I'm new to the area and I've found my shop for my Toyota issues! My 2017 Camry had the low tire pressure on and I'd tried to fill them but it still wouldn't go off. I brought it to The Service Outlet and the man in the shop immediately took my car in - interrupting his other car project - and filled my tires perfectly. He was great and I certainly trust that he did it right. He said I had all four tires at odd pressures, high and low. He fixed them for free! We took my wife's 2017 Rav4 in to try and have a mystery brake noise diagnosed. This had been going on for over a year and the Toyota dealer was dismissive about whether the problem was even real. Toyota found nothing. Art listened to what the issue was and rode with my wife and fortunately, he heard the noise. He then searched Toyota's data base and discovered a Technical Service Bulletin covering this issue. He let us know it could be an expensive repair but, suggested we contact Toyota Corporate Customer Care and approach them about the possibility of a goodwill repair, seeing as how we had already tried to get it repaired and no one mentioned the TSB. Because of Art's advise we were ultimately able to get Toyota to pay for the complete repair. So, both The Service Outlet and Toyota, with a little prodding, came through. read more

Art, and the team at The Service Outlet, are amazing! They are extremely helpful when I call with questions and to schedule an appointment. They also go out of their way to make my drop off and pick up experience easy and convenient. They refer to me by name when I walk in, have my paperwork ready and they have my loaner car pulled forward and waiting for me. I'm in and out within minutes. And providing the loaner car is key since I live 30 minutes away. They call during the service to alert me of findings and immediately after the service to let me know when my car is ready. I just took my newly acquired 2017 Prius to Service Outlet in Lafayette to have a catalytic converter security plate installed. They gave me a ride home so I wouldn't have to wait. Shortly they called and said that I didn't need it because I already had one which must have been installed by the former owner of the car, so they came back to get me so I could pick up my car. I wish to express my sincere gratitude to technician Mark for his work in keeping my car running smoothly for another seven years. My car was due for a timing belt replacement, due to age. Mark is a highly skilled technician and did an expert job of installing the new part and verifying that everything was working as it should. A well-functioning timing belt is crucial to the life of an engine. While not every repair shop does timing belt replacement, The Service Outlet does. Many people believe this work must be done at the dealership, which is no longer the case. Therefore, I highly recommend The Service Outlet. They're thorough in checking all aspects of their customer's auto care needs and discussing recommended repairs. Caution - I have been a customer for 20+ years and left two vehicles with them to service One of the vehicles was stolen from behind their property - and they stuck me with the bill - which also contained services which I did not approve. Fortunately the vehicle was recovered and my insurance is covering the damages but Service Outlet is refusing to pay the deductible. The other vehicle was broken into and items were taken from the trunk - my homeowners will cover those item minus another deductible. I will be filing a complaint with the bureau of Automotive Repair and also talking to an attorney. read more

I've been a customer of the Service Outlet since 2001. Since I bought a new 2001 Acura TL. Since then, I've brought in all my cars to them. I stuck with them because I trusted them to take care of me. That was more important than price. However, that changed today. Either there is a new owner, new manager, or maybe because there was a new front desk guy. But they now charge $189 per item that you want checked. Since 2001, the front desk would ask me if I wanted anything else checked besides the required service. Good customer service. When my husband picked up the car, all he asked was "Is this a new policy?" Art got very defensive and argumentative. When my husband said we've been bringing our cars here for over 20 years (starting at their old location by the fire station) and we've never been charged to have something looked at, Art asked "Do you work for free?". Regardless, this policy and attitude has cost them not only us as customers and cars, but my daughter's, my son's and my parents. That's a total of 7 cars. read more

Mike was very nice the couple of times I spoke with him on the phone. Dropped the car off the afternoon before and Art wrote us up. Very impressed with the Lafayette location. The entire place was very clean and presentable. Art called the next morning and said the car was fixed and we could pick it up anytime. They checked out other concerns we had and the bill was way more than fair. We were very happy as this was our first time using their services. I've been taking my 2004 Toyota Sienna and 2006 Toyota Prius to The Service Outlet for about 15 years now and they are still running well, both with over 230K miles thanks to their reliable service. I recently scheduled a minor service with service rep Art and mentioned that my Prius' engine oil was very low. He said to bring the car over to have the motor oil topped off in the meantime. I went over to the shop and after Mark topped off the oil, I mentioned to him about the large plastic piece under the engine being loose. He said the engine splatter guard often gets loose and he took the time to immediately put my Prius on the rack and tighten the guard. Now that's service! read more

I learned about The Service Outlet while getting my car serviced at the Acura dealership. Another customer told me if my car was out of warranty I should start taking it to the Service Outlet instead. He said they are honest and will save me a TON of money. He was right! I've been going to the Lafayette location ever since. This week they saved me hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. My car battery kept dying, but my battery tested fine. The AAA tech told me there might be electrical problems. The dealership was going to run diagnostics and pull apart the car to find the problem starting at $500. The Service Outlet suggested I get a new battery for $100. Pete the tech put it in for free. Problem solved. They're the best!!! read more

Hey, I'm nervous. Brian has left (& naturally they won't say where he went). The new guy behind the desk, William, seemed OK until I saw the bill. We'd agreed when I dropt off that my coupon meant I would get the oil chg for 29.99 & the tire rotation at a discount, but my bill had a discount only applied to the oil chg and rotation at full retail.
