    Screws not holding anything

Years ago, this motel was run by a older couple who retired from the Los Angeles area. They took a great deal of pride in providing a well-maintained, cozy place for their customers. I assure you there's nothing well maintained or cozy about this motel at this time. The motel has been painted a festive green, blue, and purple. There is no indication of any recent updates or renovations in the courtyard or outside areas that would attract you to this location, except they have a nice fish cleaning area to the rear of the building. Years ago, they did a halfhearted renovation of the rooms with tile, some newer furniture and wood flooring. The tile is cracked, the floors slope, and are squeaky and there's nothing inviting about staying in these rooms. I will note the beds were clean and comfortable. My stay was based on a short business trip overnight. The people in the room next to us and I might mention the walls are paper, thin, were loud and obnoxious. We had to listen to them argue with other people at their door and the screaming of I'll call the police on you, I'll call the police on you. I think the other frustration is that the rates for this motel is equal to many of the newer facilities in the city of Bishop. If this were a $39 room and the only thing you can afford maybe you would stay there but other than that, look elsewhere.

Three stars for bed comfort. Zero for window fit, locking, road noise. Entering 117, right on the main drag, the door seal is in disrepair. Everything is old. The floor sags as you enter. Nice having kitchen to warm up food. Fridge and freeze work well as does stove. Don't expect anything newer than old iks for pots and kitchen ware. Tv worked well. Bathroom sink small area for cosmetics. Tub was newer and shower worked great. Soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers are cheap. The conditioner dispenser didn't work. The soap dispenser came off in my hand while showering. This place needs a total overhaul with new windows, doors etc. Popcorn in lobby was a nice touch. But hey, it's a motel in Bishop.

DISGUSTING! If I could give zero stars I would.  I read reviews before I booked. I expected an older motel and reviews made me think it was old, but quaint and clean. It was NOT clean. At arrival the lobby door was locked so we had to check in behind the desk. I almost walked out at that moment. There were candy wrappers on the floor and it smelled like cat pee. But I was trying to be positive.  When we walked in the room, there were crumbs on the floor all around the foot of the bed, hair and black spots on the blanket, and ants in the bathroom.  The front desk person was leaving and we let her know that the room wasn't clean and she said she would send housekeeping.  There was no housekeeping so she basically lied to our face. I had some cleaner and paper towels in my car cleaned up the ants in the bathroom floor and came up with a bunch of hair. There was a large clump of hair in the shower. The windows didn't lock,  the microwave was disgusting.  I checked other hotels and there were no vacancies so we had to make the best of it. We pulled back the covers to the bed and there was a dirty piece of tape stuck to the flat sheet. We went to Big 5 and bought blankets to sleep on. I felt so dirty and uncomfortable.  Luckily I had brought my own pillow. Parking is tight and to exit we had to back into traffic. With the roof being worked on it was extremely tight. The best part of our stay was leaving.

Don't judge a book by it's cover! This place is very clean and quaint. Will come again

Dog friendly, tattoo wild at heart friendly. Checked us in late passed midnight. Room was clean and it appeared freshly remodeled. Came with microwave mini frig and mini coffee maker. Manager received us with a big smile and he appeared to be happy to take us in. We got a big clean bed with lots of hot water. Lots of big white fluffy towels for my red bloody hair. Such a shame I had to wash my hair and I left those towels looking like they were dragged all over the civil war battle field. LOL No carpet only synthetic wooden floors. That alone was an extra perk. Room service is professional! I am a fan so if you are flying by stop in and check it out.

Arrived at this hotel with high expectations on 12/29/19. Upon arrival, room was not ready at check in time. Came back 45 minutes later and was checked in to room next to front office. Was charged over $300 even though reservation was for ~$250. After 2 hours of incredibly loud noise by the hotel staff, blatant drug use and dealing next door, to the point of causing concern for safety, we had to leave the hotel. The staff was loud and abusive. Was not offered any refund even though we didn't stay even 1 night. Owner was rude and would not offer remedy. Had to find last minute accommodations elsewhere. Still haven't received response or refund. Filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for fraud and failure to deliver services on 12/31. Stay very far away! This place may have been nice once upon a time, but the owners have turned it into a fleabag slum and will try to take you for every penny they can! Will update this review if hotel provides remedy.

They do not provide trailer parking, but there's a park across the street with RV parking. The hotel is gorgeous with a rustic, elevated, cabin feel. Has a small creek in the middle of it with relaxing chairs and fire pits. The Jacuzzi was also very lovely, we spent a very lovely afternoon /evening there. We also had a pet friendly room that accommodated our 2 small dogs. They have areas for the dogs to go potty, which is awesome. They also have an outstanding lobby bar / lounging are that was very relaxing. Diego the bartender was outstanding on both separate times we stayed there. The food is delicious. I highly recommend the Caesar salad with grilled chicken, the mushroom pizza and the barbecue chicken pizza. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, and there was hard water on the bathroom, shower glass, but it happens. Some people prefer soft beds. Some people prefer firmer beds. I understand that. Yes, it's on the more expensive side, but it's a gorgeous hotel and people shouldn't complain. If it's too much then don't book it ! The cancellation policies & prices are upfront so I don't understand why people complain about that.

Before booking, travelers should understand that Wayfinder appears to enforce its cancellation policy even when a major wildfire prevents the original trip from taking place. The hotel offered to convert my one night reservation into a credit, but only if I selected and confirmed new travel dates within 48 hours. In my view, that is not a reasonable accommodation. When travel is unexpectedly disrupted by a natural disaster, it can take weeks or months to determine when a replacement trip will be possible. A more customer-friendly approach would be to issue a credit valid for 6-12 months and allow guests to book new dates when their plans are finalized. We also discussed moving the reservation forward by one night to accommodate our revised itinerary. While I understand that weekend rates are higher, the additional cost would have been several hundred dollars, making that option impractical. As a result, I lost the cost of one night's stay and will not be booking with Wayfinder in the future. This was my first experience with the company, and unfortunately it left me with the impression that there is little flexibility for guests facing extraordinary circumstances beyond their control. Management already has my contact information. I hope you'll reconsider and issue a credit that can be used within the next year, rather than requiring a new reservation to be booked within 48 hours.

The first impression wasn't great. The front doors to the lobby were dirty, and the entryway leading to our room smelled strongly of urine. There was also dried dog waste that appeared to have been there for some time. Our room had ants, which was disappointing, especially considering the nightly rate of $232. The breakfast was also below expectations. The eggs were runny, the sausage was overcooked, and the coffee was some of the worst we've had during our trip. The biggest disappointment was the customer service. Ben at the front desk was rude and condescending, which made an already disappointing stay even worse. After staying at numerous Best Western properties on this trip, we know the level of quality the brand is capable of. Unfortunately, this location fell far short of those standards. At $232 a night, we expected a much cleaner property, better customer service, and a more enjoyable experience. We would not choose to stay here again.Do Not Recommend!!

I'm surprised it was rated an overall 3 star, it is definitely 2 star category. The breakfast was fine though like others in the comments stated - the eggs were terrible. The waffle was good and the yogurt with toppings. Coffee was fine. The pro and con was that the AC. It keeps the room cool but is so damn loud which is nice because you also can't hear your neighbors having sex. The one thing this hotel needs to work on. As they allow dogs, which is great, please create a place for them to pee and poop. As it is now, you have to walk them where the cars are parked and all there is - is dirt and rocks and very little space for them to do their business. How about take a small portion of the parking lot and create an enclosure with fake grass that can be hosed down and have little poop bags? Because the hotel does such a poor job of no grass for the dogs, dogs poop along the area and leave the poop. This should really be addressed. It's frustrating.

This was our first time and we had our dog so finding a pet friendly hotel that's decent, is always a challenge. This one checked all the boxes. But there were more spaces on the other side that we didn't know about until we walked our dog. There's also a bowling alley nearby. We only stayed for one night and it really was more like a 12- hour stay but it was enough to get rested, fed and our room was comfortable. The breakfast selection was pretty well stocked. Pros: The entrance is nice. I can tell they upgraded it recently. Looks clean and I can see the effort made to make it nice. They have water and ice in the lobby, which is nice. The fitness room is decent for a motel. Breakfast isn't much but it's filling. It works. It's toast, cereal, bagels, egg whites, oatmeal, yogurt, bananas, apples, milk, peanut butter, jelly, cream cheese and coffee. It's not gourmet but it works. The breakfast place is nice, clean and upgraded. I do feel like they try their best to make this place comfortable. The effort shows. I love that the entrance to the rooms is indoors. It's walking distance to restaurants and the park. I'm assuming this is the downtown. I had a dog and they were very friendly and accommodating. I love that they have a bathtub. I have toddlers so it was a nice way to bathe them. Plenty of parking. Cons: One of the major disappointments for me is the wifi. It's extremely slow. This is a big major point for me because I have to work on my laptop and when videos aren't loading it's difficult to work. The doors look old and outdated. It just lowers the aesthetic. There are no elevators, which I already knew. I can overlook that though, my main compliant is the WiFi, especially for the price.

An Unexpected Gem in Bishop -- And Todd Deserves a Promotion!…read more I was driving from Las Vegas to Burning Man and had to stop for the night in Bishop. I usually stay at places like Best Western, but this time they wanted $230 for one night, so I started looking around and found Vagabond Inn at a much more reasonable price. And wow -- what a surprise! Everything started with my phone call. Mr.Todd, who was on duty tonight, answered the phone and was absolutely excellent. He was clear, polite, professional, quick, and even handled my jokes with a great sense of humor. He gave me all the information I needed right away. When I arrived, I was honestly shocked. At midnight, guests can still have something to eat -- milk, fruit, breakfast items, bananas, and other food are available. After a long drive, that was an incredible touch. I have traveled all over the United States and have never seen this kind of hospitality at a hotel. And then I entered my room. Usually, when you walk into a hotel, there is that familiar smell of old furniture, cleaning products, air fresheners, and years of guests staying there. Not here. This room smelled fresh and clean, like home. The bedding was exceptionally clean, the curtains were spotless, and I could not find a speck of dust anywhere. But I especially want the management to know about Todd. This guy deserves recognition -- and, in my opinion, a promotion. He was prepared, professional, attentive, friendly, and extremely efficient. He communicates clearly, gives complete information the first time, and never makes you ask the same question twice. Exactly what outstanding hotel service should look like. I was so impressed that I even took a photo with Todd -- something I rarely do with hotel employees. Please look at the photos attached to this review. Vagabond Inn gets 5 stars -- actually 5 stars squared, maybe even cubed! If you're traveling through Bishop on your way to Burning Man, don't overthink it -- stay at Vagabond Inn. Great value, incredibly clean, and genuinely friendly service. And Todd -- you are a star. Keep it up!
