We were staying at JW Marriott and came to Victor for a nice sushi dinner. OMG talk about delicious. My favorite was the unagi roll however each one was incredible, packed with flavor, and extremely fresh. The service was spot on. Servers were available and welcoming. Ambiance was wonderful for a romantic date or a family dinner with plenty of spaced out seating (inside and outside). I'd definitely return.

During my stay at the JW Marriott Parq, I chose to have dinner at The Victor. I arrived right at the start of their dinner service and was immediately welcomed--the host greeted me warmly and escorted me to a window table. The ambiance was cozy and elegant, though reminiscent of a classic steakhouse. My server was attentive and polite, quickly bringing out a complimentary starter. The bread was fluffy, soft, and served warm--absolutely delicious. I restrained myself, saving room for the main course and dessert. For my entrée, I ordered the Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes, paired with a glass of red wine (The Prisoner, "Unshackled"). The dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. To finish, I followed the server's recommendation and tried Menke's Cake. It was a delightful choice and the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, I was very pleased with the experience and would gladly return the next time I'm in Vancouver.

The food is excellent and amazing! They have one of the best crab cake to die for! Their salmon was cooked in perfection when I had it! Serving might be slow when it's busy. Otherwise, the vibes and interior is amazing!

First time going to The Victor for Happy Hour as had been here for a previous Birthday dinner. We made a reservation but ended up coming early and they were happy to accommodate us and let us sit in the shady area of the open outdoor patio as we came on a sunny warm Sunday. The view here is semi private surrounded by BC Place Stadium, condo towers, and the open deck with a man made rock island and fountain - cute! We ordered drinks first - a beer and ice tea. No idea what the ice tea cost as it wasn't on the menu but I loved how it was served with a lemon wedge on the side, as it should be. Not sure what brand ice tea here but it was one of the best ice teas I've had as most restaurants ones taste watery with too much ice. To my surprise, they offer free refills and it only cost $3. My boyfriend said it was much cheaper than Cactus, that charges $5. We ordered a bunch of Happy Hour dishes to try - half dozen Fanny Bay oysters, Hamachi in ponzu sauce, Dynamite roll, mushroom aranchini, and wagyu croquettes. The complimentary milk bread came first and it's so soft and warm - great way to start a meal. Next came everything else we ordered. The Fanny Bay oysters were quite small but good enough and a decent price for around $2.30/each. However, I recommend going to Fanny Bay restaurant directly to try their oyster bar for a better experience. Dynamite roll was average but the Hamachi was fresh, tasty, and refreshing. We really liked both the mushroom aranchini and the wagyu coquette as they were tasty, perfectly fried, and not overly oily or heavy. Service here was solid with our server being attentive and our glasses were never empty. Solid spot for a Happy Hour menu if you want to be in a more tucked away quieter location.

I have been here 3 times so I am sort of averaging it as i experienced it over 2 years. first time I came for my birthday - the service was lovely at first but the food was underwhelming and our order was essentially "wrong" because the steak came out over done but then the waiter told us at the time because of the thick cut of it, even if we had it remade it would still be the same. It was odd because if that is the case why would you even ask us how we wanted it done? Second time I came to celebrate a friends birthday. We had an assortment of dishes which tasted great but then a glass was dropped by accident near our table and there were glass shards everywhere. Not their fault because hey, things happen but some shards had hit our feet so just ended the evening rather quickly. The most recent time I came for happy hour to welcome a guest visiting our family. The happy hour section is only allowed at the "lounge" but it is weird clunky seating and unsuitable for older diners (their opinion). The server was kind and attentive but the bussers were less kind bringing us our dishes. The food was good enough but still on the pricier side overall. The service is nice but you definitely pay for the prestige of dining there. I think it can be lovely for date night or girls night out but be prepared to pay.

The Victor was the perfect restaurant for relaxing and enjoying tasteful food with gorgeous evening views before our concert. As we approached the entrance, I couldn't take my eyes off the color choices they used to decorate which made me want to check out every detail. Like the melted candles, the book stacks etc. You can sit in the restaurant or in the part that opens completely to the outside where there's a pool. Our server Dario assisted us kindly in making our choices of what to try there and we were satisfied. If you like fine dining, artful decorating and relaxing feeling, this place will keep you coming back.

We came here for the Spoils of Sunday Brunch Buffet. Oh my goodness...I have never been to a buffet like this one before. They hand you a menu and you're supposed to choose an entree, made to order; on top of that, there's buffet! I ordered a Shakshuka for my entree. It was a regular sized entree. The fact that we had buffet on top of it didn't make the entree any smaller. Holy food coma. My shakshuka came with two eggs on it. One of them was overcooked but the other one had a nice, runny yolk. The buffet selection is smaller than a lot of other buffets. I suppose that has something to do with the made to order entree that they give you. Quality of the food however is for the most part, very good. Highly recommend the brussel sprouts. Our family kept on going back for more and more of the brussel sprouts. (Except for me. I wanted to go back for more but was really too full. Could only handle one serving of everything. Didn't have room for seconds of anything.) Loved the mashed potatoes too and would have gone back for more if I'd had room in my tummy for it. We were celebrating someone's birthday so they brought a piece of cake with a sparkler on it for the birthday person. Always a nice touch! On your way out, there's a candy bar where you help yourself to sweet treats like chocolate bark thins, sours, gummies, and salt water taffy!

Came here for the buffet weekend brunch. The Victor is a bit hard to find but it was manageable to navigate. You have to go to the back of the hotel and take the elevator up. The food was decent. I enjoyed the chicken and waffles and Tuna poke. The service was very good but it's on par with other high end hotel restaurants. We never felt rushed even though there was a stated time limit. It was good to experience and I would recommend to try at least once. But I'd only come back for the experience if others wanted to go; I wouldn't initiate it as I didn't feel it was worth it for me.

We dine here as a group, at this classic steakhouse offering a great selection of steaks and fresh seafood. Their cocktails were amazing. Service and ambiance were good and everyone had a pleasant experience, presentation of the food was great too It's worth it, I'd check it out again on a special occasion.

Came here with a friend to try their Dine Out menu. They serve warm cheese & onion bread with whipped butter as a pre-appetizer. Very yummy and we were able to get a free refill. For appetizers, we had the nobu style hamachi and beef tartare. The hamachi was really good. The yuzu ponzu was so good I wanted to slurp it up. Not spicy, but personally, the jalapeno detracted from the flavour of the fish so I took it off. The beef tartare tasted like a cheeseburger lol! I really liked that about it actually. Rich and delicious For the main, I got the peppercorn steak and my friend got the salmon. The steak had a nice sear and the carrots were so sweet and delicious. The sauce was just okay -- the peppercorns were getting to be a bit too much for me. I tried a bit of my friend's salmon and got envious! It was so good, I wish I ordered that instead. For desserts we tried both the chocolate peanut butter crunch cake and the Menke's cake. The chocolate peanut butter crunch cake tasted like some sort of chocolate bar? However, it was Very rich and was getting to be a bit much. The Menke's cake was perfect. Cake itself was nice and light, and the flavours were light and fresh. Really delicious. Overall, had a really good experience BUT.. Note that the servers will ask you what type of water you want.. make sure to ask if it has a cost before ordering... my friend paid $8.50 for water..... Ambiance was fancy and dark. Outside the restaurant is a beautiful pond.

We booked Victor Steakhouse during our recent trip to Vancouver, and my now fiance planned to take me there to celebrate our proposal and noted this in our reservation. Despite arriving on time, we were made to wait while empty tables sat unused, then seated in a cramped corner beside a loud table of 20 who clearly mattered more. Service was slow and dismissive. Drinks took a long time to arrive; the server even commented on the delay without apologizing. Our seating became a storage area for another table's boxed takeout, stacked behind my chair so I physically couldn't move it. Meanwhile, staff conducted a full photo shoot for the large "business-class" table behind us, making it obvious exactly who was valued. Food was equally disappointing. The risotto, recommended by the server, arrived as a watery, inedible mess. No one checked in for a long stretch, and when we asked for an alternative menu, it was taken away before we could order. The bill was dropped shortly after, no recovery, no care, just a push to leave. The "special occasion" note was only acknowledged at payment. They did nothing to make our proposal special or even mention it, even though my fiancé reached out to let them know that he was bringing me to dinner to celebrate this evening. The message was unmistakable: if you're not dressed up or part of a flashy group, you're invisible. To cap it off, my fiancé politely said goodbye to the host multiple times while leaving and was blatantly ignored. Cold, careless, and classist. If you're celebrating something meaningful, go elsewhere.

@jfoodreviews here If you want to impress a date, or have spectacular service? Do check out The Victor! They have on offer a delicious pre-set menu on Sundays called "The spoils of Sunday" Inclusive for the main is a 12oz prime rib, brussel sprouts, and mash potatoes, and Yorkshire pudding. You have an option for the starter between Caesar salad, Lobster bisque or, Avocado crunchy roll Prices as of sept 2024 $68 for the steak, lobster bisque, and creme brûlée dessert $26 waygu carpaccio The service is absolutely top notch, the constant filling of water, changing of plates, and checking in on you is just the perfect amount. In terms of food, everything is what I expected it to be. Cooked perfectly, and a large portion of food! One subtle comment I have is the steak did not come with a side of horse radish or wasabi. Normally I do like to pair my steak with such to give it a different flavour. I'm fairly certain if you request for it, the host can provide as they have a wet bar serving sushi

My first impression was that you'll need a bigger Piggy Bank or someone else's especially if you plan to make a pig out of yourself. Be at ease, the US Dollar is still doing well against the Canadian dollar. Yes, Potus should be beaten black and blue for starting a ruckus with our long time great neighbors. A line of ladies will meet, great and seat you when you walk in and stand there agog at the opulent decor. The place is beautiful without being pretentious and haughty. It is adult and sophisticated, so I was amazed they let my group in. The decor and the staff definitely enhanced the dining experience. Our table was in a small dining room with just 4 tables. Perfect. Two lovely Servers, Bella and Leti, took care of me and my guests like Mother Ducks. Menus and an ambitious Wine List arrived in moments. And, bless Black and Blue, everything was reasonably and fairly priced, who knew? The Staff: Efficient, engaging, fun to have hang at our table and guide us through the large menu. "One Stuffed Brioche is plenty for 4, but you will need 2 orders of Crab Cakes", said Bella. Leti soon returned with an array of vacuum sealed cuts of meat from petit to heroic on a tray the size of a gurney. She conducted a master class on Wagyu, Kobe, Marbled this and Grass Fed that. The Bar: As full as it's gets. Signature Cocktails, Classics along with a Wine List to rival the rough draft of Moby Dick. The Somm knew the entire cellar without being a seller. The Tantalus Pinot Noir 2022 was just what the doctor and I ordered. Soft and smooth. Who's here? Suits, Office Hoppies, Corporate Expense Accounters, Date Nighters and thankfully no legion of of elderly gentlemen strolling along the bar trolling for strays. The whole place is civilized. The Food: Man does not live by Steak alone although after the meat spiel you'll appreciate that a Vegan's nightmare is the restaurant's focus. The Calamari Fritti quickly winked at me. "Bella, can you bring it". "On it, Captain". Squid strips, lips, and hips dredged in a light Tempura Batter dusted with Old Bay Seasoning, and fried to a crisp along the same treatment to a handful of Jalapeno Coins. A cup of Aioli into which your squid can skinny dip. It was a bunch of crunch and held it's crispy integrity until the last crumb got stabbed by a finger. This is what Calarmi Fritti yearns to be. Out came the Crab Cakes on the heels (all eight of them) of the Calamari. The Crab Cakes were the size of two hockey pucks at least 4 inches thick. A serious slish of more Aioli underneath them. Them Crabs had been in the Vancouver Bay in the morning and on my plate by dinner. Absolutely no filler which made these Cakes truly killer. The Table side Caesar in Bella's capable hands was one of the best in memory. Redolent of Garlic and Anchovy it was wonderful. So hail to this Caesar. Crispy Brussels Sprouts with Lemon, Capers, Chilies, and Parmesan Cheese were terrific too and fine foil for the Porterhouse set in the middle of the table. Note: the Tongs for heaving up the Brussels Sprouts required a Marvel Comic Super Hero (The Super Squeezer) to grab what you wanted. "Hey, Bella, can you help with dishing up the vegetables?" "No worries (wimp)". While the steak was a pinch too pink, we could've returned it for more fire but dove on it anyway as is. No matter, the taste was there in all it's Beefy glory. No Peter Luger gimmicks (pats of Butter under the Steak to create an AI sizzle. It was just what a steak should be, a hunk of meat to give your arteries a treat. No room for dessert, so, Black and Blue we're not through with you. Want something great to eat? Black and Blue...repeat.

They did change it from crostini to chips instead which I preferred the crostini; nonetheless at $16 for a decent amount of high quality carpaccio, you can't go wrong. My friend and I also tried their short rib "escargot" ($15) which was melt in your mouth when paired with the pastry and doesn't actually contain snail! I'd definitely recommend this item as it might be my new fav happy hour item. The crispy brussel sprouts ($9) were also well seasoned but I found them to be a bit overfried but honestly not bad since I don't normally see brussels sprouts for happy hour. Their Hugo Spritz ($9) which was elderflower was also one of my favourites as it was not too heavy and complemented the food well. Overall still my favourite happy hour in Vancouver considering the price and amazing quality!

Our drinks came out incorrectly, and the appetizer took quite a while to arrive, which slowed things down. That said, the food definitely delivered. The shrimp cocktail was enormous and incredibly fresh, the steak frites was cooked perfectly, and the mushrooms were one of the standout sides of the night. They also made my birthday feel special with a handwritten birthday sign at the table and a complimentary dessert, which was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. A few service hiccups kept it from being a five-star experience, but the quality of the food and the birthday touches made it a place I'd happily return to.
