I live in that apartment in the same building as this store. I had UPS try to deliver a shipment of wine (needs signature) while I was at court. UPS left it at this store. I went in to retrieve my package and they demanded $35. I said no return the package to sender. I am moving my office to work from home. I've had my fair share of negative experiences at other UPS stores, however, the experience here is the furthest from that. The word that comes to mind is.. SUPERB. Alike most of you, I'm an Amazon prime user and with that comes the pitfall or returns on items. This UPS is conveniently located in downtown about 6 mins away from me. With that being said, parking is tough unless you're going to be quick, in that case throw on the hazards and pull onto the red curb. (you didn't hear that from me though!) They also validate from the parking garage (thanks Joseph the owner for letting me know) The service is excellent and the staff is friendly and supportive with answering questions. I've been a customer here for a year, renting a box for mail. Service has been fantastic!!! Everytime I enter the store, I am greeted with a "welcome" and a smile. I visited this store on 12/13/2021 around 8:30am, frantic because my original passport photo was rejected by the passport agency. Luckily, this ups store was close, so I RAN 2/3 blocks from the passport agency to this store to take another photo. I had the most friendliest encounter with the female associate! I told her about my situation and she was quick to pick up her camera and set up the photo station for me! Since I had just ran, I was a little red and flustered but she gave me a moment to compose myself and fix my hair before the photo. She didn't make me feel rushed at all! She even held up a hand mirror so that I could have a final look. I can't remember her name but she was just so kind and very very helpful. After taking the photo, she printed it for me and even helped me staple the photo properly to my application and gave me an envelope to use! Thank you thank you thank you. read more

Staff here is rather incompetent. Came here to print out a document, first time the document came out landscape when it should be portrait. Then 2nd time, the page was 70% and the letters in the document are barely legible. By this time the staff member was getting annoyed with me when it's her that cant even print a document properly. Took 3 tries and on the 3rd try she got it right but only printed 1 copy not 2 like I requested. I wanted to return an Amazon return. they have huge signs that they do amazon returns. I had the item packaged but the return label was on my phone, the guy refused to scan from my phone and said that it would take $2.5 for them to print the label!!! I went to Fedex print on 5th street and printed the label for 20 cents. There is another UPS store near Scripps near University Ave. Their manager is a nice old man, He not only scanned my phone for label but I also didn't had to package my return, he packaged it himself. This location was used to open a PO box in my name to commit MAIL FRAUD. I have been the victim of ID theft. I have been trying to track down the individual who has been using my personal information to open credit cards, bank accounts, and commit Medi-Cal insurance fraud. I found this UPS PO box listed on my Experian and Transunion credit reports. When I called the location no one answered. I called again and a person picked up then hung up immediately. This is very unprofessional. I then went to their website to request a Notary appointment to notarize an official affidavit including my police report. I got an email confirmation for 4:00 PM. Then 8 minutes later I was sent an email canceling the appointment. I called back an hour later and the manager Joseph Conway answered. I asked if there was mail in my PO box. He said he has something from the Department of Health and Human Services and a few letters for Mr. or Mrs. Woods. I then explained to him the situation and advised I was headed there to pick up the mail and get more information. When I got there the manager was not there. I spoke with a female representative. She gave me the mail with my name on it, but not the other contents of the box. She said the manager talked to her about it, and said when the "PO box owner" came to pick up the mail last month, they were told that it would be returned to sender. This was totally different than what the manager told me on the phone. I let her know that I had filed police reports trying to track down this ID thief and that they should expect to hear from the detective on the case. They were not helpful at all. She did not offer to close the PO box and did not provide me with any information. Be wary of this place. They are not helpful to victims of ID theft. It's almost like they are complicit and are protecting the thief. I did file a NEW police report for this incident in particular, as well as file reports for Mail fraud and ID theft with The United States Postal Inspection Services. read more

I never thought I'd be rating a UPS store, but here we are. The customer service here was amazing when I came to mail a Christmas gift to my Secret Santa, who was all the way in Michigan. The staff, particularly Naydine, were all extremely helpful, especially because I don't ship things very often. I hadn't wrapped my gift yet, but had wrapping paper, so the folks provided me with scissors and offered tape to make sure I could ship my gift out on time. I shipped a package on 9/1/2021. My tracking number shows the package was dropped off. No further updates or progress have been noted in 3 weeks. According to the tracking number my package never left this facility. I showed up to get a status of the package and the employees checked the tracking number, shrugged their shoulders and gave me the 1-800 number to contact UPS. This store is third party business and is NOT affiliated with UPS. If you care about your package or are shipping anything of value find another location or go directly to UPS. This is not a reliable shipping location and employs people providing bare minimum effort with a poor attitude. Barcodes on packages for tracking and accountability but they can disappear with no repercussions. This is what I get for not using FedEx. read more

They were patient and let me do my thing with out bugging me. When I was ready I dragged it all up to the front. The coolest thing was they were playing Joy Division and the Sisters of Mercy. The UPS Store in downtown San Diego is amazing! I have used them for over three years to print out spec sheets for tradeshows. I simply email the file plus instructions and everything is printed to perfection. If they have a question before running the print job, they will call to get clarification. I appreciate the extra touch. I also appreciate the turnaround time when I have not given them much lead-time. I also have used them for shipping. All I do is go to our UPS business account to generate the label and email directly to them. I bring the package in and everything is ready to go. Does not get any easier! There is a UPS store about 5 minutes closer to me than this location but 501 W Broadway definitely has the best customer service! I'll gladly add another 5 minutes to my trip to go here :) The staff is so friendly and helpful when you come in, even if you don't know exactly what you need help with, which is something I appreciate the most haha. It does get a little busy because it's such a popular location but they always manage to get through the lines quickly and efficiently. This UPS store is one of the worst I've encountered. The manager Joe sits on the side or does meaningless things while the customer line is 8 deep with only one clerk handling the counter. The clerks try to get you to buy shipping boxes or envelopes when UPS boxes are free, either because they are unaware or worse they are trying to upsell to unsuspecting customers. Extremely unsatisfied with my service at this UPS location. Dropped off an Amazon return 17 days ago, have been watching my tracking label since and it shows that my package hasn't left the store. I called them and they said that they put all Amazon orders in giant boxes and ship them out, that my tracking number means nothing, that I need to continue to keep waiting, and if I don't get the return there is nothing they can do about it. TERRIBLE. DO NOT GO HERE FOR NOTARY SERVICES (or customer service). Made an appointment online via UPS website for a notary. We walk into this location with paperwork in hand 10 minutes before our scheduled time. As soon as we walk in the door, an employee (middle aged woman, bleach blonde hair) with an exasperated look on her face calls across the store at us inquiring if we were there for notary. We confirm and she, still from across the store, snippily informs us that there is NO notary for the day. And that's pretty much all she says. We stand there stunned and growing angry and tell her that sucks because we made an appointment. She asks (still across the store in front of everyone else) if we made the appt. online to which I confirm, continues to irritatedly explain that there's some disconnect between the UPS website appointment system and the actual stores, yadda yadda. Does not offer any other info (where else we can go, doesn't offer an apology, any alternatives, etc.) and goes back to her task. So we thank her for nothing, and begin to walk out when a VERY NICE customer (with a look of disgust at the terrible service she's just witnessed) let's us know there is a Postal Annex a few blocks east that takes walk-in notary appointments-- to which we brought our business. I understand the frustration with dealing with angry/frustrated clients constantly because of a miscommunication between the corporation and the actual stores, but there's also a way to communicate with customers (who, by the way, are not the enemy) and her way was NOT that.
