I'm just going to list the bad then finish off with the good. The tub was dirty, it looked like it was never scrubbed once -I'd know because I clean my own house- and there was hair stuck to the walls of the tub. The bed sucked and i Instantly regretted booking the place when I seen the stained sheets. The walls were really thin and I woke up plenty of times to the sounds of other people talking, and opening/closing doors. The heater kept the room warm, water came out of the faucet and the toilet flushed...yay! Spend the extra 50 bucks and book a better place down the street. Trust me it's worth it. read more

Clean, very reasonably priced accommodations opposite the hospital and the school if you need that kind of access. It was quiet at night in spite of being on the highway. The owner provided us with a bathroom heater and was very courteous. We were in the end room that has a King size bed. A KITCHENETTE with a large fridge, range, oven, tables and chairs was provided as our additional room alongside the bedroom. Watch out for the shower as you can accidentally turn it up to scalding if you are not careful. Ask the office for dining recommendations as they sent us to two great local places which we really enjoyed. read more

I only posted one star because it wouldn't take my review. THIS MOTEL DESERVES ZERO STARS. The room was filthy, the glasses were stuck to the tray, there were bugs and there was mold in the shower. The bed only had a mattress, no box spring; I would have been more comfortable sleeping in my car. The bed pillows were flat, $2.00 pillows from Walmart would have been nicer. There wasn't even any Kleenex in the room; I had to blow my nose with toilette tissue. The toilet had a ring around it. I booked a two night stay here as an alternative to the outrageous Valentine's Day/President's Day weekend prices in Mammoth. At only $50 a night, the inconvenience of having to drive between Bishop and Mammoth to get to the mountain was well worth it. The staff were as nice as could be even when we showed up for check-in well after midnight. The room is modest but has everything you need for a quick place to crash. Very clean with working heat and A/C and ceiling fan, coffee maker, plenty of towels and pretty nice toiletries (it's the little things). The only downsides are that there doesn't seem to be housekeeping service during your stay, only before and after, and the room also smelled vaguely of cigarette smoke. However, these are far from being deal breakers and I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to friends. read more

Overall this is a great place. I showed them the special nightly rate that Google had pulled up, and she honored that price no questions asked, which was wonderful and so kind! In the morning she called around to find me another room (to no avail, unfortunately) since they were booked. So helpful! I didn't end up finding another room and was planning on sleeping in my van, but it was also a freezing rainstorm so I wasn't looking forward to it. I got a phone call several hours later from Chris, one of the new managers, that there was a cancellation and she called me immediately afterward. Apparently she'd been worried about me all day! I'm a strong lady who's used to compromised travel conditions, but I sure did appreciate the concern and thoughtfulness. I'll just dive in: PROS: -Superbly friendly and helpful management. They care about the people who walk in the door, and I watched them treat their cleaning staff with the utmost kindness. -Well-kept grounds. -Lot with some protection from the main street, you can park right in front of your door. -Fast and free wifi. -Cute rooms. -Everything in the rooms works (appliances, plugs, etc.) -Very clean sheets, towels, etc. -Generally very clean rooms -Close walk to downtown. It looks far compared to other places, but it's really only 10 minutes to the main part of Main St. -Desks and chairs to work at in the rooms CONS: -Wifi is not password protected. -It's an old building. There are some smells here and there but they're faint and musty, definitely not strong or moldy. -My window was so sticky in the bathroom I couldn't open or close it on my own, I had to get one of the managers to help me close it. Again, it's an old building. -I felt the need to wear sandals in the shower, no big deal, but didn't give me the most confidence to go barefoot. -It's a little loud outside the rooms (easy to hear folks, the road, if people are playing music in their cars, etc.) read more

Bruce was so helpful and being flexible with me and my reservation issues. This is my favorite motel to stay in when I go snowboarding in Mammoth with their great prices and excellent customer service. They accommodated my check in time at midnight and went above and beyond helping me with my reservation issues I had with Booking.com. It has everything you need: coffee maker, microwave, clean towels, etc. It is walking distance from the center of the town where the night life is and is only a short 30minute drive to Mammoth. The beds are comfortable and the staff is beyond friendly and helpful. This is the only place I will stay on my trips to Mammoth! If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. read more

I've stayed at a few hotels in Bishop and my buddy mentioned he liked the trees. So here we go...... when in Bishop, if you can save a few bucks on a decent room, it pays because you will pay 12-15 in taxes on your room. Paying more for a decent room is well.....just paying more. Our trees room was 113.00 double occ. Lol.....the pro's were soft, nice towels and bedding. Very nice. BUT...... The shower was not big enough for a man to stand in and the bathroom was due for a makeover 5yrs ago. The foundation of the shower was rotted out. For 113.00.......i was not impressed at all. By Bishop standards, a 90.00 room all in.....at best. I would stay there again at the right price. The motel and the price were not a match. read more

I'm really sorry to have to write this review. I've been staying at the Trees for many years while on climbing trips. However on this trip I found a bedbug in the room and i have one bite. Unfortunately I only saw the bug after we'd been there for three nights so i'm really paranoid that we've transported some of them home. We checked out one day early and they did refund us for the unused night. Hopefully they will take my report seriously and fumigate the hell out of that place. read more

This is my second time staying here. This Place is the RIGHT spot to stay specially if playing on fishing. What I love about it is the convenience. In the back of the hotel there is a place to clean you fish and store it in the freezer and a barbecue area. We stayed here for 2 nights with our dog. Cassandra helped on the phone & she was friendly & professional. When we arrived, the room was rather small, but immaculant & sufficently stocked (towels, blankets). The 3 of us (our dog, too) slept comfortably on the queen bed. The price was very reasonable at $89 per night. They've got a grassy area with bbq's, it's very homey. The Trees Motel is a 1 story structure, so no upstairs noise, thankfully. The Trees Motel is getting some long-awaited care and touch-ups. A bit of new paint, wood flooring for the sink-areas in the kitchenettes, free wifi, and clean sheets are contributing to make this a friendly small-town motel. The mattresses need some help though - lumpy and tough on the neck and back. Give em' some time to replace those. This is a decent motel and will surely be welcome after a day of driving, cross-country skiing, fishing, hunting, or however you spend your time in the Eastern Sierras. The GF and I stayed here for a week and the only 2 drawbacks were the parking and our neighbors who were up at 430am for their fishing trips. I'll bring earplugs next time. We stood here because it was the only place i could find to sleep 6 ppl. We arrived and the front desk staff was friendly. We went into room 111 and as soon as we walked in it stunk like pee. The room was kinda warm even with the ac and fan on. It cooled down a little in the evening. So i figured we would leave the door open a few minutes to let it air out. Well the room smelled of pee the entire time we stood. I believe it was coming from the carpet. The restroom door didnt close properly or lock. Other than that the room was clean the beds were comfortable. But it was hard to sleep due to the disgusting pee smell. read more

My fiancee and I have stayed here before several times, but with the new management, this place has definitely taken off! Chris (manager) was very welcoming, sweet, and considerate of all our needs. Her and her husband were more than willing to make the accommodations necessary for us to have a safe and smooth trip. The rooms are also kept very clean and organized. If you get the king size room with a kitchen, it has the extra amenities that you need in order to cook in! We will definitely be making Trees Motel our permanent stop when we come to Bishop. This place was cute, clean and a good spot to stay for a few nights while in town. It wasn't fancy but newly renovated and I didn't have any complaints. Nice little kitchen with granite and 2 beds. Very small shower. Cute little outside grassy area to BBQ and sit and have a beer and let the kids run around. Needed a place to stop on our way to Lake Tahoe from San Diego. We stopped here at Trees Motel and it was exactly what we needed - a clean room with a comfortable bed, small fridge, free parking and a coffee maker. Stayed here one January night on my way up to Mammoth for a ski trip. The room I stayed in had comfy beds, good heating (on a frigid night), and it was clean, everything you could ask for on an overnight stay. The people who work the hotel are super friendly, and it was nice having a coffee machine and wifi all set up in the room. Found this motel on Yelp and thought I give it a shot since the reviews were so good. Glad I did, it was a really cool lil spot and the customer service was great as well. When we checked in we were told that the rooms were being remolded and bathroom in the one we stayed in was not quite finished, but it was still nice, CLEAN and had a warm welcome feeling. I have been coming here for almost twenty years but over the past two years this place has been getting worse. Don't know if it's new Mgmt or new owners but there are more and more tweaker type street people hanging around this place. Definitely would not feel comfortable having my wife or daughters sitting out on the lawn after dark. It looked like drugs were being sold out of one of the rooms. Police came out on Saturday night and seemed to be familiar with the scene. Lock cars and take out any valuables. Unfortunately this was the last visit here for us. Used to be great but not any more. We booked this motel last minute when we had to stay in Bishop an extra night waiting for our car in the shop. It's an older motel but the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the AC worked. You can't really beat the price point either compared to some of the other hotels/motels in town. Sarah checked us in and was very friendly. It was a full house the night we were there but we didn't have an issues with thin walls or loud guests. read more

Our ceiling fan had a blade missing so couldn't use it, bed was pretty hard and the old wall unit heater was really loud! Bathroom a bit cramped with toilet kind of sinking in the floor. The refrigerator was so loud, it kept me up all night and there was a sound from a box under the fridge , that sounded as if water was running and dripping all night. Expect a typical old motel that has seen better days. The rooms are small but mostly clean, except for some insects finding their way towards the light through the poorly sealed windows and door. As with many old motels you have the problem of extremely thin walls, so you will hear your neighbours. A very annoying thing is the air conditioning. Even though it seems to have some sort of temperature control, we could only have it either turned on or off the whole time. So you can decide between a quiet hot or a ice cold loud room. For one night the motel is ok. I would give 3 stars if they had more reasonable room rates. read more

I wish I could leave no stars. We have been staying here for 10 years. The past few times we stayed we've noticed there were tweekers hanging around and seemed to know the managers pretty well and the vibe of the place was changing. This last stay this weekend was horrible and we now know this is a tweekers drug den. We saw one room were the drug deals were happening and saw loaded people sitting on the ground unable to talk or move. We called the police because there was screaming and yelling from a whole different room. We thought it was a domestic abuse situation from what we heard but turned out to be a father and his daughter.. so awful and sad. All the patrons who weren't loaded came out of their rooms and were very concerned for the screaming girl. We called the police who we told about the drug deals as well and the officer told us that was very common there. We will never go back. It felt unsafe and the creepy people were disgusting. Don't stay there.. you will regret it!! read more

Amazing place to stay!. My buddy and I came for 7 days to sample the rock climbing and hiking in bishop. The room was very clean, the showers were nice and hot, the beds are comfortable with heavy down comforters. Everything we needed was here from silverware,plates a fridge,coffee maker, griddle ect. If youre like me and cant sleep without a ceeling fan I have great news for you! There is one. There is an ice maker outside that saved us time from running into town before we went to explore. The staff is very friendly providing us with any extra towels and wash cloths we needed. They were also very helpful with maps and information around town. On our last day we wanted to get out early and hike but there was not enough time to do that and get back to shower before our ride back to LA then the flight to Atlanta.
