I hadn't been here since high school with my parents but given their recent renovations outside and advertising on Facebook, I was eager to try again. My friend and I wanted to stop in for a light lunch and a drink on Mother's Day. We knew there was a risk of a wait but the hostess said she could get us right in. The inside has not seen a penny of the money put into the exterior updating but I'm not deducting points for that. The waitress came right over, an older woman, and was friendly enough except that she walked away almost mid sentence EVERY time she interacted with us. I ordered a Bloody Mary (she never asked which kind even though there was an entire special menu for the variations) and the goat cheese salad, my friend ordered the stuffed French toast and a Bloody Mary. The waitress walked away before we could add on anything else. I'm giving two stars for the bloodies and the stuffed French toast, both pretty delicious. But I'm attaching a pic of the salad that they wanted to charge me $14 for. It was a pile of mixed greens on a side plate with a few crumbles of cheese, slab of bread, and dressing. That's it. I wouldn't pay $7 for it. I sent it back and the waitress agreed it was ridiculous, offering to add some more stuff and put it on a bigger plate (????). I declined and we both ordered mimosas. Before we were finished, someone who worked there rudely came over and said that their 1pm reservations were showing up so we needed to leave. Mind you, we got there at 11:45. We have always stopped at the Sagamore Inn on our way onto the cape when we lived in Western Mass and we always had a great meal and the chowder was to die for...so delicious! We are now retired and moved to Yarmouth about a year ago. We decided two weeks ago to head into Sandwich and have lunch at the Sagamore. What the heck happened to this place!? There were four of us. Couldn't wait to get our clam chowder...what a disappointment for all. Slimy clams, raw-ish potatoes, and no flavor. Crab cakes were very dry. Scallops had that tangy taste of being old or frozen. We were so disappointed and embarrassed after bragging to our friends about how great the food was. Never going back. read more

Won't be back. My broiled haddock was not broiled nor even a warm temperature. Mashed potatoes were stone cold...butter wouldn't melt on potatoes...so cold. Hubby's Pot Roast was dry, cold....again mashed potatoes cold...awful. I must say the pickled beets were the rock star of the crappy lunch. The presentation of cold food was indicative of the staff either being over whelmed (there were about 6 diners ...late lunch) or not giving a crap. Server was delightful. Mmmmmm, we came for a late lunch on a Friday and had wonderful food: salad w beets, candied walnuts and pan seared scallops - scallops were to die for!, fried clams w onion rings, mussels in a Bianca sauce - sooo good, pot roast w mashed potatoes and butternut squash. Haven't been here for three or four years so decided to give it a try last night. I had haddock with 2 sides, butternut squash and cole slaw. The server assured me the haddock was freshly caught and delicious. In reality, it was a dried up piece of fish. Previously frozen perhaps??? The squash was lumpy and at room temperature, and the cole slaw was lacking in dressing. My Tangueray and soda with a splash of Rose's lime juice was great. Maybe their strength is in their drinks??? My husband had pot roast and he said it was OK. Finally, we were seated in a HUGE tent with perhaps a dozen 4 tops spaced a good 12' apart. I realize these are difficult times with Covid, but it wouldn't take much to improve the ambiance . read more

During season, they are open for breakfast Friday through Sunday and I love Sunday mornings here lazily eating breakfast, doing movie trivia (uh way too many questions about Mad, Mad, Mad World, and 3 Stooges - I'm a girl fgs!). Very reasonable, nothing fancy just good breakfast fare, but get this, we were here last week and my boyfriend tells the wife owner that it would be great if they stocked pure maple syrup (he's a purist). Please see pix ... a week later my boyfriend rather snarkily, I thought, said, "but you don't have maple syrup." and the husband owner said, "Yes we do, my wife had me get some this past week." We will be here next Sunday. Have to mention, recently went back for dinner and had the baked stuffed shrimp. The best I've had. Not too much breading, very large shrimp, and delicious. 30 So I was there yesterday June 3, 2023. It was my girlfriends birthday and because we pass by it so frequently, that's what we decided on for the early dinner. The restaurant was about 50% capacity. We sat down and were served the thinnest bread I have ever seen in my life.(no big deal, it's just bread right?) I ordered the broiled haddock, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. My girlfriend ordered a pot roast, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The food came out in about 10 minutes. To be succinct, both meals were terrible, and here is why. The fish fillet was absolutely tiny, with no flavoring even though it had some type of breadcrumbs. The mashed potatoes were cold and disgusting. The coleslaw is some thing like I have never experienced. It was absolutely bland and had the consistency of velvet! My girlfriends pot roast were two of the strangest pieces of pot roast I have ever seen they were tubular in shape and about 4 inches long. The brown liquid was not even close to gravy, I tasted a spoonful and it tasted like when you leave meat in the refrigerator uncovered for a couple of days.(which by the way I burped up for the next half an hour while we look for another restaurant).. The waitress was very sweet she came out and asked how the meal was and both of us said it was not good, the mashed potatoes were cold. She brought out two more orders of potatoes that came out extremely hot, obviously they were microwaved. At that point, we had both decided we were not going to dine here on her birthday. The waitress told us she would inform the manager. A few minutes later a woman came out unannounced took the dishes abruptly and said we will take care of this. At that point I said "hold on please could you come back so I can speak with you?" she did come back. I asked if she was a manager and she said she was the owner. I was very quiet about my complaints to her in the dining room, I was very honest with her, she was polite enough, but I really don't think she understands there is a problem with the food. She told me "I know I have a good food", "I don't know what happened in the kitchen with this meal". I am sorry, I do not buy that, if you are a restaurant owner this day and age you should be having decent food. Especially when you were charging me $30!! For an 8 ounce piece of fish, absolutely cold and disgusting mashed potatoes , and gross coleslaw. How can you not know what's going on in your kitchen as an owner?? I am a fairly simple person, I would eat almost anything and be grateful, I understand fine dining, I am also capable of making my own food. This was supposed to be a special dinner. This is the first time in my life I/we have ever left a restaurant because of the food. So to end the story, I had two small bites of fish one bite of coleslaw and one bite of cold potatoes and half of a Coke. My girlfriend had one bite of her potatoes and one bite of that disgusting pot roast. I handed the waitress $20 because why should she have to lose money on account of terrible food. I cannot understand any of the decent reviews here, un less everybody has lost their sense of taste, or they are just friends of the restaurant owner trying to post reviews. I am so sorry to say this place was terrible. I went to another local restaurant on the canal near the power plant, the food was outstanding and the price was almost the same. Not to mention the interior of the building was beautiful. This is just constructive criticism, it is the opinion of two people, but I do believe it to be fair and accurate. read more

Ok. So I have not been for awhile as I ten to flit around the Cape. As I was driving by, I noticed the parking lot was not busy albeit a Monday night. I sat in the lounge/bar. I love Mojito's in the summer and watched Mike muddle the mint (not everyone does this!). I saw someone "spank" the mint once - just not the same. The mojito was a not strong for me but otherwise perfect. I ordered the fired whole belly clams! OMG! The best I have had in a long time. The bellies were huge, soft and oh so delicious! The fries were tasty with just enough salt - soft in the inside, crispy on the outside. The cole slaw was fresh! Nice crunch, not too much dressing. So, I will be back. Delicious!!! This is not a drive by. They may not have a canal or ocean view but the staff and food are worth the stop! read more

The clam chowder was good, but I had to add some pepper on top because it was a little flavorless. The consistency was okay, but it still could have been thicker for my taste. The lobster casserole is the definite best dish at this establishment. You can't find it in many other places, anyway, and this restaurant does a good job. The stuffing for the casserole is very rich, served with melted butter to be poured on top. The big chunks of claw, tail, and knuckle meat are generous. I definitely prefer eating lobster this way as opposed to cracking it open myself; I'm pretty lazy. I was so stuffed from my entree that I didn't order dessert. read more

We stopped here on the way back from the Cape late one evening. We were attracted by the full lot, the lights and, well, they were open and we were hungry. It was a pleasant surprise. There was live music, it was busy but not totally full and the food was better than decent. The service was also very friendly. We had burgers and other basic stuff and enjoyed the music and lively crowd. I wouldn't go out of the way to stop here but if you're rolling in from the Cape and need to stop for something decent to eat, this is a good place. read more

This restaurant has been a family favorite since I was a young gal and the tradition has carried through to my adult children. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming. We've shown up with over ten people in our party many times, and we are always accommodated without a fuss or a long wait. The staff and owners are caring and detail oriented. The food portions will satisfy the heartiest of eaters--- everyone in the family has their favorite stand-by dish, but we all enjoy venturing to try another knowing it will be great. My family had lunch there today, and all three entrees were something I would not feed my dogs! The clams were not fresh; the Caesar salad dressing was without taste; and the service was terrible. We waited twenty minutes for a Diet Pepsi. I have eaten at the inn during the fall, and we enjoyed all the food that was served, however, clams casino tasted like mush today with tiny pieces of bacon. Pretty bad when the best part of the meal is the side salad. The server was very nice and attentive. However the entrees were awful. My wife had the veal Piccata and it was so salty it was inedible. The Veal Marsala was simply tasteless. Among the worst I have ever had. One way to test the veal is to cut it with a fork. The Sagamore Inn failed the test. Not recommended for your dining. Ending our mini anniversary vacation, the hubby and I stopped here on way home for a quick lunch. We were greeted right away and shown to a table. The waitress was good, attentive at just the right level. Before we ordered I needed bathroom break, my shoes stuck to floor all the way into bathroom, the sticky floor throughout left me with an uneasy feeling. However, we both ordered Turkey Clubs, this had real turkey meat, not the overly processed deli meat. Which was a great touch. We asked for mayo on the sandwiches, which a thin layer was added but we both agreed it needed a bit more bc sandwich was pretty dry. Would we be back, I am not sure. MAybe. read more

My family and I recently hosted a large function at the Sagamore Inn's outdoor tent, which was spacious and new and very attractive. There was plenty of parking for our guests. Beth was our event planner from the Inn and was so solicitous and competent as we planned the event. She is a warm, clear communicator. She and the rest of the Sagamore Inn crew stayed positive and "zen" when we had new requests. The buffet food was delicious and reasonably priced. Wonderful wait staff. Once again the inn has proven to be an excellent spot to grab a good beer and eat some excellent food. The food is perfect. Wether you're getting a scallop roll (which is huge) or grabbing the signature chicken parm you'll be satisfied. This place has it all. From the main meal to the appetizers it's going to satisfy. When you arrive make sure to say hi to Mike who owns the establishment with his wife. Both are excellent and will willingly help you decide the best meal to fit your needs. I'll continue to come to this great spot with my most excellent girlfriend. 5/30/16 Memorial Day Monday. What can I say? This place serves up the best food. Shnookums got the lobster roll and I got the scallop roll. As you can imagine 300,000 people are trying to leave the cape right now and every single one of them decided to stop at the inn. Just opened this week for outdoor dining. Beautiful ambience on the deck with a view of wooded area, small pond and their amazing event tent(I wish I had a photo to share). The staff is attentive, friendly, and love to please! Drinks are poured heavy so you will not feel your self poured drinks are missed. I went here twice in the past and wasn't impressed so since the pandemic, I thought I'd give it a try again to see if it has changed with the new cook. It was awful. Got the Chicken Cacciatore and it was pretty greasy without much tomatoes to speak of and they use canned or jarred mushrooms not fresh. The price was $28.99 without a salad ! Very expensive.. Don't see what people see in this place except maybe the alcohol. I asked the lady who did my curbside pick up... is it still as noisy as in the past and she said there's a lot of screaming kids. Extremely disappointed. Started dinner by splitting an appetizer plate. The fried provolone and stuffed mushrooms on this plate were delicious, and the fried calamari was good. However, the plate was by far mostly heaped high with fried onion rings. Honestly, that wasn't so bad- but we would have preferred a better portioned plate. For dinner we ordered broiled sea scallops. Our server had told us that bay scallops were a menu special, but we prefer the size and flavor of sea scallops. We were brought bay scallops anyway. They were small, mushy, topped with burned cracker crumbs, and in a watery sauce. The server returned, listened to our concerns and then lied to us that these were indeed sea scallops- no interest in our satisfaction or soggy food. It's a shame. I had heard good things about the Sagamore, especially the seafood, and wanted to support a local business. I will not be going back, except maybe to sit at the bar for fried provolone. read more

We went on 10/16/21 looking for a nice seafood dinner and was so disappointed with both dinners. We ordered broiled haddock with mashed potatoes and broiled scallops with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were tasteless. Both seafood entrees has dry bread crumbs thrown on top, no moisture, no crisp, no color. The biggest disappointment were the "calms casino" which were really stuffed littlenecks with a tiny piece of bacon on top. If I wanted a stuffed quahog, I would have ordered one. I went here tonight for a glass of wine before tackling Market Basket. Michael was very nice but it was clear his co-worker- an disgruntled lady- wasn't a fan. I had ordered a glass of wine from Michael and we had a pleasant conversation. He got called away to do a take out order and in his absence the lady came and asked if I want another wine and I said yes and also my check. I drank my wine and paid my check- while I was in the bathroom she knocked on the door to say Michael hadn't added my second wine and I had to come back to rerun my card. First off don't blame Michael, you took the order. Plus leave people alone in the bathroom. One of the weirdest experiences I've ever had. She's gunning for Michael and it's not right. read more

This place has mediocre food for a hefty price. The only reason I am giving it three stars is because of our waitress, Brenda. She was amazing, kind, patient with my mother in law, told us about her favorite food items as recommendations, and most importantly- hilarious. She was what made us enjoy our time here and if you go I highly suggest you ask for her as your server. I might come back, the prices are a little much for what you are getting. I just wanted to let u know how appreciative and impressed myself and my family are with the Remembrance Celebration yesterday for my dad From the moment we all walked into that beautiful tent which was lovely decorated in red white and blue we were relieved from 2 difficult days of heavy emotions and able to relax together as a family and embrace your beautiful surroundings!! Weather wise it was a perfect day for enjoying your outside bar and after we ate our outstandingly delicious meal many ventured out side enjoying just sitting or walking around your beautifully landscaped grounds! Beth was there to greet us all with open arms! Cheryl and Joanne gave us outstanding service and attention! And Rebecca on the bar what can I say! My family loved her and she returned love to all of them! Everyone in my family told me what a perfect choice I had made for our venue and that Dad would be so proud! While the staff was friendly and the food was pretty good (though pricey to me for what we got), we were very shocked at the COVID protocols (or lack thereof) especially compared to the other restaurants we have visited over the last six months. In retrospect I wish I'd gone with my gut vibe when we walked in and chosen to dine elsewhere. They place parties at each booth back to back and a shower curtain is the only barrier between. Every other restaurant we've seen has seated parties every other booth. As our visit went on, more and more parties were seated in the room to the point of me feeling quite uncomfortable with the quantity of people in such a small enclosed space. We could see into the kitchen area and multiple folks preparing the food were not wearing masks. One of the servers was using a clear face shield instead of a proper mask that covers nose and mouth. Ceiling fans were operating on high everywhere. As far as aerosol spread of a virus I would think using ceiling fans in an enclosed space with lower ceilings would be a horrible idea. I hate to leave a poor review for people who obviously work hard to create a business and keep it alive. But at the same time, the cavalier attitude about keeping the patrons safe was quite disturbing to my entire family. I share this in case there are others who are trying to continue to live life during a pandemic while taking reasonable precautions. If so, you may want to skip this establishment. read more
