$1 per page not per scanned document! So I had 50 pages to be scanned. The guy says "$1 per scan, $2 if double sided." So I ask him, "so 2 dollars for this," pointing to my stack. "Correct, $2 per scan, double sided," he says. Then he rings me up for $100. Took the machine about 20 seconds. It's a fancy, expensive machine, sure, but that was ridiculous. He came down by half, and of course it was still a rip off. This place lost a customer for good (me). I was in the area and stopped by for convenience to copy some music onto cardstock. The place is poorly stocked so they didn't have the usual ivory color but I decided to go with a textured beige instead. The attendant did not know how to combine multiple PDFs into one file as a batch print so every file had to be sent to the printer separately, wasting time. When done, there was no count of the pages! I just about flipped when he told me that 65 pages were going to cost $41! That's about 56c/page! Today I went to my usual place (starts with F and ends with X) and copied one more score of 17 pages for $2.41 So, this crazy UPS store cost was approximately 4.5x more expensive, along with mediocre customer service and poor stock of paper. This UPS location has always been courteous, professional and patient with me. (I've used them dozens of times over the last 10 years, including multiple times for notary service.) Further, I've periodically/randomly used other UPS locations in Oakland and other states and don't find the prices here to be even remotely out-of-line, either. Staffs are friendly. I got my receipt everytime i dropped of my packages. Shipped a big package and she got me a great deal for $18 only. Don't know gow to calculate, but about the same size box was charged $30 one time, must be different location costs more. Fast service. Boxes are expensive here, so try to pack it before you ship, otherwise you will be upset paying $10- $18 for a box as shipping material. read more

I wish I could give less than one. They will tell you the notary is there when they are not. As a working mom of two, standing around waiting for a notary for a half hour, or having to find another location after driving there, is a huge hassle. I have had items just disappear when shipped from here - once they told me to leave my USPS package...no problem. And yet it vanished. It was a return to Amazon, so I never got credit for it. Most recently, I dropped off a prepaid UPS package and it took TWO DAYS to get scanned and sent out. They're never friendly, seem annoyed when you drop something off that's prepaid, and just don't seem to want my business. It's the only nearby option for my business, but I'm actively seeking another source just so I can at least get a smile and a hello when I drop something off..and I can be assured my package will be sent out in a timely manner. read more

I will never return to this location! I recently sent a package overnight to Los Angeles with some very important notarized documents with a guaranteed delivery of 10:30 AM next day. When the package was an hour late. I called and was completely brushed off by them and told to check the tracking # online. By the way they never asked for an email address, so that I would get updates. Three hours later I asked for their assistance again in tracking it down...brushed off again. Four hours later they said they would look into and call me back...NO CALL BACK. Five hours later, I called and they told me I had to call UPS myself. They repeatedly told me that it's not their problem, but mine and gave me an 800 NUMBER to call. REALLY I JUST PAID $60 dollars for GUARANTEED DELIVERY. UPS Center was more helpful and as I write this, my daughter is stranded in Los Angles without an apartment to move into. Movers had to be canceled with a cancellation fee. This is the worst UPS store in the area, perhaps in the entire country. I use the services frequently, and when I go away I often ship things to my destination and then back again. This store changed ownership or management a couple of years ago. The manager is rude, abrupt, employs poor souls who she mistreats and who don't know much about the services. (Young woman on side with copiers who did not know what "collate" meant") I also frequently use the drop-off service to return pre-paid packages via UPS. Most places will tape them for free or will charge a dollar for tape. This place will only sell you the tape or will charge you $16 to tape the top of a box, as if you were bringing in a large unwrapped parcel and having them prepare the shipping from scratch. I went in there recently with 2 items for which I was paying for shipping to the tune of $50, and she begrudged me the tape to put on the top of a box for a return to Zappo's. Twice she pointed to a wall of tape for sale. Pointed like you might point to a dog who has misbehaved. I have used the UPS stores in Moraga, Pleasant Hill, Marin, Piedmont Ave, Salisbury NC, Puerto Rico, upstate NY etc etc. This place is a degrading nightmare. I think I even prefer the one on Alcatraz Ave where the guy forgot to remove the old label and the package happily returned to my own house a few days later. read more

Montclair UPS is the best in the Bay Area! I've been a customer there for over 20 yrs. I have my mailbox service there, you can mail packages by their UPS or by United Postal Service. They have a wonderful copy center that's really affordable. They have excellent customer service with an amazing staff. They also have birthday cards and other cards, wrapping paper and gift bags, pens & even stickers for your kids. The owner is very professional and nice and they have a wonderful business at your convenience. My mail is always there, packages kept for me until I pick them up and the staff always greets you with a smile. Horrid! Mail not being delivered, being sent back undeliverable. 2nd month in a row! Called to inquire why?..when she knew it was a complaint she started talking in a foreign language and told me to call back when someone could speak english and hung up on me. So I drove to office. When there she and the other Person, Aman Kur and Sabin Paz were mocking me and grinning so I said do you think this is funny she said, Aman Kaur, "no, well actually yes!". I then proceeded to ask for the managers or owners information so I could file a complaint. They refused to give it. It excalated from there. Needless to say I left with no information or resolution. i should have paid attention to the 1.5 star review before coming here but i was running errands in the neighborhood and thought really ? could it be that bad. it IS ! i arrived with a pre-labeled package. somehow the ink on my label had rubbed off in my bag. the woman at the counter (who i think was sick since she was sniffling and i was prepared to be nice to her) said she couldn't scan it and i'd have to print it again. i asked - can you scan the barcode from my phone. she barked no ! the driver has to scan it too. ok. can i print a label here ? you can use the computer across the hall for a fee. ok. what do you think it will cost ? i don't know the other lady will help you the other lady mumbled. took me across the hall. i took 2 minutes to log into my amazon acct and print a return receipt. i saw a sign that said 25cents for a print and $5 for 15 minutes of computer use. i thought ok cool. they will probably just charge me for the print ? walked back to the other side. told $2.28. what ? so i handed her $3 and she barked no. $3.28. WHAT ?? i said really ? for 2 minutes or less of computer time and a print out ? no wonder you have horrible yelp reviews. so i get my receipt and it says $3 minimum for computer use. would have been nice if you actually TOLD me that. especially when i asked twice what the cost might be ?? horrible customer service. avoid this place at all costs ! read more

This is one of my favorite UPS store. The ladies in the counter have always been very polite to me. There are times when I do have to wait because of a person with a more detailed transaction but most of the time it's faster than the Usps. Roma is my favorite person who works there. She always greets me with a big smile and gives doggie treats to my pup. There is a parking lot to make it more convenient to drop off your packages. read more

A little coda to my old review. Against my better judgment, I returned to this wretched location because a) it was close by, and b) all I had to do was drop off a UPS package that already had the label and, well, how hard can that be? Once inside, I was going to hand over the box to the clerk when I noticed that a corner of the package wasn't entirely shut, so I reached for the tape dispenser. "We charge extra for that!", snapped the woman behind the counter. I explained that I didn't need to take tape for the entire package, just an inch of tape to tamp down the corner. She once again snapped that the 'tape charge' would need to be paid. Keep in mind, this isnt industrial-strength duct tape or anything, we're talking garden variety transparent Scotch tape. Aye, I know I'm a glutton for punishment after my last experience. I find it oddly amusing that the goblins who run this place are so short-sighted that they try to turn tiny things - like an extra inch of tape! - into extra profit centers, thereby alienating would-be customers. They may want to think of (gasp!) considering such items part of the variable costs that ensure a pleasant customer experience and thus support their business over time. read more

I placed a call, then emailed a pic with an order to print 12 copies of our team's photo in 8.5x11 glossy. I was expecting to pay about $50. On the phone he said $22. Great. I show right on time as expected an hour later, and the prints are just finalized and still warm. The manager of his own initiative found a discount sale coupon for me, and it only ended up costing $12 for everything. The guy was very calm, very responsive, and made my day. Worst store and worst service ever. The Indian owner is amazingly rude and incompetent. I spent $77 to overnight a birthday gift to a girlfriend. She didn't get it for three days. I thought well, bummer, but it could happen. Spent $109 to overnight very important documents to my office. They were supposed to receive them by 10 am and didn't. They didn't receive them at all that day. Ran a check on the package the next day. It was still in the UPS store. Called to find out what was going on. The owner told me he had a line and couldn't talk to me on the phone. If I wanted to talk to him I would have to come to his store and get in line. What a dick. Worst store ever. This is to add on to my wife's review of 2/8/14. We attempted on that day to make contact with someone that could help us at the UPS store and were told that we would receive a call back from the manager/owner, as the guy with the accent who helped us said he was not authorized to help us. Well today (2/14) I called back to the store asking to speak to the manager, and was told he is not in town and that he will not be back in town till next week. I asked that he give me a call back, and the woman on the phone was insistent that I tell her what the problem was. As we had the previous interaction with the (I want to say Aussie or NZer), I did not feel comfortable telling her, I was insistent on speaking with a manager/owner. She proceeded to argue with me, elevating her voice, that she wanted to handle the situation - and informed me that she was not a manager. I cannot fathom how a place like this would not have an easy way of allowing a customer to speak with a manager or owner. After already being told that a worker was not authorized to fix a wrong, and do the right thing. I had no faith in anyone in that store. If it were possible to give 0 stars, I would. I had a mailbox here for a while, and the staff never seemed happy, and always gave attitude and hid behind "rules" I've used UPS stores before for my business mailing, and this was the worst. The lock on my box didn't work for the first two weeks, and no compensation was offered, even after I asked. I finally was fed up with this place and closed my account. I tried to get mail forwarding, but the USPS does not forward mail from Business to Business. So I went in asking to set up mail forwarding. She said that I had to have a box open to forward mail. Why would I pay for a box here just to forward my mail to another box I am paying for? There is no customer service here! USE THIS STORE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Here's my story. Left off a package on Friday at 1:12 pm. VERY important that it be delivered in NY on Monday, at 9:30 am. I paid $99.56 for next day air early a.m. The package didn't arrive. I called UPS, which told me it had no record of the package. I called the store, which said they'd given it to the driver on Friday. That evening I checked the tracking website. It said that the order had been processed AT THE STORE at 8:30 pm on Friday--long after the UPS pickup. In fact, it was not given to UPS until Monday at 5:36 pm--i.e. the usual pickup time, but on Monday, not on Friday. I checked with UPS and was told that, indeed, it had not received the package until Monday at 5:36 pm. In other words, the people at the store had lied to me. I called the store to get some kind of explanation. I spoke to Heather, who said that the store sent it on Friday, and the driver had signed for it. This made no sense at all. When I tried to get her to explain the contrary information on the UPS tracking site, she hung up on me. I called back and Heather answered again. I asked to speak to a manager and she put me on permanent hold. It's obvious that the store screwed up and didn't in fact give the package to UPS until Monday at 5:36 pm. UPS then screwed up and a plane was delayed again. But that's another matter. The store screwed up, then lied to me, then hung up on me when I tried to get an explanation. Am honest business would have owned up to the mistake and asked my forgiveness, which I would have given them. A slimy business would act the way this store did. I paid for 3 pages to be faxed only to be given a receipt of "busy/not answered." I requested a refund for a fax that was never sent only to be told simply "NO" by the customer service rep. To pay for a fax that is never received by the recipient is straight out THEFT. I want my $6 back. And to top it off, the customer service rep would not give me the manager's contact info. Beware, this is a franchise, and UPS is not interested in hearing about or solving any problems you may have with them. If you do want to drop off a prepaid return here, I would insist on getting a receipt from them before you leave the store. I dropped off 3 different amazon returns to this store, on two different dates this week. Two of them made it into the UPS system, and one did not. I set it down right in front of the woman at the counter, who did not stopping reading her phone but answered yes when I asked if this is where I should leave it. It never got scanned into the system, either by her or by the UPS driver who picked up packages. I spoke to the same woman today and she told me she has no idea what happened to it but it wasn't at the store and told me to call UPS. After two painfully long conversations with UPS, the UPS manager told me there was nothing they could do, nor were they responsible for any action or inaction on the part of their franchises. I've been to this location quite a bit for shipping and notary services. I've never had a problem. It can often be crowded with just a few customers because it's a smaller location. But, the people who run it have always been very polite and kind and worked hard to multitask to help customers as quickly as possible. I'd recommend this branch with the understanding that it is a smaller, limited capacity location. If they could expand the shipping department to both sides of the location, they could be better off to expedite shipping services, which seems to be the main part of the business. read more
