Chipotle cheesesteak and rosemary parm fries
    Georgina G.

Really impressed with the food and service! My hubby and I stopped in for a quick bite before an art show next door so just wanted something small to share. We got the Chipotle Cheesesteak and chose rosemary parmesan fries for our side. And we each got the Stubborn mule. Food and drinks came out super quick. Drinks within 5 minutes and food about another 5 minutes. The cheesesteak was cut in half for us and our server also brought an extra plate. The meat was very flavorful and tender. It was also nice and cheesy and had caramelized onions. The bread was fresh, slightly toasted on top, soft inside but strong enough to hold all the meat and cheesy goodness. The fries were very rosemary forward but that was fine since that was the description of the fries. Would 100% order that again but all for me next time haha.

A local neighborhood joint but classy too. You can walk in dressed up or totally casual and fit right in either way. The staff was super friendly and on top of it. There was a prix fixe menu when we went so obviously I ordered from that. For apps we had the Korean bbq chicken skewers and the caprese. Entree was airline chicken and steak. Dessert was dark chocolate cake and strawberry trifle. The caprese could use salt but the Korean bbq chicken so crunchy. I loved it. The potatoes that came with both the steak and the chicken were so amazing. I could eat just those and be happy. The steak and chicken were good. Not exceptional but solid. The trifle was more of a strawberry shortcake but the cake was good and the chocolate cake was so rich and wonderful. I will make this a go to for when I am seeing a show at the doctor Phillips center.

Our server was so sweet! The Bite 30 menu is back so this is a perfect time to come out and try a few dishes. The chicken and steak entrees were delicious. This place does not mess around about their cheesy potatoes!! I loved the caprese app, it was super fresh and their pesto was the perfect addition. The dessert menu was lacking but everything else was a 9/10. Also great location for outdoor seating or a cute date night atmosphere inside.

The Stubborn mule, was looking for a spot to have lunch with the wife, came upon this establishment, happens to be the sister restaurant to the Rusteak across the street! Walking into a rather smaller establishment greeted by the host immediately, was surprising cause the outside looks so big! Hostess was very kind and greeted us warmly led us into the dining room and sat us by a nearby window, greeted immediately by the Server very nice young man dropping menus, asking us if it was our first time and topping us off with some water gathering a drink water, wife went with the purple haze, specialty cocktail, and I an Arnold Palmer, he briefly went over the specials, small details on the menu and was off, drinks, arriving within three minutes, following up with if we'd like to place an appetizer order, first course Korean barbecue ribs, main courses, wife went with the preset $38 menu, first up smaller Barata salad, second skirt, Hager steak with a herb mashed potato and grilled asparagus and dessert a Heath bar bread pudding, I went with a chipotle cheesesteak sub with Parmesan rosemary french fries, and to try we decided to go with some sweet potato tater tots, and he was off, Korean barbecue ribs arriving within six minutes, looking great tasting even better and I must say the portion size was fantastic as well, This could've been an entrée! Was a little bit of a lag between the appetizer and the main courses which arrived in about 20 minutes, but we were in no rush, plates cleared and clean table topped with water and in no time at all the entrées arrived looking awesome. My sandwich was absolutely fantastic just too much, my wifes skirt hanger steak while well presented and very flavorful the steak was unfortunately tough. Bummer, after two minutes the Server a circle back and check on the quality of the food, which were happy with, finishing up boxed up our leftovers and the Heath bar bread pudding arrived, this dessert was over the top! I'd come here just for that! And all this was a fantastic experience, cozy room, great atmosphere friendly staff clean bathrooms, a must stop. If you're in the area check it out I've spoken....

I had a very nice experience here. There are tons of seats outside along the sidewalk. The bar area is a little small, but NCAA basketball games were on. It was Happy Hour when I came so I loaded up on some apps and drinks. Happy Hour is 3-6pm Every Day and Friday-Saturday 10pm-11pm 25% off all appetizers, signature mules, signature cocktails, wines by the glass. $7 Mules all day Monday. Up first, the $9.75 sticky pork belly. I liked this dish. Not a huge fan of pork, but the flavor was on point. Then, I tried a $9.75 soft pretzel. Mmmmmm so delicious. I love when pretzel bread is actually good, like this one. For the main course, I had the $18 Stubborn Mule Burger. This thing is super tall, and will barely fit in your mouth. Super juicy and really good. The brussels weren't nearly charred or hard enough for me. Wouldn't get those again. For the drink, I tried a $9.75 Smoked & Mezzy. Super strong ginger beer taste. Other than that, it was fine. Cool place to relax, get a burger, and a cocktail.

The Stubborn Mule was a great place to get a nice "after show" dinner while downtown. The menu rocked with lots of interesting options - all that we tried were flavorful, cooked well and we would order them again. The flatbread pizza was a standout for sure - but the chicken sandwich was also amazing. We did feel a little forgotten about on the patio - I think our server might have had too many tables, but they made up for it with warm service and refills.

Second time trying this place but first time dining in for the food. Cute corner spot with outdoor sitting and indoor bar. Staff was nice and welcoming with general conversation. Food was pretty good so no complaints from our end. Close walking distance for those interested in lake eola or the park for kids.

My friend and I wanted to try out a new local happy hour, and now I want to make the Stubborn Mule my new haunt!! The happy hour specials are SUCH a good deal - make sure to try some of their specialty cocktails (mules, of course,) but they also made what might just be my new favorite local espresso martini. We split their pretzel stick shareable and the Giddy Up Burger, and WOW, they were amazing! Our waitress was absolutely perfect - checked on us regularly, yapped with us, and shared the best menu recommendations. She put me onto their "The Cocktail Formerly Known as Purple Rain," and, as a gin lover, it fit the bill perfectly. The bar is cozy and more spacious than it looks, with an almost log-cabin feel. We sat at a high top near the bar and the volume never got uncomfortably loud. My one note is to figure out where you're going to park before you head out for a bite, as downtown parking can get competitive unless you're prepared to park in a city garage and walk aways. I highly recommend the Stubborn Mule and can't wait to go back!

I've dined here a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed myself every single visit. The spot has a dope, stylish vibe. Inside, you've got rich wood floors, a matching wood ceiling, and warm lighting that gives it a grounded, lodge meets grown bar feel. As nice as the interior is, I decided to sit outside since the sunset was too good to pass up. Every time I've come, the staff has been attentive, friendly, and on point with recommendations. It was happy hour when I pulled up, so of course I went a little crazy on the half off appetizers. I'm a sucker for a good happy hour lol. They always bring their A game with the food, so it was no surprise everything was hitting per usual!! Safe to say I'll definitely be back anytime I'm near Lake Eola.

Nice evening out. We decided to dine here due to its close proximity to Lake Eola. Our visit occurred on Dec 19th 2024. We were celebrating our dogs birthday and elected to sit outside as he was in a stroller. The waitress was very kind and made great recommendations. She was able to help us select an item for our doggie as it was his birthday and she was so kind to him. We started off with the bruschetta appetizer and the pear and fig mule. The mule was tasty and refreshing. The bruschetta was okay, but our main course more than made up for it. We opted for the chicken linguine and it was so friggin good!!! We also noticed several of the other patrons raving about their burgers. The chicken they brought out for my dog was really good, I snuck in a bite when my dog wasn't looking. It was really juicy and cooked well. I will 100% be returning for one of those burgers and that pasta

Every plate we ordered was SO GOOD. My family's favorite were the Korean bbq short ribs. I couldn't stop eating it even though I was so full! The get shorty meal was also really good. I got the razzle dazzle mule which is one of their signature drinks and it did not disappoint. We liked looking around and the different artwork they have in the place. It's casual dining and have both inside and outside seating available. Would go back especially for those Korean bbq short ribs!

I went here for lunch with my coworkers and we had a great experience overall. We started off with the elote hummus, it was a pretty interesting combination but it was good. For our meals we had a couple of flatbreads, a salad and a salmon dish. We all liked what we picked, the portions were fulfilling. We didn't order any drinks so I can share my experience with that. The space was really nice, we sat indoors but they have outdoor space too. Service was wonderful, our server was attentive and checked on us regularly.

The Stubborn Mule Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Stubborn Mule

    Is it kid-friendly?

    Yes :)

Does this business have happy hour on Saturday?

    Yes 3pm-6pm

Does this place have any space for dancing? The venue says events?

No place for dancing. It has high top and low dining tables. Maybe events for birthday dinners or after work meetings.

Do they play music? If so, what kind?

Not whenever I have been there .

Is this place good for groups of 25 or more? Does this place have a private room for big groups?

They don't have a private room. There's a large outside patio and the indoor area can certainly fit more than 25 people but I would recommend calling and making sure they can accommodate your party. Here's their phone number 407-730-3400

Is the bottomless mimosa / brunch available on Fridays?

Update, they ended bottomless in general due to mess. As of summer 2021

Is there a brunch on Saturday and what is the cost?

If you gotta ask, you can't afford it....

    Does this restaurant take reservations?

Yes...we take reservations for upcoming days, we don’t take reservations the day of for brunch :)

Do you have to make reservations for Brunch?

I highly recommend making a reservation, although it's not required. Bar seating is first come first serve which is an easy route if it's just you and another person and you get there when they open.

Is the chick pea salad sandwich vegan? I noticed they used veganaise.

great question. I do not assume it is completely vegan but they do state it is.

Do they serve brunch on Saturdays too?

    Yes!!

Would you say this place is kid friendly for brunch?

This spot is still a downtown bar. Since I never see children at downtown bars, I'd so no.

The ambiance and feel of the bar is very "sultry" and "intimate." The mood lighting, dark paneling/interiors paired with the bar itself being lit to be the center of attention, lends itself to the secretiveness and LURE that a modernized speakeasy would provide. I truly enjoy stepping foot into this little hidden, but NOT so hidden, gem (which can be accessed from the interior to Talay). Service can be slow at times - especially when they are busy. However, the staff is usually always gracious, helpful, and willing to serve. The few great mixologists I've met there have also been very willing to break down how they make their drinks and really give us a glimpse into their world. So, I'm appreciative of that. That is not something that you can always expect at bars. As for the drinks (and food I'll glaze over), I am usually not left disappointed. I appreciate that seasonally they play with their drink menu and introduce new cocktails. I also love a handful of their signature drinks on the menu. This may be the only bar I've had a drink with Aperol in it that I actually ENJOYED (and not tolerated). The pricing can get high depending on what you order, but for the area and the going rate of a night out, they hold their own. Definitely don't pop into Noir if you are looking for an AFFORDABLE cocktail experience because the tab will creep up on you. The food is OKAY. They share a kitchen with Talay and offer some items not on the Talay menu - which is nice. However, I rarely eat when I visit, so the few times I have, it's been okay. Nothing to truly brag home about. I am happy, though, that they did start offering food because in the very beginning (when they first opened), that was not an option. Anyways, Noir Bar is GREAT (to me)! I will keep coming here and recommending it to others. It's also great for a date night or night out with your friends. It's in a decent location - but please take heed of parking in this area, as it can be challenging to find FREE street parking. However, there is parking available all around and in various garages nearby.

Real good vibes. Orlando obviously has no shortage of places to eat, drink, and gather, but Alfie's belongs to that rare category of venues that feel equally at home in a major metropolis. It's the kind of spot that would fit seamlessly into Los Angeles's best neighborhoods: think Gold Line in Highland Park or the Vinyl Room at the Hollywood Palladium. Not because they're carbon copies, but because they share that intangible quality of genuine discovery and cultural curiosity. The crowd ( age range 25 - 35 mostly ) was genuinely engaged with one another. People were actually talking, actually present, not hunched over their phones. That alone felt invigorating. There was an undeniable spark in the room. Alfie's wasn't chasing trends; it was simply allowing them to emerge naturally. What impressed me most was how they brought it all together .. Retro stereo equipment and vinyl players from the 50s mixed with a bar area that's super sleek and modern. Conversations, music, the lounge itself .... all came together in a way that felt alive and IN THE MOMENT. When my LA friends visit, Alfie's is on the list. We'd been here before with friends for drinks and dessert, but this was our first time actually sitting down for dinner. We looked over the happy hour menu (good all day on Monday nights and Tuesday through Friday 5-7pm). We ask Mel about the "Bartender's Choice" selection under happy hour drinks. She said the bartender will mix a drink of their preference. The customer cannot choose the alcohol or any mixers as the bartender makes the decisions all by him or herself. Mel asked if we had any allergies or any other issues that might affect the drinks the bartender would like to make. We said we did not and we decided to take on this "choice" experience. Serena was the bartender of the evening and she did an amazing job. She mixed up various concoctions for us throughout the night (we ordered a second round after the first one) and we enjoyed every drink she prepared. The presentation of the drinks were also well done. Serena's cocktails consisted of bourbon, rum, and various ingredients which could include bitters, lemon, agave or other cocktail mixers. She was the bartender extraordinaire of the evening. For food, we ordered the half dozen chicken wings (2 orders since they were so good) and the pizza empanadas to start. The two empanadas had mozzarella cheese stuffed inside and were served with a warm marinara. From the main menu, we ordered the Faroe Island Salmon, which was served on a bad of risotto and tomato butter, with capers. The portion of the salmon was somewhat small for the price of $28, but it and the risotto were cooked perfectly. We ended the night with their signature drink, "Death in the Afternoon" which contains absinthe and is one of my favorite drinks here in Orlando. It was another five star experience and my friend found a new restaurant she now loves. All in all, a great night thanks to the attentiveness and easy-going attitude of Mel, our server, and the exceptional cocktails from the bartender, Serena. Thank you both for a job very well done!

I was immediately thinking that this place would not be out of place on Mills ave or downtown. I saw the coffee prices posted and they seemed about average or even maybe a bit of a bargain compared to some of the coffee chain prices. I was given a menu that highlighted some of their rotating seasonal drinks. I was surprised to see drink prices at $15 & $16. I know downtown that would not be unusual, but I assumed since this was pretty far out east it might be a few dollars cheaper. Still, I understand you get what you pay for an they bar seemed to have many top shelf brands and a good selection to boot. There were a few tables with people, and I noticed a few more seemed to be working on their laptops so great idea if you would rather work with a beer or glass of wine instead of a coffee.

We ordered the buffalo chicken egg rolls and the deviled eggs (with no bacon) as appetizers. For our new drinks we got margaritas, I got a regular margarita and my partner got a passion fruit margarita. For entrees, I had the famous fried chicken and my hubby had the meatloaf. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, relaxed, they keep the shades lowered during the day to reduce that sun intake and it's lovely. It feels nice and relaxed in here no matter the weather outside. Again, we enjoyed the experience but the service was fairly slow. We had to pretty much know what we wanted by the next time we saw our server or flag her down to get her attention. She was waiting about 4 tables on our area. We were party of two.

The drinks were great and the food was soo good that we still talk about it days later. He loved the bone marrow. Steak was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. The cake was not my favorite at all. It took way too long to come out and it came out very cold. Not much chocolate flavor, too much salt. It was missing something. We will skip dessert next time.

The Neighbors is a cozy little hideaway that's perfect for grabbing a drink after exploring the market. We had already eaten downstairs, so we just stopped in for a couple of cocktails, and it was the perfect way to wind down. The service was warm, friendly, and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Just a heads-up: seating is pretty limited, so I'd recommend arriving a little earlier if you're visiting during peak hours. Whether you're looking for a pre-dinner drink or a nightcap after browsing East End Market, this spot is definitely worth checking out.
