer, they could arguably serve as an entree if you start with a bowl of the gumbo. My wife and I end up splitting them whenever we come by to eat. Between two bowls of gumbo and an order of boudin balls, we can have lunch at a reasonable price point over here whenever we need a break. read more

We had to ask for our soda after out entrée were served. Food was mediocre definitely not worth the price for quality or portion. We were seated in the dining room, but what was apparent that the bar absorbed priority service. We were checked on 3 times. My issue is mainly with the quality of table service. Since gratuities 15% is included the service must reflect quality and that is just not happening. At the end of the meal I asked to speak to a manager and our waitress came back to the table as if she was I told her I was unhappy about service and why. Minutes later the actual manager walked by the table adjacent , I flagged her down asking if she was the manager. Apparently if I hadnt done so I wouldn't have talked to a manager at all. I explained how rude our server was, that I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone especially after asking to speak to management and literally being ignored. I said would be leaving a review. No offer of consideration was made. I called at 9 AM to make a reservation for my mother's birthday. The reservation was for 10 people. I was told that I would have to complete a reservation form in order to make the reservation. When I received the reservation and read over it. I changed my mind completely because this is the most ridiculous contract I've ever seen. Not only do you have to pay $10 per seat if someone cancels on you, you also have to pay 2.50 per guest to serve your very own cake. That is ridiculous. Went for happy hour on a Friday, their happy hour takes like $1 or so off of the regular price so it really doesn't make too much of a difference if you miss. I enjoyed the vibe in there. My friend, for whatever reason, really wanted to try chargrilled oysters after work so we decided to give them a try. We got the Spinach Madeline Chargrilled and Oysters Royal. Both were so stuffed with toppings, we really could've just gotten that and been satisfied. I preferred the spinach out of the two but my friend got her fix and enjoyed trying them. The deviled eggs were my favorite! I'd definitely recommend trying them. The boudin balls were decent but I'm a kinda tough critic for boudin. I also ordered a blueberry martini, which was refreshingly sweet but not too overpowering. If you're not big into the taste of alcohol this drink might be the move, however next time I would like to try one of their stronger cocktails. I came here as part of a work event that rented out their private space. Staff was really professional, friendly, and attentive. They had organized a pre-selection of cocktails and apps, all of which were delicious - these were some serious appetizers! Really good, hearty, and generous in portion. Everyone had a great time. Rouxpour is a New Orleans stylized restaurant with pretty good food and excellent cocktails. The room is decorated à la NOLA. City scenes with photos of Jazz and Blues artists, Mardi Gras and ... you get the picture. Located in the Memorial City Mall, this location is a prime for any restaurant. We favor the Rouxpour in Cinco at the La Centerra Mall. I think I still rate them five stars. But this Rouxpour has some problems. Problem one: the restaurant adds a 15% service charge with no explanation. I asked my server if this was a tip and was told "no but I get most of it". So now I have to decide if I add a 5 or what percent tip? If answer is: "add a full tip"; then the restaurant is falsely reporting their menu prices. If answer is: "this is to insure service gets a tip"; then the restaurant should call the 15% a gratuity and make that clear. Problem two: under staffed. We came in a noon on the Friday before thanksgiving. A Mall restaurant should be staffed to the max in order to reap holiday revenues. But we sat ignored for twenty minutes and even on ordering we waited a long time for a simple salad dish. We were so disappointed. I'm so obsessed with this location! I've been to other locations and this one just does something to me. Nestled in the crosshairs of the memorial city mall with a nice outside area to sit on the patio and gaze over, Rouxpour is a perfect afternoon, New Orleans guided lunch spot destination! I have taken a few friends of mine here, and we've always had a nice booth facing outside. This time myself, and my friends sat at the bar. Our bartender was very attentive immediately as we sat down and started us off with waters and a drink within the first four minutes. I like that the menu is not overly done some restaurants get a little bit aggressive and wants everything on the menu, and that can be overwhelming. This menu was well thought over and planned. Obviously, people come here for the rapport of the oysters. Their oysters are amazing! We enjoyed a dozen of six and six spinach and Rockefeller. Excellent. The crawfish étouffée was yummy. This wasn't a full meal visit for us, just a light bite before an event but I have had several items on the menu and everything is GOOD! Service all around was great. Name tags would be great! I wish I could tell you what my bartenders name was. Lovely lady! Bathrooms were well lit, bright and clean. Even a nice mirror to check yourself before exiting the ladies room. This place is just enough upscale without being over top. You should feel happy on date night to dress up a little and make it a fancy dinner. Expect to spend about $70-120 on two people. A group of us celebrated a birthday brunch here. It was really nice and food was amazing. Our server started out good but as more customers came in, we had to ask her for items more than once. If you have a large party of 12 then you shouldn't be waiting on a lot of other tables at the same time. They do not give separate checks, they had everyone's orders on 4 separate checks. They even charged $20 for bringing in cupcakes. It's not like they had an entire cake to cut. All she did was bring us plates for the cupcakes. Although, I can't say enough about their seafood gumbo. Excellence at its best! People who know me know that I loves me some seafood. Boiled Crawfish is my first love, Shrimp, and then Chargrilled Oysters. Since I visited Neyows in New Orleans some years ago, I'm hooked. I used to frequently go to the Rouxpour Sugarland location, and I loved it until I just got tired of all of their food and drink inconsistencies amongst other changes over the years. I divorced them in April of 2023. Enough about that location. Memorial City is the location that I patronize now! I usually order the same items, which are the dozen Oyster's Bienville, a cup of Seafood Gumbo, and the delectable Crabcake. This was our 2nd time here for brunch (both times at this location) and we absolutely love the Rouxpour! The service has been amazing each time we came. We got greeted and seated as soon as we walked through the door. The ambiance is really nice, welcoming, and aesthetically pleasing. Very spacious seating both indoor and outdoor with a large bar area. We sat outside this time & the staff was able to turn on the heaters for us. We always start off with the mimosa carafe, and it's the perfect amount. The food was impeccable! We always order the deviled eggs and the boudin link, it is flavored to perfection. I ordered the Pain Perdu & Fried Chicken (which is the French toast with chicken tenders), my partner ordered the Crawfish Étouffée and my dad ordered the French Quarter Fried Eggs & Boudin. This is solely based off customer service. This used to be one of my favorite places to go especially for happy hour, but this place has lost my respect and also has lost my business. I'm sure that means absolutely nothing to the owner or the manager but I'm gonna share my experience anyway. Been coming here for years. Prefer the memorial city location over any other because the others aren't as good. So apparently a new dress code has been implemented that I had no knowledge of. I literally got a pedicure today and walked in with thong flip flops on to sit at the bar and have a quick drink and was quickly chased down by a hostess who told me I couldn't be in the restaurant due to my shoes being flip-flops. I told her just bring a manager because you can't be serious. I've never heard of this before. So the manager says this is a new thing that they implemented a few weeks ago. I literally said I'm here to have one drink sit at the bar he told me I wasn't gonna be able to do that unless I change my shoes. He said for anyone to wear flip-flops in the restaurant the flip-flops have to have a strap in the back. Saw women who were in the restaurant who were wearing flip flops that did not have straps in the back. I told him I was gonna go around and take photos of it and he told me I wasn't allowed to do that and that he was going to security on me and have me removed. I told him that that was fine and I went and I did my lap and took pictures of people who did not have a strap on the back. I told him if I were wearing designer, flip-flops or if I were wearing sandals that had rhinestones on it you guys wouldn't say anything but because they are Old Navy you have a problem with it. He told me we must've let some people slip through the cracks, which is BS. If you're saying a shoe needs to have a strap on the back then be consistent if you're saying, you can wear sandals and flip-flops as long as they dressy and have a design to it, that's a different story as well. I told him well the right thing to do would be to say I understand this is new and you can go ahead and have a seat and have your drink, but he told me he can't bend the rules for me that if he does it for me that he hast to do it for everyone. Just complete and utter BS. I'm driving from the other side of town and I literally have no other shoes to put on I had sneakers in the car but again I had a pedicure. My toes were wet so I'm not gonna put those on people need to realize they need to be accommodating especially for people who have nothing but loyal service. We had a birthday party of 8 They didn't have a table to accommodate us nor would they move tables together to allow us to sit together. Sat us in the Bar area! (When walking to the restroom- saw a table to 8 set up, no one sitting there) I made a cake for my friend and they said if I bring it in, even if they don't cut it, they WILL charge a cake cutting fee. And I can't even have it sitting at the table. Then once we asked for our checks, they told us of a no-splitting check fee policy. Nowhere on any menu or posted in the restaurant does it say you can't split checks . I've been to restaurants that displayed it. This is No 5 star restaurant, it's attached to a MALL for goodness sake and they act like they are some white table 5 star establishment. Chicken in salad was so dry Barely any dressing Gumbo was good Service was sweet I liked the half of bottle of wine. The last time I was at Rouxpour was about 10 years ago in Sugarland, whatever I ordered didn't impress me enough to commute from NW Houston to go again. Came to this location yesterday with friends, I gave 2 stars, 1 for being able to be seated right away during brunch time and the other for the amazing crawfish etouffee. What turned me off from ever going again was #1 they have a dress code.....that seems to only be honored at the discretion of whoever is working the hostess area, but why is there a dress code at a restaurant that is attached to the mall?? You're bound to get people in there dressed in a little of everything? Is it because they're in the Energy Corridor and trying to maintain a level of allure that isn't necessary? It's not that serious, this isn't a high-end steak restaurant, it's not a high-end restaurant period. #2 why is there a service charge for 1 person sitting the bar for ONE DRINK??And this it not written anywhere.....1st of all, nothing I got warranted a service charge, the bartender seemed halfway welcoming, she said hello and then walked away after handing me menus, she came back after about 5 minutes and took my order. I immediately got annoyed watching her use the jiggers, which, aren't even full shots. I paid $17 for basically a cup of Minute Maid orange juice. For the price point of their drinks, they should pack more of a punch. Also, for $24 for a carafe of a mimosa, then to turn around and be told it is an extra $10 to mix flavors of juice is absolutely ridiculous and insulting, considering all they do is pour the juice and champagne in a carafe. Came here today (Wednesday December 4) because I placed an online order on their website. Order was placed at 7:00pm and I walk-in at 7:15pm. Three employees at the front yet no one greeted me. I advise them that I'm there to pick up an order that I placed online and the girl looks at me all confused. I had to show her the order confirmation via email. She asked me what my name is she steps away for a few minutes and then she comes back and totally forgets about me so I ask again where is my order? She asked my name again! Mind you it's a weekday and it's raining outside so the restaurant is not busy at all so how could she forget my name and what I'm there for in the span of a few minutes! I go outside check on my kids and come back and see a bag thinking it's my order. She tells me no and go to the bar. I go to the bar and stand there for about five minutes while the bartender working a guy with glasses just ignores me until I tell him I'm there for a pick up order. I placed my order at 7 PM and I didn't get my food until after 7:30 PM I paid $25 for basic gumbo. A waste of my time and money. Never again read more
