This convivence store/gas station restaurant doesn't look like much but it is the true definition of a hidden gem. I'm not sure if the restaurant goes by "Don Taco" or "Guapo Taco" but signage for Guapo Taco was painted on the inside and outside when I visited. I tried the Mexican Street Elote and Birria Tacos. The elote was some of the best I have ever tried (even when in Mexico). Juicy corn was topped and mixed with creamy mayo and sour cream and paired perfectly with hot sauce. The tacos were also phenomenal! Savory crisped tortillas were filled with tender flavorful beef and gooey cheese and paired flavorful consommé for dipping, crisp onions, limes, and flavorful cilantro. This was some of the best Mexican food I have had in Texas and a must try.

We just moved here from Dallas and we have been having trouble finding a good taco spot.... well... WE FOUND IT! They are really good and if you like alittle extra salt you can add it. The vibe is nice, and his customer service is great! Now, they are a bit pricey if you dont come on a day with a special but its worth it! AND he has Elotes & Aguas frescas

Came back here for the first time since beginning of Covid. I guess this place really boomed since then!!! I love me some Birrieria tacos so I got those which were sooo crispy and greasy in a good way. The consome was beefy as expected. I thought the street tacos were pretty standard, it didn't stand out imo. And the beans/rice were forgettable. What makes this stand out is the owner, he cares about the customers and will go out of his way to make you happy. Deserves a 5 star.

Holy sh!$t!!, we have been in Austin for over a year hoping to find some good Birria Tacos, no luck, we found some freaking amazing tacos here in Ft Worth. Please don't let the place turn you away when you pull up. Yes it's a gas station, yes it doesn't look like a place with amazing tacos but come on in! My wife and I had the birria with consumel, deliciooooosss! I love when the tacos are nice and crispy and the cheese is so hot when you bite in you know they're fresh. The guacamole salsa has a nice bite and just so good. We were here in Dallas to see our Dodgers win 2 out of 3 from the Rangers, Guapo Tacos capped off a great weekend. Next time I am coming to Dallas I'm making a point to head into Ft Worth to get my fix of birria! It's a small place, support this great local eatery.

The hype is real! BEST Birria tacos I have had in DFW. Yes, it's in a gas station.. but to me that makes it better lol. The tacos were packed with meant and meat seasoned to perfection. In the back corner of a convenience store, Guapo Taco is a hidden gem to be sure. Absolutely perfect birria tacos. Flavorful filling with an exterior crunch and a consommé that will become your best friend. Served with a heap of cilantro and chopped onions. Cannot wait to come back.

This is a small taco stand in the back of a gas station convenience store. The taco meats were seasoned nicely, the veggies crunchy and fresh, the salsa tasty and hot! If you like small divey taco places that deliver solid street style tacos, try Guapo Taco. It was recommended to us by some locals as some of the best tacos in Ft Worth so we stopped in for a lunch bite. There a few tables that seat 4 people inside. It seems a lot order tacos to go. The menu was not extensive but what they served was delicious. Would definitely visit this place again when I am hungry for a good street style taco.

Guapo Taco is a hidden gem. It's inside the gas station with a casual interior. Absolutely blown away with the quality of the food here. Birria consumé is smoky, beefy, rich, and delicious. They have trophies on display for their Al pastor tacos but I'm telling you, the consumé is insanely good. Really welcoming staff too.

Heard a lot about this place through friends and reviews. Gave it a try, inside a little gas station and I'm not sure the pumps even work lol. Tried 2 of the "Guapo" style tacos. Both were great, fresh, obviously made to order. It seemed to get busy but not bad but it was a little wait so if you are going for lunch, FYI. But worth the wait! Will be back, they have a nice menu and the chef/owner is very hospitable and attentive to each guest. Will be back! read more

The food was amazing I had the vegan burger and my girlfriend had the asada tacos and street corn. The owner also let me know that he can make a vegan chicken taco and it was the best taco I've had in 12 years. I recommend this place and will be back. These were the best Birria tacos I have ever had, hands down. Yes it is the back corner of a gas station but OMG! The tacos are to die for. The gravy on the side.... First of all,the OWNER-Angel Fuentes- was on his phone the first 8 whole minutes before he acknowledged me and took and my order. Second,when he finally got off the phone,he was rushing me through my order and said "Oou I got you girl." Like don't do that, tf, we are not homies. Thirdly, I literally walked out the store and back in less than 3min and he was already done with my whole order. Which I was trying to make changes to, because my man doesn't eat pork, so I just wanted to take the pastor quesadillas and 3 pastor tacos off and keep my 3 barbocoa tacos. (Which they only had pastor and barbocoa avail,like what kinda shit!?). Then Angel had an attitude and was tossing my food around,huffing and puffin!. Once I finally got my food, he charged me $30 for 3 tacos, and still got mad because HE misunderstood me. But he went ahead and gave me full order and reimbursed me, but still had a terrible attitude. LASTLY, when I started eating, I could tell he just put my barbocoa meat on the PASTOR tortillas bc you could see the red marinade left. Me and my man got sick, and was throwing up, and the meat was runny. Smh! Out of alllllll the times I been here, I've never had issues, I always refer ppl here, but after this experience with the owner himself, they don't have to worry about my service.. do TF better. Yes, it's a convenience store. Yes, the food is amazing. We transported our food (birria tacos) to Hop Fusion. Surprisingly, we ran into Angel, the mastermind chef behind the food, involved in a chili cook off at the brewery. He saw our food bag and couldn't have been more friendly and warm. He let us sample his chili pastor (also amazing). We had plenty of food and we'll go back to try other menu items! It's exciting to see what Angel will do next. read more

Some of the best Tacos we've had in Fort Worth! Found Guapo Taco in a Texas Monthly review. Tried two of the Los Tres Amigos Tacos; El Guapo Taco with Asada and El Borracho with Pastor. They were each presented with a special crema & 3 different salsas. Both tacos were so good - the flavors were so well balanced they didnt need any salsa. We liked the simplicity of the white bean and rice sides. Dont let the gas station appearance put you off and miss this great taco experience. read more

we came in looking for mariachi but found this hidden gem instead and fell in love!! the food was amazing and there are some vegan options, the owner was running everything on his own and made us an amazing meal. i so so so recommend coming here and trying some food for yourself!! they also hope to be adding more vegan options soon which is another thing that will definitely bring us back!! horchata 10/10. read more

The swank, Art Deco atmosphere matches the hotel perfectly, but the food is the real star. For lunch, the Wicked Burger was phenomenal. Built with cheddar, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and a rich sauce on a toasted sesame brioche bun, it hits every savory note perfectly. The rest of the table was equally thrilled with their choices, including the French Dip (loaded with caramelized onions, provolone, and horseradish-garlic aioli on a baguette with a stellar au jus) and the crisp Steak Cobb salad. The truffle fries were a massive hit and a frequent topic of conversation around the table, and even the fountain Diet Coke was perfectly calibrated. I'd be completely remiss if I didn't mention the monster rolls brought out for the table--they are giant, incredibly airy, golden popovers served with a spectacular rosemary honey butter that steals the show before the main course even arrives. For breakfast, I wanted to stay on the healthier side and ordered the Sinclair Breakfast with chicken sausage. The sausage delivered incredible flavor with a perfect, distinct peppery bite. The plate was beautifully balanced with delicate microgreens, and the breakfast potatoes were a total standout--perfectly executed with a great outer char and deep flavor. Paired with excellent, robust Lavazza drip coffee, it was a flawless start to the morning. Across both visits, the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and highly attentive with beverage refills. Top-tier service, great quality, and an absolute must-visit in Fort Worth.

A quick note on seating: the patio is lovely in theory, with the optional open windows and a breezy feel, but the chairs are not winning any comfort awards. Inside booths are the move. Also worth noting, this is Fort Worth, and once the thermometer hits triple digits, the patio conversation ends itself if the windows are open. Plan accordingly. Malai starts every table with steamed sticky rice and an eggplant dip, which is a charming little ritual and a genuinely good one. We also kicked things off with the Edamame, a heads up on the heat level there, and the Fried Imperial Rolls, filled with ground pork and shrimp and served with a sesame soy sauce. Fair warning: these do not photograph well and arrive at the table looking a little shy. Don't be fooled. They're flavorful, subtly spicy, and well worth ordering. For entrees, we tried the Basil Vegetable Fried Rice two ways, one vegan and one with chicken. The vegan version was a genuine surprise, with vegetables cooked just right and a flavor that didn't need the chicken to make its case. The mushrooms, however, had the texture of something you'd find in a hardware store. Chew at your own risk. The Green Curry, meanwhile, was a case of too much of a good thing. The curry was so heavy-handed it drowned everything underneath it. Sometimes restraint is a virtue. Save room for the Banana Pot de Crème. It's creamy, subtly sweet, and a graceful finish to the meal. The service at Malai is enthusiastic, and I do mean enthusiastic. The staff works as a team, all smiles, attentive, always nearby. Occasionally a little too nearby. More than once a plate nearly disappeared before we were done with it. It's a small complaint, and honestly a far better problem than the alternative. They're warm, cheerful, and clearly enjoy what they do, which goes a long way. Portions are generous, so order a few dishes and share the wealth. For a lunch stop between shops, Malai Kitchen punches well above its weight.

Tried Guapo for the first time today and HOLY SMOKES it was incredible! I had the Guapo Taco, the Latin Lover (both with pastor) and the Elotes Loco, and my boyfriend had the lamb Birria tacos with an ice cold horchata. 10/10 would recommend!
