Dean, a kind gentleman came by our table, introduced himself and offered his recommendations along with our menus. Since we were on lunch, we opted for a tea and a soda but decided on one of the specials. I delighted in the Boost Bowl with a medium salmon as my protein. My husband ordered the New Union Burger. Dean topped off our drinks, never letting them get empty and brought out our food within a reasonable lunch-hour time. My salad bowl was full of greens, black beans, sweet roasted Mexican corn, topped with fresh avocado and a perfectly seared piece of salmon. My husband's burger was cooked just as he ordered and topped full of crisp onion rings and freshly baked chips. Neither of our plates had anything left, we polished off every bit of our menu items. While we did not have room for dessert, Dean brought out a to-go tea and wished us well. What a pleasure he was to have today! Dining at The Union Kitchen - Memorial was such a delight. I have had appetizers and drinks before at UK that I liked. This was my first entree and dessert and it was thru Door Dash. I had the meatloaf (which had good reviews). I liked the sauce but the meatloaf itself...instead of a nice chunk, there were two small pieces the thickness of a slice of bread! Disappointing. The green beans were lightly sautéed and rather tough, I'd prefer them more cooked. I had the chocolate mousse cake and there seemed to be tiny pieces of nuts IN the mousse, not just sprinkled on it. I got the ahi nachos and they were delicious! My aunt got brussel sprouts. Pulled pork egg rolls. Brussels were crispy and cooked perfect with the aioli on the side. Pork rolls were good, but too much meat in them, which some would prefer. But it was too out of balance for me personally. The staff were really friendly and made sure we were good. My sweet sister in law took my husband and me here for lunch on the 4th of July. We wanted to go light as we were looking forward to overdoing it later on ribs and other BBQ fixings. The staff was welcoming, and the space was open and bright. Our waiter was sweet and very efficient. I had a roasted beet salad and my hubs went with a crabmeat Napoleon. Jeffery was our Server and he was friendly, quick to check on all the many tables he was tending to, and exactly who you want representing you from an employer standpoint! My daughter had a balsamic portobello mushroom and chicken dish on a prior visit that was no longer offered. Jeffery communicated that to chef who adeptly recreated it! My shrimp scampi had the perfect amount of lemony butter sauce needed to elevate a simple dish and was delicious with my glass of well priced chardonnay. It's a lovely neighborhood spot with the right level of music for conversing and plenty of parking. This is by far my favorite restaurant. The Saturday and Sunday brunch is unbelievably delectable. They offer many choices with options for the healthier crowd including Egg whites with your choice of many Options with delectable biscuits with honey better. This was my first time visiting. I treated a very special friend to a birthday lunch. We arrived at 11am which the time this restaurant opens. This place does take reservations and I suggest that if you decide to come without making one, come at the time it opens because shortly after we were seated, the patio had quite a few diners. The inside decor is very nice and the host was nice and was wearing a mask along with the rest of the staff; my friend and I decided to dine outside on the patio. We were initially seated near the rail close to the parking lot. However, shortly after we sat down, the pigeons wanted to join us but we had to respectfully decline and requested to be seated at another table; this was was done without issue. Along with the rest of the guests, social distancing was observed and the waiters and staff ensured that empty plates, glasses, and trash were promptly removed. I order the Lobster Potstickers and the Fried Asparagus Di Mare (which are both appetizers) and my friend ordered the Shrimp and Jalepeno Smoked Gouda Grits! While waiting on our orders to arrive, I had a frozen Strawberry Margarita and my friend had a Bloody Mary; we pleased. When our food arrived, I was disappointed in the Lobster Potstickers because they barely had any lobster inside. However, the Asparagus Di Mare was delicious. A very interesting take on one of my favorite underrated vegetables. I didn't get a chance to taste my friends dish but the presentation was beautiful and he expressed to me that he enjoyed his meal. Union Kitchen strikes me as a restaurant in search of an identity. A very upscale dining area and private room with wait staff attired in all black. Then we see several managers patrolling the floor in golf shirts. And with upscale ambience, piped in country music hardly seemed appropriate. We came for a late afternoon brunch. I will say the breakfast brunch items looked delicious and served with beautiful presentation. If you come for Eggs Benedict in any variation, or pancakes, waffles or French toast, I'm sure you'll be more than pleased. Unfortunately, we took a different route. Since every pasta dish seemed to come in a cream sauce, and every chicken dish was covered by bread crumbs or some other crunchy cover, our choices appeared limited. My wife ordered ravioli in a Sugo Rosa Sauce. No mention of cream in the description, but there it was. The order had perhaps 8 small ravioli and a sprinkle of lump crab. They were tasty, but sparsely filled. We were later told we could order any dish with marinara sauce. As no item on the menu made mention of marinara availability, it never occurred to us. The waiter suggested we should have realized they serve marinara, because they serve pizza. Yet every pizza was some gourmet concoction. Not even a simple veggie option. So, based on our waiters logic, because they serve side dishes of spinach, etc., we should have known they would make a veggie pizza. My dinner was a double cut pork chop served with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. The potatoes were a bit too buttery, but tasty. The spinach was limp and on the oily side. The pork chop a bit too pink. And smothered in a vinaigrette that was thin and very sweet. The sauce overpowered the chop. A drizzle or better reduction would have worked better. I did have the best Bloody Mary I've had in quite a while. Service was attentive but not smothering. My suggestion. Go for an early brunch and stick to the breakfast items. It is not in my nature to complain about circumstances that may be out of someone's control; however, I feel is important to relay feedback on a troubling experience my family had today while attempting to dine at the Union Kitchen - Towne Lake. My family had a confirmed reservation and when we arrived at the restaurant I was told they cannot honor my reservation as there were other customers who had made reservations days in advance. This information was untrue as the only patrons waiting were walk-in customers. There were open tables that I was told was being held for a 1 PM reservation. I asked to speak with the general manager. He told me that I would need to wait 20 minutes to do so. I then simply requested the corporate number. A waiter became overtly aggressive in his behavior, raising his voice and speaking directly into my face while not wearing a mask. I construed his actions as extremely inappropriate and borderline assault. The general manager acknowledged his staff's inappropriate behavior, but remained less than helpful. No effort was made to honor the reservation. In fact, he stated he would have my family banned from his restaurant if I filed a complaint. Respectfully, I understand when a restaurant is busy and may not be able to accommodate, but a customer should be treated courteously. Feeling assaulted is unacceptable. I hope this email will help remedy this unprofessional behavior in the future. read more

I would say its a trendy crowd mixed with your local Memorials to describe the people there. It's also more fancier than I expected to be with white table clothes and glitzy fixtures. Lunch today consists of a blackened dynamite chicken with papaya salsa, chipotle lime butter, mixed veg of carrots, cauliflower , zucchini , and yellow squash, and seasoned rice. As much as I love chicken fried steak, I was looking for something less heavy. This meal did not disappoint . The meal is very flavorful. I typically don't care for cauliflower or cooked carrots, but I ate all my veg. The rice itself is a little bland, but if you mix it with some of the sauce or veg, then the rice is elevated. This is my first time at Union Kitchen for dinner, in the past I've only done brunch. The location is right on memorial in a shopping center and there's plenty of parking. They take reservations and have indoor and outdoor seating. The food.....in my food life I can be very indecisive so it took me a few to decide on an entree. For an appetizer we went with the spinach dip, which was yuck. It had an off taste to it, like someone was trying to recreate the wheel. I say pass on the dip,it's not worth it. Now for entrees we had the rack of lamb, substituted the risotto for Brussels sprouts and the trout subbing the dirty rice for the loaded potato. Both entrees were spot on, the lamb was cooked very well and more so seasoned wonderfully. The Brussels sprouts and green beans were a perfect pairing. The trout was also seasoned and cooked well, my date left no remaining evidence of the meal on the plate. We skipped the dessert but the tray looked yum, so leave room and tell me about the desserts. I made a reservation here to celebrate both a birthday and a graduation for a friend. We got there 10 min before our 11am Sunday reservation and took a few pics outside. When we got in I thought it was interesting that all the waitstaff wore masks but the hostesses didn't...weird. The manager (or owner?) was very kind and offered to open the door for us since we were laden with bags of gifts/balloons. A glass of mimosa is $6, but a bottle of champagne that comes with two options of juice was $25. Since there was three of us, it was $18 (glasses) vs $25 (bottle) so we went with the better option. Now I was kind of shocked that the juice bottles were so tiny. Yes, I like more champagne than juice in my mimosa but these two little bottles of juice made zero sense to me...For food I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was perfect. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the potatoes were as good, or dare I say even better than the eggs. Seasoned very well!! A con I would say is the layout of the inside. Everyone and their grandma/pa (literally) was dining in today and they all had walkers/canes etc and had so much trouble maneuvering through the tables. In the area, we decided to try a place we hadn't heard of before. We checked out their menu online before going in and saw they had a decently priced lunch menu. We stopped by for a late (3pm) Saturday lunch. There was a large party happening on the patio, but the main dining room was quiet, with only one other table occupied. We were seated and then realized that we were the first 4 top next to the kitchen. The kitchen ended up being really loud. We could hear all the kitchen noise as well as the waiters discussing the most recent episode of The Walking Dead. Why would they seat us there when the rest of the dining room was open? Our waiter was attentive and our service was good. We both ordered the same thing: BBQ chicken sandwich. It came out quickly and looked good. The homemade chips were ok. The onion rings on the sandwich were too spicy. I mentioned it to the waiter and he was concerned. I was pleased that he took notice and checked with the kitchen and found that there was too much paprika in the onion ring mix. Overall our experience was ok. I felt like we were in the way of their shift change, private party on the patio, private party getting ready in the separate dining room etc... Atmosphere was upscale casual (I was in a tshirt, jeans, and tennies). The weather was nice so we opted for the patio, which is pretty large. It got a little warm, but we found out later that it was because some of the plastic patio flaps weren't raised. Since it was an odd time there were only 2 other tables. Seafood entrees: 1) Scallops over Risotto this time comes with 3 mega-sized scallops on top of a bed of Risotto. Last time I had 6-7 medium sized scallops. The scallops aint chewy at all; very soft and pan seared beautifully. I would highly recommend it! 2) Chilean sea bass is prepared seasonally over a generous heaping of edamame and corn; the entrée itself is super beautiful to look at, and the fish tastes fresh and yummy as well! Steak & Chop: 1) Ribeye steak is huge in portion size and the friend seems to have enjoyed it a lot. 2) Bone-in veal chop with mushroom risotto is worth the $29 price tag.
