Last night my friend and I met over at one of our favorite places.....we have never been soooo disappointed with a dinner from Paso Inn. We ordered the prime rib and the ribeye (recommendation by the waitress) The prime rib was a bit on the tough side and little flavor, my ribeye was so tough I could barely cut it with the steak knife that I requested. I had asked for the yukon mash as a side and it obviously had been put on the plate and then under the warmers while they prepared the remaining meal because it had a thick dry skin over it. Our service was very good. We are definitely not a fan of the "new" menu and hope they rethink their decision to drop many favorites including the shortribs. We had sort of high expectations when we made our reservation, arrived early but still had to wait for sometime. The place was buzzy, which was a good sign. The menu is not big, but looks interesting and promising. The fresh baked rosemary bread rolls came with olive oil and balsamic vinegar which made the bread tasted almost bitter. Simple butter worked much better. Grilled artichoke which came 10 minutes later after we placed our order tasted very good. The salad was fine. However we had to wait for 30 minutes more to get our main courses. I liked the taste of my crispy pork, but it was overdone, the skin was on the hard side. Prime rip was ok, but nothing special. The good: I liked the concept of using local produce, and veg from the chef's organic garden. The artichoke was definitely delicious. The not-so-good: slow service. The response we got from the manager was: "We are very busy tonight, so it takes longer". Huh? read more

Went with the in-laws to the Inn for a dinner out. We were visiting from out of town and I always like to try a new place when in Paso. We did the the Inn this time as it had a good menu, great wines, and was still good for tween kids that have a limited pallet for items they like. Everyone found something to like, and the place was very pleasant inside. We sat by the nice big fireplace which is a nice touch to the main dining area. The place is packed with history. You can feel when you are there. From the old days, to the mid-century coffee shop that sits next to the steakhouse. You are sitting in living history. I had a Fillet, and it was very nice, with the wedge salad. For wine was a Halter Ranch Cabernet. The wine was a bit $$, but well worth it. We all really loved it and spent the next day over at their tasting room for another round. The Inn is a great place to go for a nice meal. The people were very kind, and the food was very good. After having never made it in here for years despite hearing how good it is I have actually made it in three times in the last year. The food has always been amazing. Twice I went in for the Prime Rib Special on Wednesday nights and once on a date night with my husband. My husband is the pickiest eater when we got out and he was even impressed. We had trouble getting a table at other restaurants in town. Busy Thanksgiving holiday week. Walked over to the Steakhouse at the Paso Robles Inn. The hostess warmly welcomed us and sat us immediately at a cozy booth. Our server was excellent. She was professional and polite. We had the artichoke appetizer. It was delicious. She brought drinks from the full bar, perfectly prepared. (Nice to have a cocktail at dinner instead of wine after tasting all day). My husband and I ordered steaks, potatoes and veggies. We've never actually had the opportunity to eat a meal here, even though we tried. We're the only couple in the restaurant when we sat down and ordered, but as we noticed more people being seated and receiving their food, I approached the manager. Our waitress had not returned to our table since dropping off water. The manager said she would check on our food after I asked her to pay for our coffee, she returned to say don't worry about it. She said our food was in the window and about to come out but she figured we were ready to leave. Again that's how I know it was a lie, because why wouldn't she offer it to us if it was ready. My husband and I are locals who used to eat at the Steakhouse at least once a week. It was our usual experience to bring a bottle of local wine, and sit outside at a fire table, and I would order the same AMAZING salad each time. I recently took my girlfriend there after a day of wine tasting and raving to her about this salad, to find the menu had completely changed. They no longer have the same salad, nor any of the other things me or my husband liked. Also we noticed the prices have gone up significantly. The waitress asked the chef if they would still make it, and at first said they could, then 45min later came back and said they could not! We sat there and drank our bottle of wine and left. Im sad to say we probably wont return to the steakhouse for a while. We are sad to loose our "regular night out spot". read more

Been coming to the PR Inn since 1974. Always used to have a great rib eye steak. Last one a few years ago about the best I've ever had. Last night though a 14 oz one that cost $39 was thin, very, very fatty - a very cheap cut, and almost well done for a medium. Won't be going back until they get better quality meat for the price. Six of us went to the steakhouse Saturday night after Thanksgiving. We had reservations and were seated at a table with an inconvenient pillar by my seat crowding me. We asked if we can sit at the next table over we were told no it was reserved, however the entire time we were there and nobody ever showed up. Two of us ordered the short rib stroganoff. It was okay but it cost $30 a plate and seriously had $0.50 worth of pasta and about $3 worth of meat. Avoid the stroganoff it's a big rip off. read more

My wife and I stopped by for a breakfast on Sunday but ended up having a brunch. The food selection was good but could have more variety. An old standby and they still have it!! We stayed on two occasions and will be back again. Great spa rooms with good amenities and comfy beds too. Large bathroom and super clean everywhere. The Robert Hall is our favorite!!! Dining room is okay and not the best in customer service skills are noted. They totally forgot my son's girlfriends dinner but did not offer to either comp her for it or take some off. Every time I come here to visit my friend this is our go to restaurant for breakfast. Mimosas are delicious, and they have tasty food. I have yet to be disappointed with what I've ordered. Service is pretty fast for as busy as they get and staff is friendly. Only downer is there breakfast stops at 11 :( read more

Had dinner while in Paso and the food was fabulous. Everything from the steak to the side dishes. Service, on the other hand, not so much. Very slow and at one point everyone at our table had empty water and beverage glasses. No one should get parched at a fine dining establishment. read more

Very disappointing last night. They were out of the house Merlot. Waiter gave no other Merlot options. They were out of Sirloin steak (at a steak house) at only 6:30 PM. Very disappointing place to eat. Service is ok. I came last week with my friend belle, the food was good but that night the service was a little slow. Belle was not to pleased. She also ordered a martini with a splash of vermouth. Omg that was the worst martini ever! I had a sip and spit it out. Way to much vermouth. When we mentioned it to the waitress she simply said ok and walked away! Wow! We did not even order the drink this way! Belle was pist so we paid our bill and left. ( they even charged us for the mistaken drink. Unbelievable! Then tonight I was thinking to give this place a second chance after all I'm a guest at the hotel this evening. Sat down and had my heart set on the prime rib. Mmmmm! I then the waitress explained that they did not make any prime rib this evening because they had low reservations. Then why the hell do you have it on your menu! So I sit back, redirect my surprise and then I ordered a stoli on the rocks with 3 olives. About 5 minutes later the waitress comes back and tells me they are out of stoli's! Really! Not even offering a compensation for lacking on 2 main items on their menu. Mediocre food. I had the prime rib sandwich, which was a disappointment. They were quite skimpy on the meat. With what was served, it was full of fat. The Au jus was bland. Sweet potato fries couldn't save the meal. Cobb salad was decent. Overall, it was what was open on 4th of July to help with hunger pains to get us back to the bay. I went to dinner here last night for my dear friend's birthday and we had a fabulous time. I ordered the salmon and it was delicious. The waitress was even kind enough to put a beautiful chive flower on my dish even though it did not originally come with it. What a fun and loving touch. The salmon was cooked just how I like it, still soft in the middle. My husband had a tri-tip sandwich which was pretty basic. The fries were great, not the bland steak cut kind most establishments serve. These were thin and crispy. Our waitress was Dian and she really was fabulous at her job. She was absolutely friendly and patient. We look forward to returning because everyone who ordered steak was raving. It looked and smelled so good. Their steaks came with all of the fixings. While staying with our friend who owns Poalillo vineyard we were lucky enough to lunch at the Paso Robles Inn. Our server was Marisa. She was delightful, knew the menu well,and gave us some helpful suggestions. She couldn't have been nicer,and even walked us out after our delicious meal. You are lucky to have her! About 6 / 7 months ago i wrote a review that was very negative for this restaurant. I vowed never to go back. A very good friend of mine asked me to try it one more time, because he really likes the food there. I never complained about the food, it was the management i had a problem with. I gave in and went there one more time for Sunday Brunch. I am very happy to say that the management has changed, and that all was so much better this time. Hallie, the new manger actually heard about the a fore mentioned problem, and couldn't get out of her own way fast enough to help make me fell soooo much better about being there. The food was fair priced, and great tasting as usual. Our server, Kaila (we called her little miss smiles), was more than super. Thank you for the for much better changes. Very good restaurant with excellent service. Arrived 10 minutes before closing on a Wednesday night and were accommodated even though it was late. I rarely eat at the hotel or motel where I am staying, but this place is an exception. On my return next month, I will stay at the Inn and eat here. read more

My family and I have enjoyed several special occasions at the Steakhouse, including my 50th Bday earlier this year in June...with the BEST customer service and a terrific Front of House Manager)...was looking forward to the same. Thanksgiving not so...COMPLETE FAIL on the Manager for Thanksgiving, the treatment my family received was embarrassing to me. This manager is in dire need of Customer Service training. Possibly the task of a high traffic Holiday was beyond her ability to keep it flowing, while also providing a pleasant experience for guests. The story goes: I made our reservation for Thanksgiving Dinner here nearly TWO MONTHS in advance, excited for another great special occasion with my family of four, coming up from Camarillo. I called three days prior to reconfirm and request a booth, as my parents are quite elderly. So far, so good. We arrived 15 minutes early for our 4pm dinner reservation and let the Hostess know we wouldn't mind waiting, we can have a drink in the lounge. She says no, not necessary, we have your table...and proceeds to lead us to our "nice booth"...I'm excited! She then leads us past 6 empty booths to the worst booth in the house, tucked into the far corner, literally at the kitchen door. (My Parents don't like sitting by the door.) Politely, we ask if we may be seated away from the kitchen door, not thinking it's a problem since there are literally at least SIX open booths. Enter the Manager: "I can not and WILL NOT change my floor plan". Again, politely, we point out that there are at least 6 other empty booths, in fact the people who arrived 60 seconds after us were seated in a central location - why not us? Again, we offered to wait, or whatever necessary - to not be seated by the kitchen door. (Still 6 empty booths... 4pm, not busy at all) She then told us to take a seat in her "nice booth" or leave, as she would not deviate from her "floor plan" PERIOD! Her reasoning for refusing to change our booth was an insult to our intelligence, it really made no sense. Many open tables, could have easily switched us to a different table with a mark of her pencil on her "floor plan" sheet. It was as if the seat assignment was literally written in stone. We reserved two months out, arrived 15 mins early, got the worst seat in the house...SIX EMPTY BOOTHS, we politely requested a different table (of the SIX empty booths) and she literally argued with my family in front of other patrons, for an extended period, while people were standing behind her, waiting to be seated. It was quite embarrassing, for us AND the other patrons, that she would staunchly argue in the middle of the floor, instead of diffusing - she escalated the scene. Her obstinance and lack of customer service/flexibility left us with a very poor impression, and truly a pit in our stomachs for being so harshly spoken to. We are happy we didn't get up and leave, because the rest of the night was wonderful...OVERALL, we loved the dinner, the food was fabulous! I gave two stars because the food was good, but the service was terrible. We came for breakfast and had to wait 20 - 25 minutes before a Server even acknowledged us. The busboy brought us drinks after 15 minutes. When a Server did come to the table it was to ask if we were using vouchers and when we said no, she gave us menus and then she left us again for 15 minutes. We would have left, but there weren't many choices for breakfast in the area. There were 3 Servers working and a Busboy on this morning. we went to celebrate our birthdays and waited over an hour for one artichoke and the waitress finally came over and said that it had been given to someone upstairs...finally it came and to her credit she gave us each soup and more bread while waiting but they charged to split our steak and mostly the 10 oz steak was poorly cooked and on bread with little meat and lots of bread, the waitress was attentive and yet the food prep was disappointing. stayed in the hotel and had to ask for coffee and the robes for the room each night.
