Not sure what happened to a local favorite. Called in a to go order and got home to find they gave me the wrong entre. Called and dealt with several inexperienced people on the phone that took almost 10 minutes to figure out what to do. Finally said they would make up my kung pao and to come in. I came in and it wasn't ready, but the hostess refused to take back the wrong entre, told me to keep it. After several times explaining I didn't want it, she still wouldn't take it so I set it on the floor and she was very put off by having to take it back. I get my order after a decent wait and get home. It isn't even cooked, tastes like month old, dry breaded chicken... needless to say. A poor experience in every facet tonight. read more

I ordered a burger and Ceasar salad to go. I ordered off their website so I assumed they'd text me when the order was ready. They didn't. I went inside 5 minutes after the estimated ready time posted on my order page. I waited to eat until I got to my next jobsite, a half mile down the road. The salad was in a nice resealable container, however there was NO dressing whatsoever. Also, there was not a fork or napkin setup supplied. Because the restaurant was so close, I drove back to obtain the dressing and utensils. The young lady at the door got me a very small 2oz container of dressing that she placed inside my salad container and she offered me a couple plastic utensil setups. Fine. I got back to my jobsite to eat again. Well the Ceasars dressing turned out to be oil and vinegar (I think). Well, I thought, fine. I'll eat the burger...I ordered it med-well. It was med-RARE at best. All the condiments they slathered on top of the pattie were so wet and greasy I could barely hold on to the damn thing. Just awful. I don't like to leave bad reviews but this experience was just over the top poorly executed from the get-go. And no, I don't want my damn money back. I just wanted a good meal for my $18 bucks. read more

We've been several times since my last review. We probably go once or twice a year. Service was fine (although she forget my drink with dessert until we were almost done). The food is just hit or miss though. Depends on what you order I guess. Chili Wings - Okay, but kinda oily. Chicken Parm w/Fettuccine Alfredo - Always solid. Chicken Schnitzel - Solid. Nice and crispy. Good flavor. Chicken under a brick - The breast was dry and rubbery. So disappointing. Cheese grits - Not good at all. Looks like cheddar, and the waitress said it's cheddar, but it was sour, almost vinegary. I don't know what they're doing with this, but it's not good. I didn't want more than 1 bite. Fingerling potatoes - Undercooked. We do potatoes at home all the time, and they come out tender. These were too firm (undercooked). Creme brulee - Solid. We have gone here several times. Food is very consistent. I really enjoy the meatloaf, while my wife loves the Cobb salad. Just went last week and had a great Pork Chop and my daughter had Grandma Sedgwick Spaghetti. Both were delicious and very well done with great flavor. Service is really good and very attentive to help you out. One item that is tricky, parking. Small lot that gets a bit tight when crowded with large SUVs. read more

Ordered a burger well done with lettuce, tomato, cheese and onion. Got a medium rare burger with only cooked onions..So.many slimy onions I had to use a fork to just eat the meat. Closer to 3 1/2 stars this round. Iced tea was good and strong. Tomato bisque was pretty good, a little thick, could have used more broth, but the goat cheese crouton was a nice touch. I added a grilled cheese sandwich. The ciabatta bread was nice and crisp, but the cheese could have used a little kick, just bland. A side of bread and butter pickles or tomato slices would have been nice. Or maybe a sharper cheddar, or maybe just salt...? The beignet dessert was a big let-down...dense, heavy and rock hard. Not a real beignet, but the ice cream was pretty good. Still, I wouldn't get that again.... Watching others' food come out, it all looked good. Burgers were huge, fries, steaks and salmon looked nice, potato chips are home made. We'll try it again and hope we can up their score.... read more

We used to go to the Union all the time because of its great food and service. For some reason it got out of our rotation so we decided to try it again. We never made it to the food as the service was incredibly rude and bad. I ordered a margarita and then asked if I could switch to the double barrel. The server said he had already put the order in and couldn't change it even though it hadn't been made yet. I said that's fine I'll try it. When it arrived I asked would he please get the bartender to add me he floater. You could tell there wasn't one. He said "you really want a floater?" as rudely as possible like I was an idiot. I tried the margarita and sent it back. My wife asked for a Bacardi and Diet Coke. He says we don't carry Bacardi. The owner hates it. Again incredibly rude. She changed to Chardonnay. After talking she reminded me the service was bad although not rude the last time and that's while we hadn't been in a while. We got the check and left. We will never be back. We've never been so rudely treated in our lives. Very sad because the food was normally outstanding. read more

If you're a fan of PURE Taqueria, you'll love The Union Restaurant. A part of Chris Sedgwick's expanding restaurant empire, The Union has a similar look (faux old-time gasoline station), a similar vibe, but a more varied menu. We popped in with friends for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were seated quickly in the center, giving us a great view of the decor (love the walls of wine at the entrance - great idea for storage and gives a bit of separation). I fell in love with a painting of a cow, while hubs loved the Union gasoline sign. In spite of these differences, we have a happy marriage... After sitting, we read the menu and made our decisions quickly. Two of the party got burgers and two got Union's version of sloppy joes...and all four of us got quiet once they arrived. We literally stopped talking so we could eat. Every. Bite. The sloppy joes were outstanding and I'm kinda obsessed with them now, wondering how I can replicate them at home... Of the four, three got the french fries as their side, but I was smart enough to order the chips. Get the chips. Homemade bbq potato chips are NOT something to be passed up lightly. This is a fun, funky restaurant with no pretensions. Prices are good, service was excellent and we all left full and happy. read more

This is a great spot after Rush soccer games which is right around the corner. The quality of the food is awesome! The soups, salads and sandwiches are excellent and affordable. Share a sandwich and they'll split it on two plates along with your side item. The kids meals are full sized and typically enough to eat and take home. The server was pleasant. The food was not so much. I had the chicken schnitzel . It was far from being that. It was a plain pan fried chicken breast, no breading, no seasoning, I was told that this was their version. I could not even eat it. The greens that came on top of it were bitter. I'm not usually one to review any business. In fact, I pretty much never do. The union has been my favorite restaurant since it opened a long time ago. My favorite meal has always been their Club Sandwich. This afternoon, I was hungry and decided to call in a pick up order of my usual meal...the Club Sandwich. The person that I spoke to over the phone was very polite as well as the person I spoke to when I arrived to pay/pick up my order. I get home and eat one half of the club. When I got to my second half, I noticed it had come a little bit undone so I went to readjust the layers. That's when I found a LITERAL RAW PIECE OF BACON within my sandwich. Disgusting. This is a favorite lunch spot for our team at work - partly because it is a short, pleasant drive away from the bustle of Alpharetta. The real reason is a eclectic menu with literally something for everyone. I've been touring the menu over the last couple of months and can strongly endorse the hanger steak, good burger, and tomato soup and grilled cheese combo. Plus, I always order the cheese grits - a perfect blend of cheesy, spicy goodness. Friend like quinoa cakes, and the shrimp and grits (which was too chunked with veggies for my liking). The atmosphere is classic country service station converted to a modern, yet simple interior. Weather permitting, always opt for patio seating. I've yet to see if dinners offers a broader selection, which is hard to imagine. read more

The Union is an institution in Milton. Great little roadside joint with a "roadside atmosphere"./vibe. The food is decent, but not great. The burgers used to be awesome. But for some reason-it's tricky to get them prepared properly. The temp on burgers is far different at lunch than dinner. Like lots of things here. The chicken schnitzel is always crisped - almost burned on edges as it was this evening. Sometimes it goes back to kitchen & sometimes I endure. When it's good it's pretty good. Spotty... Service is usually terrific. All Amazing as the guy the owns the joint is not a very good dude. DON"T sit inside of you would like to have a conversation. VERY noisy. Lots of families - which is great. Just expect it to be loud. The vibe seems to pull it off. But don't go for the food. It's average at best. One of my favorite places ever to eat. Great food and great vibe, it's 60's-70's decor & the staff wears tie dye which I love. Everything I've gotten here is great, I usually ask for some bread & butter for an appetizer & I'll get their chicken Caesar salad, the chicken curry bowl, or any of the pizzas. My family also loves the chicken schnitzel. I wish I had pictures to post but we always eat as soon as they put the plates on the table. Their desserts change around but they're always delicious, the creme brûlée and "coffee & donuts" is fantastic. They can get super busy at times which makes service a little slower but it's 100% worth the wait. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could read more

Unexpected great find...was in the area and quick search yielded The Union. Cool design, great service and the menu is fresh and fun. The 3 of us enjoyed all aspects of the experience and have been back twice more the same week. Living right down the street we always frequent this restaurant for lunch or dinner, it's always been stealer, but TODAY I found my new most FAVORITE dish of all time!!!!! We came from Marietta -- not far, but not around the corner -- but I told my friends that dinner was their pick, and I was amenable to going wherever they chose. To my delight, The Union Restaurant was pretty good. T and Peter awarded their shrimp and grits 4.4 stars. (They take the rating system seriously!) My hamburger was cooked practically right. An iota overdone, but not bad. Linda's meatloaf was deemed 'okay' but looked like a dish your kid's friend's mother might make at a sleep-over -- nothing you'd get in a restaurant. In the restaurant's quest to serve crisp vegetables, Linda complained that her accompanying green beans were practically raw. We sat outside on the patio, which was really pleasant. Particuarly since 'our kinda music' -- rock from the 70's -- was piped in. Oh yes -- and wine! House choice, $5 a glass or $15 a bottle. Bring on the bottle! And it was good! read more

I ordered the tomato soup. I got a bowl , it was a small bowl at that. For $7 I would think it would be a rather big bowl. It did not come with the pine nuts and pesto that it described it would. The soup was tasty for sure, but a disappointment that it wasn't as described. I added it to some soup I had at home and heated it up. read more

So we tried this place for lunch the other day. Small little place, very ecclectic style. You walk into the restaurant and all you can see is a small bar, a bunch of wine bottles, and an open kitchen with flames leaping and all sorts of interesting things cooking. It's a casual style restaurant and I felt comfortable there. We decided to have a light lunch, so we decided to try their appetizer of fried calamari, shrimp, and clams. The calamari was a bit tough, a slight chewiness to it, but it wasn't bad and it infact grew on me as I continued to eat. I actually ate the clams! Shocking I know, but you really couldn't tell what you were eating. The shrimp was quite good, but there were very few of them. All in all, it was an ok dish but a bit pricey for what you actually got. I got the tomato bisque and it was pretty good. It had a heat to it that didn't burn your tongue but hit you in the back of the throat. It was interesting in a good way. The flavor was great, as was the texture. The bread was slightly toasted and was smeared with goat cheese. It really complimented the dish. I would totally order this again. Light and yummy. However it was pretty small. Was unimpressed by the size. Justin ordered the grilled salmon sandwich, which was an open faced sandwich with arugula, tomatoes, bacon and a cream sauce. They actually asked him how he prefered his salmon cooked which was cool. American restaurants seem to always over cook fish. He was able to give his preference, and he enjoyed the sandwich. He said it was light and flavorful, and that the tomatoes were really quite good. I nibbled some of his fries and I agree with him that they were very tasty and had a nice crisp to them. All in all a nice restaurant, but pricey. As we were there for lunch, and I believe the prices will be higher for the dinner menu, which I think is over the top. Even so, they had a number of menu options that sounded quite good, and the atmosphere was nice. Not sure if we will be back. read more

We recently moved to Milton and a local recommended this place. It has been a consistent watering hole for us because of its great food and wonderful service. I think they have the best cheeseburger in Fulton County. They make homemade chips and french fries along with a tempting array of salads and appetizers. we have never had a bad meal here ....The Steak Frites is a must, juicy, tender, served with a fresh arugula salad...awesome! I came here while visiting friends in Alpharetta and was a little disappointed. The service was OK, not very attentive, and not very experienced. The house wine is only $5 and I had the Chardonnay which was pretty good. I ordered the chicken gnocchi and it started out fine. Then I started to notice a few dark gray/purplish pieces of meat. It looked a bit like fish....some sort of mystery meat. I asked the server about it and he said it was probably just their dark chicken meat. Came here on a Friday night at about 7:30pm. Nice casual atmosphere and a musician was just setting up. Patio looked nice but there were no seats so we sat inside. Service was good, food was very good too. Started with a bottle of Merlot ($25) and the Grilled Pimento Cheese Sandwiches w/ a side of hummus ($7)- very good. My entree was the special - seared grouper on top of a butternut squash/spinach risotto and arugala salad ($22) - VERY good. My friend had the shrimp and grits-unique flavor profile but good as well. Dessert was the Blueberry Crisp ($7) fresh out of the oven...delicious! I'm definitely coming back again if only to sit at the bar and listen to the the musician, who by the way was VERY good. If I had to have a negative I'd say the hostess stand was a bit too slow in servicing people as they came in and the owner/manager just stood in the kitchen looking oblivious to it. And with it being a small restaurant the musician was bit too loud and my friend and I struggled to hear each other. Overall though I liked it! read more
