Slider sampler
Christopher R.

First time here. With " slider" in their name, of course I had sliders. SERVICE: Walked in and instantly notice the upbeat feel of the staff. They were what service should be everywhere FOOD: I had the slider sampler with mushroom& Swiss, cheesy and the honey mustard chicken. They were all good but the mushroom was best SHAKE: Simple choice of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Very good. Chunks of ice cream in the shake was fun.

We came by here Saturday morning around 10:30 AM for brunch, and were seated right away. I love a good greasy spoon diner, and this place hit the spot! They have their own parking area along the building, or there is street parking. We ordered: - biscuits and gravy - egg benedict with loaded hashbrowns - chicken fried steak - coffee We had the nicest waitress as well as the food being delicious! The hashbrowns were crispy and so tasty with the "loaded option". I enjoyed my eggs benny too, with thick juicy bacon. I would definitely come back here, and wish I had a breakfast spot like this near my house!

This was the only slider breakfast in the menu. Still yummy!

I really like the food here, updated menu was a little disappointing. Service here is always great and I love the self serve water at the table. Just wish there were more sliders on the menu. Service was fast and friendly. I'll still give you 5 stars but put some sliders back on the menu please!

What can I say, but WE. LOVED. THIS. JOINT. On our way up for a hike on Mt. Baker, we were stahhhhhhhving, so we had to make a breakfast stop. Yelp came through for us (as she always does) and said The Slider Cafe was the best place around (can confirm!) We got seated right away (though the place was mostly full, even on a Monday morning) and shortly had piping hot (and STRONG) coffee in front of us. We got our orders in--Eggs La Conner (poached eggs on English muffins with mango salsa and avocado) for me and straight up Eggs Benedict AND biscuits and gravy (simply because it'd be wrong not to order it) for my Partner In Crime™... and we both got loaded hash browns. OH. MY. GOD. Let me say that I almost never finish a meal, even if I absolutely love what I'm eating. But lemme tell ya... I gobbled up every bit of this (I may have considered licking the plate) because it was so darn good. My other half loved his eggs, too, and I can confirm that the biscuits and gravy were down-and-dirty decadent. If you find yourself in or near La Conner, get there to The Slider Cafe. You will NOT be disappointed!

Every to go order includes a little handwritten message from the staff, and they even remembered both names!

This place .... Breakfast doesn't get better than this. The food is consistently delicious, and it's plentiful. Our favorite is the Eggs Benedict. Only one time out of maybe 20 have the eggs not been perfectly done (which is SO common at diners!), and they were even more slammed than usual that time so who's complaining? Not me! The people who work here are a delight, whether they're in the kitchen or out front. They're kind, they're humorous, and they hustle HARD. Which makes the attached photo even more precious, because I happened to mention my husband's name when I calked in my to-go order this morning, and that was all it took for to get these adorable messages. Great food, great people. What more could a hungry person ask for?

A quaint little place in downtown LaConner. We were camping in the area and saw it on Yelp. It was quite busy on a Sunday around 11:30am, but the staff were quick to seat us and bring drinks. The food took around 30 minutes to get, but it was worth it! All of the food was piping hot and freshly made! If we are in the area again, we would definitely come here. The amount of food was just right for all four of us (2adults and 2 teen boys) to eat with no leftovers. Such a tasty and cute little place!

Stopped in for breakfast after driving by and seeing some posts here. Eggs Benedict was good, loaded hash browns were good. It's exactly what you would expect from a greasy spoon. Banter from the staff was a very welcomed addition, we'll be back to try the chicken fried steak next time.

Totally disappointed... the hours have not been updated on yelp and the café was closed today with a sign that said new hours Friday, Saturday, Sunday! Drove all the way there from Whidbey Island to discover it closed!!

Hobo benny

Ordered chicken fried steak, oatmeal, hobo Benny, and french toast. We took the food 5 minutes away to a park to eat and it was already cold when we got there (except for the oatmeal). However still tasted good. Chicken fried steak I feel would have been really good if hot. Kids liked hobo Benny and french toast. Slightly above average restaurant

How I really wanted to like this place but was massively disappointed and feeling honestly scammed…read moreout of my money: This is a tourist trap and not a beloved local restaurant like I thought it would be. The cafe was very busy when we arrived and had to wait about 20 minutes for an open table out on the deck. Due to how busy it was, I had high hopes that the food was good. Unfortunately it felt more catered to the one and done tourist - take their money with over priced mediocre food that certainly did not command either aesthetics or taste. What we ordered: 1. Fried calamari $18: this was the smallest portion on an appetizer plate with three calamari rings and a handful of what appeared to be minuscule tentacle pieces heavily battered to give the dish the appearance of "more". Bland and oily - nothing really outstanding here. 2. Captain's Platter $28: this was the most expensive item on the menu. I ordered it hoping that at least quantity wise it would be satisfying. It came with one fried piece of cod, one fried piece of halibut, four fried shrimp and fries. I have never eaten more bland fries in my life. They weren't even crunchy but soggy with oil as they laid under the fried fish, which likely was hurriedly plated on the fries without letting the oil drip off. The fish was overcooked for sure - the cod was so small that I was honestly offended. The shrimp - undercooked. 3. Strawberry lemonade $5: standard, on the sour side. The only pleasant thing I have to say is that the hostess and waitress were very sweet. They were definitely understaffed and I felt badly for them so I tipped well. But I would not go back and do not recommend - unless you like to waste your vacation money on this tourist trap.

Affordable lunch burger and a beer? Yup. Fancy date night romantic dinner with craft cocktails? Heck yeah. Combining a casual, marine-themed ambiance with quaint La Conner vibes, and adding in some truly delish food and drink, there are few places in the area I'd rather eat. My favorite here is their bouillabaisse, with big pieces of fish, half a fresh Dungeness crab, sausage, and all the goodness cooked in their house-made broth. All I can say is: try it. Their raw oysters are also a favorite, but I can't say I've ever had a bad dish here. One time I swung out and tried their pork chop, which was truly sent from heaven. Their wine list contains several affordable options - on one visit our group enjoyed two bottles of an exquisite rose. And if gin is in your repertoire, don't miss the Empress Aviation which is not only pretty to look at, but quite tasty as well. Their happy hour features incredible drink and appy discounts, including half price bottles of wine. And I'd be remiss not to mention their friendly, lovely service. We always feel special when we visit. What's not to love about The Fork? I'm officially hungry now!

For starters, we ordered the artisan bread, a dozen oysters, and the beet salad. As someone who bakes and sells my own artisan sourdough, I was underwhelmed by the bread. I liked the touch of truffle they add to it but it needed salt. And it also needed to be on the table well before the 35 minutes we waited for it. The oysters were also not very memorable. I can't remember what one of the varieties was, but they were brinier than I care for but that's just a personal preference. The kumamotos were the TINIEST oysters I've ever seen. I've eaten my share of kumamotos and I know Japanese oysters are generally smaller and sweeter than other varieties (which is why they're my favorite) , but I'm not exaggerating when I say they were the size of quarter. I also didn't like the frozen mignonette they served as an accoutrement. It didn't seem frozen--it spread like jam. It didn't really taste like vinegar or shallot like mignonette should. It was just not very good. The beet salad was EXCELLENT. The chèvre was generous, the bitter micro greens tasted great with the beets and chèvre. It was well seasoned. We devoured it. For entrees, I had the dayboat scallops and my husband had the duck leg. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the leek risotto was very tasty. I'm not really sure what I was supposed to do with the pickled lemon on my plate. I tried to eat a small piece with the other elements and it was so overpowering that I left the rest on my plate. Now let's talk about the protein--my $52 scallop dish came with THREE scallops. Not even whole scallops as I'm pretty sure they were cut in half to cook more evenly. Three small 1/2 scallops and two cubes of pork belly. For Fifty-two dollars. My husband enjoyed the duck, but again, the portions were disappointing. $230 later, we ended up going through a drive through because we were still hungry. Unlikely we'd return after such an expensive meal left us so unsatisfied.
