I will never use UPS again. I went to this location to ship items valued at $800. I asked several times that the declared value of the package be set to this amount. There was a long line, and the two employees (high schoolers) seemed flustered by it. I think the kid who was helping me was distracted and forgot to add the declared value. A week later, the items that were supposed to be delivered never made it to the recipient, and the package was nowhere to be found. I suppose I should have triple checked the declared value before leaving, but I've never had this issue with USPS, FedEx, or DHS before because it's such a straightforward service. Didn't realize until making a claim for the lost package that the declared value was never added to my shipment. Tried calling the store location several times to find out what happened or what my options were, and the manager was never there. After this experience, this UPS Store (and UPS in general) gets a hard pass from me. read more

I have used the UPS store owned by the charming Ava for many years. She always provides friendly, courteous and efficient service. 11 days before Christmas I took a package that contained gifts for my dear sister in NJ. The woman there (Ava not in yet) said there was a chance delivery may not be in time for Christmas. I emailed Ava and she did her magic! She contacted the UPS depot here and had my package handled specially. She sent me updates as my package crossed the country. My package was delivered the morning of 12/22! I just tried to drop off a package at 10AM sign says open at 8:30 but shop is all locked up and there is a pile of packages that someone just left on the sidewalk in front of the store. Usually love this spot :-( The young girls and guys at the counter durning the day are so sweet and chatty! Verrry helpful. I'm usually sending back my school textbooks (i rent online) so i am there quite a bit. Tonight i had a box to send....... I go in. Smile at the older woman behind the counter. Get ignored by the kid at the counter, eventually he helped me. Tell him i need to send out the box, have my label, and just needed a piece of tape to close it. Mind you this is NOT A BIG BOX. He looks immediately IRRITATED? He pauses and asks if i want to buy a roll of packing tape so that i can have it at home for next time. I said no thanks. THEN he lectures me about how next time i should have everything prepared, and that he will tape it for me THIS time, yada, yada, yada....... Prepared?!?!? i had everything i needed? i needed a piece of tape, you know that stuff you keep ready on the counter for people to tape stuff with?!?!? Mind you there is NO ONE IN THE STORE. i can understand if you are in a rush or busy? it is 6:30 on a thursday? I have gone in there many times, once with a box and they OFFERED to tape it for me. This kid was being ridiculous.... After his long (and boring) lecture I just stared at him shocked/amused/kinda pissed. He felt awkward and i left. I had the most amazing UPS experience recently this store. My fiance's job was moving to London, and we had to expedite my visa application with 2-day international service. Ava, who I believe might be the manager or assistant manager at this particular UPS store, was absolutely the epitome of excellent customer service. Between sending it and needing it returned as well, it was complicated. But she spent 45 minutes with us, making sure it was perfect and would get to where it needed to go, as well as getting back safely. She alone has made me a lifelong customer of UPS. Poor customer service. Second time we have encountered false information provided by their staff. Both times we called ahead and inquired about the hours of availability of their notary services, both times when we arrive within the quoted times we are told "sorry" the notary has left for the day. Don't lie to your customers its not good for business. read more

The courteous, warm and efficient service given at this UPS store is amazing. Ava goes out of her way to helpeach customer. She looks you in the eye when she is talking to you and makes you feel that your needs are the most important. As you watch her, you know that everyone is treated with that same specialness. Eh, awkward... To the older woman with the short dark brown hair I've been relaying what confrontation I had yesterday over and over. I was at the UPS store here in Alameda and the woman who handled my package was quite rude. I was mailing my 3DS to Japan, and of course I removed my lithium battery because it is illegal to mail lithium to Japan without another approval. We get ready to ship my package and her cell phone rings, she excuses herself and talks on the phone. As she was trying to help me she was also still on the phone having a conversation claiming it was her international manager. She asked me "where's your package going?" I said, "Japan". She handed me the forums and I filled it out. She then proceeded to ask me "what's in your package" and I said "an electronic device, I have already removed the lithium battery". She began to get upset because I wouldn't tell her EXACTLY what was in my package. I asked her "I'm sorry, I don't think I should have to tell you what's exactly in my package, it is my package I do believe I have the right to stay personal with it. Now I understand you may need to know details for the package, yet I don't think you need to know exactly what it is", *note: she isn't a manager of the store just an employee doing her job*. She then ripped my package open with huge agitation and told me "well if you don't want to tell me you can take your package else where". I noticed she was being super aggressive with my package so I took it from her and told her "don't worry I'll take my package but your not going to waste paper things that should be recycled". I asked her "why do I have to go to a different store?" And she wouldn't answer me. I paid cash for the product and left it on the counter and she chased me out the store saying "it's $5.86", I turn to her and said "there's $6 on the counter". She told me "Your 86! Don't come back here again!" And of course under my breath I say "you can't 86 someone when your not the manager!" .... anyways I'm still trying to figure out why she's upset a day later ... and yes I went to the UPS office to mail my package (else where) read more

i recently just dropped off a amazon return and the man behind the counter (An Older Asian Gentleman) was just plain rude to me, I gave him the qr code and zoomed in to scan and he just gave me an attitude about how i didn't need to zoom in, he scanned it and I left, hesitated a bit to see if he would ask if i wanted a receipt, but the other staff were polite, one asked me to come to his counter and asked me if it was an amazon return and he redirected me to another counter. read more

The reason I went to this location was mainly because of the hours. They are open later than most other locations nearby. In addition, they went above and beyond the call of duty with my comcast return. I wish I lived closer but I will definately return to them when I need a ups store again. read more

These fine people lost my wife's wedding dress. In all the weeks we spent trying to track it down--through both them and UPS corporate--they never once returned a call. Others have complained about late openings, slow or rude employees, etc., and those are all valid reasons to go elsewhere, but just to repeat: they lost my wife's wedding dress. I have shipped a box which never arrived. Months and months of emails, calls, filing insurance claim and 11 months later still nothing - yes I have been patient. Ava is very nice on the phone but every time a good reason not to provide the insurance check. Emails and calls not returned, every time I have to go there in person to get an update. STAY AWAY!!!!! Paid $73.00 to ship a package East Coast on 4/10/2012 and still has not yet arrived!!!!! Was never given a tracking number when they said they would provide and manager Ava has ignored my emails and calls several times after requesting status. When I did speak to the manager Ava, she still has no idea where package is, has providied no information from USPS, and tells me it will take 30 days to process a claim! Was told by employee that it would only take about a week to send from their store to East Coast and it has never arrived after almost a month!!!!!Asked several employees to have her call me back, but ignored and have to try to call her to get in contact!!!!! read more

I had done notary for a document and shipped it to India. The lady at the counter (I think her name is Larizza) said she would send me the tracking number the next day to my email ID. I waited for a week and still didn't get any email from them. When I called them to inquire after a week, they informed that they would check and call me back. I didn't get a call from them and the document still didn't reach its destination. Very bad service. read more

My review is based on the more than THREE months it took for a package I mailed to arrive. I mailed 3 packages on December 17th, 2013, 2 domestic and one to France. Now I knew the international one would not arrive in time for Christmas, but I was quoted an approximate 2 week time frame. I paid $125 for all 3 packages, $75 of it for the France package. I kept checking the tracking number they gave me, and it always said that it was sitting in L.A. In mid January, when the package still had not arrived, I called to speak with Ava. She told me to give it a few more weeks. At the beginning of February I checked my tracking number again and it said it was an invalid number. I called her again to find out what was going on and she told me the package had made it to France, but been sent back by customs because it had food in it. There was NO food in the package. There was SOAP, but for some reason the customs form said SOUP. So it got sent back to San Francisco. She sent it back again, and gave me a new tracking number. This one said the destination was Belize! So another incorrect tracking number. Initially the manager Ava was very helpful. But after this 2nd wrong tracking number and my package supposedly heading to Belize she stopped taking my calls. As many, many, many other reviews have said. I would call 3-4 times a week, leave messages with either Michael or Brittany who said they were giving her the messages. They always told me she wasn't there. I wish I could have a job that I NEVER showed up for. I asked for the owners name and they refused to give it to me. I left my name and number for the owner to call me and he/she never did. After weeks of being ignored and 2 1/2 months passed, I got fed up. I called UPSstore corporate and told them that I had paid $75 and waited 3 months and the 'manager' was refusing to take my calls. Corporate called the store and astonishingly Ava was there. Funny since she 'wasn't in' when *I* called 10 minutes before. Suddenly she is calling me twice a day, calling France, calling the recipient making a massive effort to track down the package. She even, REALLY inappropriately texted me at 1:30 in the freaking morning!!!! Finally the package was delivered on January 22nd, more than 3 months after it was mailed. I am giving 1 star because I have to, and because after I called corporate she suddenly worked hard to find my package. But I would never ever recommend this store unless you feel like spending hours on the phone getting a run around and ignored. read more

Very disappointed in this UPS location. I made three attempts to get two documents laminated and was unsuccessful all three times. The first time I went there, I was told by a girl who looked 14 that the laminating machine was broken and wouldn't be fixed till the following Monday. The second time I went in on the following Monday and the same girl told me that it wasn't fixed yet. The third time I went there I waited for 15 minutes in the parking lot after they were SUPPOSED to be OPEN and no one ever showed up. That was the last straw! I usually hate using these stores, because the whole place feels like it's moving in molasses and the staff is so indifferent, but the 4 or so times that I've been to this particular UPS, I've had the fortune to have the help of Brittany. She's just very pleasant and patient and efficient, and has gone out of her way to help me organize packages and get them where they're going for the best price possible. I guess I've been lucky, too, as my packages have always gotten to the right place. read more

We needed a notary and called to see if they have one at the Blanding store. We were assured that they do, indeed, have a notary. So we called the next day to see if the notary was on site. The phone rang and rang and rang and rang. It was almost as if the phone was taken off the hook! Then we find out after two days of trying to contact this UPS store (it's the closest one with a notary to our business which is why we kept trying) that the notary is only there for a few minutes each day! Thanks for letting us know the on the first call. We wouldn't have wasted two days. We would have gone to the UPS on Franklin St. in Oakland, which is what we did. Their notary works all day and we can stop in anytime we need a notary and the charge is only $10. Gee, Blanding UPS, why have a notary if they are never there? read more

Been going here regularly for about 2 years and I've never had a problem. I got my passport renewed through them. When the government lost the application, Ava was all over them. She fixed it even though it was their error. I send and receive regularly from the store. They have never lost anything, unlike Mail Boxes Plus who lost a package in their store, told me to file a claim with UPS even though the owner had signed for the package. A week later, they found the package in the packing peanut bin..her kids were playing with it! That's when I went to Ava at UPS. I've had nothing but great experiences. I've been a customer of this UPS Store for about 5 years. I have consistently found them to provide outstanding service. I do see there are some 1 star reviews and I haven't read them, but I would say that the people at this UPS Store take complete care of the customer in front of them. When I see a long line, I generally leave and come back another time. Other than not being able to take care of 6 customers at once, I cannot find fault with this business. They know who I am, are always polite, and always try to go the extra step to make sure I am satisfied. I've moved away from the area for a while and left them with special instructions, always handled correctly. I've asked for special care for sensitive packages, always taken care of. Today, I was anxious to receive a particular piece of mail, and as no other customer was in front of me, Brittany quickly and cheerfully grabbed the remaining days mail and sorted through it until she found my particular piece of mail. I appreciate that level of pleasant and efficient service. I'll be a customer for a long time going forward. read more

On 2017.09.26 I shipped two keys to my wife in another state. They were needed overnight, but UPS wanted $80+ to do that, so we made do with two-day delivery for the also exorbitant $40+. I knew I was being robbed but had no time to get to an alternative shipper. I asked for email receipt, which did not arrive while I was in the store; girl at the counter said I would "most likely" get it pretty soon. "Most likely"? I never got it. Nine days later, the package has not been delivered. I went back to this location on 2017.10.03 and told disinterested-looking girl that we needed both our money and our keys back. She took my info (I wrote all details, with the word URGENT!!!) and she said someone would call me back, which they did not. Yesterday my wife tried UPS's 800 number. They said UPS had decided no one was at the address, and decided not to deliver it. They said they would relent and deliver it by tomorrow (we'll see), and that the Blanding UPS Store would contact us within one hour regarding our refund, which they did not. I just disputed the charge with my credit card company, because UPS Store will apparently do nothing to help. Update: Next day. My wife called Blanding UPS Store again, but they say to call back at 4 when the manager is in. Right. UPDATE ONE WEEK LATER: Given complete runaround. Apathetic staff said that the manager will deal with it, but the manager never calls back, and we can call or come in to talk to the manager, but that the manager only comes in when s/he feels like it and they cannot predict when this person would be there. Got the money back from the credit card company. Do not let these people get hold of your credit card number. read more

No wonder this store is losing money. These people have no clue about customer service. Yesterday I called to get preliminary information about renting a mailbox. The woman who answered was quite specific about ONE (the word does not sound like "two") piece of received mail from current place of residence. ONE, not "two." Came in to day, presenting one piece. She suddenly said I needed TWO. When I pointed out (as I had several times earlier) that I receive almost no mail at my residence, AND that yesterday her story was quite different, she basically called me a liar. (Way to treat the customer and completely turn the customer OFF.) In fact, she was the one clearly lying. The other person behind the counter was clearly a trainee, and everything I asked either one of them seemed like such a bother when I WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER IN THE STORE. Since they made it clear that they were completely uninterested in my business, I immediately left and went to a different UPS store, which treated me 180 degrees differently. I immediately had my needs met even though about 6 other customers also came and went during that time frame. Do not rent mailboxes from the Alameda store. They're terrible examples of how to run a business. read more
