The sandwiches were bomb! We tried the milanesa and panini. The people working there were helpful in picking a sandwich. Neta if we're back in the area we're coming here!!

Literally the cutest place to stop for lunch on your way out of town! We were looking for something quick, but didn't see any fast food around so we stopped by the Shack after grabbing gas. The service was far better than most restaurants in LA and the selection of food was quite extensive. Our sandwiches were delicious!! Neither of us are sandwich people, but these sandwiches were something else. The ratio of each of the toppings was spot on. The outdoor seating is very cute and perfect for an expedited meal. I will definitely be back!

The turkey club is so good! Always upgrade to the spicy Mayo!

My husband recently started working at UCLA, and I promised him we would find a couple great lunch spots. First time is a charm! We were leaving the campus and I went random on maps for a spot to stop for lunch on the way, and this was the winner. After looking at reviews, I knew we chose correctly. To be honest, I don't remember what he got the first time, because while it was good, mine was better. The turkey club is freaking delicious. The sourdough bread was toasted to the perfect fineness that it didn't rip the roof of my mouth apart(my biggest odd complaint about club sandwiches). We always upgrade to the spicy Mayo and it's worth it! I'm sure they have plenty of delicious items on their menu, but we go for the club!

Also, sometimes in the afternoon, the milk teas aren't available (when it's too late to brew more tea). The matcha here is creamy and earthy yet sweet. Most other matcha places in West LA have watery matcha, so I'm glad the matcha here is better. They use lactose-free milk by default. The shop is small and there is no seating inside. There are just two large tables outside, so you'll likely need to sit around strangers. Service is good, but a bit slow because of how small the store is. Keep an eye out for good deals!! They often have special promos that are great value. During promos the lines can be long, but they're still worth it in my opinion.

So I finally got to try Le Phant on my 3rd visit attempt, and discovered that they reduced their menu by half.....which was really disappointing to see after waiting in line to order at the kiosk. Nothing posted at the door about the reduced menu. Found out later by looking online to see that one of the owners was on mat leave. Very small interior. It was a hot day so people were crowding inside and I did not get a chance to see look at their paper menu. Ended up paying $7 for an iced tea which wasn't worth it. It was fine, but very average.

The drinks were very good and exactly what you'd expect from a quality café. But the food presentation--wow! It completely exceeded my expectations. We ordered the avocado toast, the breakfast burrito, and the egg on brioche. Every dish was beautifully plated, garnished with edible flowers, and served with a fresh, delicious salad. I honestly wasn't expecting this level of presentation from a café. The portions were generous as well, leaving us completely satisfied. I also tried one of their pastries that reminded me of a cinnamon roll. It was enjoyable, though as a professional baker and pastry chef, I felt the pastries were the one area with room for improvement. In my opinion, they seemed to prioritize elegance and originality over achieving the best texture and flavor. Even so, they were still good, and I appreciated the creativity. Overall, this was an outstanding breakfast experience. Beautiful presentation, delicious food, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere. I would gladly return.

It didn't have a strong astringency but tasted noticeably grassy. I do tend to like sweeter drinks, so the matcha being on the bitter side only enhanced the grassy notes for me. The cold foam was also not as nutty/caramelized as I had hoped; the flavours got lost in the rest of the drink, as if it never existed in the first place. Came by in the last hour or two before closing on a Saturday and thankfully didn't have to wait in line. If I had to wait in line for the matcha, it would have definitely knocked down my rating. I'm sure there are other redeeming qualities of this shop as many customers had laptops set up to work. Maybe coffee was a better option :/

I arrived around 6:13 AM, 17 minutes before opening, after dropping a friend off nearby for her work at Trader Joe's in Westwood who starts @6am. Usually when I have an early work call, I go to Bluestone Café because of the ambiance I've experienced before as a former UCLA Student, who is now Recently Graduated Btw. I asked Angel if it was okay to sit and get set up while HE finished opening, I also offered to help if needed, and he was friendly and understanding, and I only set up 1 table because it was out of the kindest of my heart AND he was awesome. Not even 6 minutes passed by but, I could tell he's a solid, smile oriented customer service worker with a big heart. A few minutes later, at 6:22am Carol approached me and told me to leave, after I had just ordered because Angel was treating me with 5 star hospitality! The restaurant was not open yet, AND I completely understand that a business has opening hours, and I would have had no problem waiting outside if that had been communicated respectfully by the "owner." The issue was the way the owner of Bluestone Café, Carol, spoke to me as her claiming she's "the owner" because she knows people in the district? Ok carol. She raised her voice, treated me like I was a problem, and made me feel extremely unwelcome. I left upset because the situation did not need to be handled that way. Angel, however, remained kind and professional, and I want to make clear that this review is not about him. Angel provided excellent customer service. "I was a disturbance," allegedly though to Carol when I asked why she raised her voice at me like that. No where near was I about to counter her asking me to leave originally, just wanted breakfast before my call and I was willing to wait, Angel knows it... but Carol? Man, she's lucky I didn't give a WORSE review than this one. By the way, this is my 3rd yelp review in the last 5 years, so when I gave the option for her not to act so disrespectful, she turned it up 10x. Completely unacceptable to treat anyone that way, and trust me I know the homeless problem in LA is bad. Hello I was in burberrys and a UCLA sweatshirt with my Tumi Backpack labeled "CB" (my initials), and in my 1300 european shoes I bought also known as burberrys... anyways I confusingly and surprisingly stated "I mean should I leave a 1star review?" Because I was astonished that the owner was continually being so disrespectful, but Carol responded by saying "I'm just going to counter it don't worry, we'll handle it"... who's we Carol? Overall, I was very disappointed by how the owner handled the situation. A simple, respectful explanation would have been enough. Instead, I felt disrespected and embarrassed, and I will not be returning to this location because of CAROL. :) However, Angel, and your coworkers, YOU guys are AWESOME for real. Food is good as always.

BUT THERE WASNT ENOUGH. i had to ask for extra syrup when my friend's same order was initially sweeter. the coconut foam was yummy too, but it's just the lack of consistency and attention to detail that cannot justify the really STEEP price of this place. any other small-business would weigh out the matcha, syrups, make sure the price is reasonable (i think), and so forth. i don't think i'll be back to alfred's westwood location, but if the desire for fruity milk and the slightest bit of matcha flavor hits me, maybe another location would do... I appreciated that their drink menu had some personality, because a lot of coffee/matcha spots feel like they're copying from the same boring menu. I got the sea salt mocha and it was delicious. Smooth, chocolatey and just salty enough. My wife got some type of cereal milk latte, which sounded epic but was apparently just mid. Still, we didn't regret the walk.
