Christmas Dinner Brunch It was a little disappointing. Non of the sauces or gravies were near the carving station. The salad bar seemed thrown together at the last minute and the dressings were not labeled. Several platers were empty and not filled in quickly enough. The menu displayed on the website was not what was served. For the cost of the buffet I would probably find somewhere else to eat. Ham was very dry and the prime rib was a little under done. After reading yelp reviews, I was hesitant to make a reservation here, but so glad we gave it a shot! We were guests at the hotel, so the convenience was key. Jessie was our server and he was great! Super friendly, and went above and beyond to accommodate us with our squirmy one year old. The food was excellent. We had the Brussels sprouts, a wedge salad, and prime rib with mushroom risotto and sweet potato fries. My mouth is salivating just thinking about the delicious meal I had. Didn't love the menu which is apparently new. Our server did not know her menu and its ingredients very well and was not helpful with suggestions. The house salad with fig balsamic dressing, had a lot of horseradish and was thick and gummy. A few beet squares, cherry tomatoes and greens. I couldn't eat it as I don't like horseradish but the server charged me anyway when I let her know and just took it away. Irritating. The clam chowder had pretty much no clams but plenty of bacon and heavy cream. My soup and salad was $17! Yikes! Hubby's Fish and Chips were fine. Not exceptional but decent. read more

We came here for a late dinner (8:45 pm) with our elderly parents and were seated right away. Staff was all extremely friendly and professional, food was excellent. There was a small charge for splitting plates but worth it because we were staying in a hotel and not that hungry. Each plate came out beautifully garnished and had a full portion of potatoes and lovely full serving of perfectly-cooked veggies. Pro: Great location. Easy walking distance from many downtown hotels. Nice interior Con: Terrible wine menu. Very limited, printed on cheap paper like a rough draft at the last minute. Horrible service. Waiter came by our table, introduced himself then disappeared. Finally ordered wine from the manager. We ordered prime rib and a salad. He brought them all at once. Who doesn't serve the salad first????? Prime rib was rare. I ordered medium, with a touch of pink. He never brought the chimichurri sauce we requested. He never came back to check on us. We told him we were not happy with the service and he made some excuse about being busy. Don't think so....the restaurant wasn't full but if you are that busy then check in and let us know we haven't been forgotten. Told the manager and she sincerely apologized and comped our two glasses of wine. Waiter failed to take it off the tab so we had to bring it to his attention. It's really strange that Paso Robles doesn't have a killer steakhouse like those in south county. This is about the best and most consistent you will find. I've had the New York and sirloin. They were both cooked the way I asked and seasoned well. The price is very reasonable. The salads and shrimp are also good. I was surprised to find this restaurant only has 3 stars on Yelp! I thought it was excellent overall. From that moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile and sat promptly at a nice table with a view. Our server was also friendly and brought us some warm bread and drinks pretty quickly. We had the calamari which was good and came with an aioli sauce which made it even tastier. We also had the special which was a bacon wrapped filet with mashed potatoes and the pasta dish which came with a creamy dill sauce. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. My husband and I are long time residents of Paso Robles. We have never been to the steakhouse. Last night was our first experience. It may not be for everyone. Definitely not for us. But if some patrons like to sit and really enjoy a long relaxing dinner then this is the place. It took about 15 mins to order our drinks and appetizer. About 30 mins to get out appetizer. Now let me tell you, if you love burnt to a crisp brussel sprouts, you would be in love! We finally ordered when the sprouts were delivered. Which took about 40 mins to get. Can't believe we still have such a racist establishment as this one and remains in operation. Very embarrassing and a total disappointment!!! We were there at 8:10 PM and the employee told us that they are not allowing guest with five or more in their party (There were five of us). When asked if we could break up the party and have two tables, she said no because they only have two waiters. We then said we don't mind waiting, she said, "we don't seat guest after 8:30 PM". My wife and I are locals. We tried to have dinner at the steakhouse the 27th of December. We looked into the dining room and it was essentially empty. We asked about dinner and we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't. We were informed that if we didn't have a reservation we would have to eat in the bar which is upstairs. My wife and I are disabled to the point where the stairs would be a challenge. We were told that the dining room is reserved for travelers. We decided if the Paso Robles Inn Steakhouse wouldn't seat us for dinner in a dining room with only two tables occupied, we would spend $100 somewhere else for dinner, thank you management! read more

We had a wonderful time. We brought a bottle of local wine, that is special to use. No corkage fee!!!! The meal started with fresh crusty bread and butter. My family, daughter and I came out to Paso Robles for my mom's 70th. We stayed at Paso Robles Inn, and since we were tired from the drive, we decided to go to "The Steak House". It was convenient and we were able to walk over there. Ok, now for my take in the place. 1st, we're on the Central Coast of CA, so the wine out here is fantastic. This restaurant's selection was mediocre at best. As for our waiter, Joey he was great. Very accommodating and polite. My 10 year old is picky, but he was abke to suggest something she would agree to eat. My dad had the prime rib, and he enjoyed it. Mom had the fillet mignon, but it came out a bit cold, and was a little tough. All of our meals weren't hot when they came out. That was disappointing. I had a 10 ounce New York strip with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The steak was tough, but done properly. The vegetables and potatoes weren't all that great. It was a nice atmosphere, and service was good. Look, you might like this place, and I'm far from a food critic. I know what I like, and i wouldn't go back. Across the street from Paso Robles Inn are some really great restaurants, so take a nice stroll across the street, and you'll come across top notch food, bars, and some tasting rooms that you will, in my opinion very pleased with. Lets start with the steak. Had the prime was fantastic! But then everything else came to a screeching holt service was slow maybe because I was a table of 1 the tip wasn't as enticing. Literally waited 20 minutes or more for my dessert to go. The ambience is very nice romantic setting windows face the downtown park. Had the service been better this would be a 5. Very disappointing. We arrived Friday night of Harvest Fest (Oct 2020) and due to Covid couldn't find many open reservations. The Steakhouse had one and we went for it and were not disappointed. It's located in the historic Paso Robles Inn, which we weren't staying at however enjoyed the grounds. They have expanded their outdoor seating in a beautiful setting with lights, fountains and plenty of social distancing. The grilled artichoke was amazing but we think the garlic aioli and chipotle aioli di gave us digestive issues around 3am (that's the only dish we shared) however the grilled salmon and halibut ceviche were amazing! If I could leave zero stars, it would definitely be well deserved. We came here for a large team retreat, a separate area was reserved for our group. I know serving a large group is quite a task, I worked in restaurants for several years. Having said that, I was served a cold and rare filet mignon. The management had no regard for quality to the food. It was the worst service I have received in my life. Nothing was fixed. No apology or any authority to speak of. This was the most miserable experience. Honestly we are going to Taco Bell because that's a step above the garbage I was served tonight. And a million times cheaper. STAY AWAY! We stayed at the Paso Robles Inn and this is the restaurant attached. There is even have a cafe in the back. They have the best omlets. We had breakfast here twice. The omlets are fluffy! I had the mushrooms one and my sister had one veggie one. We both opted out for breakfast potatoes. The service here was great. We always had refills on coffee and never had to ask for anything. Pricing for omlets are $13-15 dollars. Really worth it. And the omlets are large enough to share. read more

This restaurant sits inside the Paso Robles Inn. I haven't been here in almost 17 yrs. and it's still doesn't disappoint. I had the ribeye and my son the filet. Both were perfectly cooked and came with several choices of sides and sauces, we had the Gorgonzola cream butter, awesome! The rest of the menu has a good variety, the wine list isn't as long as it could be, but the service was perfect. They are in the middle of a remodel now, so the ambiance isn't what it should be, but when they are done it should be nice. read more

Ordered through "Doordash" on Friday night during the fair. Delivery arrived on time estates. The small 41$ Filet mignon was barely warm. The ample portioned salmon was at best warm. Like the food had been on the table for 20 minutes.. I don't know if the fault is doordash or The steakhouse for the lack of temperatures to our food. Will not be using dooordash or ordering out form The Steakhouse agin in any case. The filet mignon was tender and tasty especially with the sauce provided. The cold mashed potatoes and carrots where tasty as well. Salomon was also very good. The Crispy Brussels whet excellent in the smoked goat cheese fondue sauce. The jumbo shrimp cocktail ( thankfully still cold) was very good. The house salad was proper temperature and was a good sized salad. I wanted to like this place. The service is great but the food is absolutely horrible. Wedge salad: was the only edible thing that we had. But not sure why they put walnuts in the salad. It didn't add anything. 14 oz Ribeye: very thin piece. I think it was a cheap piece of meat. It was more comparable to a flank steak. We ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well. It was just ok. Creamed spinach: I felt my cholesterol go up just looking at it. It was SO salty. I love creamed spinach and I couldn't finish this side dish. Lobster Mac: disgusting. Inedible. And the lobster was very fishy. The portion size was extremely small (thank goodness). You're better off going to any Ruth Chris and ordering the lobster Mac for $19 (this one was $15). The portion would be double the size and it would actually taste decent. We skipped dessert. LOL. read more

This is a Breakfast Review. in the Steakhouse. After two days camping @ the lake, without much good food, we needed a big yummy meal. Tried to look on Yelp, but our battery died. Went in here "blind." Sent my wife in to scout it out. She had two reasons we stayed. #1 Plenty of people inside and 3 magic words Chicken Fried Steak. It's a nice dining room and patio/grounds outside. The menu was standard fare and prices were reasonable. Good coffee. Fine, attentive, friendly and smiling service. Now the food. My son (only 8) and I ordered the CFS. I was so proud the little guy stepped up and abandoned the kids menu. The CFS was only $10. The big plate was a ten. Great steak, crispy, ok portion and delicious country gravy. The eggs were fine and the hash browns were some of the most flavorful I've ever had. I know, weird to say , but true. I cleaned the plate plus the 2 slices of orange and parsley. it came with a biscuit that was really fresh and tasted truly homemade. My son enjoyed his, unfortunately; I didn't get to clean up much. Wife had a Denver omelette ($10). Looked big and fresh. Same hash browns, biscuit with a complimentary dish of gravy and same results...empty plate. Daughter had bacon and eggs($9). Standard. We loved it here! I highly recommend this place! We enjoyed a lovely dinner in the outside patio overlooking koi fish in a pond near the biggest Japanese maple true ever! Aaron was our waiter who was very knowledgeable about the Inn and the surroundings. I enjoyed the halibut and my hubby enjoyed the prime rib steak; a sampler of almonds, olives, bread and another interesting olive oil mixed with artichoke was complimentary. Do not believe the negative reviews listed here. I was reluctant at first, but I am so happy I ate dinner and breakfast at The Steakhouse. I was here staying at the Inn for a short vacation with my sweetheart. First, the venue is elegant but understated with good, unobtrusive lighting. The service is great - waiters polite and attentive. Also, the steaks and side dishes are amazing. My steak was perfect (medium well) as was my dining partners (medium rare). Nice steamed vegetables and Yukon mashed potatoes. Try the peppercorn sauce with your beef, it was really good. Do not miss the Brussels sprouts listed in the "starters" section. I could have eaten the whole plate if I let myself. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - full of flavor. I think they had a balsamic glaze. Overall dinner was the best traditional feast I have had in months. As to breakfast, it was what I would call "solid" in price and options. I had the oatmeal, which was fluffy (not runny) and excellent. My dining partner's ham scramble was tasty and substantial per his opinion. Came out on prime rib night. Yikes! Paso people love their prime rib, the place was packed. The service was awful, with our table sitting unhelped for dozens of minutes. Returns service was quite bad too. The prime rib was quite good though. I don't think I would come back right away but if I was craving some prime rib this might be a place to consider if you don't have other options. Though I'd rather try someone else's before coming back here. Too many senior citizens make for generally lowered wait staff service quality. The organic Grilled Salmon with capers dish was nothing short of perfection. It was grilled, juicy, with a hint of fishiness that you expect from a salmon. The topping of capers added the perfect amount of salty seasoning that made me anticipate my next bite(no joke). It was all piled on top of delicious rice pilaf. The soup for the day was clam chowder, and I love clam chowder, and this place has some amazing chowder!!! So if you get the opportunity to get the clam chowder.. I highly recommend it! read more

One of the worst meals of my life. I order sirloin and was served leather boot. My Father-in-law ordered filet and was served NY strip. 40 mins to get a diet coke and a glass of wine for two members of our party, and a solid hour for the food to arrive. The sourdough bread is beyond sour. I'm not a fan to begin with. but this was ridiculous. Everything overcooked, zero flavor, and although a pasta dish in a steak restaurant might not be the number one call, there's just no excuse for how bad it was for one of our party. One active waitress for the entire floor of about 30 guests, but plenty of people dressed as wait staff standing around doing pretty much nothing. This place needs a complete overhaul, new chef, new supplier, new staff and meals served that actually reflect what is shown on the menu. read more
