The place was buzzing with excitement as people w with family and friends for dinner! Lina T. provided fast and friendly service. She was so kind and knowledgeable! She quickly took our drink and meal orders. The food came out quickly and was served fresh!! It was so well orchestrated how multiple servers quickly passed out entrees so adeptly and masterfully! We ordered the Beef Stroganoff, the filet mignon, the salmon salad and the Scotch Egg! I loved my salmon salad!! It was such a generous serving of perfectly cooked salmon atop a bed of fresh greens and candied pecans!! It was so filling!! We celebrated our friend's birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner experience!! Highly recommend this wonderful place!!!

We were here on assignment and a friend recommended this place for good comfort food. It was quiet Tuesday so we were greeted and widely seated. The place has a bar feel and casual. Upon seating, our waitress Faith came, introduced herself, and took our order drinks while we look over the menu. We decided both brunch & lunch. In a short wait everything came out hot. Overall the service was great, food delicious & great for group casual dining.

Nothing but great service from the moment we arrived. This is a very cutesy and cozy establishment. There's adequate seating with two levels and a patio (you don't feel on top of each other). I was happy they accepted reservations. Kimberli B., our waitress, was a gym! Very attentive and kind. Our party ordered the Brussel Sprouts, Shrimp and Grits, Filet Mignon Benedict, Monte Cristo. Everyone loved the smokey flavor of the Brussels. The shrimp and grits were very filling and full of flavor w/ a kick. My friend said, "The cream sauce is a chef's kiss!" Monte Cristo was flavorful with a nice sweetness to it that melts in your mouth. My other friend stated the Filet Mignon Benedict is "Heaven in your mouth!" Suggestion: Order it medium well. She ordered it medium and it came out medium rare (still good). Everyone was full and happy from their meals!

I met my mom and dad here on a Saturday morning the day before Mother's Day. Luckily they had a reservation cause it was quite busy, but I loved the interior decor. Our waitress came over quickly and I ordered a creamsickle crush, which was delicious. I also ordered an eggs Benedict, which was also delicious and a large portion that I was able to take home and eat for another meal. We had a great time. The service was amazing and look forward to going back!

We made a special trip to Rustic Spoon for my husband's birthday because their website listed scotch eggs, which was something he'd been craving forever and that we hadn't been able to find anywhere around town. It happened to be Restaurant Week, which made us a little nervous, but it ended up being totally fine. The dining room never felt overly crowded, the noise level was comfortable, and having the Restaurant Week prix fixe, drink specials, and regular menu all available gave us plenty of options without feeling overwhelming. One small note: the plastic logo cups served with the water decanter felt a little out of place. They were a bit sharp on the lips and didn't quite match the rest of the dining experience. Minor detail, but noticeable. The drinks, however, were excellent. On our server's recommendation, my husband ordered the Gingerbread Old Fashioned and I had the Salted Caramel Martini. Both were seasonal specials and both were fantastic. When we asked about the scotch eggs, our server explained they're normally a brunch-only item. We were a little disappointed (and may have made a few pouty faces while explaining we'd come specifically for them for his birthday), but we quickly let it go, it obviously wasn't her fault. What we didn't realize was that she went back and told the kitchen manager that it was his birthday and that we'd made the trip just for those scotch eggs. Since the kitchen wasn't slammed, they decided to make them anyway and surprised us with an order. We were honestly floored. My husband was thrilled. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. And the scotch eggs were exactly what he'd been hoping for! They were crispy on the outside with a rich, savory center. For entrées, his Nashville Hot Chicken was juicy with the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. My Haystack Burger was stacked and delicious, though the BBQ sauce was strong enough to overshadow the pickled green tomato a bit. The fries were fantastic - crispy, battered, and perfect from first bite to last. Our server checked in at all the right times and kept drinks refilled without us needing to ask. The fact that she went out of her way to do something special during one of the busiest weeks on a restaurant's calendar says a lot about both her and the restaurant. Rustic Spoon is the kind of place that works just as well for a casual date night as it does for a birthday dinner or a night out with friends.

The Rustic Spoon is a must visit! The food is absolutely delicious. The chicken and waffle oh my goodness delicious perfectly crispy on the outside, just how I like my waffle. The chicken is a boneless thigh tender and juicy. My sister said the seafood omelette was full of good seafood very refreshing and flavorful. Also, while I didn't order the potatoes but I tried them from another plate at the table and oh my goodness I love good potatoes. The atmosphere was quiet and spacious, making it a great place to enjoy a relaxing meal. The service was exceptional, friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and great service. I can't wait to return!

    Lemosa

This place is amazing. Had the stuffed French toast and Lemosa for brunch and it was sooooo friggn awesome. The service was on point and the outside dining area was kept clean by attentitive staff. Note: If you like teeny tiny bites look elsewhere. The food is generous and tasteful and an experience in itself. I would come back here again when in town

I decided to give Rustic Spoon another try after not being impressed with my Cuban Sandwich in my first visit. Both visits the service was great! The staff were inviting and friendly. It was a cold day so we asked to be near a heater vent and they offered for us to sit near the fire place. Now let's get to what this review is really about THE STUFFED FRENCH TOAST! It had a nice presentation and was absolutely delicious! It was more of a desert so I got Brussels sprouts to balance it out . Both entrees could have feed 3 ppl.

    Smash Burger

The Rustic Spoon is a local favorite and was quite busy during Saturday lunch. The staff were upbeat and took good care of us. I ordered the Smash Burger and my son ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and the Mac n Cheese. Our food was hot and came out promptly. My son said the sandwich was the best Chicken Sandwich he has tried in Virginia. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Stopped by for a burger and a beer to drown in my solitude. Had great service. Prompt, attentive and genuine. Only downside was some pretentious guy named Jeff kept whining about the hostess and the service being "special needs" because he couldn't get his group prompt service under 15 minutes on a special holiday. If it wasn't for some derogative guy whining off the bell about how the service wasn't up to par every couple minutes I'd have enjoyed what would've been quite a depressing day for me. Other than that, burger was damn heavenly. Beer was cold and good. Service was grand. Some people just ruin it for others. Great spot, great burger, good beer and good folks. B.W.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

Let's check it out shall we? We were seated a minute after walking in. There were a few people dining inside on this cloudy day. The decor is nice resembling a type of restaurant you may see in New Orleans. Right when I was looking through the menu, I ran into Chef Moe who greeted me with a handshake. It has been years since we last saw each other but the vibes came right back since Sophia and I were long-standing customers. We couldn't talk long since he was busy, but it was great to run into him again smiling from ear to ear seeing me there. Great people indeed. How was the food you might ask? Pretty damn good. We both ordered their fried catfish meals with sides (mine came with fries and sweet cornbread and Sophia's with mashed potatoes and gravy and mac-and-cheese). The fish was seasoned perfectly and was huge. It was big enough to cover a football field (just kidding). The fries, as always, tasted great and the cornbread was delish. The both of us ended up taking home leftovers where the food didn't lose any taste from before. It was so refreshing to stop by after so many years. And it was wonderful seeing Chef Moe continue to bring good vibes to the Norfolk community through his cooking. You know we'll be back soon. Till next time :)

The both of us, well three of us if you count the dog, enjoyed our meals. I went with the doggy-style version of the Chicken n Waffles. This take on the classic dish included: a bacon-infused waffle, fried chicken thigh, sausage gravy, candied bacon, and bourbon maple syrup. Overall, I enjoyed the dish with the small exceptions that the batter made the waffle really heavy for my personal tastes. I'm more of a fan of light, fluffy waffles. Unfortunately, I did not know this at the time, but the kitchen puts the syrup on the waffle for you. Personally, I like to add my own syrup because I do not like too much syrup on my waffles (and pancakes). However, those two minor issues did not take away from the dish. Also, the other aspects of the dish made up for those minor inconveniences. My partner ordered the Pongo, which was served with a fried chicken thigh, cheddar biscuit, scrambled egg, sausage gravy, house potatoes. If you are a fan of Bloody Marys, the restaurant has a selection of 4 or 5 interesting Bloody Marys. I went with the Porky's Revenge, which had bacon-infused vodka, Zing Zang Bloody Mary mix and a bacon-dusted rim. Both of us were quite pleased with our selections. Also, come here hungry because the serving sizes are quite large. Because of the large serving sizes, I thought the prices were relatively fair compared to other places the area. Actually, I would change "fair" to "generous". Both of our dishes were about 17 bucks with the 4ish dollar 'doggy style' add on. Generally speaking, our waitress was really on the ball. Although we were sitting outside, she frequently checked in us and was very professional while being funny. Hopefully, we can make another stop here during our next Va. Beach vacation adventure.

It was also super sweet. My boyfriend tried it and said the same thing. For food, we split two sandwiches: he got the marinated pork and I got the roasted pork. The roasted pork was honestly disappointing--almost all fat. I get that pork has some fat, but this was excessive. Most pieces were barely meat, and the texture was just not good. I ended up picking around it just to eat something. The marinated pork was actually pretty solid. With Misako closed until mid-October (the owners are on a much-deserved vacation), this was an excellent opportunity to try out this Lendy's. Upon arrival, they were setting up for karaoke night (Tuesdays) and there were a few regulars already seated at the bar. This Lendy's appeared bigger than Anchor Allie's that was previously here. It's more spacious - full of games, TV's and the like. I decided to sit at the bar where I was greeted by their bartender, Courtney. Courtney was nice enough, but she was battling a neck injury which, I later learned, was the result of her, "falling down the stairs." That sucks, and she toughed it out simply by showing up for work. I remained patient throughout, but I was left to wonder what caused her to fall down the stairs. Anyways, Courtney took my drink order - Coke and a bottle of Bud Light. I received the Coke almost immediately, but after a few minutes she remembered the beer. She apologized, but it was all good since I was still looking at the menu (the long wait for the beer did factor into me not ordering another round, though). I eventually ordered a dozen wings and potato skins, and proceeded to relax and wait. In the meantime, that's when I noticed Courtney was the only person working the FOH, while the kitchen had one dude doing all the cooking (he was also the food runner). The food took a little time, but actually came out sooner than I anticipated. I chose garlic parm wings, and they were just as good as the wings I've had at the original Lendy's. The potato skins were also excellent, although the cheese could've been melted more. Regardless, the food remained the high point of my visit. I didn't finish either item, so I asked for a togo box and my tab at the same time. This is where my visit became an extended stay as Courtney continued to place me at the back of the line. Courtney took about five minutes to give me a togo box. She gave it to me without my tab, which meant I had to wait again for her to get that to me. In the meantime, she had to knock out orders for the other customers, then had to turn around and take an order for a big party who sat down behind me. The wait was understandable, but I did become antsy. After all that, Courtney gave me my tab, and I plopped down my card immediately so she'd know I was ready to get out of there. The check and my card sat at the edge of the bar for a few minutes before she came back for it. When she did, she ran my card, then proceeded to pour drinks for customers while waiting for the machine to print my receipt. I began to take issue when she stopped to chat with the regulars at the bar as if they were the only people in the restaurant. That lasted a good 5 minutes, then she proceeded to ignore me when one patron from the big party walked up to the bar to ask her for something. At this point, I finally blurted out, "May I have my check? PLEASE?" She had a look on her face that said, "S**t, I forgot," while I gave back a stare similar to Ice Cube in Friday when he said, "Bye, Felicia." Courtney ripped the receipt from that machine, gave that & returned my card, then quickly muttered, "Thank you for your patience." I was ready to turn into a-hole Justin and then gtfo there, but I said nothing, signed my receipt and proceeded to get the hell out. The real issue with this Lendy's is understaffing. My visit was a combination of events - dinner service, happy hour, and karaoke night. How are you not staffed for that? I could tell Courtney knows what's up, but leaving her alone (with just one cook) while working injured obviously resulted in subpar service. At the same time, taking extended time to chat with regulars pissed me off because I was obviously not important enough to receive the same attention. Lendy's, your food is good. But running understaffed and providing inconsistent service is garbage. I want to evenly split my visits to this shopping center between Misako, Lendy's, and Mommy Mom, but omitting Lendy's as a viable option has become easier after this visit. I'll give Lendy's another shot down the line, but if there's only 1 FOH person again when that day comes, I'm walking out. JV
