Fourth Fridays! The rub truck is LEGIT!

Checked out The Rub food truck at fourth fridays in downtown Olathe. Food came out super quick, no wait and very delicious!

Staff was great with what their favorite meat was. Also gave me a sample of one of the others for I could try it. BBq was cooked well and had a good bark. Had a very good seasoning.

Amazing food with great portions! I love the signature Mac & cheese bowl. This is hands down my favorite BBQ in KC!

We came here for dinner after working out at Genesis gym across the street. The customer service from the gentleman behind the counter serving the food was exceptional. He knows the product and is great at making recommendations. Very helpful. The vibe is great. Music playing in the background and large tvs with sports on. It's a relaxed casual atmosphere. You come in order at the counter and sit down with your food. There is a fountain drink machine. It's a Pepsi restaurant and has sweet and unsweet tea. The ribs were tender and really good. The burnt ends were plentiful and good flavor. The original barbecue sauce was my go to. The sweet sauce was not bad. I enjoyed the relaxed environment and look forward to trying one of their bowls next time. Everyone that works there is kind and friendly.

You've tried the rest, now try the best ribs! Fall off the bone tender. Smoked just right. I love the sweet BBQ sauce. Friday's they have a special price for 1/2 slab of ribs and a side.

I was a kc joes ride or die until I had my last first date here and I am HOOKED! Best flavor and moist meat ever. I actually had kc joes last week because I was close to one and couldn't eat it, it was so salty and dry compared. I'm now spoiled and a die hard fan. But don't want too many to know. Or they will be overly busy too. I love you guys!!!! Best slaw and onion straws too.

Perfect place for a family meal !!

I'm vegetarian & I always find something great to eat here. My boyfriend LOVES just about anything here & he's super picky but a big meat eater. I'd recommend this place to just about anyone I know. Food is always awesome & the service is unmatched. The ambiance is super cute but also your typical bbq family restaurant, they have a really cool photo wall with a picture of all their kiddos so it's definitely family friendly plus a great place to hang out.

Ok, KC outsiders should probably not rate KC BBQ places but I give this a 4 of 5. Great service and the ribs were great but my idea of great is good rub and fall off the bone so mission accomplished. I dipped in the sauce which I thought was good. Sides were great, fries were insane...fresh and crispy. Only room for improvement is beer choice. My bud had the burnt ends, and he is local and the lasted 5 min. Minnesota BBQ guy approves

Brisket was cold and tasted like a oven cooked roast. Rids were over cooked and dry. Waisted my money.

I've found our new favorite restaurant for our weekly BBQ fix at J's BBQ! This was my second visit…read morein three weeks, and I can't rave enough about the food, ambiance, and service. My first trip was with my teenage son who loves ribs. We went for their unbeatable Wednesday/Saturday $18 full rack rib special. We shared the ribs and still had plenty left to take home. The meat was tender, smoky, and perfectly cooked. The BBQ beans were outstanding with just the right balance of smokiness and sweetness, and the seasoned crinkle-cut fries were addictive. This past weekend I brought the whole family of five. We're longtime regulars at KC Joe's, so I was a little nervous about a potential mutiny , but everyone loved it! My wife's face lit up the moment we walked in. She said it felt like a cozy restaurant we'd stumble upon while on vacation. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming with plenty of comfortable booths, warm lighting, and that perfect smoky BBQ aroma that hits you right when you enter. I went with the sausage and brisket combo, and it easily holds its own against most of the BBQ I grew up eating in Texas. One child ordered the kid's hot dog meal, and it was one of the best hot dogs I've tasted. Another got the brisket "Sloppy Mess" sandwich, and my wife had the shredded pork sandwich. Every single plate was a hit, and the whole family agreed we've found a new favorite. The owner was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with us about how he opened the restaurant. It's always great to see that kind of passion! My only feedback is that I wish they stayed open a bit later. They close at 7pm on Sundays and 8pm the rest of the week. With a 20-minute drive from Overland Park and a family of five to wrangle, we could roll up right around closing time. A little extra time would make it perfect which I anticipate will happen the more people discover them. All in all, J's BBQ has officially earned a regular spot in our weekly rotation. If you're in the area and craving quality BBQ in a family-friendly setting, do yourself a favor and check it out!

You order at the counter and are given a number to take to your table while you wait for your food. I ordered The Bella. This was a comically large sandwich. The burnt ends were HUGE! It was impossible to eat as a sandwich so I took it apart and cut up the burnt ends. All the food was solid and I really liked the hot bbq sauce. I left completely full finishing my meal. I would lean on ordering something else when I return as the sandwich was just impossible to eat as a sandwich for me. I really want to try the ribs but they were sold out. So I know for next time to come early.

As you walk in you're immediately greeted with a welcome and today's specials. Staff is honest and makes great suggestions. "To go" materials are easily accessible cause you can't really finish your meal (I mean you can, but you better carve out some time for a nap!). They offer catering for celebrations, parties, graduations, or anything you could think of! Place was very clean, and comfortable. While every bbq place in KC offers their own spin, many of which are great, this place just hits better!! It just feels like a small town bbq spot that is hidden; like a speak-easy of BBQ! For my sides, I got Mac and cheese, cheesy corn and potato salad. Turkey sandwich was good, per le bf. It had a good smokey flavor and wasn't dry! My brisket was also quite moist with minimal fatty parts, which is what I prefer. Sausage was ok, had to really chew into it. What I'm most disappointed about is the ribs. The ribs were good, but for almost $20, I got 3 pieces. They stated for the ribs plate, you'd get about 3 or 4, depending on the weight, but it would be nice to note that down somewhere that when paying $20, expect 3 pieces. Ive gotten double that and about the same price at other bbq spots, hence my disappointed and surprised when opening the container. Mac and cheese had huge shell noodles, which was cool but on the watery side. Potato salad was decent, got the job done but a little bland. Sauces are also on the tangy side, and if you're a sweet bbq sauce gal like me, it wasn't hitting the spot. Overall was nice giving a try, but will prob be going elsewhere for my bbq needs!

The sausage was good, and I got both burnt ends -- pork and beef -- the pork being the fattier, richer of the two, both excellent in their own way. The shrimp was yummy, and the brisket delivered as always. Finished with the carrot cake, served warm, which was a really nice touch. Service was outstanding. Only knock is the atmosphere -- it was loud, with music playing on top of the noise, and the seating felt really crammed in, which made the space feel a bit tight and uncomfortable.

We were seated at a booth and immediately the waitress came over and asked for a drink order. We looked over our menus and made our selections. Our waitress was nice and was generally attentive. My husband ordered the killer combo sandwich and he did not order any sides because the sandwich is quite large. It comes with a choice of two meets with a pickle on top. I ordered the ribs with two sides, which were coleslaw and potato salad. She brought out the food, and I had a slice of bread on top of my ribs, which I was not happy about since I have celiac. Typically most barbecue places if they serve bread will serve it on the side, not smack dab on top of the meal. I should've also told her no bread, but I wasn't expecting it to be on top of it. I ended up just giving the top ribs to my husband since I usually don't finish my ribs anyways. The ribs were barely lukewarm, unfortunately. Their sauce is a sweeter sauce, which I prefer, but I thought it was just OK. The ribs were generally fine and the coleslaw was good and so was the potato salad. I would say out of the whole meal the potato salad was the best. My husband was not happy with his sandwich because the beef was kind of dried out. He had been to this restaurant once before as a guest of a friend, and at that time, the beef was more tender and thicker sliced. I thought that the rib plate meal was reasonable at $17 with two sides. The sandwich by itself was $18 which wasn't that great considering the meat was dried out. It was just a casual restaurant with a homestyle feel to it. It was clean and so were the restrooms. We would not particularly go back just because the main thing which is a barbecue it was just OK.
