We were visiting bishop, after a long day of fishing my husband and I were starving. We stopped into this place and there's a sign that says "wait to be seated" so we waited and waited, the staff would look at us and pretend like they didn't see us. There was all of maybe 4 tables in there already so it wasn't busy at all. Finally someone came over we asked if they were closing soon she said no so we got sat. After a while no one came to greet us so we left, I'm sure they were happy they didn't have to take another table. This traditional style pizza is near perfect! The crust has crunch, chew and flavor! The sauce is as good or better than any of the highly rated places I've been to in NYC, LA, or anywhere else (consider requesting extra). The cheese is good & ample, and the meatball topping was excellent! The long time manager is excellent at customer service! The only flaw this time is they left too much of the outter crust without any sauce, cheese, or topping. So next time I'm going to respectfully request for that adjustment. Driving through Bishop on the way to Tahoe. Been to a few restaurants in the area but wanted to try something new. Ordered the White Pizza, garlic butter fettuccine and a meat lovers pizza. We were pretty disappointed with the food. I ordered the BBQ wings, and antipasto salad. The wings tasted like those breaded frozen wings and drenched in sauce. The antipasto salad was very plain and the dressing tasted like Kraft. Thumbs down for sure. My kids aren't too picky when I comes to spaghetti, but they didn't like this one! If the name of The Upper Crust Pizza isn't obvious enough, then heed my warning! Stick to the pizza and avoid the other items on the menu which aren't circular and dough based! The most accurate description of the seafood bisque is that it tastes like Chef Boyardee. The consistency and taste are spot on! In fact, if were actually a real Chef Boyardee, he would probably be proud of this as they managed to take his secret recipe and upscale it with random seafood and imitation crab. Something was also off on the chicken marsala. It wasn't the large pieces of chicken breast I was expecting but rather small cut up chicken mixed in with pasta. The marsala sauce did have a hint of the wine flavor but was a little watered down for my taste. As for the pizza, it was pretty much spot on. The crust isn't as thin as a New York style but the dough was soft in the middle and crispy on the outside without being overly greasy. My family and I are visiting bishop for a camping trip and didn't feel like cooking tonight.. called and placed my order around 7pm. They said 30 to 40 minutes. I waited about 35 minutes to go in. The girl at the front couldn't find my food. Eventually she found my ticket and she was on her way in to the cooks to put the order in when I asked her if it was ever actually put in. Her answer was, "no, somebody put your ticket right here." I asked "so are you just putting that in now?" Her answer was yes. I asked how long. She answers with 25 to 30 minutes. I said "ok I don't think I have the time to wait anymore.." (considering I have hungry kids and a husband expecting me soon). Her answer is "ok" and shrugs, and crumbles up my ticket. So have no review on their food but their customer service sucked! No apology or anything.. I called to talk to a manager to just explain how crappy their service was and he defended her saying, " well she was going to put your order in, so that showed that she cared." Lol Basically, it sounds like the food might be good, but glad I ended up at Little Cesar's (thought they'd have hot & ready, they didn't, but at least their customer service was good) and spent $20 rather than the $50 I would have on a business with crappy service. This is the best pizza in town. The ambience of the restaurant is just okay - they've tried, and have some neat colors and Tuscan decor, but I think maybe it's too small and bright to feel like a nicer restaurant. But the FOOD is GREAT - and... they do delivery. So while we rarely eat there in person, we often order take out or delivery. I especially love their olive oil pizzas - the Mount Tom is our favorite, with sausage and jalapenos - YUM!! They are probably a bit more expensive than the other pizza in town, but their crust really is better, and their pizzas aren't dripping in grease like some! They are beyond "not awful" though - they are actively good. The down side is, if they weren't in town, I'd have an easier time losing weight. So, 3 stars for eating in (although the service is fine and friendly - it's just not quite working as a cozy restaurant, so just okay), 5 stars for the food itself, and that averages to a 4 star rating! read more

Ordered a large pizza with Italian sausage, artichoke, spinach and onions. It took a long time to make - we were told due to the large amount (4!) of toppings. After around 40 min we finally got the pizza. It tasted good, but lacked the appropriate amount of spinach you would expect to get for paying $1 extra. I counted no more than 15 small pieces of spinach leaves. Disappointing. Out front, it appeared that the restaurant was doing a great job of staying COVID compliant; cashiers wearing masks, plastic draped behind the register, sanitizing table at pick-up window and guests waiting to order all social distancing. THEN,...I look through the door and see the people in the kitchen, making the food, have no masks on! When I told the older lady working the register, "The people in the kitchen need to have masks on," she curtly replied "So, are you picking up your food?". The best pizza in Bishop, although probably not the best pizza I've ever had. The service isn't top notch, and the place is never full, its a slow kind of environment here. The desserts likely come from Smart and Final next door, can't say I've ever tried them though, this is just what the display in the front leads me to believe. The salad here is by far the BEST I've ever had. Can't say why, it's pretty simple. You'd think tthat its hard to make a salad fantastic or something to rave about, but somehow they've managed to do it. I think it may be the dressing, I always get the ranch, and it's always amazing. I'm not typically a "ranch" person, but here I have to do it. Their pasta dishes are alright, but nothing stellar. Still, if you're in the mood for a good pasta dish you won't go wrong here. The sandwiches are not bad, but nothing you couldn't get at any other restaurant... Overall, I'd have to say because of the lack of other italian and superb pizza places in town, this is the best. We decided to take the scenic route back to LA from Tahoe. After some reviews we decided on this place. The pizza was great. It reminds me of a pie from the east coast. Heavy toppings with a crisp crust but not to thin. They even had a gluten free menu on the option. There were a few other Pizza spots that Yelp recommended in the area but very glad I chose this one.
