The majority of their cupcakes are just shy of $5 each but they were running a promotion when you buy 6 or more you get a 6% discount. I had a few questions about how they packaged them but the guy helping wasnt much for answering questions, that or he didnt understand what I was asking. Not a big deal. We ended up getting one of each, a total of 8. It's recommended to leave the cupcakes out at least one hour before eating them, if you don't, they come out with a crumby texture. I really really wanted to love them. Several people had recommended them to me. So we stopped in and got a slice of chocolate amaretto Swiss roll, a raspberry chocolate tart, Arizona strawberry cupcake and a red velvet cupcake. The bad: Unfortunately both the raspberry tart and Swiss roll tasted like they had been sitting next to some type of cleaner. They tasted off so we ended up tossing them. The good: The strawberry cupcake was lovely! The cake light, the whipped cream beautifully whipped. I would come back for this cupcake. The red velvet cupcake itself was good but I thought the frosting was too sweet for my liking. Overall I would try them again but it was a disappointing experience this go around. Made it 10 minutes before closing to pick up a last-minute 6-cupcake set for a Christmas gathering, and the cupcakes I got were so cute and festive. The inside of this place was real jolly with the decorations, it was awesome! The selection seemed pretty diverse, they even had dog sweet treats. This is my second time ordering here and has always had a good experience. They explain to you how to care for the cake and also come with instructions for setting out prior to serving. We had a beautiful custom 10-inch cake made at the Velvet Buttercream for a milestone birthday at $154. They did a gorgeous job with the inspiration photos I sent them to capture the Arizona landscape. The cake size was more than enough. The Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie - 8/10 - it was moist and chewy and chocolatey and delicious. It's maybe not quite as buttery as others I've had, but so so good. Macarons - 10/10 - Wonderful variety of flavors. Brought some home to the family and all told we tried the rose, the pistachio, the celebration, and the seasonal coconut. They were the crisp, pillowy perfection on the outside and delicately creamy on the inside, with the exact right amount of the expected flavor. Bread - 12/10. I'm not kidding, THIS is the bread to take to any friend who is looking for an excuse to try eating gluten again. It's loaded with garlic and rosemary and salt and airy dough baked into the sort of loaf that dreams are made of. I think it bears mentioning that this shop's pricing is less than I'd expected for the quality they offer. I met Aron, the owner, who was kind and is clearly passionate about bringing a range of traditional to innovative incredible pastries and baked goods to the neighborhood. He mentioned that on weekends they offer more breakfast-type goodies, and has different specials on Sundays that you have to be in person to hear. The display case with all the good sweets is amazing. I'm a cupcake guy and really find their cupcakes delicious and priced right at around $4.50. My favorites are the wonderful carrot cake and the red velvet. They tell you to make sure you serve them at room temperature which makes a big difference. I would suggest that they have some that are already at room temperature for those that want to eat them right away. Otherwise you need to wait an hour though it's worth the wait. read more

Okay let me TELL you about my cake. I received a cake for my 20th birthday. I put this order in months ago and discussed it thoroughly with the baker and the customer coordinator about my cake and the designs I wanted. This cake cost me a little over 100 dollars and was so WORTH it. I honestly thought it was going to be more. But not badly priced. I chose the flavors chocolate infused chambord and an amaretto buttercream and it was delicious. The chocolate had the nicest hint of cherry and the buttercream was delicious. I went to a restaurant and when the servers brought it out, it was stunning and it kept getting glances by other servers and all my friends took pics and complimented my cake and how pretty it was and asked where I got it. The bakery is so cute and nice. It was a very vast display case of different treats to have. It's a little small but it's honestly not a problem. Can't wait to order my next one. read more

Giving 4 stars due to the lovely lady who helped me and the touches they put into their storefront! I'm hoping next time I visit though that the baked goods I choose are a little more convincing. I was super excited that they had fresh fruit tarts in the case when I visited, and from afar they looked just like the picture they posted on instagram. The tart shell was well crafted, even thickness throughout, and the custard was silky smooth with just enough sweetness. However, I noticed that the tart I got didn't have any blackberries, and after rolling some blueberries over, that some a couple of them were molded! Fortunately they we easy to pick off, but I was just a little disappointed. As for the red velvet cupcake (chose based on being a customer favorite and it being my first time in the shop) the cake itself was soft and moist, but since it is paired with a caramel and chocolate drizzle, I think the cream cheese buttercream could be taken down a sugar level. Not bad, but not my preference. It could do without the drizzles in my opinion. Overall, the staff was very welcoming and did a great job answering all my questions. Pretty disappointed in the quality of cake i received for my birthday today. I've been coming to this place for almost 5 years and the quality & control has significantly gone down. Photos attached show what was provided for inspo and you can see what was I was delivered. Off centered, blurred, small text, and bubbled leopard. When i emailed the owner to provide feedback, he stated the bubbling was due to humidity and he would give feedback to the girl who put this together....that was it. No offer to correct, adjust or fix. I used to vouch HARD for this spot but now I will recommend others to go elsewhere. For $130 you'd hope the cake decor would reflect it, not this hodgepodge situation. I'm embarrassed to even have this at my party. I can appreciate the owner accepting feedback hence the 3 vs 1 star. Vegan Cookies n' Cream Cupcakes - Super flavorful, even vegan, the buttercream was amazing, super yummy! Strawberry Cream Cupcake - Was delicious as well, nothing I ordered was bad at all, again, give em a go. Lemon Raspberry Tart - These little gems packed a powerful flavor punch. Throw a couple in to level up your order. High Citrus Punch, perfect blend of Raspberries, must try. Raspberry Ganache - My favorite Tart, the Ganache was perfect, almost like a creamy peanut butter consistency, the Raspberry complimented it very well. Again, must try for me. I also grabbed some dope ass golden glitter candle for the cupcakes, overall, highly recommend this place. To us that's not an option given the time constraints and the cake wasn't ready at 3:00 when he arrived. The young lady did read our order back to Peter. He said she kept saying it was Velvet Buttercream and when he said no chocolate, she said,"that's what we call our chocolate, velvet". So I'm not sure how we were to know that VBC was vanilla when the young lady said it was Velvet. I really enjoyed working with The Velvet Buttercream! They had been on my list to try for sometime and my order with them came out amazing. I reached out for a custom order for rainbow cupcakes. Of course I wanted to showcase their best flavors and what not, so I left some flexibility in their hands with the only real preference, being lots of colors in the rainbow, which I know can be difficult in frosting. They happily obliged and made the experience so easy. I found their prices to be extremely reasonable for their product. I was able to pay for the invoice over email, set a time for pick up and easy peasy, picked up the day of. All 36 were in one giant pink box and they let me inspect them them taped them up. Gave me directions to keep them refrigerated, until about an hour before the event, then from there let them come down to room temp. Let me preface here with, I am not a huge cake person. I don't particularly love cupcake and lean towards other baked goods and frostings tend to be too sweet and heavy for me. These cupcakes were an absolute hit! They were delicious! The frosting was airy but had the right balance of sweetness and paired so nicely with the cupcake. They were MASSIVE and overall, one of the best cupcakes I have had the chance to try. I look forward to trying some of their other goods! They offered so many other delicious treats from macaroons to cookies and other treats at the bakery, it was hard to resist. I just cannot say enough about The Velvet Buttercream. Chef Aaron, Ms. Elaine and company are the most wonderful people to work with, and the cakes are reliably delicious. We've ordered cakes for our son's first and second birthdays-- the first was their strawberry shortcake which is seasonal and incredible and the second was a chocolate cake with cookies and cream. Everyone enjoyed them and I have been happy to refer anyone to try them out. These cakes are fluffy, and crumbly, without even remotely being dry. The ingredients are clearly premium because unlike cheaper cakes they aren't "sugary". They are perfectly sweet, they taste fresh and while decadent never overkill. They offer cupcakes, and I've tried the Boujie Caramel, along with Sonoran Harvest-- works of art. The flavors are so beautifully combined, I would be happy to bet the others are just as tasty, too.
