This brightly lit dining room welcomes you as you walk in from the free parking. This sandwich shop is located in a small mini mall and is next to a 7-11. I was immediately welcomed by all three employees. The cashier was knowledgeable and helped me pick out my cheesesteak. The large is enough for two meals. I didn't order the shakes but they looked good. Food was made to order. Bread was fresh but no hoagie sauce to spice up my sandwich. Bread was soft and steak was tender but I needed more seasoning and cheese.

We passed this restaurant and decided to try it for lunch on Sunday. We ordered on the counter & waited about 10 mins before picking up at the farther end of the counter. We ordered regular portion and the portion was very generous with lots of meat & melty cheese in the middle. The bread was perfect: crunchy on the outside yet soft inside. - The steakout (chicken): the chicken was perfectly cooked. The meat was tender & well seasoned. - The fugitive (steak): the steak was thinly sliced and tender. However, it would be great if they put more seasoning since it was a bit bland. The cheese was melted perfectly and the sandwich was really good. - Mini cheesesteak with fries (kids): my kiddo got half sandwich but it was huge! The cheesecake didn't have mushroom nor onion so it was perfect for my picky kiddo. The cheese was perfectly melted and delicious. It also came with a juice box & side of french fries. The french fries were crunchy and good. - Onion rings: okay. The coating was crispy and good but the onion inside was a bit wet.

I have been seeing many reviews for the restaurant on FB so decided to give it a try. There was a couple leaving as we were getting out of the car and I asked if this was their first visit. The gentleman replied 'No, we live in Colfax and come down at least once a week'! That told me we would not be disappointed. We ordered The Fugitive and it was delicious. The meat was extremely tender and tasty, there was no skimping on the onions, mushroom, and cheese and the bread was delicious, (baked fresh every 5 minutes). There was a steady stream of customers as well as Door Dash pick ups. The owner gave us a sample of the fries while we waited for our order and they were also yummy. Will certainly return to try other menu items.

We are so happy we came here for a late lunch today! We were out with our friend today, helping her buy lumber, and we decided to get a bite to eat, since none of us ate anything today, and I looked for a great place to get a good sandwich, and found this establishment! My fellow Yelpers, as I always say, rarely let me down, if at all, and we are SO HAPPY we stopped at this STELLAR shop for amazing food! We were graciously greeted when we entered this extremely clean, inviting, and comfortable eatery, and it immediately gave me a great impression...especially how delicious it smelled inside! The owner (I'm assuming---he was so nice and gracious) told us his "story" of his business model and how they use fresh, ribeye steak and chicken ) in their freshly made and delicious steak sandwiches, and how they make and bake their sandwich breads fresh every day and how they cut and prepare their vegetables they use on their cheesesteaks fresh every day to ensure a superior overall product, which I can attest makes a BIG difference! We all ordered our sandwiches, and split 2 fries between the three of us. The cheesesteaks were piping hot, the meat was very generous and seasoned to perfection, the cheese and the peppers, onions, and bell peppers were PERFECTLY cooked and the roll of the sandwich was so amazingly fresh, pillowy and delish! The fries were some of the best I've ever had and are hard sometimes to find nowadays--the type that have a thin, seasoned batter on them that gives them the perfect " bite " and keeps them crispy and hot--without being the least but greasy! Omg, those fries are equally as EPIC as that delicious, melt in your mouth cheesesteak! It was so filling, I could only eat half of my sandwich! We are definitely going to return here for the most delicious, tender, satisfying steak sandwiches I've ever had and served by the most gracious, friendly, host you could ever find! I love to mainly support these smaller businesses than the big chains out there, as they care way more about quality vs quantity, and this place does EXACTLY THAT! Thank you for restoring my faith in finding a really good steak sandwich out there!

WOWZERS! How have I not discovered this before today?!?! This is definitely one of the best I've had!! I just got done eating and can already tell I will be literally craving this sandwich! Such a good mix of flavors and spice. We shared a large that was HUGE and made it a meal w fries and drink. Perfect amount! If u havnt tried this, go now! Runnn!! Stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon and other than a couple of lovebirds, had the place to myself. Menu is typical for a cheesesteak spot but has a few quirks. I ordered the OG chicken sandwich with provolone (I do not like whiz and they made the substitution no problem). Restaurant was clean and staff were busy keeping it that way as I waited for my food. Sandwich came out and it was hot and flavorful. Portion was adequate and the bread, meat, veggie ratio was on point. Will def come back and try something else. Pro Tip: get the hot peppers

HO- LEE- COW. Best cheesesteak I've had. All ingredients made fresh daily. Fresh baked bread in house, freshly sliced ribeye and house made desserts. I live in OC now, so when I'm back in Sacramento, food usually doesn't hit the same way. This time was different. I came across a BOGO deal for The Steakout on Facebook and figured a cheesesteak sounded exactly like the right move for lunch. I checked Yelp, saw solid reviews, and decided it was worth the just-over-30-minute drive. It absolutely was. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the owner with a big smile. The place is clean, welcoming, and you can see everything being cooked fresh right in front of you. The smell alone lets you know you made a good decision. The bread is baked in small batches multiple times an hour, so you're not getting something that's been sitting around--your sandwich starts off winning before it even hits the grill. I ordered the Bacon Bust, the Steakout, fries, and a drink. Let's talk fries first. These aren't thin fast-food fries and they're not heavy steak fries either--somewhere perfectly in between. They have a real crunch, not just crispness, and because they're thicker you still get that soft, potato-y inside. Seasoned just right, no ketchup needed (and that's saying something). The sandwiches were the real standout. On the first bite, you can taste the freshness of every ingredient. Yes, you literally watch them cook it in front of you--but biting into it confirms that nothing here is cutting corners. The meat is juicy, the bread is fresh, everything is balanced, and it just works. It's the kind of sandwich where you stop talking for a minute because you're busy appreciating what's happening. Bottom line: this was 100% worth the drive. Friendly owner, fresh food, great execution, and a cheesesteak that actually delivers. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Had to try this spot after my friend gave rave reviews about it. I got the Fugitive and added jalapenos...wow this is the best cheesesteak I have ever had. Now I have never been to Philly but I have had my fair share of cheesesteaks and this one is #1. I mean all props to this place but you just do not expect it from a spot next to 7-Eleven. But once you are inside and biting into this amazing delicious sandwich you forget where you are at. Go check them out. You can even grab a dutch bros on your way out since it is in the same parking lot! read more

Finally, stopped in and got a sandwich. Really good. Got the steakout, lots of meat, great bread, perfect amount of condiments. Also, got the fried pickles, super good, i just wish it had more pickles, i feel the serving is to small. I will definitely go back for the sandwich. The food is delicious: The steak was moist, well seasoned, and the texture was that slightly crispy but juicy, thinly sliced chunks that make for the perfect cheesesteak sandwich. The breading on the fried pickles and onion rings were perfect! Crisp and flavorful, not too greasy. The garlic fries were cooked perfectly with the right amount of seasoning and garlic aioli. Great flavors! Everyone was very nice and the service was good. The inside was clean and modern with a well-lit menu board that's easy to read. Plenty of room to stand there and look it over if you haven't been there before. The 4/5 rating is because the large drinks should either be much bigger or much cheaper. The portions could also be a little larger, but it's ok. We also went at lunch time so it was a 30 minute wait because they were very busy. Overall, happy with the experience. It's worth the trip if you're craving a delicious cheesesteak. read more

I am a 1st time customer. I met the owner, who explained to me how they operate. I was very happy to learn that they are a "Mom & Pop" business. I was also happy to learn that they buy their veggies on a daily basis. The sandwich I ordered was the "Steakout" with Steak. It was very good. I'll adjust how much salt seasoning they use next time, but otherwise it was very tasty. My intent was to compare it to the Jersey Mike's sandwich, but they are a bit too different. Next time I will order the Fugitive with Steak as it is more closely "built" to JM's Philly-cheese. Either way, I encourage "you" to stop in and try their food. I'll surely be back. read more

Wow! Just tried this amazing new place in Fair Oaks, super impressed with everything. The place was super clean, staff was friendly, and food was fantastic. We just ordered from here for the first time. I ordered the 8" Original Philly with provolone instead of the orange cheese that usually comes on it. My husband isn't really a Philly cheesesteak guy but he ordered the small (8") that comes with mushrooms. We ordered a side of fries all to go. It's was packages nicely. The food was delicious and the fries exceptional as well. They were done well and crispy! We're glad we split them as it was a good portion for us. We're older and just can't eat as much as we used to. I ate half my sandwich and not quite have the fries and I'm stuffed! The place was so clean, the menu simple and we will come back! Who goes to cheesesteak restaurant looking for a vegetarian meal... me I guess. Honestly delicious though. I got "the missing suspect" (also LOVE the branding) and it was exactly what I wanted and more. Cheesy, full of veggies, and homemade sauce. Everyone was extremely friendly and they went out of their way to clean the stove top first and make it exactly how I wanted. I got the feeling they don't make this sandwich often... because again, who goes to Philly cheesesteak place for a veggie sandwich but it truly was delicious. Definitely will be returning! read more

This place is amazing ! Went with the Loaded Fries today instead of the sandwich. Loaded with meat and sauce. Only wanted a light snack to hold me over till dinner. The the name should have given me an idea but it was not only loaded with flavor it was also massive. For under $10 this massive loaded fry is an amazing deal. I drove past this place and was curious to try them, then I saw an online special and it was meant to be. I order 2 cheese steaks with mushroom, bell pepper, and mushroom. One order of fries and a drink. My one mistake was running errands and starving and someone hit my car I was a bit flustered upon arrival and I messed up my order. I only order chicken, but somehow missed that. That being said I am not a steak eater, judge if you want, but even do it was my order error so I ate it. Even the steak was amazing, so looking forward to getting them again, but chicken. Another thing I would change is removal of the lettuce didn't seem to mesh well as it wilted quickly and not traditional to the cheesesteaks I'm used to, but otherwise great flavor and fat boys! Fries were the best I've had in ages, nice crisp, hot, and flavorful. Sandwiches had plenty of meat, mushroom and peppers. Only thing I wish it had more of was the cheese it was definitely lost and not the star of the show. I'm used to having a "cheese" steak where you can both taste and see a cheese pull. I did remember to ask for no mayo, but only got one without mayo. Luckily the second sandwich was for later so once it absorbed into both sides of the bread and I added cheese and reheated it you couldn't taste it. The establishment was clean, staff was pleasant, and I'll definitely be back. What a hidden gem when I'm out and about in Fair Oaks. read more

I noticed the good reviews for The Steakout, and, we decided to pick up a couple of sandwiches for dinner. I had steak, my DH had chicken, and we split an order of fries. Really, really good... made to order, and excellent quality. Homemade rolls, shaved rib eye steak, and lots of filling choices. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, well staffed, and convenient. Went to the steak out for lunch today and was not disappointed. The food was freshly prepared the bread was soft and held up with the generous amount of steak and mushrooms peppers and onions and provolone cheese. I opted for no tomato or lettuce and I stick with that choice. We had onion that were crispy on the outside and nice onion slices inside cooked perfectly. They also have little cups of pepperoncini and a sweet spicy pepper. It was very comfortable inside clean lots of seating. The young lady who took our order was very nice and cheerful. They all moved with a sense of urgency but the food is freshly cooked so it takes a minute. Well worth it tho!! We will be back next time for fries they have season salt too. Oh the loaded fries look amazing also as well as the milkshakes. So much to try. read more

I saw this restaurant pop up on my social media feed yesterday so my wife and I went for dinner on a whim. Ended up being a great choice! The restaurant has a good size dining area and is very clean and vibrant. The owners greeted us immediately with a friendly smile, and when the food was ready it was brought to our table (when typically your number is called to pick up at the counter). I got a large size and my wife a regular, along with some onion rings and Mac & Cheese bites. The bread for the sandos was incredibly fresh, and the steak very tender. The Mac & Cheese bites were made with smoked Gouda for a unique twist. We will definitely be back, and will bring more people. I'm actively spreading the word about this place. read more

This was our first time eating here and we will definitely be back. We ordered the Steakout which was delicious. There are plenty of other sandwiches to choose from which include chicken. The Pita was flaky/crispy and the plentiful Beef/Lamb meat was salty, thin and grilled to the crispiness of bacon. The Chicken Schwarma was dry and didn't have much chicken to it. If you are looking for a Gyro - this is no longer the place to go.

The server / hostess guestured and said "Sit anywhere". But almost all the tables were quite high and require mobility. They were those raised chairs and tables you almost have to climb up to sit. And at the end of the counter there was a lowered portion with two seats that were accessible. However, they were using this counter space for storage with bunches/little buckets of utensils, ketchups, a dirty dish rag, napkins, other various items. To the credit of the man working at the counter part, he did offer to clear it up for me. I did refuse because if you only have two accessible seats inside, using that space as storage sends a message that my business isn't wanted. Same with stores that use the only accessible changing room as storage for all the put backs. It's the principle of the thing. My husband and I ended up leaving and eating somewhere else. I have just moved to the area a couple of months ago and had a good time at one of the coffee shops the week before nearby and like the little downtown Fair Oaks vibe for walking around, local businesses, etc. I hope in the future they can be ready for disabled folks like myself in a similar way that they are for all patrons.
