    GF Cauliflower crust pizza

Oh what a treat!! I had GF Mozzarella sticks which were almost like bread sticks with Moz mixed in. Really good. Then I had the GF baked onion soup. Yum! Haven't had that in years. Then of course I topped it off with Pizza! GF puffy cauliflower crust. Not your normal cardboard. It was so good. Only caught a pic of the pizza. The rest didn't have time to get their portrait taken. Don't pass this local classic up!

Small, family-owned Italian spot with big flavor. The lasagna was fantastic, the bread is handmade fresh daily (and dangerously addictive), and the pizza dough is made in-house too. Relaxed and cozy vibe that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal. Chef Chris, the owner, came out to chat with each table and check in, which made the experience feel thoughtful and welcoming. A quiet neighborhood gem worth finding.

Oh, My Goodness!!! What a great evening at The Sicilian II Restaurant, our dear friends took us to eat there this past Saturday night. The Best Italian Food you will ever put in your mouth!! Everything was so perfect, each course of the meal, from the Flaming Saganaki appetizer "Opa"; the So So Delicious "Baked Onion Soup"; Bread Sticks; and our Excellent Italian Dishes (I had the Lasagna with real traditional marinara sauce, and my wife had the outstanding Ravioli), then to finish with a wonderful Chocolate Mousse. AND to top off the Great Meal; the visits by the Chef for each course, was the Icing on the Cake!!! He shared the history of his dad and family-owned business. The servers were the best!! Many Thanks to Our Friends (Kelly & Nick) for introducing us to Sicilian II We highly recommend visiting Sicilian II!!!! Noticed that the review showed we were from Hammond, LA, correction, we are from Hurley, MS

Everything about this place is great! The food. The ambiance. Just a simple, real Italian restaurant.

Decent atmosphere and good service. Food was a bit underwhelming and the up charges for soups and to-go orders is excessive.

Amazing food and service. What more can I say. The low-lit Ambiance was more than up to par.

Stopped by Mangiamo on Cowan-Lorraine with Patty today, but we ended up leaving and heading to…read moreOlive Garden. Unfortunately, the experience at Mangiamo was very disappointing. From what we observed, there appeared to be only two employees trying to do everything--seat guests, take orders, wait tables, and manage other responsibilities. The restaurant seemed clearly understaffed, and while those employees appeared to be doing the best they could, there was very little communication or engagement with customers. It took 10 minutes just to be acknowledged and seated despite no one waiting, followed by another 10 minutes before a table was ready. Once seated, it took another 5-6 minutes to receive water, and after that we simply sat waiting, and waiting, and waiting. We noticed other customers experiencing similar delays, and after receiving little attention or explanation, we decided to leave. No one even came over to ask why. Hopefully this was just an off day for Mangiamo, because good food alone is not enough. Customer service, communication, and proper staffing matter. A simple acknowledgment or an honest explanation goes a long way. Management should ensure they have the resources and oversight necessary to provide the experience customers expect, because first impressions and service are every bit as important as the food.

We had pasta dishes that were outstanding. The bar area overlooks the harbor, right across the street the street. It was a pretty nice view of the boats. The restaurant itself has a beautiful ambiance of a Italian restaurant. It looks to support local activities as well. A very nice place that I would absolutely return to if we are in the area.

I ordered the 12" pepperoni & ham pizza. While waiting, had a chance to talk to the owner. Very down to earth and family oriented gentleman. I used the bathroom and it was maintained and clean. The place is large enough to accommodate very large parties. The prices are decent and do not offer military discount. The pizza had a very tasteful taste sauce and small pepperonis. It was very delicious and tasty. The only recommendation that I have is there was a lot of empty space between the crust's edge and where they spread the sauce and pepperoni. I suggest to expand the tomatoes sauce to about half an inch to the crust so that every bite, will have their delicious sauce! Other than that, looking forward to my next visit to see my dad so that I can come here again and have their pizzas!

Love the texture of the crust, the sauce made from San Marzano tomatoes & of course their awesome brick oven. Fun Fact: The restaurant name, "El Fornino" means "little oven" in Italian. Another standout was our server, Jess. Talk about personality! She is so friendly and made us feel so welcome. She told us about their special "birria pizza" which isn't listed on the menu but sounds amazing. We will definitely be back to try that. Oh and I almost forgot... we split the homemade tiramisu for dessert. So yummy! Have any of you all been to El Fornino? This was our first time but definitely won't be our last. PS. You cut your own pizza with the scissors provided!
