I have used this store for years as an employee. Now as a small business owner, Dave suggested I try EDDM mailers to promote my business. Dave said his clients have gotten a 2 to 3% response rate. After spending over $460 for printing costs of the mailer through this UPS Store, I tried my first Direct Marketing. As recommended by Dave, I picked the neighborhood I wanted my business flyers to be delivered to and even chose the location based on a friend I could verify receipt. My friend never received the flyer when I followed up with her twice. After questioning the USPS, a clerk came back to me with a verbal statement from the carrier that, "they were delivered." Hearsay information. No USPS verification & no way of proving they were actually delivered. My gut tells me my mailers were not delivered as I have not had one response/email/phone call in response almost 60 days later. I WOULD NEVER USE EDDM direct marketing again!! Lost over $700 in this marketing campaign as recommended by Dave. Printing of flyers was marginal w/ uneven sizes and large gap in middle of flyer. I asked Dave why he charges such high prices for scanning and copying than what I can get from other local businesses and he said, "Then you should go to them." I will. I usually do my returns at the main UPS office. But decided to return several packages at the Scotts Valley office since I was in the area. Even though there were two people working and only one other customer in the store I still had to wait 10 minutes to drop off my packages, they seemed to be very chaotic even though they did not seem to be busy. I have never gotten a receipt from UPS for a return to Amazon, in the 10 years I have ordered and returned items from Amazon I have never had a problem until this return. All the items were scanned received and return that day except one. I know it is my fault for not getting a receipt and this is a lesson learned by me! To anyone leaving a package at the Scotts Valley UPS store, get a receipt. I however will never use this drop off spot again. read more

I called the UPS store because I needed a large, delicate item packaged and shipped to Washington. They were so polite on the phone and advised they'd be glad to box it carefully with all the packing material and have it shipped for me. When I got there it was busy, but they took the time to make sure I was taken care of. Dave is a ROCKSTAR when it comes to packaging. He did a GREAT job.I was provided with tracking info and a coupon for 10% my next packaging job. The customer service is excellent! We are so lucky to have this business in Scotts Valley. I will be bringing all my packing and shipping needs to them in the future. BRAVO! read more

I thought I would offer an updated review since it's been several years and I just had another great experience there. I find that the service at this UPS store is still outstanding! The owner, David, is incredibly nice and helpful. I listened to him help a customer save money by offering less services than the customer originally wanted. How does this place have 4 stars? Must be friends of Dave, the worst owner and customer service individual I have met in the past years. How do you become owner/manager of a store when you know nothing about your business and how it operates? Two instances of Dave being condescending, ignorant, a liar, and just down right rude. His young employees are alright, but also seem to have zero training or knowledge how to operate a store. I brought in a Dyson return label and Dave said "I have no idea what that label is. I cannot do anything for you." I called Dyson immediately and they were shocked to hear this. Dyson mentioned they have contracts with every UPS store and this is shocking to know they are not fulfilling this contract and being ignorant about the label. Dyson called the store on my behalf and Dave told Dyson a different story than what actually happened. He said "We know what that label is and so does my staff, we just do not have any boxes to ship that out." SO many things wrong with Dave's lie here. Firstly, my Dyson was already boxed up, it just needed a label from UPS to be printed for shipping. Secondly, they had tons of boxes and if UPS runs out of boxes that is just sad. That literally is what you offer customers. Thirdly this was just a flat out lie to Dyson about what actually happened to cover his own ignorance. Second instance being my wife brought an item to use their faxing services. Simple enough, right? Wrong. Dave, yet again, proved how terrible of a manager he is. They faxed the document, sure, but the recipient of the document said it was too dark and they could not read anything. HOW DO YOU MESS UP A FAX??? My wife returned and they said "That is the best we can do." Didn't even bother offering her a refund. What scum!! She went to another local faxing service company and they faxed the document in color, WITH NO ISSUES. NEVER GO TO THIS UPS STORE!!!! read more

I brought a couple of pre-paid return labeled packages to the store a few weeks ago. One was an exchange that I needed immediately for a medical need. When I did not receive my package, I tracked down my package and found out it was to be sent by USPS. The clerk at UPS Store failed to tell me this. My package is still in route to over 40 places throughout the United States!! It was sent in California to be delivered in California. I phoned the manager who said the store just sent this out to the post office. They should have informed me that this was not their label. I could have easily taken this to the post office myself. The manager was very rude to me and said he had another call. My call and inquiry was not important, and he patronized me by calling me 'Dear' which is inferring I am 'old'. I have sent many many packages through this store, but will never again do business with them. The service and attitude was horrible. The least the manager could do, was to take my name and number and get back with me. That would have been PROFESSIONAL. read more

I've been using the services of the UPS Store in Scotts Valley Ca for a number of years for sending packages, sending/receiving faxes and making copies. They even have taken care of a couple of my notary needs. The staff has always taken care of me courteously and efficiently! I had the need to ship a couple of large glass framed antique prints to New York and I asked Dave at the store if he knew of a company that would crate up the two prints and his response was...."sure....we can do that...we do it all the time". l was happy to hear that they could crate and ship the fragile frames to Sotheby's for auction. They did a great job...prints arrived right on time and in perfect shape. So whether you need to make a copy or send something huge and fragile...they are the place to go! read more

I went in for the 1st time with a couple of Amazon returns. The QR code had to be downloaded again but a store employee said they didn't have wifi. Right as he turned away to help other customers he said a local coffee shop had wifi. I considered pointing out the value for some customers to be able to get these codes but I figured the UPS employees were used to telling people to go to the coffee shop for their UPS shipping codes. I left the counter line, got my codes and got back in line. I felt lucky to get the other employee. Be careful with the door as there's a piece of metal that sticks out enough to leave a mark on your arm. read more

Holy cannoli best UPS experience ever! I had to take all my packages back from Christmas shopping Amazon and dreaded going. I have no idea how to do this my mom does this lol.. long lines, the inability of knowing what to do, unfamiliarity in process and probably a bad attitude that I'm going to have to deal with. I was sooo WRONG! I wish I had not put it off! So efficient! There was no line, each employee was working efficiently. I was lucky enough to get Kevin! He was able to help me with everything! He knew exactly how to get to certain return slips on my cell phone (I was lost) I was so pleased to find out I did not have to do a thing! He handled it all with a SMILE and perfect professionalism! Hello For so many years I go to this UPS and the usual staff are nice,friendly and helpful. Today I went with my son for drop off Amazon and for some reason I needed help with my application/ Store location. I asked the clerk person nicely to help with the application and he said he can't help and ignored me and helped another customer. I waited to figure out and still couldn't do it and he said we can't help you with simplest thing which is a very usual thing for UPS and no effort from clerk person what so ever. I told him it's not nice you don't help me and left the store. Also by the time I was leaving the store another clerk told :is it good to tell you how to do your job? All I ask help for simple task. I went to Kohl's and they helped me in blink of eyes. I mean less that a minute. I would like to let you know that today customer service was terrible and the new staff need more training in order how to be respectful,be more efficient and attentive. I'm waiting in a long-ish line, five days before Christmas, and spending my waiting time writing these guys an excellent review because I'm so impressed with their friendliness and customer service. They are over-staffed, extremely helpful, apologizing for the wait, and cracking jokes with the folks standing in line. They also recognize their regulars and greet them by name. The staff here is great. The owner Dave seems like a good guy. But, there's NO way he doesn't know that one of his employees who's first name begins with the letter C and ends in s is the most unprofessional employee I've ever dealt with! I've been in business for over 20 years. I'm new to the region. Used to do business with other stand alone UPS stores. My clients and I have been shocked at the attitude of this employee. Rude, arrogant, argumentative. The proverbial list goes on and on. One of his colleagues actually said to me (after he heard C#^*s being a complete tool), "I would like to apologize for his behavior, he's just like that. He's got a strange personality. I have only good things to say about the staff at this store, whom are courteous and provide great service . Hands down, the owner/manager knows the right people to hire . There is one UPS staff person named Kevin ,he stands out in my mind since he goes above and beyond in his job- especially when he sees me having difficulties with various equipment. I have also observed that he is consistent in helping any customer who needs assistance. My job has plenty of deadlines and it is quite frustrating to have to leave my home office to finish a job, so it's a testament to this store that I always leave with a smile on my face. Sean is a rocket scientist! He quickly copied about a half dozen items for me, some on regular paper, others newspaper sized, one magazine sized in color. He recommended the least expensive way for my delivery to meet its deadline and efficiently rang up my total, remembering an envelope, copies from two machines, and UPS delivery. This kind of service happens time and again--my husband and I needed last-minute, late-in-the-day faxing/notary/copies/overnight delivery and the person who helped us was far less rattled than we were by the complex order. I'm frustrated with this place. I went in to get postage tracking on a letter. The employee gave me my receipt, pointing out what was supposedly the tracking number. I then attempted to track the package, and got "invalid tracking number" messages. I called to ask them what was up. They told me "this kind of tracking number doesn't show any information until the package is delivered." This seemed strange to me, so I went in to the location to make further inquiries. I was then told "this isn't a real tracking number, this is just an internal number for us to locate the package in our system." The guy acted like it was my fault for not knowing that I had been given a bogus tracking number. No apology. No recognition that they had made an error that seriously affects me. Really, really bad experience. Don't go here if you expect competent people. read more

Well up until recently, I'd have given them more stars. However, I'm moving and wanted to cancel my PO box after three years. They won't let me cancel it when I want -- have to pay for longer. Also, had my passport photos taken here and they were rejected by the passport office for being unacceptable (poor clarity and placement). I asked for a refund or a credit to my box account and was denied. So that's how three years of customer loyalty is repaid? No thanks. Taking my business back to the US Post office. read more

These guys have terrible customer service. I was hung up on by the "manager" Chris after listening to his hysterical tirade regarding me wanting to finish my sentence without being interrupted. I then drove from Santa Cruz to SV specifically to file a complaint. They owner Dave, who heard his employee's childish tantrum that ended up with me getting hung up on, "didn't think it was that bad". He also thinks that sometimes when you scan labels "you do not actually know if they've been scanned". He is clueless. Probably why his staff sucks. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I went to this establishment to have a time-sensitive contract notarized and mailed. At the same time I mailed a second random package to my friend. They ended up swapping the labels and mailing the wrong packages to the wrong people. While the owner was very apologetic and accommodating in correcting the error, a contract that was supposed to arrive on Tuesday did not arrive until Friday. No getting around that. So, beware that you have to babysit these folks and make sure that they do their job correctly. read more

I can't believe I've never reviewed this place since I go here damn near every day. I have a mailbox here, I don't like mail coming directly to my home and that's just the way I am. Look, they mail stuff and they have mailing stuff and cards and they do notary. They're nice, the line is a little unpredictable and they're closed Sundays. That's the review part of the review. The rest of this is a rant. I'm just kind of putting that out there, because I wouldn't want to set up any false expectations. Everything else below is a rant about people I don't know and government services that don't work properly. It's a damn shame that government services (e.g. the post office) have gotten so bad that the private sector has stepped in with alternatives that are more efficient, friendlier and often cheaper. The postal service should work well, and it doesn't, and kudos to UPS and its franchisees for stepping in and making a profit from that! So since come here like 4 times a week I have gotten to know the people who work here, and their customers. This is a great example of why everyone should work with the public at least once in their life. The guys (they are all guys) who work here are really cool. They're pretty young and they'll probably go off and do something else after a while, go to dental school or open a blockbuster or start their own business, I don't know, whatever. But I think they will always appreciate what it's like to work behind a counter. I see the dumb questions people ask and how pissed they get about stupid things and how easygoing these guys are in the face of it all and I think - dudes, you must smoke A LOT OF WEED TO BE THIS CHILL. If people spoke to me the way they speak to these guys I'd lose my shit. I'd last about 2 hours in this place before I'd have to climb over the counter to wrap my hands around someones throat. To the dude complaining that it's too expensive to send a package by overnight. Well, who forgot his niece's birthday in the first place? Maybe if you had your shit together a little more you wouldn't NEED to send it overnight! Or people who complain that you need an ID to get something notarized. That's the point of a notarization DUMBASS. See? See how difficult it is for me to keep my mouth shut? Damn. It's such a good thing that I am locked in an office building during the day. read more

I had to package something over-sized and didn't have a clue how to do so. Ben basically did the whole thing for me. I was 9 months pregnant with a toddler, so this was a huge help for me. I had gone to the USP Store in Scotts Valley several times for little things like making photocopies or buying packing materials. Two weeks ago, I went in to have some documents notarized and sent. Two weeks after that, I received a bill from UPS "central headquarters" claiming I owed them even more money. I was so upset, and couldn't believe that a company could quote one price then later decide to charge me some more. I went back to the UPS Store with my original receipt and the UPS letter to ask how this could happen. I was armed with my arguments regarding the unfairness of it all, but was prepared to be told this happens and there is nothing they can do. Quite the opposite happened! Within a matter of minutes, Dave (the owner) identified the problem, took care of it, and told me I could disregard the bill. I'm not sure if he ate the cost himself or if there really was an error, but he thanked me for my business at least three times. It was clear that Dave wants to take care of his customers. I am so used to indifferent businesses and poor customer service that I was dumbfounded. Hats off to Dave. In a single problem-solving moment he won a customer for life!! read more

Have been going to this store for years, but it's getting to the corporate norm: too many customers and not enough employees and one of the employees that helped me was very rash. I needed to trouble shoot printing out a label from amazon that printed to light in some areas ( not an ink problem) Amazon customers ship free through UPS as a service. Anyway, i could not figure out how to print the label nor could either of the guys that helped me in between many customers. Needless to say it took awhile to get help including signing off and on the computer cause someone else needed to use it. The most frustrating part about all this is when i gave up and told them i would trouble shoot it at home, they then CHARGED me 3.00 for using their computer. What....really read more

Been mailing items here several times a year for years and the customer service has gone WAY down hill. They gave me the run-around on a lost package for months. Then, they claimed they had no record of it and that it was too late to do anything about it--even though I have both the receipt and the tracking number *and* they told me it would be fully reimburse for both the $66.50 tracking cost and contents of the package, which was insured. Over the past week I have spoken with at least 3 different people who all gave me different stories. One couldn't find it at first, but then found it after looking for a bit but then said the owner had to process it so I'd need to call back (why don't they handle that internally and call me back when they have it figured out?). Another called and left a message that the claim was being processed and I needed to provide replacement estimates for each item in the box (not sure why, it was insured, but...ok, I went and did that research). Then, the last guy I just spoke to (Chris) was completely dismissive, condescending, and flat out rude, saying there was no record of the transaction at all and nothing they could do. Umm...huh? Do they not have a record of any of the previous conversations I had with them? The owner is often there overseeing the business and always seemed like a reasonable and friendly guy, but I haven't been able to get in touch with him. I don't usually leave reviews, but this last call was over the top. Just...wow. I don't care if I have to leave the valley to send packages, I would avoid this place at all cost. read more

I went into the Scott's Valley UPS store to have some things printed for my daughters baby shower. The employee told me I would have to send him the files. I asked him several times if he could help me and he kept saying to send him the files. He said it was a liability to touch my iPad and tell me what to do. I told him that I didn't want him to touch my device and asked him if it was a liability for him to answer my questions. I said the store has always been helpful and the owner has always been nice. Another employee told me that there is a new owner, that he lives in San Jose and that he is real cool. I asked what his name was and he would only tell me his first name. I found the employees to be rude and condescending. At the time I was in the store, there were three employees working and there were no other customers so clearly they were not busy. I am sorry to hear that the store is under new management. Needless to say, I walked out of the store empty handed. I went to CVS where I found a very helpful employee who helped me with my printing. read more
