I've seen this place change hands several times since living in El Segundo and it seems like the new owners finally figured out something that's gonna work. Lots of great beers on tap. Friendly service. Plenty of seating. A bit of a pain to get seated (you have to flag someone down...no host/hostess) but even when the place is packed that doesn't take long at all. I had the turkey burger which was cooked to perfection and juicy as well as a BLT which was massive. The best discovery so far? Their bloody marys. Super spicy and served with a strip of bacon in it. Relocated from Chicago and found myself living in El Segundo. Best kept secret in LA area. I have been searching the country for the best burger, I can't declare my #1 until my death bed but the burgers here are in my top 3. Fresh ground grilled to perfection beef, on a soft sweet bun is mouth watering. Add the homemade chips and now I'm really happy. So I went to watch Da Bears on Sunday morning and ordered a brunch item that caused me to walk it off after the game. Delicious and I need to experiment with other entrees... I'm stuck on this egg/bacon sandwich... What a wonderful town filled with friendly people and this local gathering place has great good and service. I go often! Found this spot last night by searching sports bars in the El Segundo area just to experience something new. This place would be described "the local watering hole". We walk in and sit close to the bar and were greeted immediately with menus and asked if we wanted a drink. Their beer selection (in my opinion) was pretty good and I got the Koko Brown Kona Brewing Co beer and it was YUM. My friend got an old fashioned. We ordered wings and loaded fries...typical bar good watching the Golden State Warriors game. The wings are very good! The fries are good but nothing too special but you can't get too special with fries, bacon and chives. There's a bunch of places to sit and everywhere has a great and close view of a TV with a game of your choice. Last night was an LA Kings came but we went to watch the basketball game. We asked our server if we could change one TV to the game and she was so nice and did it without hesitation. This place is where owners get close with their regulars and care about the people in it. I believe the owner was hanging out with friends and having a beer when someone was walking out really drunk saying he's going to drive home and he only lives 2 blocks away. The owner said no he wasn't and I believe helped him get home. I don't know for sure if the owner was the one who helped him out, but it seemed like it and I really appreciated that. We walked in to order but got our food to go and the wonderful waiter brought us waters and still treated us and dine-in patrons. Great little dive bar! The reasons it gets only four star are because of the following: no parking: you have to find street parking and it does get packed; no one to greet you once you come in so you have no idea where you can grab a table; and it gets so incredibly loud you can't even here yourself talk. Other than those things, everything else is great. Surprisingly, the food is not bad for a dive bar. I had the fried zucchini and mushrooms to start. The batter was tasteful and not overwhelming. The zucchini was better than the mushrooms because the batter did keep the moisture and the crunch. I had the steak dinner. The steak was a little overly done at medium well but was still not too dry. The mashed potatoes on the side were awesome! It had a hint of garlic but did not overpower the potatoes. The veggies on the other hand were too under cooked for my taste. My friends both had the chicken fried steak and both enjoyed it. I tried a piece and it was good. The batter was not too thick and it definitely was salty enough to flavor the meat. My friend also tried the garlic fries and said that although it was good, the garlic was a little too much. The best part of the meal, the schooner beer! 32 oz of awesomeness! And the best part, my Coors light schooner was only $5! That is just ridiculous because you normally pay $5 for an 8 oz. The schooner came out ice cold and remained cold until the last drop. Great way to end a dinner! Although it did take awhile for us to find someone to clear a table for us, once we sat down, the service was great. I don't follow sports, but it seems a popular place for that judging by the 8 million inch TV above our table. Seems like a decent Happy Hour crowd too. We had a good time. Regular fries came with order instead of the sweet potato fries that I ordered. I pointed it out to the waitress, but said not to worry and that it was fine. Even though it is set up as a sports bar, the food is restaurant quality and is consistent. Everything on the menu tastes great. The local selection of beers changes so there is always something to try. Every visit to Standard Station is bliss due to their wonderful staff. It's sad to say that the service that was given was not only horrible but felt a little discriminated. Our waiter made us feel like we where not good enough to dine there and as if our money wasn't as good as the next patrons.. He took our order as he rolled his eyes and felt like we where wasting his time. The female servers where more attentive. We are residents of El Segundo and we are trying new places around town. Imagine driving down a highway on an empty tank only to be welcomed to the sight of the only gas station around. When walking in the station to pay for gas you're greeted by a man with a pot belly, overalls, and oily hands. Well this place isn't like that Ha! It does have traces of an old stand-alone gas stations which is very cool. There's lots of TVs so anywhere you sit is a good seat. Very spacious bar but can easily be overlooked when searching for the location. Can't wait to go for a professional sports game. read more

Ive been coming to this bar for 15 years. There were 4 people in our group and the bar was not busy. it was Friday around 7pm. We sat down at a dirty table and waited for someone to come offer us a menu/drink. No one did so i got up and walked to the bar. There were people behind the bar but when i walked up everyone scattered. Wtf. After standing there for about 10 mins i walked back to my table and finally an angry waitress came to our table with the worst attitude. Imagine a moms face if you were to punch her baby. This is the look she had. I asked for 2 805s beers. The total was under $19 or so. I gave her a $20 and she never asked me if i wanted my change back. She just assumed that was my tip. I was going to tip more. I know how it works. The other couple in our party showed up and once again they got the attitude from the same waitress. I really think she confused us with someone else. We are good tippers, i promise. My brother is a bartender and always tips 25% or more. I usually do 18%. We like this bar and i want to give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe her dog died or something. We quietly paid our tabs and chugged our drinks just to get out of her way and avoid her dirty stares. Fun sports bar. I like that they have booths with comfortable padded seats. Service was good. The food was mostly large portions of average stuff. The garlic rosemary fries were basically ok regular fries. Fortunately the bland onion rings came with ranch dressing. The wings I would get again. We got half bbq, half hot wings. The hot wings were very good. The nachos were satisfying but nothing special. My gf's and I were done drinking for the night here but our waitress was fine with giving separate bills. Popped in here a couple of different times, once for dinner before a pickup at LAX, and then again for lunch this week while dropping someone off at LAX. Casual, easy going atmosphere, good menu for a bar although not as extensive as I'd prefer. Lots of beer options on the menu and the staff and other patrons are friendly. Had the Asian Chicken Salad and it was nicely done. Fresh, crispy, chicken wasn't over cooked, and the salad had just the right amount of dressing. Previous trip we'd had two burgers and some ceviche and it was good as well. Definitely worth a stop. It's less than a mile off Sepulveda, near the center of El Segundo, so not a huge detour if you're in the area. Worth the side trip to get away from the fast food restaraunts and enjoy a locals place. read more

Looking for a good sports bar near Torrance and I found this place here in Yelp. In a nutshell, it's much more food-oriented than your average sports bar. More like a well-priced bar and grill with lots of TVs. Biggest highlight has to be the large PBR schooner for $5. Who does THAT anymore? Love not getting gouged on beer. Also really enjoyed my spicy black bean veggie burger. One of the best veggie burgers I have had lately. Very substantial. Doesn't squish out the edges. Served with plenty of lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. Really loved the garlic fires on the side with rosemary, I believe. May have been the best I've ever had. A deal at $8! Finished up with a mountain of home made potato chips with a side of a chipotle ranch ($4). Delicious, but couldn't finish. Brought those home for wife and daughter to devour and rave over. Nachos were highly recommended, but I didn't get that far...ran out of appetite! :) Service was very pleasant. Bartender-server found the game I wanted on the TV right in front of me. Refills on the water. Happy to pack up my leftovers. Manageable, cozy size. Friendly, neighborhood, convivial atmosphere. Felt totally comfortable watching the game with my 3 year old son. FIRST NOTICE WHAT I DID NOT ON MY WAY IN, THIS PLACE GETS A "B" FROM THE HEALTH DEPT!!! Some might not be bothered by that, but in this day and age, I'll take that as things aren't on the up and up. So this place is labeled as a sports bar and that it is, but past that it is one I would never return to. Don't get me wrong the beer was a decent price and they had plenty of screens (its one saving grace), but the draw backs are what will keep me out. It was evening and I still feel with the lights on, it might just be a few notches above a dive bar. The service was SSSSLLLOOOOWWWW. It took forever to get our drink, ya OUR DRINK, because after that wait they totally forgot (1of2) drinks a beer and cider...tough stuff. We ordered the nacho's which having missed the health department sign was a good call. It was slopped on the plate, nothing special and completely forgettable. They never checked on us and again took a while to get a second drink order in. There is essentially no street parking. You need to go around to the local shopping center to park here. So you have a short walk to get there, or you go find a better sports bar. read more

Came here to try and get some drinks and catch the fight. Not one to write negative reviews unless really warranted but this place's service was awful. My girlfriend and I waited at the bar about 20-25 minutes without so much as being acknowledged. Bartender came right up to the people standing right next to us and checked if they needed anything and ignored us multiple times. I tried to flag another one and she said "we r busy". Always a great craft selection on tap with great service. The only thing that made me sad is there's now a For Sale sign on the building. Cocktails are average. Place is loud. Black granite bar top with no rail with plenty of overhang. Nice wide box footrest. Bar back includes shelves, lit bottles and mirrors on bar back, with a couple TVs. Decent place so it's a shame about the service. Oh my gosh. That burger was ridiculously delicious! The sweet potato fries were perfect. The water was refreshing, but let's be honest, I didn't come here for water. I usually order their breakfast burrito, wish is also great (breakfast is only served on Saturdays and Sundays until noon), but I came here on a weekday this time so I decided to try the Slightly South of the Border burger, and my life will never be the same! The brioche bun that it was served on was golden and moist. The ghost pepper cheese excited my taste buds and my capsaicin sensors. The beef was savoury and fantastic. Everything about my burger and fries made my day. My mouth is watering again as I write this review. Why am I torturing myself so? Found this pub on a Dodgers fan site so my husband and I went to check it out during the MLB playoffs. The place is nice and ample. We sat in our usual spot (the bar) and ordered a Loaded Fries as a starter. I eventually ordered the Tri Tip sandwich and the hubster ordered the Leaded Burger. Everything was excellent. The staff is great and you can tell they have fun and have lots of regular customers. Lots of take-out orders throughout the night. If you're a LA Dodgers fan, this place is a blast! The energy of the fellow Dodger fans is great. We chanted and sang Take Me Out To The Ballgame during the 7th inning stretch. I met a friend here, my first time there (he lives close by). Great food and good service.

First visit. Very happy. They open early on the weekends and have a great breakfast menu (served until 12pm). Coffee is good. I had an ahi tuna salad that was delicious, my one and only complaint to the kitchen is that the goat cheese in it was not fresh at all. GREAT SERVICE even though the place was packed for the game. Enjoyed our first visit. Great sports atmosphere with lots of TVs on to events. They have a really good selection of burgers and sandwiches. The burgers are 1/2 pound and pretty tasty, I had the blue cheese and bacon. They also come with a selection of sides that typically cost more in other restaurants regular fries, garlic fries, sweet potato fries, and coleslaw. A side salad is extra. I had the garlic fries that were pretty good. They also have a nice selection sandwiches, my partner enjoyed the Reuben,which looked really good.
