Came here yesterday (Wednesday) around 4:30pm with a friend before we went to an event in El Segundo. I found The Standard Station on Yelp by searching for happy hours. The happiest of hours it was. They have mixed drinks, wine, and beer on the happy hour menu. I opted for the Mixed Berry cocktail - liquor & muddled berries - yum. The happy hour food menu was just as good. We had two orders of the Ahi Poke (it was that great), the pulled pork sliders, chicken street tacos, and an order of wings. Let's just say I was very full for our event! The poke and sliders were a personal favorite. What gets The Standard Station the coveted fifth star is the service that we received. Three different employees made sure we had what we needed and were so incredibly attentive to whatever we needed/wanted - even though at the end of the day The Standard Station is a typical sports bar! By the time we departed a mere hour or so later the place was nearly filled! I'll be back for sure! read more

Love this place... kind of like a cheers bar. They have a ton of different IPA, happy hour everyday from 3-7... the staff always has great energy. I actually went two days in a row last week... Thursday and Friday Don't order the nachos if you don't have 2 or 3 ppl to share them with... its a fantastic portion. The chicken wings, onion rings, sliders... delicious! I wonder if they're still doing tots poutine. If you're worried about covid, they're running a tight ship as fast as that is concerned. The mixed drinks are great too. Everything is priced fairly. Monday was not busy at the standard. We waited 20 minutes and the waitress in our section totally ignored us. We asked the bus boy, who was nice, several times to please ask the waitress to come over and finally he asked another waitress in a different section to help us because she didn't want to serve us. I don't understand her. Lola for some reason had a problem serving our table. The new waitress was semi-nice but admitted that she was called to serve our table because Lola did not want to. Finally after 30 minutes the Pre-made soup came out slightly cold. The rest of the food came out very slowly after. I don't know what is up with the bartender Lola at the Standard. Other people we know also complained about Lola and her terrible service. This restaurant, and especially Lola, lack professionalism and even though I live in the local area, I will never come back to this restaurant and bar. read more

Standard always has a great selection of beers and once you are familiar with the menu there are a few stand out items they do quite well. The wings are consistently good, salads are good enough and the fish and chips are good as well. The tacos on Tuesdays are some of the best in the area and their house salsa is top 5 of my personal list. I'd love to give 5 stars but in the last 3 or so months the music has been destroying us. During lunch hours It's a tiki cover band cd on replay and sometimes you hear the same dreadful cover song in the same lunch. I'd rather listen to nothing. read more

The best part, though, is the beer list. They have a huge selection of bourbon, but we are beer people. They have your basic options to numerous craft beer options. read more

This is a great bar to go grab a beer and some food with friends. The staff is friendly and on top of it. If you can't decide what to eat or drink, ask for a recommendation. Food: I usually try and make it for Happy Hour, from 5-7pm. There is a meatball dish on the Happy Hour menu that you can't get otherwise. Worth going for that! I've also tried the loaded fries and the steak sandwich. My only regret is stepping on the scale the next day. Ambiance: The overall feel is bright and open. Big screen TVs line the wall almost all the way around and the big windows let a lot of light on. You can grab a booth, table, sit by the bar, or sit at the big communal table. read more

Trying to find a place in El Segundo to watch March Madness games and found this little gem! I was surprised when we first walked in for a Sunday afternoon how busy and active this place was! Typical "dive bar" layout and super casual. We're happy to find that they have happy hour EVERYDAY from 3PM-7PM. My boyfriend and I are H.H. obsessed so we ordered some drinks and food. For drinks we ordered the Gin and Margarita on Happy Hour. The margarita was "so-so", but the Gin was so refreshing and tasty! Would definitely recommend the HH Gin for a nice warm sunny day. We ordered some of their Happy Hour food menu items - brussel sprouts, steak sandwiches, thai chicken wings & tots. The brussel sprouts weren't my favorite, lacked taste and super oily. I appreciated the waitress bringing extra bread to dip in the oil. Everything else was super tasty for Happy Hour prices! The Thai Chicken Wings were bursting with rich zest asian flavors. The steak sandwiches were very filling and satisfying. The tots and that sauce was super tasty as well! I just wish there was a menu dedicated to their beers, we were seated in the back-corner and it was hard to see what beers that had on tap or on rotation. Overall, I admired this restaurant and would definitely come back. Having places in El Segundo open later than 10PM is hard to find, so I'm glad the Standard Station is open past 11PM on most nights! read more

To be honest, we only came for the 5.00 happy hour food. We were not super hungry and just wanted a few snacks. We did not drink any booze. My wife wanted a coke, but they were out of then. We ordered the pulled pork sliders, the hummus, the queso and the edamame. The best item was the pulled pork. The buns were soft, the onion straws crispy, the pork tender and the slaw refreshing. The queso was gross. It looked like a blob of melted velvetta. The edamame was also flavorless. It was supposed to have an asian sesame sauce, but it was steamed with a squirt of sauce in the middle of the edamame. Most of the actual pods did not have any sauce on them. The hummus was meh. Not super flavorful, however it was a generous portion. It was served with cucumbers, carrots, celery and warm pita bread. Our bill was 21.85 and I left down 40.00. The server did not bring me back my .15cents. its not the money, its the point. Pretty presumptuous. I would not eat here again. read more

This is a fairly typical, loud sports sports bar in downtown El Segundo, decorated with old gas station type knickknacks alluding to the longstanding oil refinery down the street. You might say that for a sports bar, it's fairly Standard (sorry, couldn't resist). Good beer selection; my Stone IPA was just as it should be. I also had the Blue Cheese burger - it was just alright, don't expect fancy gourmet and you won't be disappointed. The garlic fires were just OK too, as the garlic was simply raw out of a garlic press - I prefer roasted garlic, but these are minor quibbles. Price for the burger and beer ended up being $27 out the door, which seemed about typical for the South Bay. I missed happy hour by about 30 minutes, as it ends at 7 pm. Service at the bar was friendly and prompt, and the place was close to packed on a Thursday evening with a mixed crowd of locals of all ages. Lots of TVs all with the football game on, so if you're a pigskin fan then this is probably a good place to catch a game. read more

I went with the all American cheeseburger, and although it seemed like a safe choice, it was an excellent choice! It's a pretty standard local hooch haunt named for Standard Oil (which founded El Segundo). Inside is filled with memorabilia plus an active blonde bartender serving Sex on the Beach for Olivia and monster-size Beers for me. Ya, I'm not afraid to use the B-word: Beer-otches. There's plenty of finger foods, appetizers, and breakfast classics on the menu. We tried the Sweet Potato Fries and a Stack of Pancakes. Don't go to the Standard Station for the blah pub grub (despite a 20% off Yelp Check-in Deal). Go for the drinks and sports on the tellies. Standard Station is a bar in downtown El Segundo. it is located on Standard St. and decorated in an oil & gas motif like an old service station. It is also named after the Standard Oil Company (now Chevron) which is the refinery located down the street. They have several good bars on tap. The service is a little slow though. The Standard Station is a former gas station turned bar. The decor is cool and the drinks were very, very good! My favorites were the Berry Blast, which was made with real berries; and the Vanilla Lemonade, which was a perfect balance between sweet vanilla and sour lemonade. In fact, I will try to make this one at home when the weather gets warmer in the summer! I didn't have any appetizers, but others in my group did. The sliders and fries looked great. I also heard that the tacos were pretty good. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The Standard Station is definitely a great option for happy hour in downtown El Segundo.
