So disappointing. Have eaten here three times and only had one good lunch. We tried for dinner tonite. Ordered the fried asparagus. Heavily breaded and tasteless. Breading actually overpowered the taste of the asparagus. Ordered the pizza. Takes up a third of one page on the menu so thought it must be something special. It was not. The crust was tasteless. No sauce. When we told the person walking around talking to patrons, he offered to bring us some sauce on the side. Frankly, I prefer it on my pizza. The frozen pizza my grandkids live tastes better. The waiter was very polite. We tried for brunch on a Sunday, four people, four tasteless meals. We will not be back. It's a low end restaurant trying to masquerade as high end. It's a shame. Came here for lunch with some neighbor friends after we watched a movie nearby. I was expecting something different from the looks from the outside. Inside looks very formal and welcoming. Nabbed a spot at the bar on Sunday because they were in a wait and we wanted to get maximum value out of the bottomless mimosas. The brunch menu is awesome. There's a Benedicts section on there! I had the Trio Eggs Benedict which included a Crab cake version, southwest style with chorizo and masa cake, and the traditional with Canadian bacon on English muffin. All were great! My friend had the chicken and biscuit which was delicious. Also enjoyed the bottomless mimosas and one of a kind freshly made donut holes served atop Nutella...and the bananas foster waffles I look forward to more brunches here in the future. This place has really gone downhill. This was our second terrible meal in a row at this favorite restaurant. Tonight, my daughter's steak was well done when it should have been medium. My braised beef short ribs came out cold and so was the sweet potato purée that was supposed to be warm. They didn't have the stuffed crab avocado appetizer (they didn't have it the last time either). Our shared dessert came out with only one spoon because they didn't have any other clean ones. Seriously. Our cappuccinos came out after we finished dessert. $158 later and we won't go back. read more

What can I say about this restaurant? From the time we walked through the door to the time we left, our experience was wonderful!! The food was great. The ambiance was nice with a live musician. The manager and staff did an amazing job welcoming us, and checking on us etc. We were in the area for a sports event for my 8 year old daughter. We went to Union Kitchen after hearing really great reviews about their brunch. Once we got there we were greeted by our server Sam. We each ordered a carafe of mimosas since we didn't see and he was unsure about the bottomless mimosa option. Ok cool - a carafe is fine. We asked him for waters also but we didn't receive them until almost time for our meal. When we ordered we were expecting much more food then what we received. We actually had to recheck the menu since it didn't seem right what we were served but apparently it was. Anyway - moving on. It was fine. We were going to stay and have a few more cocktails but - Sam - oh Sam. Sam came up to our table and asked my friend if he was ok (his carafe was still half full). He answered - why yes I am. Slightly confused on why he was asking him specifically. Sam says "Good. Your face and head (he is bald) is really red and I want to make sure you haven't had too much alcohol. Its looking that way" He said - um no I just have Rosacea. Sam says "Oh ok my aunt has that. Is there anything else I can do? I'm bringing your checks right out" Yall - we got cut off for having Rosacea lol. It was humiliating for him to call him out like that. The tables are pretty close together where we were sitting so of course the people next to us heard it. Needless to say this was our first and last trip to the Union Kitchen. Was pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere pretty upscale for Kingwood. Hostess were super friendly. Wine list was great and so were the prices. Prisoner for $50. That tell me they want to sell good wine. Trace, our server was awesome. Great attitude and knew his menu well. No rush, just great service. We had the Salmon and pistachio crusted chicken. Salmon was perfectly cooked with a light sauce. My chicken was good with pasta and sauce. Nice combo. Had the grilled brocollini. Perfectly cooked. We each had a glass of wine and the prices were not crazy. Nothing like a $20/glass of wine when the bottle is $22. I think the wines were $12 each, not bad and pretty good stemware. Not like some of those 3 pound glasses off of a pirate ship. The atmosphere was very elegant but not stuffy. The breakfast was delicious. I had the slider pancakes, and splurged without regret for the Bloody Mary buffet. The service was fast but not too fast. The manager, Isidro,came to check on us and when I told him it was our first time here he welcomed us by giving us a free appetizer coupon for our next visit. It was a bit pricy but well worth it. The biggest disappointment- we've brunched at Union on TC Jester and was hoping to enjoy dinner near home in Kingwood. Ordered carnitas egg roll for appetizer- bland. No seasoning. "Sauce tasted like it came from a jar. Husband ordered Braised short rib - dry hardly any juice absolutely zero seasoning- I ordered the "Chef's Special " Prime rib and grilled shrimp - shrimp looked like previously frozen. Grilled but no seasoning- prime rib was cold to the touch when served - and meat was not consistent in its "done-ness" - again poorly seasoned. Creamy horseradish sauce thin like water - au jus non existent- left with tons of leftovers that we hope to salvage with some homemade additions to be able to palate the nearly 100.00 we spent for dinner read more

So I am going to review this place based on three topics: ambiance and decor, service, and food Ambiance: This place looks fantastic, it really is well done inside. It has an upscale feel but still casual enough to come in for lunch. The wood paneling inside adds a very special touch to the place. They have a semi-private room that doubles as wine storage and would do wonderful for a small private event. Food: The food here is delicious, just all around wonderful. I got the chicken fried chicken and substituted the veggies and mashed potatoes for fries and mac and cheese. The chicken fried chicken wasn't the best one I have ever had, but it was still pretty good. The mac and cheese is fantastic! The truffle fries are to die for! The vanilla creme brulee is really yummy as well! Service: This is where the place loses a star. Our waiter wasn't really the best, he seemed to be pretty distracted even though the restaurant as a whole wasn't even very busy. It took him a good bit of time to take orders and then really never would come back and check on us. He seemed to be offended when we said we wouldn't be at the location on Saturdays because it is close to where we work but not to where we live. It took a long time to get food out and it was all brought out at different times. He put plates in front of the wrong person, he never could be tracked down when we had a question or problem. It took a while to get the check. He was a really nice guy, just seemed to be out of it. It was a coworkers birthday and we had told the hostess and our waiter that we wanted a candle on the dessert and when it came time for the dessert they both forgot. Overall, I would recommend this place, but just be aware you might not be getting the best service. read more

My husband and I were looking for somewhere to eat after church. We had been to other restaurants in the area several times, but we wanted to try something new. Were we in for a surprise!!! We didn't have a reservation, so we had to wait a few minutes (we know next time to reserve). We were told we had to wait for 45 minutes, but we only had to wait 5! The wait staff was very nice and the food was delicious!! The manager Ralph came over to the table to see how things were going. He was very nice and gave me and husband an extra treat before we left. The price was very reasonable and we had a wonderful time. We will definitely be adding Union Kitchen to our favorite places to eat in the Kingwood area. It was a very pleasant experience!!!!! read more

Thank you, thank you, thank you Union Kitchen! I wanted an upscale experience for the last night of my team training in Houston and you guys delivered. Arranging a meal for 24 people isn't always an easy feat, but the process was very smooth. I didn't love any of the group menus provided, so I asked to mix and match items from several of the menus, which was accommodated easily by the event manager when booking. When we arrived, we had custom printed menus with our company logo - a nice surprise! Since we had eaten lunch early and had some physical activity that afternoon, I ordered some appetizers for each table while we were waiting for the staff and kitchen to be ready to start our food ordering process. Food was good and we were all excited for our meals! The staff was phenomenal - very gracious and friendly to us throughout our nearly 4 hours. I had one vegetarian and one vegan in the group, which I had alerted the event manager to in advance and both said their meals were great (my vegan guest said it was one of the best vegan dinners he had ever had!). My take on the food (from the selections I had): Creamed asparagus soup - AMAZING! I rarely get excited about soup, but this was soooo tasty I wanted more. Caesar salad - I prefer my dressing tossed on my greens, but I get with a large group, dressing on the side is a safer route. Nice size for a 4 course meal as it was not overwhelming but a good touch between soup and entree. Steak and shrimp - the proteins were good, but those grits were out of this world. Seriously, blue cheese seems strange for grits, but it just really worked and the grits were a wonderful consistency. Dessert - I ordered cheesecake, and then took it to go and never ate it before leaving town (sadly), so I can't say how it was - though it looked amazing and was a huge piece. I did, however, try a bite of bread pudding which was to die for. Just like soup, bread pudding is not a thing I get excited about, so I was really blown away. As for the service, when we were finishing up I had people that were tired from the day and others that wanted to go out for the evening, so the staff wrapped up all of our desserts to go, which was very nice. I have been here twice for happy hour, once for lunch, and another event which was a woman's luncheon in a private room where the chef made the appetizer asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and the grilled shrimp salad and a dessert (which was obviously nondescript because I don't remember what it was!). That being said, happy hour has not been discovered yet as no one has been in there when I've gone with my friends. House wine and drinks are $5, most beers are $3. Appetizers are half price. Appetizers are hit or miss. The best, so far, is the asparagus wrapped in prosciutto. The portobello mushroom is OK, spinach and artichoke dip is different, but good, avocado balls (not called that) are pretty good as long as they are warm. The pot stickers are really good. Not so good was the crab stuffed avocado deep fried. And the sun dried hummus--don't waste your money. For lunch I had the onion soup and Caesar salad, and my cousin had the calamari appetizer. She said she liked it. I was disappointed in the soup--it had a piece of cheese (not melted) in the soup. It wasn't the nice onion soup with the broiled melted cheese on top that was over the side of the bowl. BIG disappointment! BTW, Happy Hour is 3-6:30 Monday thru Friday. read more

Let me start off by saying I love this place, I really like the food, the hostess and bar staff are always super nice and accommodating (wait staff is good to decent most days), and I love having somewhere that is this level of quality in this part of Kingwood (or any part of Kingwood for that matter). So, you've got to be asking by now, why only one star? The bread. Seriously, you guys used to serve the bread in a nice basket, now it comes in a paper bag? Considering the ambiance of this place and the quality of the menu, bread in a paper bag is way below what your standards should be. It's just tacky. Plus, the bread quality itself has gone seriously down hill the last few times I've been, I normally don't even bother with it any more. Don't believe the map they posted on here! This place is just off of the 59N feeder in the same lot as the Los Cucos and Sears. I was looking forward to trying this place with the gf and it did not disappoint! I was never there when it was the italian place, but people keep saying that it looks about the same, which I think is quite nice actually, dimly lit and kind of intimate. For starters we had the fried guacamole, it comes with a bit of instruction on how to eat it, but definitely take their word for it because after you get all the parts on the chip its really unique and good! For an entree I had a pizza which was very good, but my date had their signature burger which she let me try, and I really want to get one of my own next time! They also had some decent beers on tap, though I do like to see more dark beers. My only regret is that I left the to go box on the table :'( read more

This is exactly what needed to be done with the old Sorrento location. The local buzz about this branch of Union Kitchen sparked a frenzy with the Northeast area. Opening shortly after the new Krogers, just after the big billboard that shows the future development of Kingwood Parc, U.K. is like putting a feather in the cap of the Kingwood area. My boss came in to work one day gushing about the great deal on Groupon. It was $39 for one app, two full entrees and a desert. As a little treat to ourselves, the boyfriend and I decided to come here with my daughter. Booking a reservation here is mandatory, you WILL wait if you are a walk in. The interior was refined and polished with a vast bar area that adorned the back center of the room. Each table wears a set of goblet type wine glasses with crisp linens. Very Houston-esk for our Kingwood area. The wait staff here is absolutely wonderful! I couldn't believe how friendly and helpful our server was. Having a Groupon, we expected subpar service but our waiter gave us rec's on appetizers that weren't on the menu. We chose the truffle mac, well because it sounded fantastic! The mac was really rich, there was a very strong, sharp blend of cheeses and potato chips sprinkled on top. For entrees we got the lamb chops and veal chops. The lamb was a little bit fatty to my liking and I did my best not to pick up the bone and start gnawing on it at the table.. that's not that lady like. The carrot purée under my veal was heavenly and I flipped over the chops to get a heaping fork full of it. Boyfriend said the veal was great and he left with a clean plate. My daughter opted for the kids burger and it 2 mini burgers on artisan buttered buns. The children's menu here is surprisingly reasonable but with the atmosphere here I wouldn't suggest bringing your herd of minions. Desert was up to my daughter and she chose the ice cream cookie sandwich. Her and the boyfriend shared and in no time it was devoured. They do have beers on tap upon request and an extensive wine list. I would recommend buying a bottle, the cab I chose was oaky and smooth but at 13 bucks per glass, I opted out of a second glass.
