The best part of the entire building, the Coffee Shop entrance is closed...so Is the Coffee Shop! We made reservations to meet friends for dinner, we are locals, and give this place another try....upon walking into the restaurant, we had 5:00 reservations and it was 4:58, we were told that we would have to wait until 5pm to enter. The entire restaurant was dark, no table set ups, no table clothes, just one very rude waiter. We were told to put our masks on, which seemed weird being that we were the only 2 people in the entire building. Decided to escape while we still could...walked down the street to The Catch, welcomed with open arms, even though we did not have reservations and the place was filling up FAST! Fantastic meal, as always and will NEVER return to what could have been a local landmark fabulous restaurant. read more

I went to a seminar held upstairs behind the bar. This room had a really cool european look beam ceiling. The artwork in the room should be trashed. It was awful. We had a free dinner, choice of chicken breast or tri tip. We both had the beef, which was overcooked and too dry. It came with salsa, and fresh green beans. The surprise highlight was the wonderful steamed new potatoes, cooked just right, and seasoned perfectly. We also had dinner salads which were good, nice green lettuce, and they served a choc. This was our first visit here for breakfast. We opted to sit at the counter and not take a booth. For the prices charged and the food provided, this place is definitely geared for patrons of the Inn. It would be more convenient for those who are staying here to grab breakfast than be adventurous and leave the premises for food. I was a bit disappointed. My eggs and diced ham wasn't worth the $13-15 they were charging. With all the fanfare that Paso eateries seem to get lately, this one is kind of lacking or maybe I just ordered the wrong item. Service was friendly, I'll give it that and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed her pancakes which were the size of her head (she's 10). As a local, I needed to go here to try it but it's not going on my breakfast rotation. I'll leave it for the visitors. read more

I've been coming here off and on several times over the past 6 years. While it's always been good, there always seemed to be something "just ok" that could be improved. That said, I just revisited after about a year and was very impressed with what seems to really be an improvement across the board. The atmosphere has always been cozy, but it seemed even better this time. Dimly lit lights, white linen table clothes, cozy candles, and a roaring fireplace. What a wonderful site to walk into on a cold winter night. Food was superb! Caesar salad was a step above any I've had and the filet mignon was prepared perfectly. The bordelaise sauce was so good I drizzled it on my baked potato, French green beans and crusty bread -- not just for the steak! My server (Sally) was spot on! She was on top of timing with salad vs. entree and tuned in to my every need. Super sweet, confident, and one of the most polished servers I've seen in Paso. What a great night it was! A friend and I stopped in for dinner this past Saturday. It was about 6pm. We started with the Calamari it was under cooked and the batter was falling off. My friend ordered the 14oz Rib eye, Medium Rare, and I order babe back ribs. The steak was over cooked and even more had no flavor. No seasoning at all. His potatoes were cold. Now for my ribs. They came out with the bbq sauce just piled on top of the ribs. They had no sauce bake in or on the ribs. Not what you would expect. Just very poor for a stake house in a city like PASO ROBLES. I am giving 10 stars ! I was in Paso Robles celebrating my Birthday with my family and made reservations. We were seated within 10 minutes of arrival and we were seated inside at a Booth overlooking the Koi Pond and gardens. The ambiance was perfect, soft lighting, great sound acoustics, comfortable booth seating, gentle music playing in the background so that we could easily talk to each other. Our server was Ashley and I give her 10 stars. Upon being seated we were served complimentary warm bread, it was fresh and soft. I ordered the Filet Mignon with Garlic Mashed potatoes and Asparagus which I split with my Mom and Ashley made sure that the Filet Mignon and sides were evenly split and served on separate plates so we didn't have to do it. That was a nice touch ! I ordered a Dirty Vodka Martini and it was spot on ! Served in a proper Martini glass with the perfect amount of olive juice. My Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection and was tender, juicy and full of flavor and the sides were cooked to perfection as well. To end the evening, Ashley served us a chocolate lava cake with Vanilla Ice cream, it was spectacular ! I've eaten here a number of times. Brought visitors here tonight and the meal was awful. Ordered the 10 oz prime rib. Ordered medium rare. Arrived medium. Potatoes were cold. Caesar salad had literally no dressing on it. My guests food was hardly any better. The only good part of our meal was the appetizer. For what you pay here the meal should be much much better. Every one was kinda dry and absurdly tough. Our forth, who had pasta, was happier. Service was good, ambiance is nice enough, wine list is weak for a restaurant in the heart of Paso Robles, but for a place that bills itself as a steakhouse? I wouldn't come back. I had high hopes for this restaurant but extremely disappointed. The prime rib was barely edible it was so tough. Not to mention the meat wasn't warm. The waitress didn't know what a Riesling wine was. It took at least 15-20 minutes before anyone came to our table to greet us. We were the first in the dining room. Nice, old-fashioned steakhouse with large portions and good quality meat. My filet was perfect, as was the bordelaise and baked potato. We can here for Father's Day brunch. Shocked that it wasn't very busy, but now I know why. Sub par brunch buffet. Server had to be hunted down more than a few times. Glasses not refilled, generic food. And get this, no toast, no English muffins, and they ran out of bagels. I had to pay for a side of toast? Really? They have remodeled and the dining area looks good, better booths and set up, however the poor service, limited choices at the buffet, and general lack of care present by management, make this a non recommended place for brunch. We made a reservation here after checking out their reviews... we had just purchased some great wine in Cambria that would go great with an awesome prime rib from Black Hand Cellars. We noticed on their Yelp that Wednesday is Prime Rib Wednesday! We sat on the patio, were greeted by a nice server and it was all wonderful from there! We got an appetizer of grilled artichoke and then both got the Prime Rib special! Everything was absolutely perfect, even added on a lobster tail to one of our dinners to share and it was wonderful! It was cooked the way we asked, but it just was not flavorful and it had a lot of gristle. Much of it was inedible. I usually love ribeye too. This one was boneless and just had some odd flavors to it. I also love asparagus, but all I could taste on this one was the bbq grill it was cooked on, and it was a bit tough too. This was the worst dining experience I've ever had in Paso Robles. First of all my waitress was very nice but clearly did not know how to provide proper service. She didn't clear any plates before bringing new dishes, didn't bring a knife for the meat, (i literally had to tear meat apart with two forks because she disappeared for about 15 minutes) My greens had so much salt I had to send it back and the salad was all lettuce with mane 3 little tomato's. It took an hour to get our food. We waited 10 minutes, with an appetizer at our table, for plates and silverware. The server said it was because there was a large party. That didn't make us feel any better. Not one of us was happy when we left. $200 broker and unsatisfied. At least we didn't have to pay for the steak, still $200 for 3 entrees. Went in here "blind." Sent my wife in to scout it out. She had two reasons we stayed. #1 Plenty of people inside and 3 magic words Chicken Fried Steak. It's a nice dining room and patio/grounds outside. The menu was standard fare and prices were reasonable. Good coffee. Fine, attentive, friendly and smiling service. Now the food. My son (only 8) and I ordered the CFS. I was so proud the little guy stepped up and abandoned the kids menu. The CFS was only $10. The big plate was a ten. Great steak, crispy, ok portion and delicious country gravy. The eggs were fine and the hash browns were some of the most flavorful I've ever had. I know, weird to say , but true. I cleaned the plate plus the 2 slices of orange and parsley. it came with a biscuit that was really fresh and tasted truly homemade. My son enjoyed his, unfortunately; I didn't get to clean up much. Wife had a Denver omelette ($10). Looked big and fresh. Same hash browns, biscuit with a complimentary dish of gravy and same results...empty plate. Daughter had bacon and eggs($9). Standard. The bacon came 4 slices, well fried, thick and delicious. It looked like the had some good bloody mary's, nick named Worlds Best .I can't wait till next time. read more

We spent 5 days in Paso Robles for a week of golf with a small group of 4 couples. We stayed at the Paso Robles Inn and this steakhouse is the in-house restaurant. We did not have dinner but we did have breakfast one morning. The food: one egg $2 toast $2 seasonal berry bowl $10 Plain Belgian Waffle $10 2 coffees $2.99 each The problem is the price for the small bowl of berries and $10 for a plain waffle. It cost us $32.30 for minimalist breakfast. Compared to the other places we went for breakfast, this was very expensive. We only had the breakfast on the first morning we were there and went to other places for our subsequent morning meals. And, on top of that, the service was very slow. I have tried to be gracious to places of business and be completely honest with my reviews, especially during Covid. We were literally two feet away from our table and they would not allow us to pull out the chairs and sit outside because we didn't have masks for small children. The people at the tables around us were not masked. We would have been allowed to sit if we masked all six of us. So why couldn't we have just sat down? The people eating two feet away from us can't spread the virus but we could just standing there? They need to reevaluate and maybe train their staff a little better as to the rules during this time... read more
