This is definitely my new go to spot when I'm in the area. I was in town for a marathon and needed a fresh, not fast food meal. Chef g executed perfectly. I had one of the rotating specials which was salmon with very nice orange butter which was amazing it had a Suttle taste of a Creamsicle which ironically worked well together. Chef g had no issues coming over to talk about his dishes he was one of the coolest chefs I've encountered. The staff were no different. My waitress was 5 star! Can't find anything negative to say about my experience even the wings were cooked perfectly. The dessert menu was just as creative as the entrees. I cant wait to experience more of Chef g's culinary creativity. Live band, dance floor, full bar that will make anything you want. That's a vibe you have to experience! read more

Came here for some fresh seafood. Was visiting from out of town and wanted something to eat off the water. I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. We came around 2pm and was seated promptly. I was kind of disappointed that they didn't have raw oysters on the menu as that's what I was craving but the entree made up for it. We ordered the calamari for the appetizer and another dish for the entree (forgot the name) which was one of the original dishes that was on the menu before they had new owners and a new menu (as the waiter explained). This dish came with mahi mahi, scallops, shrimp and a cluster of snow crab legs. The calamari was "Asian" style with a mandarin orange type sauce. I would give this a 3 out of 5 stars. The calamari was just ok. Our main entree was really good, however, the mahi mahi was not my favorite. It was cooked hard and I didn't. It finish it all. The rest of the dish was amazing and I would rate it a 4. I would absolutely return for that entree (minus the mahi mahi). The food selection is limited but the entrees looked good. Loved being close to the water. Have a doggie menu and are very dog friendly. Brought multiple buckets of ice cold water for our pup. We got our pup a 6 Oz steak and whip cup. Our food was great too; we got grouper and mahi tuna. Both really good. For sides, the sweet potato fries and coconut rice. Sweet potato fries were the best we've had. We saw dolphins and fish swimming around in the water. Heard from our waitress they are looking to remake the pier destroyed by prior hurricane. Horrible Experience!!! Do not waste your time or money here. The only good thing I can say about this place is the view. The food was subpar at best. We came here pretty hungry. We ordered the coconut shrimp and it was overcooked and rubbery. Sure I ate it, I was hungry and I even let it slide at first. In hind sight I shouldn't have. We ordered the fried sampler platter and my goodness I don't think they put enough batter on the shrimp. It had to be fried 2 or 3 times over there was so much breading. The calamari was also rubbery!! Fortunately for them my sister liked it that way and ate them. However, our friends that ordered calamari were so disappointed in how over cooked they were they sent them back. My shrimp tacos, again over cooked and shockingly not even hot! I ate one and was meh about it. I took one bite out of the second one (there were 3) and noticed the shrimp wasn't clean. Then I was just disgusted. I told the waiter, Brenden T., that I was unhappy with the tacos and even told him about the coconut shrimp. He left and came back stating he can only give me a discount on the shrimp tacos. Then I asked for the manager as I thought that was unacceptable. The manager came by, as a table we explained our overall disappointment and I stated I was looking to remove the shrimp tacos from my bill. The manager advised me per company policy they would only be able to give me a percentage off however this time he will take it completely off the bill. So being told what company policy is when the food sucked and that is not my issue is just unnecessary. I was not arguing about paying for the rest of the food we ate that sucked, just the tacos. Then the bill came. I noticed that it appeared that several things were listed wrong, both under and over priced. The shrimp tacos were $18 on the menu and listed on my receipt as $15 and then of course comped $15. My husbands drink was $14 on the menu, and $13 on our receipt. You could say, why am I complaining they charged us less. The point I am making here is they don't know what they are doing. The crab cakes on the menu are $32 and on my receipt says $41. The cheese steak sub is $18 on the menu and $22 on my receipt. Come to find out this is because of the premium sides ordered with them. These dishes came with sides but the people in our party ordered premium ones. Onion rings at $4 and asparagus at $5. So yes, we do owe that money and the cost is right however, why isn't it A. Itemized on the receipt that way, and B. Usually the waiter says something along the lines of "there's and up charge for that" when you order. But whatever. Where I get upset is when I mentioned that to the waiter it would have been nice for him to mention the up charge, he took his finger and pointed it out on the menu by touching the menu right in front of me to show the premium prices for those sides. Which is just simply a disrespectful way of explaining it. At this point I was beyond done with this place and said I was never coming back. Brenden T., the waiter, told me I can throw a tantrum if I want cause he is leaving after our table. All while laughing and then condescendingly saying things like "Hope you have a nice day" "Have a great weekend" if you can picture what I mean. I have never been spoken to by a waiter or been treated so disrespectfully by a waiter than by Brenden T. Be on the look out for his sarcastic attitude if you choose to dine here despite the bad review. I left and our friends told the manager what Brenden T. Said to me and they couldn't care less. And how could I forget that while I was waiting at the car to leave Brenden T. Was also outside talking with coworkers who were pointing at me. Real professional guys. As someone who is in the business of providing customer service daily, this was uncalled for and quite frankly needs to be brought to the owners. And yes, I have already written an email. The Shack had always been a great local Restaurant when we aren't looking to drive far. I love the views from the back deck. The tiki bar area is my favorite place to sit when I go to The Shack, but if you are looking to find a seat at the bar on the weekend, good luck. This place gets very busy, especially when they have a live band that has a local following. It's always a lovely environment, but not the most "family friendly" place to take young kids on the weekends. It had more of a day club feel, (if that's what you are looking for) with a full menu. I must say that I feel menu is a little over priced and generally tend to stay away from menu items over $20 per plate, so that excludes me from a big portion of the menu. All in all, The Shack is a cool local spot, great views of the Indian River from Palm Bay, with a food and drink menu that will do if you are trying to stay close to home in Palm Bay. read more

Prices are a lot higher, as most places now. A glass of wine, regular price... $9. My complaint isn't about the drink menu though; a bowl of Lobster Bisque was $11. It had a good flavor, but, there was not one piece of Lobster in the bowl. I had a bowl of Lobster flavored, watered-down, bisque. Not very satisfying. Service was slow, & being a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't crowded either. No excuses. Our server seemed to have disappeared. I had to get one drink from the bar, which only accepts cash. Where do I start? The beautiful view of the river was wonderful, even with the smell... The 2 Different Radio Stations playing was a bit absurd. You could hear both, but couldn't enjoy either... $150 for Lukewarm Dog Food! Took wife and her sister out for sister's birthday dinner. What was once a nice place is now disappointing to say the least. The new owners have their son, or so he said, running it and he was hardly a competent manager. After we complained about the below stuff, he said: "yeah, we did get busy," then seemed to want to walk away. So, drinks in flimsy plastic cups sweated all over the table and had to ask for extra napkins because server brought nothing-might have been her first night!?! But our table turned into a lagoon because she didn't even bring a bar napkin for our 6 drink cups. Then, dinner consisted of, at best, lukewarm food of pasta and chicken, extra $7 for weak, lukewarm chicken that was supposed to be blackened but was really just a small portion of plain chicken with paprika on top-super lame, and grouper was the same poor quality. The chef, or head cook, don't think a real chef would step foot in or claim that kitchen, has got to be the worst ever. All was TERRIBLE. A can of chefboyardee for $2 would have beaten the pasta... and the fish. The 2 star is solely for setting of tiki bar on the river which is where I think they got our water. To which the server said after we commented on the poor taste: "yeah, you'll have that with water." Save yourself from their over priced, lackluster food and go somewhere, ANYWHERE, else! read more

There was live music and it was plenty busy but we were able to find a table in the tiki bar area. The service was pretty prompt and our server was super friendly and helpful. The food was decent. The reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because of the prices. A Coors Light was more than $5 a bottle! I can buy a 6 pack for that! Ridiculous! The food is also ridiculously priced. We had three beers total, two entrees, fried pickle appetizer (spears - so wouldn't recommend), and crème brûlée for dessert. The total bill was $78!! It just all seemed very overpriced! Beer was nice and cold (We had the Pernicious IPA ) so smooth and not too hoppy for an IPA, we had the grouper bites since they were out of the fish dip which was disappointing but the grouper bites were really fresh and tasty so it worked out. The fries were very good, the onion rings were very large and greasy (as expected). Our food took a little longer than expected but not too bad (30-40 minutes). The lobster bisque has no lobster in it. It is very creamy but not really very flavorful. The bacon wrapped scallops were a bit over cooked but the sauce they were served with had a nice flavor. A very small portion of over cooked fried shrimp and fries for the price. The gumbo was enjoyed by the ones who had it. The service was terrible. We ordered and never saw our waitress again until it was time to pay the bill. The coconut shrimp was ok but the sauce is too sweet. The mashed potatoes were cold but they did replace them. To say that these people were AMAZING is a huge understatement. At the very last moment (we had 24 hours), they saved our holiday party and did it with smiles and jokes. The shack is a bit of a misnomer, they actually have a very nice facility. The inside is a bit chopped up, it looks like many additions have been made over the years. Outside the Tiki bar and patio are just fantastic, offering one of the best river views around. We have received very good service here for the most part. On weekends it gets really busy here and you may encounter a wait to get served. The Tiki bar gets a bit overwhelmed. Food wise we have only sampled the Japanese Barbecue chicken wings, they were quite good. read more

We loved the ambiance of this place, sitting on the outdoor deck/tiki bar area was a treat with the beautiful scenic views. The outdoor area is huge with lots of seating and a large bar.
