Came in for some sandwiches while in the area at a soccer tournament. Tried the Troubadour and the Skywalker on Dutch Crunch. Both were really good. Bread, meat, toppings were all really tasty and flavorful. Only small thing I would change is to ask them to sauce both sides of the bread, like mayo on one half, bomb sauce on the other perhaps, because the top bread was dry. Still maintains 5* for staff and ambiance. The guys were all great and friendly, and the music was a good vibe kept staff and customers alike enjoying their time! Dear Hubby and I tried The Sandwich Spot some weeks ago, based on strong Yelp reviews. Am not sure what stopped me from posting sooner, but I do recall not getting what all the hype was about. It was an okay experience. Not bad, not great. I do remember that their go-to bread had a crunch top, which was interesting. The ratio of meat, cheese, veggies & other fillings to the actual bread was not to my liking. It was LOT of bread, and it had a dense texture. It tasted okay, but I felt like the contents were overwhelmed by the bread. I hadn't realized that this is part of a chain. They have a very fair model for franchisees. The Simi Valley location has a very low key design aesthetic. I can't remember much about it, other than the bright awning out front, and the loud music playing inside. There are many sandwich places closer to where we live. This Spot didn't win us over to put them on any kind of regular rotation. read more

The 101 is my favorite sandwich here. I love a good Turkey sandwich, that they add cranberry sauce and cream cheese takes it to a whole different level. It is so tasty! I really wanted that Rocco Italian sandwich I ordered! So while my husband enjoyed his sandwich, I called then drove back to get what I ordered. If for no other reason, you need to get one of their sandwiches on their signature Dutch Crunch bread. This is what sets the Sandwich Spot apart from just about every other sandwich shop. I love that they employ high school and college students who are hard-working and having a good time at work. The ambience of the place is not sterile like a Subway or a Jersey Mike's, but rather reminds me more of a college on-campus hangout spot. All that is missing are table top or upright Arcade consoles. That said, they could do with a slight refresh of the decor and a thorough cleaning. I personally like "The 118" Cold (not Hot - but you can get nearly any sandwich either way. Think Thanksgiving (turkey, cream cheese, cranberry sauce) and add their sugnature Bomb sauce - which is the bomb! The food itself is great...I was always bringing this spot up to friends and trying to get folks to come here, it was one of my favorite guilty pleasures since moving to Simi. I didn't care the several times they were all smoking so much weed in the back you could smell it before you walked in nor did I care about the many times they messed up my sandwiches, cause at the end of the day, their sandwiches were still bomb and it was almost a fun surprise to find out what sandwich I'd actually get. I did my time working service industry--I'm always way nice to people because I know how tough it can be and how shitty guests can act.
