Celia and Brooke were amazing when we visited the store to order a gender reveal cake. They took their time to make sure we got what we needed. We got the pink champagne cake with strawberry filling. It was great and everyone enjoyed it. We needed it the following day and we got it. So satisfied with the service. We also visited trophy cupcakes as it was closer from where we lived. When we went to the store to order a cake they said we have to call the online number to make an order and we informed no one was answering they said the person who was suppose to take the order was not in and we had to call them tomorrow to place an order, which is ridiculous. I always love coming to the sweet side, the ladies are always so nice. I actually had my sons birthday cake done here with a super mario/bowser theme, I was really blown away at the detail they put into the cake. My friends and family were all asking me where I got the cake done at; surprised at the detail of the cake as well! Communication is easy, since I live about 40 minutes away I just filled out a cake application online and was able to work the cake out with brook! Awesome customer service!! They recently started some new treats, bubble waffles and woopie pies! We went for a bubble waffle cone with soft served, raspberry sauce, cheesecake chunks, salted cookie crumbles and a macaroon! After the tasting, though, I was very excited. I wanted a simple cake with flower accents that matched flowers on my dress. We discussed the design and I sent the Sweetside team a picture of my dress. Floored. Pick my jaw up off the floor. They nailed it The cake was AMAZING. In every sense of the word. The cake was beautiful, exactly what I wanted, and matched my dress perfectly. The cake, filling, and buttercream frosting were fantastic -- we received multiple compliments from our wedding guests. I ordered a cake for my wedding anniversary a few weeks in advance and then called them about a week and a half before the cake was supposed to be ready to move the pick up date up a day early (from a Friday to Thursday). When I showed up on the Thursday the cake wasn't ready, as the person I had last spoken with (who assured me it wouldn't be a problem to change the pick-up day with over a weeks notice) dropped the ball. In any case they were very apologetic and even went so far as to drop the cake off at the restaurant I was going to with my wife for dinner later that evening. My wife was totally surprised and loved the cake BTW. I appreciate the fact that they were willing to make something right that they had messed up, I would only recommend that you double check with them a day or two in advance to make sure they have your order ready when you show up. read more

My sister in law ordered a cake for her fiance's birthday, and while the design was adorable, this cake was truly.... awful. Absolutely, totally disgusting - almost inedible. I watched as we all sat around the table trying politely to take bites of the dry, dense, and utterly tasteless cake. The icing was so greasy - it was like trying to eat a colored blob of crisco straight from the can. If you're looking for a show piece, and not a dessert you'll actually consume, I guess this is your bakery. What a shame that we could only enjoy its external beauty and not the actual cake inside. I randomly strolled upon this cute bakery and didn't know what to expect from them since I never heard of them. They offer cakes, macaroons, brownies and cookies. There's quite a variety of selections to choose from. My bf bought me a slice of carrot cake ($5.50) and it was big and heavy! Sadly the carrot cake was WAY too sweet. The cake itself was good, very moist from the carrot. It was pretty sweet and dense already but the cream cheese frosting was overly sweet. One bite and I couldn't even take another. I ended up only eating the carrot cake without the frosting. There went $3 down the drain. I was skeptical when I was reading other reviews stating their cakes were dry and dense. Turned out it is true. The cream never softened up after hours, my girl friend had to ask me to cut the cake for her because she could not slice through it. The cake was very very dense and dry. The "fresh" strawberries were soggy and liquid coming out of strawberries were soaking into the bread, making the cake very unpleasant. I sent same pictures to the store and the lady that picked up the phone told me that she saw nothing wrong with the cake and only offered a 50% refund. But she was overall professional and remained polite, and eventually refunded me the cake. Like the other reviews mentioned, if you are going to eat the cake like most people, go somewhere else unless you like dense and dry cakes and soggy fruits that were previously frozen. The staff will try to make things right which is a plus, but it is a cake shop after all. Now that I've learned my lessons, going to sample the cake before I place the order next time. read more

The service was AMAZING. The cake was BEAUTIFUL. But the reality is that a cake is really only as good as it tastes. The cake was dense instead of light and fluffy. It was closer to bread. The filling was only slightly less dense than the icing and very similar in flavor. If you want a beautiful cake and great service this is the right place. If you want a light and fluffy, traditional birthday or wedding cake do some samples at other bakeries. Include this one on your list. Your taste might be different than ours. read more

Kara did my wedding cake last October, but I'm finally getting around to leaving a review. The cake was PERFECT, exactly what I wanted and (most important) absolutely delicious. She was flexible and excellent with my tasting appointment and was honestly just great to hang out with. My fiancé really wasn't into the whole cake tasting thing, so I appreciated Kara's fun attitude. I'm 47 years old with pretty specific tastes. Our cake looked exactly like what I wanted and was beautiful with our vintage topper. EVERYONE commented on how delicious it was. We had half lemon with berry filling and half chocolate with salted caramel cream filling. The cake had pink buttercream frosting. Everyone is into fondant these days, but I hate it. Kara did a beautiful job of creating the same effect without fondant. Regarding price: wedding cakes aren't cheap, but The Sweet Side was very competitively priced. Yes, you could get a cheaper cake from a grocery store, but it won't be as lovely as this one. The cake arrived on time and I obviously can't say enough about working with The Sweet Side. Since they have opened a brick and mortar store, I stop in once in a while for a treat - always delicious! read more

The Sweet Side definitely exceeded my expectations! I know places usually want at least a month to create a custom cake that would need to serve 30-40 people AND be completed in just a couple weeks. So when I emailed a few bakery's to see if they could do this, I was thrilled to receive a prompt email back from Sweet Side letting me know they could! This was for my mother-in-law's 80th birthday so it was very important to us that the cake be amazing. I threw out some thoughts of what I wanted and they promptly came back with a drawing of what we might be looking for. I had a bunch of little changes (short notice and wanting lots of details to the cake....I was shocked they were still willing to make it!). The next design they sent over was absolutely perfect! I was nervous to have to drive with the cake but they delivered, which in itself saved me a lot of stress. Fast forward to the party and every single person asked where we got it. I found this through an ad on facebook. I had actually been looking for a wedding-esque cake to celebrate my 14th wedding anniversary. I filled out the form and heard back from Brooke pretty quick. I went over what I wanted and why. One of their standard cakes was pretty close to what we had had for our wedding, so I picked the floral crescent cake and asked for pale purple icing since that is what our cake had. When I went to pick up the cake was white, not pale purple. Not the biggest deal I guess, but that was the only design detail I asked for, which bothered me. I asked for sliced strawberries for the filling, and that was probably the best tasting part. The cake was very dense and with the frosting, there wasn't a lot of taste to it. I ordered a custom cake with The Sweet Side for my husband's 40th birthday celebration. The entire process was pretty smooth and painless. I wanted it to have at least 3-4 retro video games with a Lego block topper. Nicole helped me design it to make sure I get all that and still not end up with too much cake. The end result was beautiful and delicious. The details on the cake was spot on. My husband loved the cake and so did all the guests. For the flavors, I got Red Velvet - Cream Cheese for bottom tier and Chocolate - Chocolate Ganache for the top. Yum! Both were really good. Usually I find Red Velvet flavor dry, so don't like it.
