I went here to get 11 pages scanned, I had seen the reviews but I figured even with poor customer service it couldn't be that bad. There was the terrible customer service as expected, with one guy who was supposed to help me but kept leaving for no reason, and another woman who didn't seem to know how to work the computer. It still wouldn't have been that bad except when I was scanning the guy told me there would be a $3 fee for using the computer to transfer to a USB drive. What he then failed to mention was that the scans also cost $1 per page, even though this costs them absolutely nothing to do. On top of that he insisted on charging me for 16 pages even though I only had 11 and told him repeatedly, so it basically ended up costing me over $20 to scan 11 pages. I can't imagine any reputable print shop would charge more than $5 for doing this, and even that seems like a lot. Absolutely do not come here unless you have no other options and are running low on time, terrible service that costs way more than it should. read more

The people at this store are liars! I paid for a 2-day delivery. When it did not arrive as promised, they claimed that they tell everyone there are no guarantees due to pandemic. Well, I've paid for many 2-day packages which arrived and they NEVER once told me it wasn't guaranteed, only when one of them didn't arrive on time did they make this claim. It is no wonder this place receives such bad ratings. I was absolutely disappointed with the service I received. I was turning in my UVerse cable boxes, and I had got to the store 10 minutes before closing time. The young lady closing that day was helping another woman at the time, and she proceeded to ask me what I needed help with. Then she asks me to hang on a moment while she finishes up with the other woman. I wait patiently, and finally she was ready to help me. She asked for my AT&T account#, which I did not know I needed to have when returning the boxes. At this time it was 5:58pm, and I said to her ill have to call to find out that information from my sister. I get off the phone at 5:59pm and she says to me "can you hurry, we're closing". That already did not sit well with me, being that I am in customer service myself. I was staring at my phone, waiting for a text from my sister, and as soon as the clock reads 6:00pm, she says to me "we're closed. I need to catch the bus". I looked at her, at first I didn't understand her. and she said "my bus is coming, i need to catch the bus." another woman walks in, and asks "what's wrong" and the young lady responds by saying "she doesn't have her account#". The other woman said to me "Oh yea, we can't do it. and we're closed. But we can do it tomorrow." I just wanted to get out of there. and I most definitely will NOT be returning. My concern is if she were in the middle of helping someone, and the clock hits 6pm, will she stop helping because it was time to close? If you need to make a stop at a UPS store, avoid this one for all reasons. read more

Surly on the phone, surly in person. I should've known. While helping me with fingerprinting, the employee was extremely indifferent and impolite. Didn't smile, was extremely blasé and didn't acknowledge customers who came in after me. I could tell the other customers were frustrated and eventually left. How hard is it to say, "I'll be right with you. Thanks for waiting." I eventually left, too. If you have to go there and interact with someone that works there, go somewhere else; if you're autonomous and don't need help, lower you expectations and enter at your own risk. read more

If you want poor service, with an attitude, this is your place. Recently went in with a prepaid return and they refused to scan the QR code. They said they never saw that before... I asked them to scan it and they refused. I went to another UPS store and they immediately helped me, scanned the code, and processed my return. While it was an unusual QR code they were determined to help. The montclair location was rude and belligerent. We will never ever go back. The service is perfunctory. No 'hello'; no greeting. I had to play twenty questions to get the most economical way to send my package.

I went into this store to notarize paperwork. The owner acted as if I owe her something, ruffled and bent through the paperwork, and asked what type of notary I wanted. She didn't even allow me to properly ink my thumb for the fingerprint. Once I signed, she told her worker to ring me up, giggled and told her she was leaving. 1) DONNOT bend my paperwork. 2) There are plenty of businesses that notarizes that treats their customers with respect. 3) I don't appreciate the rude attitude. 4) It's YOUR job to properly identify the type of notarization 5) Your time is as equally important as my time. I give her zero star for poor service and rudeness and one star for parking availability. read more

If you ever just need to get that pesky smile wiped clean off of your face, look no further than this living hell-hole. It's the perfect place for gouging you of your money in packing and shipping costs and personally treating you like garbage. ALSO - and this is my favorite part - they sit on your package for like a day or two after they've charged you for 2-day service. I've never performed self-immolation but I think it would feel something like walking into this store. I must mention that even though they have this ceiling-mounted vat of packing peanuts and a roll of bubble wrap as big as a mini-cooper, AND A ROLL OF TAPE THE SIZE OF MY A$$, they won't use it on your package. You have to buy all of those things (which including a small box will cost you like 16 dollars) while you stare at this warehouse-sized amount of packaging material as the Scowling Lady glowers back at you, Naive Idiot, for asking her if you could just buy the box and she could pack it up for you. Then you have to pack your own thing off premises and take it back to the Scowling Lady who will then put like a tablespoon of her own precious packing peanuts in your 16 dollar package. Then it's going to be $46 dollars to ship it *ground* to Santa Rosa. Why don't I just punch myself in the face while I'm at it. In fairness I feel sorry for her minions, who should probably unionize. First off, it's important to note that UPS stores are privately held and are not actually owned by UPS. This is important because they don't offer UPS packaging supplies or mailers, which are free if you do go to USPS or FedEx locations. This location had plenty of supplies, the staff was not very friendly or helpful. I ended up having to go to an actual UPS distribution Center to resolve what I needed resolved (and actually call UPS themselves). read more

This family owned shipping center is great to have in the village. I like the people who work here, and have always had good service. To everyone who have given this store low ratings, its not owned by UPS. This is a family business and they have to generate income somehow. 90% of their workload is taking in free boxes from people returning their junk to Amazon via UPS. They don't make money on that service, and they still have to tape your box up, add the label for you, etc. For free. Anyhow, its a shipping and copy center, and if you're a little patient, and kind, they are nice enough and efficient and helpful. Just don't expect a lot of freebies. read more

Unlike most UPS Stores, this one will NOT give you a receipt when dropping off a pre-paid shipping package. The best they will offer you is a scrap of paper and the suggestion to transcribe the number off the receipt. If your package is lost or stolen sometime between your drop-off and when a REAL UPS driver picks it up and scan it... well, you're out of luck. Compare this to the UPS Store on Howard and San Francisco (and also look at their ratings). They're more than willing to give something as basic as receipt in exchange for a package. My experience at this store nearly cost me the contract I was having them notarize, which they did incorrectly, and then refused to issue a refund. I understand mistakes happen, and that notarizing across state lines is a complex process, but a) it's bad business policy not to refund a customer if the service you provide was incorrect, and b) it should be the business that takes the hit for this, not the customer. I wrote a review earlier on, trying to be honest about the store and their services. I had be lucky I guess. Then the following happened: I returned a shipment to a retailer in Georgia and was overcharged. $93.93 instead of $73. The retailer checked the price on the UPS website with the right dimensions and weight and I did the same. The price should have been $73. $20 difference is minimal to me but that is not the point. The point was that I was overcharged and that the manager, whom I got on the phone, refused to concede their mistake. I will not go back to the store for shipment and I encourage every one to be careful if they chose to. As for the manager, I am afraid the previous reviews were right. The service has always been spotty and inconsistent. For example, ask for UPS packing supplies so that one may ship via UPS from a UPS store and ALL employees simply act like they have no idea what one is talking about. All I needed was a clear, adhesive window so that my pre-printed, pre-paid packing slip could be properly mounted on the envelope. Happens every time; UPS must charge the retail outlets because they are soooo preciousss. Also, the sign says it opens at 8:00 a.m. Morning after morning I have waited long passed 8:30AM and the store remains dark and closed, during the week. Most recent incident: September 1, 2016. I strongly suggest that one not patronize this store. It is horrible. read more

STAY AWAY! The UPS in Emeryville is so bad that I waited until I was in Montclair to go to a different UPS, only to discover it's the same person running the Montclair UPS! No wonder it has such low reviews too. This guy is a liar, a criminal, and just plain rude (more on that in my Emeryville store review). Even dropping of a simple prepaid return was so awful that I felt compelled to get on yelp again to warn others. As I was pulling up the barcode on my phone for him to scan he started telling me how i need to pay to rent a machine to print the label. Not true, I had a barcode for him to scan that was already paid for including printing. He hassled me about the box I was using to ship telling me I need to pay to put it in another box. It was already a regular cardboard box, perfectly good, not damaged, no issues. He took it and sent it, but wow was it a bad experience. There shouldn't even need to be that much interaction to drop off a box with a prepaid label, but he just has to be rude and treat customers poorly. I will take packages with me to work and ship from SF in the future just to avoid interacting with that man or supporting his businesses in any way. read more

TOTAL RIP OFF! I had one tiny scarf, gift-wrapped without a box, that needed to reach my aunt before Christmas. I first went to the Montclair post office -- the line was out the door and I didn't have an hour to wait, so I went to this hole in the wall UPS store. They have no UPS mailer envelopes. I had to BUY an envelope from them for $4 (that's about a 1000% mark up). To get the envelope to the midwest in 7 days, the best price they quoted me was $26. At the SF UPS store I sometimes use, that would cost $10. I will not give these people business ever again. They are total jackholes. read more

This store is horrible and UPS should fire the manager. The manager appears to be a 50 year old Indian man and is very surly. He thinks he is a "know it all" and is downright rude to customers. He should not be in a customer facing role. The younger people there almost seem like they are crying out to be more helpful but get interrupted all the time by the manager. You can tell by these ratings vs. other UPS stores that people really dislike this place and that culture starts at the top. Dec. 21,2020. Just returned from the most horrible experience at the UPS in Montclair. The clerk arrived late and I made the horrible mistake of asking her (at this point I was not sure that she was the clerk) if they opened at 8:00 and she took it as an accusation and started yelling at me. Other people arrived and she then opened the door. She said it would be 20 minutes before the computer system would be ready to operate. I asked if I could get a mailer in the meantime at which point she started to yell at me again. She then wanted to take the last person in line and when he did not respond she waited on me and said my small sketch pad with pens would cost $80 to mail. She laughed as I walked out of the shop. A week ago I had a very nice experience in the same store with a different worker and mailed a big box for under $15.00. Someone must fire this woman as she is vicious and is probably mentally ill. read more

I have been coming to this location for about 20 years and the service has always been the best. The people who manage the store are professionals, and they do very good work. They are also very kind and friendly people. Today I needed to ship a couple of musical instruments. (a guitar and a trumpet; with cases, books and insurance. They made sure that I had them packaged to professional musician standards. They provided all the materials, they took the time to review a website I asked them to look at regarding some of the specialty packaging. I was present throughout the actual work of packaging and labeling my boxes. They also included printed sheets of paper with my To & From names addresses and contact information. Having any UPS store provide materials, do the actual packaging and discussing the available rates for insurance and travel to make sure my needs were met; but not met by more than I needed. All while they were providing cheerful and prompt counter service to other customers that came in while they were working on my packages. My total cost was not inexpensive. But all my costs were/are comparable to other UPS store outlets; and for what I received it is money well spent. I unreservedly recommend using this UPS store. read more

Avoid this place if your sanity means anything to you. First of all, the people working there are rude. The prices or so inflated that i feel it's almost illegal. I am inclined to report this to authorities. I asked them to print a document, 1 page and they charged me $3.28!!! For a 1 page document? Are you kidding? And not only that, I discovered that when I got home, not everything in my document got printed. The last line was missing. I am posting my receipt cuz it itemized what the $3.28 was for. $3 for use of computer which I didn't cuz they handled the printing, .25 for 1 paper, .3 for state of California board of equalization?!! Rather than to go back and argue that I didn't get what I paid for , I decided my sanity was more important as I know there will be resistance on their part to admit to doing a poor job and overpricing. The UPS Store - Shipping Centers Near Me - Oakland, California

I have shipped 100's of packages from this store location, one of my packages didn't make it to destination & I paid more than $50 shipping fees. Ups told me the store needs to file the claim as they are the shopper, I have stoped 3 times at the store and called, they say only the manager can check who is there at 1pm and don't know how much longer she will be there, in all 3 times I stopped, they made me wait anx were rude and every time I call to check at least to refund my shipping fee no luck for over a month. Worst place if anything happens to your package. Unfortunately I have found a place on UPS to file a complaint for the store. What a disappointment. read more

Second time I received outrageous quote to ship. Last time it was 450 dollar quote. USPS shipped it for 60. Today I was quoted 768 dollars to ship a 15 lb painting to south California. I mailed it for 160 through fedex. It was 10 inches to big for usps or it would have been a hundred to ship. There is no excuse for such a difference in price to what the online estimator calculates.
