Great fish n chips and fantastic specialty short ribs and Chuck burger. You know it's a great burger when the juice starts to run down your forearms! The fries were crispy and flavorful. The fish was fresh and had a perfect light golden crisp batter. This was our 2nd visit and will certainly come back again for their Italian dishes. Apparently that is where this place really shines. An odd smell greeted us at the door, and then we were seated in an uncomfortable booth (think old church pew designed to make you sit up straight and pay attention). The server was very friendly and prompt and the bread was warm. We ordered the various parmesan dishes, and were surprised at how sweet the red sauce was. Hanging lived here for the past 12 yrs, today was the first time that I've eaten at the Sagamore Inn. Had chicken parm. With ziti and meat sauce. Chicken was fantastic, but sauce was very watery. Then my friend and I had, OMG, the lemonchello (spelling?). It was incredible!!! Will go back again, but not for the pasta sauce. Who puts celery in marinara? I think no stars would be a better rating, but sadly this is not possible. My partner and I visited the restaurant and were quite pleased with the atmosphere, service, and food. We decided to return on a Tuesday just past 8pm. The bar was still busy. The door to the bar was locked, so we tried to open the restaurant door. About a second before we could actually try the door, one of the staff locked it. No explanation, no nothing. It would have been perfectly OK to tell us or other customers that kitchen and bar are closed or last orders had already been taken, but no. The staff at this place just decided to lock us out. I took my son here for dinner last night. We had a wonderful experience. The Inn provides a embracing, homelike atmosphere. We were seated right away and quickly given warm, fresh bread. My son ordered the homemade lasagna and I went with the veal parmigiano. They were both delicious and filling. I was able to finish my plate (no surprise ) but my son had to take the rest to go. Was seated at a table by a lovely woman who sadly wasn't our waitress. Our actual waitress was incredibly rude. After waiting a half hour for her to come take our order when she arrived at the table we asked if she was short staffed. She then refused to wait on us and walked away. We called her back to ask her to please wait on us as we had been waiting so long with a six year old and said it's already been a half hour and she again refused to wait on us. For what? All we did was inquire as to why it was taking so long. She was so rude. Will never go back. Yelled at by a waitress for asking a polite question and we were polite. We just had a party for 30 in their private function room, and it was absolutely perfect. The owners and staff...I cannot rave enough about them. The food is always great. And the place is charming anyway, always has been. But if you're looking to have a private event, they have the perfect space (30-40 guests is about the capacity I think). In an age when people don't call back, return emails, and bad service is rampant, this place is the complete opposite. They were so accommodating and friendly. Our guests wanted for nothing. What is not to like. Reasonable prices and you can order lunch at dinner time as many of the portions are huge. Very good seafood ,Italian food and comfort food. I love the "Shirls Yummy Pot Roast" or the fish cakes. The fish chowder is my favorite anywhere as the broth is thin. On top of that the drinks are generous-I have to limit myself to one manhattan. The owner is a nice guy and always present usually helping at the bar. Many days you will see the former owner -Shirl-at the bar. The new owner is making improvements every year-new outside deck in the back and new bathrooms. Closes this time of year so check before you go. Not fancy but comfortable. Was always one of the best restaurants on the Cape side of the bridge, friendly, clean and good food for a family style place. Definitely some good improvements since the latest owners took over. But alas, with progress comes a price and unfortunately that's exactly what happened here. We recently went and had a good meal but for the money we spent since the new menu price increases, I don't think you could call it quite affordable. For the money you might as well go get yourself some ocean front dining in a top end place, this is not it. Instead of eating here our average 6 or 7 times a season, we'll be cutting it back to about once. Guess that's just the price of progress, just wish my pay would keep up with it. read more

The family has visited this restaurant frequently over the last several decades - as one of our favorites. However, overall experiences over recent years have missed the mark on many levels. On the most recent visit, our group of 6 were left waiting at the front door for over 5 minutes without a simple acknowledgement, as the hostess and other staff scurried by. When we were finally acknowledged, the hostess said "you can grab any of those tables" as she pointed to the center if the dining room. All the tables were set for 5, and with no assistance offered, we arranged for 6. Waitress then arrived and took drink orders, then returned and took food orders for 5 of us and started to walk away until we reminded her there were 6 of us! Although they accompanied some off-the-menu combination plates, several of the meals were uninspiring (crumbly battered fried clams, over-cooked fried shrimp, and a bland, heavy on meat spaghetti sauce). The fried scallops were very good, as was the baked haddock. All in all, the "okay" experience won't draw us back anytime soon, given so many other nearby options. read more

This place is awesome. The current owners, the Bilodeau's, are carrying on a proud tradition and in my opinion have taken it up a notch. The place has been lovingly restored, check out the original pressed tin ceiling, it could be or should be on the national historic register, honest it is that nice. As for the food, great. The home made meat sauce is to die for, exceptional seafood, amazing lobster rolls. Prices are reasonable and quantities are large. Homemade deserts are a great way to end your meal. We come often and are always impressed, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. We just love it read more

I can't say enough positive things about this place. The food was great!! Our server was Peter and he was top notch! We were a group with kids and he got there food out quickly before any of them could complain about being hungry. The entire staff was kind, courteous and profesional and made us feel welcome. We sat outside and brought our puppy with us, who also got treated like a king with his own water bowl and dog treats. The environment was clean and welcoming. I'll defintiely be back. My family has been going here forever. It's a total hole in the wall and very casual but good, no frills food! My husband and I have eaten at Sagamore Inn hundreds of times over last 30 years! Last night was a disaster! We were served luke warm dirty muddy steamers. We should have taken a picture of them and sent them back to the kitchen. We did not want to cause a scene. We complained to only to the waitress who told the chef. His answer was more sarcastic than truthful. We paid our bill and as we were leaving spoke to the owner who said " someone at the bar just had the steamers and said they were great" Remember. We have been regular patrons for years who were shocked to be treated so carelessly by the owners. We have even kept patronizing the place after a huge increase in prices in the past couple of years! No apologies. No reimbursement offered. We were more sad than mad. Fortunately there are other great seafood places on Cape Cod. Next time we want chowder and steamers or lobster we will go to The Pilot House down by the canal only a few miles from the Sagamore Inn. We recommend you do the same. We've been going to the Sagamore Inn for 25 years, and new owners Michael and Suzanne Bilodeau have done the best thing of all: taken the best qualities of a good restaurant and make them even better. I can honestly say that we have never had a meal there that we didn't love, and its homey atmosphere is a welcome change to the sushi joints and chain restaurants that are starting to cover the Cape like a blight. When it came time to choose a place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, we could have gone anywhere but we went to the Sagamore Inn and we were glad we did. Most highly recommended! read more

During the Pagliarani era of ownership when "Mary" graced the bar area, the Sagamore Inn was our go-to restaurant for fried clams and good pie and we dined there nearly every weekend. Each winter, we counted the days til opening day on April 1st. Then the restaurant sold, the clams weren't as good and we stopped going. Last week, for my husband's birthday, we thought we'd give it a try again and get some clams to go. We did a double-take when we saw the bill....$59.90 for 2 clam plates????? Outrageous. Our fault, for not asking what the "market price" was but be sure to ask before YOU order so you're not caught off guard like we were. read more

Usually a good experience however the last time we went it was disappointing. Walked in on a Friday night at about 730 and the lady told us it was going to be a 10-15 min wait. Sure that's fine. So we are standing there waiting and 4 people walk in behind us. The lady says how many and takes them right to a table. How do you seat 4 people before a party of 2 if there is a wait. So unfortunately it left a bad taste with us and we left and never returned. read more

Went to the Sagamore Inn on a recommendation of a local person. It was the WORST meal we've had in a long time. The salad was dry. The pot roast was disgusting. It was so overcooked that it had a gritty, papery texture. Also, they charge you for soft drink refills without your knowledge! I haven't had to ask about free refills in twenty years. This place needs to go on Restaurant Impossible for a makeover. The prices were way to high for this kind of food.I will say that the service was good though. Food was bad and ugly, old decor from the 70's. Don't waste your $$$$ here. read more

We stopped in late Saturday night for a bite on our way to Brewster. Decent wine selection. Great wait staff. Had the lobster roll, which was full of large chunks of lobstah, and well seasoned, though I had to add a good bit of salt and pepper. Catain' Platter, which my dinner partner had, was rockin. Great scallops, clams, lobster chunks, scrod, piled way high, with chips under it. Great taste, good sauces. A bit pricey, but I would go back for the well prepared fried fish. I just had my rehearsal dinner at the Sagamore Inn Restaurant this past Friday and I was more than happy with the food and service. The portions were huge, the food was amazing (we had antipasta, eggplant and chicken parm, meatballs, zitti, and tiramisu for desert), the service was perfect, even the owner, Suzanne Bilodeau, helped served and she was so sweet to us. We even came back the next two mornings for breakfast because all the servers were so nice and the food was so great! The tiramisu alone is worth stopping here to have, its that good! I was in the area over the weekend and stopped in for some breakfast. Breakfast is only serves on certain occasions and not all year round. It was, lucky for us, a Sunday and they were open. An old building indeed, but I really liked it. They have that old fashion typed booth and I was happy they were cushioned which I really liked. The service was AMAZING! So very kind-- it was Father's Day and she was sure to ah knowledge all of the dad's at our table. Then, the food was pretty good. I had pancakes. They were certainly verging good, but it wasn't different- it was just like you would suggest from any diner. Definitely check it out. read more

Being new to the area, we decided to stop at the Sagamore Inn. It looked nice, like an old style roadhouse. The food was very good and we looked forward to returning. The following weekend we had some of our family visit and decided to go back.These were both on Saturday nights. Understandably it took a few minutes to seat us. Our second experience was not so pleasant - the table was sticky, several of our choices were sold out and the service was not the best. We finished our dinners which were not so good, I asked for the check and waited a while before it came, paid it and left what I thought was an appropriate tip. As we exited our waitress confronted us and wanted to know why we did'nt leave a bigger tip, when I tried to explain she became very angry and created a scene in front of my family. Needless to say we will not return which is unfortunate, because our first impression was positive. read more

Wait person brought menus and said would be back to take out order. We looked the menus over and then sat and waited, waited and waited. Our wait person was sitting in a booth going over her tip money and sorting out checks. Finally I got up and asked the young man who had seated us if someone could take our order. So our wait person got up and came over and took our order. Had clam chowder and scallops, fries and slaw lunch. Chowder was cold, had to send back, then the meal arrived before we were done with the app. You would think the kitchen would make sure the chowder was hot before they sent it out. The scallops were good, fries were over cooked and the slaw was good also. What really set me off was every time our wait person approached our table and was next to it all you could smell was cigarette smoke. She reeked of it. It will be awhile before we go back there.
