A group of us (6) decided to have lunch at this new location. We were seated immediately. Our waitress Keke came over and took our drink orders. I'd checked into Yelp and realized that I got a free app! Keke and I both encouraged thr other ladies to review with Yelp! #winning We got the lemon pepper chicken wings! They came out fresh from the grease and were well cooked and seasoned. Keke came to take our orders, she did a great job explaining to the newbies and answering questions that we had. While we waited, she brought out lots of condiments so that we'd be ready when the food arrived. Timing is especially important since we were on lunch so we greatly appreciated her proactive approach! She also brought each of us a cute little ink pen... we were so pleased with the service and hospitality. I ordered the shrimp head off lunch with King's sauce and medium heat and double corn. It arrived a little bit later in the steaming bag. I let her know that the extra corn was missing and they brought it right out! My food was very good. I also tasted the calamari, fried shrimp, fries and hushpuppies. Everything was good! Our group all agreed that we'd be back soon!

I knew I would be trying the new Seafood King location in Hoover soon. Yesterday presented the perfect opportunity for me to go with my family. This location is in the shopping center with Hobby Lobby off HWY 31 in Hoover. There is plenty of parking so we found a spot easily. As we walked in, the hostess (Amber) greeted us very warmly! She made small talk with my kids and complimented my hair so things definitely got off to a good start. We were sat at a booth and our waiter (Carlos) greeted us and took our drink orders. I noticed right away that the napkin holder had a sign that said if Yelp Elite members write a review, they will receive a free appetizer and 10% off their meal. I will be taking advantage of that on my next visit. Also, if you check-in on Yelp, you get a free appetizer. We used that offer to try their calamari. It was good and it was hilarious to me that my youngest son thought they were onion rings. I decided on a 1/2 pound of Snow Crab Legs with double potatoes and boiled eggs. The heat level for my broil was hot and I decided on the King sauce. Our waiter brought out a bucket with our bibs, gloves, and wet napkins. After we ordered our food, we received it in a decent amount of time. My food was really good. The heat level was actually kind of spicy to me, which was great because at the other location, I ordered the same heat and sauce and it wasn't spicy. I have no choice, but to give this location 5 stars. The service was great from the beginning to the end and the food was good. The inside is nice, clean, and spacious. We will be back!

This place has been on my list for a while! My husband and I went in on Sunday. Facility: The restaurant is spacious - very relaxed, comfortable atmosphere (jeans are fine). The decor is colorful. Cool mirals. They have a bar in the center of the restaurant that seemed to have all the basics. The aroma is fishy but Duh! Lol! Food: I ordered the combination shrimp and crab legs, which came with a 1/2 ear of corn and 1 med sized red potatoes. I chose this sauce.. I think it was called king sauce. It's a mixture of all the other sauces combined. THIS SAUCE WAS AMAZING! but better. Everything was cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the fried whiting, fries and wings. All that was seasoned and prepared very well. Staff: Our server was Christi. She was very kind and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I also met Amber. She was also kind and attentive - great personality! I'll be back soon enough!

I really enjoyed my dinner here. I got combo B which was shrimp, crab legs, corn, hush puppies and a potato. The seafood was really fresh and I loved the taste. You got a good amount of both. I ate all the crab legs and even had some shrimp leftover to take home. In fact, so much seafood that I couldn't even eat my corn and potato. The hush puppies were okay but not sweet like I like them. We tried the calamari as an appetizer. You got a really good amount but the calamari was bland and kind of chewy. I wouldn't get that again. Staff were very friendly and the food came out quick. The atmosphere in here is very casual. Definitely not a date night kind of place but if you are looking for good affordable seafood, this is the place for you!

My niece had her birthday dinner here. It was on a Sunday afternoon around 4:00. Our party of 14 was seated immediately. In addition to our server, there was a brand ambassador that was friendly and accommodating. Once I checked in, I saw I could get a free appetizer. I ordered the calamari. It arrived quickly but was lukewarm at best. They are big and meaty. I'm sure they would have been good had they been served fresh out the grease. I ordered snow crab legs and head off shrimp with extra corn. I had hot king special seasoning. The hot was hot but not too extreme for my taste. The boiled seafood was good and I love the corn in the sauce/seasoning. Another large party of about 20+ arrived after us and they seem to handle large parties well. I would visit again.

Calamari, no real flavor on the breading

Where to start, we came here on a Saturday night to meet friends for dinner. The first thing I noticed was there is no adult beverages. To start we ordered the calamari as our app, the came out in a decent amount of time. I actually only at 2 of the rings, the breading had absolutely no flavor at all. The dipping sauce they give you is good and I guess that is why there is no seasoning.. for those of us that like the food to stand on its own are not impressed with having to use sauce for any flavor. Now on to the main course, I usually do fried but since the app had no flavor I decided to go with the lobster and head off shrimp boil. I ordered it with garlic butter and should have told them that is all I wanted. I did say mild so they did put the Cajun seasoning in the bag. It was good but not really my cup of tea. The lobster was ok but cut very strange and hard to get out. The shrimp was cooked good and required a little work as the shell and some legs were on them. The corn in the bag is very soft and pretty good. I do not care for potatoes so I did not try that. All in all the experience was unique and I am sure if you like Cajun you will probably love this place. I will give it one more try and this time remember to say no Cajun seasoning just the garlic butter.

I was so disappointed. Let's start with the good... Staff were very friendly and helpful The sauces were fantastic (and I suspect the only things that were actually made at the restaurant) That's it people. That's all that was great. The bad.... or maybe just unfortunate... The shrimp, oysters, and catfish were WAY over breaded. And not hand breaded. These were clearly frozen, but otherwise not too bad, but not great. The ugly.... The fries and hush puppies. You had to buy the hush puppies as an appetizer. *insert eye-roll* Both were frozen as well. The fries were okay, but seriously, how hard is it to hand cut fries? The hush puppies were almost inedible. In summary, we spent $46 for a dinner I'd prefer to forget. I would have spent less at "the great little seafood place" and enjoyed it more. I don't understand the good reviews of this place.

Penny pinchers. Free Appetizers does not include most of the list and the list of excluded is missing some of the items. I have eaten and reviewed a Canton MS The Seafood King it was OUTSTANDING. I will notify them that the Hoover AL and Homewood AL are not representative of their food. I was excited to bring my wife here for her birthday dinner, I was embarrassed by the cost of hush puppies (gracious, this is the South....charging for hush puppies?) Customary CAJUN fare includes bread (hush puppies) with fried catfish and shrimp. No Salt & Pepper on table. Must request and received packets. Bottom line... The food, OH the meal was good . Served hot and timely. My catfish was the most fishy cat fish I have ever eaten. Our waitress was great!

Basic menu. They do have combo features on another menu.

Come prepared to wear the bib. I got the kings special seasoning...medium. It was great. Food was cooked to perfection. I got a combo and have enough for another small meal so portion sizes are good. I think they could probably drop their prices $1-2 and I'd "perceive" it to be a better value...hence 4 stars but overall great food. Laid back atmosphere. Jami; is the gal who greeted me...she's attentive and friendly....true asset to the organization. Come try it!!! You'll be glad you did.

I choose the air conditioning over the entertainment but from what I was able to hear the young lady singing is very talented. When I came in I was NOT immediately greeted. It took a while to be acknowledged but once I was seated I had a great experience. My server was great and the atmosphere is really nice. It's dark with flickering hanging chandeliers. The place was clean with people actively cleaning. I started things off with a strawberry cheesecake martini and it was so good I wanted to curl up in a corner and tell them to keep them coming. It was like a dessert in a cup so if sweet isn't your thing, definitely skip this one. It was, however, not sickeningly sweet. It was perfect. I got a cup of the gumbo yaya, which has shrimp, crab, chicken, and sausage. It was some of the best gumbo I have had in a while. It was perfectly seasoned and had a little kick. Next, I had one of their specialties, the NOLA Chicken. You can choose grilled or blackened chicken served on top of creamy mashed potatoes with diced tomatoes, green onions, and covered in a delicious creamy lobster sauce with a side of grilled asparagus. It was delicious. The seasoning was spot on and the chicken was tender. The lobster sauce made the dish. My only complaint with the dish was a single stalk of reedy asparagus but the others were tender. My last course was the bread pudding. I really wanted to say how delicious it was but it was just good, not great. It was made from Gambino bread and had a warm whiskey cream sauce and chocolate drizzle but the pudding was missing something. Fruit like raisins maybe? It was just a little too bland for me. I'm definitely trying the key lime pie next time. I recommend this place for a nic

If you want a flawlessly executed steakhouse dinner in the Birmingham area without the pretentious price tag, this is your place. I ordered the 12oz ribeye with a baked potato, and both were cooked exactly to order. My wife started with their huge, fresh house salad before tackling the massive 16oz ribeye and a fully loaded baked potato. Honestly, the 16oz cut looked like something straight out of The Flintstones--it was beautifully charred, incredibly juicy, and absolutely massive. The service matched the stellar quality of the kitchen. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and kept my sweet tea topped off the entire night (which is no easy task!). We wrapped up the evening with a slice of chocolate cake. It was literally the size of a diner-style napkin dispenser--decadent, moist, and downright delicious. Budget-wise, it's a high-end steakhouse experience, so expect to spend a little money. However, compared to other premium steakhouses around Birmingham, their pricing is incredibly fair and easily on the lower end of the fine-dining spectrum. You get amazing portions, top-tier quality, and fantastic service. Highly recommended!
