I'm very disappointed with the recent experience I had with Jeannette at the JCPenney Hair Salon. I trusted her enough to let her lighten my hair, knowing she had just started doing hair professionally. I wanted to support her and help her gain experience. Unfortunately, the result was so bad I had no choice but to go to another salon to have it fixed. While Jeannette did offer to correct her mistake, I simply didn't feel comfortable letting her touch my hair again after what had happened. I even reassured her multiple times that it was okay and not to worry about it. Despite that, she became upset that I didn't give her the chance to fix it, and she ultimately cut off communication with me. I've been going to Jeannette for facials and waxing for nearly 10 years without any issues. After this one incident with my hair, she blocked me from booking appointments. That level of unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable from someone who claims to have worked at the best salons in Beverly Hills. I genuinely feel I'm entitled to a refund not just for the hair service, but for the way I was treated afterward. Be cautious when booking with Jeannette. What a waste of $240 dollars, I get better work paying less at supercuts. read more

I want to note that my daughter's stylist, Melissa was AMAZING! If she had a separate Yelp listing, I would give her 5 Stars. This rating is for services rendered for me. A week ago I booked appointments for myself and my daughter for 12:00 pm with 2 different stylists. I'm very aware of honoring other people time and ensure I'm always at least 15 mins early for all appointments. My daughter and I arrived 20-25 mins early for our appointments. The salon was busy with walk ins due to back to school. We checked in and the stylist originally assigned to me could take me early. I asked that she take my daughterand I would wait for the second stylist. 12:00 pm came and went and no one came to either update me or come and get me for my appointment. At 12:15 I asked the receptionist who my stylist would be, she pointed out the stylist. I returned to my seat and the stylist greeted the lady sitting next to me and took her daughter and began doing her hair. At 12:40 I went to the receptionist and asked to speak to the manager. I cancelled my appointment and stated if your stylist cannot respect my time or keep me informed of delays then I would take my business elsewhere. The manager was not helpful. Unless there is a specific stylist you personally know here and go too, avoid this salon! read more

If you are looking for a very basic trim, this Place is ok, but if you are looking to do more, look for another salon. I made the mistake of booking a late appointment. Mary helped me, she was very nice but unfortunately didn't cut my hair at the length I wanted. I asked her to trim it and make it a little shorter but since it was at the end of the day , she was rushing and at the end I had to go back home and cut fix it myself. Overall not terrible but not great. Going back to the valley to get my haircut in a heartbeat. read more

Asked Claudia for 2 inches off of length and EASILY 5 INCHES were taken off. Not to mention the "framing" of my daughter's face makes her look like little orphan Annie in the front. Her hair used to be down her back. Absolutely HORRIBLE. I asked for my daughter to get her hair styled afterwards and the hairdresser burned her hair with the hairdryer stopped doing her hair and my daughter left with wet hair. read more

I had Liz as my hair stylist today and she was quick, but left with my hair looking AMAZING ! For my baby shower, I even was able to make it to my makeup appt :) she's very sweet and affordable ! Definitely will be coming here again for future hair appointments for special events read more

First time here and I LOVED IT thanks Paula!! I got a trim and style no color but bc of the salon experience provided I felt so pampered and walked out feeling brand new!! She washed my hair cause they don't do dry cuts, i loved it! Then used GREAT products to hydrate my hair (neeeded that) and protect from heat. My hair smells amazing and is so soft. Paula is a literal magician she kept so much length, and I thought I was gonna have to go short from how dead it was. I had to show a before and after cause you HAVE TO see for yourself!! I am so so pleased and I actually didn't even make an appointment, I did a walk in and they were the sweetest in there. Got me some crazy savings on some bottles of Joico too, and she took her time answering my questions on many of her fav products. The manager was also really sweet and helpful at the counter, it was all around an amazing experience. Can't wait to go back! read more

Wow my mind is literally blown! I had an appointment at 3:15 with Melissa. I arrived before my appointment time and was greeted at the counter by Mona who instructed me to have a seat at one of their chairs, 10 minutes went by then 15 minutes went by and not one person acknowledged me nor stated I'll be right with you I'm running late with my current client or anything I waited literally 1/2 an hour until I decided to walk out and still not one person said a thing. What is the point of scheduling appointments if you're not going to see the client at that time nor inform them you're running late! Terrible terrible terrible read more

**The incident I'm discussing happened back in October of 2017, and, at the time, I did not ask to speak to a manager about it. However, I've found that, nearly 6 months later I'm still irritated and it has caused me to choose to not return to this salon.** BACKGROUND: I had an event to go to in mid-October and made an appointment here for two reasons: 1) Convenience-I worked in the mall and JCP was the closest; 2) I'd had nothing but excellent experiences at this salon in the past, so decided it would probably be my go-to. I made the appointment for 4 p.m. which was 15 minutes after I got off of work and 45 minutes before I needed to leave to go to the event. (It had not ever taken more than 30 minutes here for a shampoo and cut, so I figured I had time to spare--BIG mistake.) The stylist I had requested was not available that day so I was given another, Hanna(h?). I accepted because she had done my friend's hair before and I liked her work and attitude. I arrived to my appointment a few minutes early and was told that the stylist was just finishing up with a client and would be right with me. She did not finish with the client in the chair until about 4:20. At this point I decided that I would have to just get a dry but so that I could be out on time. Not ideal, but there wasn't enough time at this point. Hanna then proceeded to take a family of 3 to the back with her. The family had been waiting when I walked in to check in for my appointment so I thought, "Oh no, she's super backed up on appointments, I'd better reschedule." I asked the receptionist and she said that she wasn't sure what was going on but that it would only be a couple of more minutes. Since I was waiting for a ride to pick me up at JCP, I figured waiting wouldn't hurt since I'd be there anyway. Hannah finished up with the girl of the family and they went out to look at product. Not only did the family not come in and pay, the mother thanked her for "Squeezing [us] in." INCIDENT: **I was furious. It was now 4:38 (yes I looked at my phone), and not only had the haircut that was in progress when I checked in run into my appointment time (it happens, I get it), but the stylist took someone else BEFORE her already scheduled appointment, knowing I was there, without saying a single word to me. When she called my name she apologized for the wait and asked what we were doing. I was livid, and told her that I had to leave the mall NO LATER than 4:50 so if she thought she could do the haircut in that amount of time, great, if not, then I would have to reschedule. She said that she didn't like to do dry cutting, but that if she didn't wash, she could do it. She trimmed my hair and bangs in 7 minutes from the time I sat in the chair until it was done. When I went to pay, I was in for another shock. I was used to paying $22 for a haircut, but now was being charged nearly $40. I asked when the prices went up and she then explained to me that the salon is on some sort of tier system. By luck the stylists I had been making appointments with were at the bottom level, so their services were less expensive. I had no idea that the JCP salon worked that way. I've lived in the bay area and have gone to training salons so had heard of it, but was ignorant of that system at JCP. So my 7 minute dry trim, with tip, cost over $40. At least I got out of there by 4:51, which is when I was paying and my ride texted she was there. I don't blame the stylist for everything. My ignorance of their pricing scale was my fault, not hers. Her hard work and experience earned her her rate. However, the lack of professionalism in taking someone in, as a favor, before the scheduled appoint for which she was already late, without saying a word to me, really made me angry. Also, I understand rates are rates, but haircuts are more expensive at salons because of the whole experience. I could have gone to a hole in the wall and paid a fraction of the money I paid here for the same job. That said, every other experience I've had here has been great and in fact, the other encounters I had with this stylist were great (though she was working with someone else those times). My recommendation would be that if you decide to go here, you ask questions first so that you can find the stylist and price range that is right for you. read more
