This is a fabulous spot! I went for the first time for a dinner with coworkers and cannot wait to go back. The interior of this restaurant is beautiful - we sat in a raised corner booth and the outside was filled with tropical trees overlooking the water. The food was excellent and the portions were huge. The charcuterie was 10/10 and the Cobb salad was fresh and delicious. Our drinks were also excellent and I can't wait to go back to try their wine on tap! The service was phenomenal. Amazing addition to the Mohawk Harbor! This is a self-service wine bar and cocktail lounge that exceeds expectations. The process of getting a card and orientating to the self-serve wine dispensers takes all of 2 minutes. Once you are set up you are free to taste and sample many different wines and then decide on one that fits for that particular night. The atmosphere and the self-serve wine makes this a fun date spot. Coupling that with four fire pits a huge patio and the fact they actually stay open past 11 pm makes it a welcome addition to Schenectady. read more

Two stars are for location and looks. The rest was less than desirable. Work lunch, party of about 10. Ordered drinks maybe 10 minutes after being seated. It was 20+ minutes before they started being served sporadically and some didn't make it to the table before the food. After over an hour into our visit and probably almost 40 minutes after we ordered food, I went to find the server and told her please bring my check and my food to go. I had somewhere that I had to be. Approximately 15 minutes after my request, the food started to come out. As everyone ate, I waited. (Everyone except for one who was served the wrong dish to which the server told her she didn't even realize they had what she actually ordered on the menu...) Finally went to find the waitress and was told "sorry for the wait, I'll be back ASAP." I waited at the bar as she passed by avoiding eye contact numerous times. When I got my check and my food, I was very unhappy and the food was soggy. The place was not busy by any means and there were constantly servers standing around on their cell phones. Not to mention when I walked out (finally!) the employee by the door was on his cell and there were 3 people at a table by the front door that were clearly some kind of management. Definitely didn't seem bothered by what was going on around them. Truly bad experience. I know they just opened, I get it. But I've been there for a couple of restaurant openings as an employee and they were much more smooth, professional, and enjoyable. Maybe after a while I'll go back for another try. I came with a bachelorette party understanding there would be a wait on a Saturday night, no big deal. The host who greeted us took my number and said he'd call us in about an hour when space opened up. Great! We grabbed beers at Druthers and enjoyed the harbor. When the hour passed I went back and asked the (different) host how much longer and was told they don't take numbers and don't call people. Look I get it that you're a lounge. I understand it if you choose not to take reservations or do callbacks. But do not offer something and then walk it back later. Get your staff on the same page. Truly disappointing. Awful service, no offer of assistance from the manager considering the staff messing up on whatever rules they've created but not posted. I really would love a place like this. We've been several times with different groups of people..consistently good experience! The self serve wine is a fun way to experience wine that may not be in budget by the bottle! Fondue board, charcuterie board, and chicken salad are amazing choices to share! Generous portions and our server brought us more crisps/bread when requested! Outdoor seating could be better regulated: we were told to go through and grab space if available only to be "kicked out" by a party the host was seating. Having never been here I was nervous about the vibe but I wanted to go someplace with a great atmosphere to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriends and I was not disappointed. Made my reservation for outdoor dining table a month in advance and the reservations for 7pm outside go fast for obvious reasons. The sunset is beautiful. The atmosphere is very chill and although there are a lot of people, Tbey have it set up so you feel like you are in your own little world. Although it was busy, you didn't see any sort of impatience or negativity in our waitress Casey. She was very down to earth and helpful. She even took a few seconds to take our picture from just the right angle. Drinks were delicious but expensive for the size. They have a full bar though and so many other options but being nervous we stuck to our original plan of 1 drink each. When we go back we definitely want to lounge, drink more and enjoy the atmosphere. I was given a complimentary glass of champagne for my birthday which was way better than a dessert or something like most places. We didn't mention my birthday except when making the reservation so I wasn't expecting anything . t was a great surprise. If you are worried this place is stuck up because of how nice it looks then let me assure you it's just the opposite. Almost every staff on our path out thanked us for coming and made us feel special. I didn't like my chicken bacon ranch flatbread. I found the creamy base to be too heavy and the bacon to be too smoky but that's just my personal taste. They had a Buffalo chicken wing dip special that i regret not getting as our neighboring table got it and it looked amazing. A mound of celery and other stuff to dip. If it's on the special you need to try it! Also please note they put a time limit on your visit based on how many people in your party but it's more than enough time so don't worry. read more

I always hesitate to review a place during opening week, however I think it is important to give constructive feedback and then update the review in a month or two... so here it goes. The Good - Wine selection, unique self serve options and extensive cocktail menu are impressive! I really loved the Frosé (Frozen Rosé) and I honestly will return for that and the hummus! The other shareable plates and paninis were a hit with our group too. The outdoor seating is super nice and comfortable. The space has an excellent vibe! The Needs Work - The sun - while I love some vitamin D with my wine, the umbrellas aren't plentiful enough and the inside tables near the doors are hit with direct sun as well. Some sun sails or shades would be a good addition to what is already a great outdoor space. No water pitchers were available, did I mention the hot sun? Well we needed some water to help defeat the heat. It was hard to get water glasses refilled. Other notes - The service was good, considering this was opening week. I think they will work out the small issues as they become more familiar with their space and customers. My husband had to order his wine 3 times before the glass was brought out and a cocktail order was messed up for him as well. It is all part of the opening process, so we won't hold it against them this visit! Also, worth noting, I appreciate that they need to be 21+ because of the self serve option but I think that needs to be displayed prominently so that people with younger children (mine are adults but not all 21) can plan accordingly. read more

Shaker and Vine is my new go to place for date night!! Simply fantastic, been there a few times with my wife and we absolutely love the vast wine selection, delicious food and cozy atmosphere. The self serve Wine Bar is a creative idea that works really well, I can see this trending in many cities. So far my favorites are the Chocolate Fondue and Bruschetta flat bread. I'm leaving an extra star for their "no one under 21" policy, this is important especially when people try bringing young children into this type of environment. Most people are here to enjoy a quiet time with their significant other while sampling delicious wine and cheese, not have to trip on a stroller or listen to a baby crying.. The other night I was there and a woman seemed annoyed she couldn't bring her infant inside. The way she carried on i'm glad they didn't cave and let her stay!! I almost got up and gave her my babysitters phone number.. ... If you want to bring children to a restaurant there's a Burger King off Erie Blvd, they probably have a ball pit too, or you can try Mike's Hotdogs If you're looking for a great evening out to unwind from the weekly grind, this is the place to go. read more

Had a fabulous and relaxing time at Shaker and Vine with family. The service, food and atmosphere were great...and to top it off, the cost was quite reasonable. I really cannot say anything bad about this place! The service is wonderful as every server, bartender, bouncer and even barback is very friendly and accommodating. It is a very nice scene during the week and there is an even bigger crowd on the weekends. It adds to the nightlife of Schenectady! I am starting to become a regular at The Shaker & Vine because of the atmosphere that the venue provides, I never have had a bad experience there. The self serve wine bar is phenomenal where you are able to choose the wine and what size you would like to try based on how much you want to spend. The Shaker & Vine also features frozen slushy type drinks that come in different wines such as rosé and these quickly became a favorite of mine. One minor thing I did not like is how many times I had to show my ID, for having to show it at the door and then again at the bar was a bit much. Overall I really do enjoy The Shaker & Vine and I really hope the people of Schenectady and surrounding towns give this place a shot, you will not be disappointed and will become a regular like myself. read more

Made reservations for 4, the table was ready but it was too high for my Mom to sit at comfortably. Everyone from the hostess, manager, owner, waitress went above and beyond to help us find a table we were comfortable with and even let us change tables again. I recently visited The Shaker & Vine located in Schenectady, right next to the Rivers Casino & Resort. I will be honest in the fact that I did not expect much. Even on a weekend night, they were accommodating in finding a table for my friend and I wherever they could, and it wasn't a long wait. The espresso martini was tasty, and the service was fast. Overall, the staff went above & beyond for us & the ambiance was superb. I fancied the dim lighting and the various seating that they had. The decor and ambiance here is great! We stopped in for drinks before a show. Great seating areas and excellent service. I had a red wine and other guests with me got a white recommended by our server -- they loved it and were very pleased. My fiancé was able to get a wine he loves as well so all were very happy! UPDATE: Came back for lunch -- no crowds! The outside seating is lovely, though a tad awkward for dining. The cheese fondue was velvety smooth and really tasty, but cold? Is that a thing? The charcuterie board had a lot of variety. The cheeses and jams were all excellent. The meats (especially the prosciutto) were sliced way too thick. The cocktails were outstanding. I felt bad for the servers who seemed to struggle carrying the heavy wooden boards while trying to open the patio door. We were in and out in just over an hour. The shaker and vine is a neat restaurant. It is a great spot for birthdays or a fancy meal. You need to make reservations in advance though because it can get busy in the evening--especially on weekends. The food is good. It's a little pricey for what you get, but it's a nicer place so it is not surprising. Good flavor combos and quality. Service is decent too. It's not the best I've had--not as attentive as some other experiences--but it also doesn't hinder the experience. read more

I have had my eye on this place for a while. From the pictures it looks trendy and cozy and warm and inviting. I was also very interested in finding out what the wine tasting was all about. I read the reviews and saw my Yelp friend Roger K gave it 4 stars. His reviews are spot on in my opinion. I believe he and I may have the same preferences when it comes to eating out. I always look for his review before I try a new place. This restaurant is on the first level of the condos at the harborside by the Schenectady casino. There is plenty of parking across the street. It is a very short walk to the restaurant. It was a Thursday night and the place was full but not packed. We were able to get a table for 2 right near the back windows. This was a great spot just to look around. There is a ton of wine. 50 bottles to sample if your up for it. They offer a 1 oz pour, a 3 oz pour and a glass of wine from the wine server. The prices were all different depending on the wine.. the ranges I looked at for the 1 oz pour were $1.50--$2.50ish. Since this was new to us we didn't try the sampling. I got a Cosmo and my husband got a merlot. It was happy hour and an 8oz glass of wine was under $10 and so was the martini. I had a hard time deciding what to get off the menu. There were so many choices that sounded delicious. I got the hummus appetizer for 6-8 people. I wanted to try all three types of hummus and this was the only way to do it. The waitress tried to talk me out of it, because it is a large board. I went for it anyway. It came with pretzels and all kinds of fresh veggies. The only hummus I didn't care for was the roasted red pepper. Roasted red pepper is my favorite hummus to buy at the store. This pepper hummus had no flavor and was watery. It almost tasted like they forgot to put the chic peas in there. The other 2 kinds were great and I ate them both. My husband got the southwest style chicken soup. It was fantastic with tons of flavor. He also got one of the flat breads, it was also very delicious. Overall I am giving this 4 1/2 stars. We are 100% going back. We want to do the wine tasting. Also, this place must be amazing on a summer night with all the window/doors open up to the outside looking over the mohawk. We are adding this place to our date night rotation. It will also be great with a small group of friends since they have lots of comfy style seating. It is so nice to have tons of great places to choose from in Schenectady. read more

I loved the atmosphere and it being near the water . The staff was friendly , but lacked in the accommodation . Granted they haven't been open that long and obviously the influx of people is really high , but it took forever for our food to come out, and my friend and I ordered simple salads . I want to say that it took almost a hour and a half . The waiter did sincerely apologize many times and explained that the kitchen is too small for the type of menu that they offer and they just can't seem to catch up. On the flip side the Rose slushees were amazing . I will definitely come back , but perhaps when it starts to slow down. read more

For $75 you got a bottle of wine, a small board, two entrees and a dessert. It wasn't a bad deal and everything was delicious! The cheese board we picked had a good selection, I loved the crackers that came with it, but they forgot our pickles and we are huge pickle fans. I had the blackberry jalapeno and bacon panini which was delicious! I'd love to go back to try out the self serve wine bar which would have been a good idea to include in the date package as its such a unique option. We will be back! read more

Shaker and Vine has yet again demonstrated it is the perfect place to connect with the special people in your life. The establishment is beautiful, balanced with elegance and comfort. We were sat in the back section in perfectly appointed privacy booths with a view of the general seating. The server came immediately and keeep touching base to add in snacks as we needed. we never felt rushed and sat for an extended amount of time. The wine vending, custom cocktails and tapa style food were perfect! Serious kudos to whomever writes the many signs marking the wines! They are nicer than any barista art I have seen ! I have visited Shaker and Vine five times and each time this restaurant has improved. Whatever this place is doing - they are obviously doing it right!
