This place said, "Why choose a country?" and I respect that. Argentinian + Uruguayan bakery/restaurant... with a Mexican corner on the menu just to keep things spicy. So yes, by my highly scientific logic, this is also a Mexican spot. The decor definitely leans Mexico, heavy, which its amazing, kept reminding me of my favorite Mexican restaurant. But anyway, we're not here for interior design, we're here to eat. There's a LOT going on here, menu wise and vibe pwise, but in a good way. I ordered the Sandwiches de Miga 'Olímpico' and if you haven't tried them yet, that's a personal failure you can still fix. They're a must. Soft, classic, comforting... except for the edges. The edges were... questionable. Hard/frozen-ish. Not blaming anyone directly, maybe the fridge settings were on "Antarctica," maybe they weren't fully thawed. We'll never know. But that first bite hurt emotionally. It was like ordering a burger without pickles, taking a confident bite, and BOOM! pickle. Suddenly your whole day shifts slightly off center. Service wise: the guy at the counter stared at me, I started my order with zero greeting, felt like human self checkout, and I'm fine with that. Sometimes you don't want conversation, you just want carbs. Despite the frozen edge plot twist, I'm 100% coming back. We went here for lunch. I had the Lucia salad, an amazing combination of lettuce, tomatoes, cranberries, avocado, mango, and grilled chicken. It was so good, I didn't even bother with dressing. My son had the daily special of chorizo tacos. While they did come on flour tortillas, which are not his favorite, the chorizo itself was absolutely delicious. I normally avoid chorizo because it can be super-spicy, but in this case, it was just beautifully flavored with touches of greens and onions on top. We both got the house-made lemonades to drink. One with mint and ginger, which my son quite liked (it's the one that looks like a green potion in the photos); one with lavender, which I adored. We were also offered toast with three different house sauces to try on it as a complementary appetizer. The decor and ambience is cozy, inviting, and charming. Service was prompt and courteous. Overall, this is a little gem of an eatery in Hackettstown that I can highly recommend. read more

I was passing through the area and stopped in here for a quick bite before any evening rushes could hit. Good timing -- three tables came in a little while after me, along with a few other people who had takeout orders! It was nice, everyone seemed friendly and people were chatting away with servers in that small-town vibe. I'd never had Argentinian cuisine specifically, but it's very close to past experiences in other establishments. There were some minor differences, but only one of them was relatively unpleasant. I'll start with the pleasant aspects: The place looked nice, and the atmosphere was different in a good way. The hanging baskets from the ceiling were eye-catching and cute, and the servers were relaxed and friendly. Everything had that cozy vibe, especially when other tables started coming in and chatting with the staff. Items came out in decent time, and I enjoyed house sauces offered, along with the popcorny-puffed fried exterior of their empanadas. Flavors were plentiful, and the four I'd tried were delicious! Dulce de batata was my favorite, but I'd need to do more sampling to figure which one tastes the best in my opinion. Sangría was fruity, but the white wine was sweeter and more peachy than the passion fruit mix, which was more acidic and nicely balanced. I didn't get to try the red one, but I imagine it tastes punchy. Fries were saltless (but still good; I don't think I could've handled the sodium), and the Sizzle Sandwich balanced that out nicely with bacon, cheese, and runny fried egg inside. The one unpleasant detail came with that though: The strip of steak on the sandwich, that also made up the layers in the Buenos Aires. It was tough, seemingly cut with the grain instead of against, making the meat really hard to break when taking a bite of anything. My friend complained of the same characteristics, and I was a little disappointed. If it was more tender, flaky, and maybe seasoned similarly to the empanada beef, it would've been absolutely incredible. I don't know if that's just how the region typically cooks their steak, but it needs a little twist, and that's why it's lacking a star. Especially since the sandwich is named after the building, I would've wanted it to be the 10/10 choice and potential bestseller. Empanadas are going to be the thing calling me back here in the future though, hands down. read more

We also called for reservation but when we got there they didnt even write our name down so when we walked in they were saying they didnt have anyone with that name. I went with my family. This is a phenomenal little gem that I drove past daily in Hackettstown, NJ and never noticed. I'm newish to Morris County and still finding my way around. The food here is so beyond delicious... it just hugs my soul. Also I think is a cute place for a nice afternoon date. The service is awesome as well. Both days I was greeted with a big, warm, and friendly smile. I highly recommend The Sizzle BBQ not just for online ordering people. Would not recommend to anyone. Service - we saw our waitress maybe 3 times in the hour when we were there for food. And had to flag down someone to find her when our issues came up. Food - I've never eaten at a place where the food was so bad that I didn't even want to pay for it. My wife had "filet mignon". 2 pieces of steak about 1/4 inch thick that she ordered medium and they were beyond well done. The steak was supposed to have a mushroom sauce but it was just a bed of mushrooms underneath the steak. I had the lasagna and it was very bad. Like my wife's steak, it was dry and hard to eat as it was just crumbling apart. Had an opportunity to have lunch-with my wife- without the kids- during a weekday! Score! We came to the restaurant at 11:30 after reading other reviews that the dining room is smaller but Decorated nicely. We were seated immediately and at the time we were the only patrons in the dining room. Our waitress was pleasant and took our order. My ordered the lady in red salad and I initially ordered the tacos Al pastor but was told that they did not have that options so I opted for the shrimp tacos. We were offered bread that were slightly stale with three different types of spreads that were extremely flavorful. We were happy that we were at least seated and snacking on the stale bread because by noon the small dining room was full and we were still waiting on our entrees a half hour after placing our order. When we finally received our entrees my wife was pleased with her salad. She was especially happy that the strawberries were fresh. My shrimp taco were not flavorful. Although I did receive four taco the portion was EXTREMELY small. Each taco tortilla was the size of two silver dollars. For $18 it definitely was not worth it. The check came. We were surprised with the 3.99% credit card usage fee that was not disclosed until squaring away the bill. read more

However, when I received my check (at the end of the meal) we were informed that an automatic 20% gratuity was added to all checks regardless of size (we were a party of three). We loved the ambiance! The food was very good, the only reason for 4 stars is the service. The drinks (all non-alcoholic, it's BYOB) took at least 15 minutes to get. The passion fruit margarita was super tasty but i ate it with a spoon as it wouldn't go up the straw. The food came out quickly but the check had the server confused (payment and a gift card had her very confused so that took forever). All in all, great place, will def go back. I don't usually post yelp reviews more than a year after I ate at the restaurant, but given that I just had some of the worst barbecue of my life at another restaurant, I felt I had to post my thoughts on the sizzle. I went here in 2022 and ordered a couple things for takeout brought them all home and everything was done very well. The portions were reasonable the price was within acceptable norms for the time given it was the end of the pandemic, and I would gladly go back again. My wife and I went to Sizzle BBQ for ribs we were told there would be 8 ribs what we got was 4 pieces of fat and very little meat that we could not chew. I never saw ribs look like that the only thing that was good was the beans and the fries. They offered to take it off our bill but all we wanted was to get out of there. We paid the bill $42.14 + a $8 tip and they gave us a bag with a piece of flan to take home. WE have eaten their several times before and it was great I don't know what happen but I would not give that meat to a dog. The chief should be fired for sending it out from the kitchen. A very cute interior and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Nice to come here to take pictures and eat good food! I first ordered the spinach and mushroom empanada. As it came out, I was disappointed at how small the empanada was. I expected a relatively large piece about the size of my entire hand, but in reality it was small enough to fit the palm of my hand and I could only finish it in two bites. However the main dishes made up for it. The quesadilla was huge and filled with large amounts of cheese that made the quesadilla and inch thick which I totally loved. Gabriel's Burger was also very large and the pulled pork was marinated perfectly. Every bite you would take is filled with flavor and sauce. However the fries that came with it were a soggy and cold. So impressed! Went here on a whim and it's the more adorable little spot with an adequate number of tables. Absolutely amazing. Had it for the first time tonight. The menu is simple yet has so many options. There are Empanadas, Salads, Burgers, Sandwiches, Argentian bbq, and even a juice bar. For me the star of the show was the Empanadas. There are at least 15 empanadas to choose from and the nice thing is that they're all one flat price. The Nutella and banana was amazing, but every empanada I ordered tasted great! The burger was also better that expected. Next time I loom forward to trying the Argentian skirt steak, the next table over had it and it looked amazing and smelled great. The space is very small and obviously run by a family, which is a great sign in any restaurant. The food is hot and obviously freshly-made and the flavors are great. The sizzle mix was what the three of us (1 adult, 2 kids) decided to try since it gave a little bit of everything. We chose rice and fries for our sides and they were delicious as well. The sizzle mix had a little bit of something for everyone and they gave us a bunch of sauces to try with our takeout. My daughter wanted to try the burger and said it was amazing. Well, perhaps an off night, however I found the culinary experience to be slightly lackluster. Surprised, based upon all of the positive reviews. Anyway, the shrimp with mango "salsa" was relatively disappointing, especially when priced at $10. 3 average shrimp on top of a cup that was filled with watery like salsa? Meh. Perhaps season the salsa and stack on a plate, and garnish with shrimp that has been given more flavor and seasoned attention. It is not he price here folks that bothers me, yet just that the dish lacked passion. As an appetizer, treat such dish as the first opening paragraph of a book. Capture ones attention! The bean and carrot empanada was also a bit underwhelming, and would have been actively enhanced had a spicy dipping sauce accompanied said empanada. Or a cumin enhanced sour cream for dipping. Something! Now, onto the 1/2 slab of pork ribs. Sure they were big in size, but small in meaty goodness. Quite frankly, there was more fat and chewy portions on the bones, which left a once again underwhelming impression. Requesting a small cup of bbq sauce definitely helped, so perhaps that could be a staple going forward. I suppose I was expecting the ribs to have some really unique dry rub flavors, being that this is an Argentinian bbq restaurant. Service was friendly, as well as attentive. I just almost wish I had not ordered the above items, and perhaps gone with one of their cheeseburgers. They had some interesting options! Would I return? yes. Would I rush back? Probably not.
