The Vine is a fabulous restaurant! The restaurant has an Italian decore and is beautiful. The staff are friendly and courteous. Dixie (I think that was her name) was a sweet, patient, and caring server. We ordered peach lemonade that was delightful! We started our meal with the roasted garlic and cheese appetizer. I love roasted garlic and this was done scrupulously. The cheese that is served with it, is a blend of brie and Bleu cheese. The bread is an Italian beget, thinly sliced and warmed. My friend ordered the seared ahi tuna, done to perfection. My sister ordered the roasted pork with risotto. Talk about tender and flavorful! I ordered the eggplant parmesan over pasta with a home made marinara sauce. I'm an extremely picky eater and will ask lots of questions about how things are made and Dixie was very patient and knowledgeable about how and what is in a dish. Needless to say, my dish was perfect! We all got to take left overs home (yeah more excellent food for tomorrow). For dessert we had the Ganoshe cake. I've never liked this thick, heavy, overly rich and sweet cake, but my sister talked me in to trying it as we 3 were all sharing. What a beautiful presentation! The cake was...oh my gosh delicious! This was NOT the overly heavy, thick fudge like cake. THIS WAS rich, creamy, sweet but not overly sweet delight! Pricing was very reasonable, portions were perfect, and everything was fenomanal! My Italian husband and I have love everything about this restaurant in the past. We recently had his Italian family visit. We took them there since the first time since Covid hit. Before we just ordered out. I made reservations for 6. They gave us a table in the kitchen doorway then when we refused that we got shoved into a corner small table. The waitress addressed my uncle in a teasing way and then addressed all of us. However she said something very inappropriate to my uncle when he asked her if they served something he had wanted. Her answer made everyone at the table very uncomfortable!!!. Very unprofessional! She then wanted to know what we wanted to drink. While we were discussing it between each other she rudely interrupted and told us she was bringing us pitchers of tea and lemonade. We refused and asked for lemonade all around. Later she brought the two pitchers instead!!. Another waitress Brought to go boxes carrying them with her hand down in the top box. There was no ambience at all, Rock music no mood lighting , staff dressed in street clothes. Very different then the past! If your going to charge high prices you should be much more professional!! We are regular clients of the Vine since 2016 and we have always been pleased beyond expectations : amazing staff and service, outstanding team working in the kitchen with one of the best chef's I have met so far. My husband and I enjoyed another pleasant lunch at The Vine. It's become a favorite when we need to be in Grants Pass for appointments. I like the restaurant's elegant, arty decor, not overdone. The tables are dark with touches of black -- napkins, straws, etc. The plates are stark white, with small square bread plates. The effect is modern and upscale. Today we had the crab ravioli with fresh, hot bread, and wonderfully cold iced tea. It was a warm, windy day and we dined inside. Our server is so thoughtful and remembers what we like and he is just attentive enough. The crab mixture had bits of red bell pepper in it, just enough to give it a little kick, and on top, a rich, buttery sauce with herbs in it. It was all light and delicious and we cleaned our plates! Other favorite dishes are the Chicken Piccata, Chicken Carbanera, Caesar's Salad, Sausage Lasagna, and Fettucine Alfredo. They offer a nice selection of wines and spirits if you want an adult beverage to accompany your meal. It's a very comfortable place where you can linger over a meal and drinks. This is a great place for friends to meet, for work colleagues to share a lunch, for couples to have a romantic dinner, and for families to celebrate a special occasion. I've dined here and ordered out. Good Italian food, friendly staff, and you can tell the people there take pride in what they do. This was the first restaurant I ate at when I got here to Grants Pass and 5 years later I'm still eating there. I would highly recommend them for a night out or just ordering out. Saw other reviews on Yelp do we tried it out. WOW! Honestly one of the best pasta meals I have ever had, probabaly the best. Better than I make, even. The only detraction is that the outside seating is in the parking lot of the plaza. Nothing they can do about that, and at least they have the option. The waitress and staff were above wonderful and they brought my service dog water in a pet bowl, without even asking. Though asked of it was okay to give to him. My wife loved her chicken parmesan and we both agreed we will be back next time we are anywhere close to town. Followed up with another pasta chain yesterday and we both had the same items...no where close to as good. Highly recommend this place. read more

We had a delightful meal in this unusual location for an excellent restaurant. Service was fast, I mean so fast we had our cocktails before we even had our water! The dinner salad was not your usual bland greens but was a mixture of greens, picked vegetables and tomatoes. Our entrees we also very good - prawns and pasta and lemon chicken and pasta. They were generous sizes and very flavorful. The engagement with our server, Chante (sp?) however is what really made the experience memorable. As I go through GP often in my job, I'm always looking for good places to eat. Today my friend suggested a restaurant that she and her friends discovered and wanted to share with me. "The Vine Restaurant" is where she took me. To me the ambiance was a little rough around the edges at first but that was offset right away by the bright and welcoming personality of our host, Alysa, (I probably have her name wrong) but she was awesome. Not only friendly and patient with two oldies that couldn't make up their minds; she explained to us what was available...anyway cutting to the chase the food was just plain wonderful, the "blackberry" BBQ sauce on the hamburger was a delightful experience and the sweet potato fries enhanced the whole meal! GP residents are lucky to have a restaurant like this where you live. I'm definitely going back. read more

Guy & Bobbie Sardo. We were traveling to Hillsboro Or to visit with our son and spent the night in Grans Pass Or. I went down to the registration desk at the hotel we were staying and asked the man at the desk if he knew of any Italian restaurant in the area. He handed me a brochure from under the desk and said a lady brought these in a couple weeks ago but he'd never eaten there before. He then told me of a great little Italian restaurant call the Vine in a hard to find area. We just asked our phone for the directions. The food was the best!! Were in our 70's and we love Italian food and have eaten it all over the world. The owner needs to print up flyers along with little plastic stands and take them to the many hotels in the are so that us traveling folks can have a great experience as Bobbie and I had. Great expectations unfulfilled sums up our test of this establishment. I had the Chicken Carbonara and my husband had the Fish & Chips. His food was bland, no seasoning on either the fish or the voluminous breading. The French Fries were undercooked and also bland. My Carbonara was much too oniony for my liking. I make a Carbonara with wine and bacon and egg and cheese and it has onion and mushrooms too. But unlike mine, The Vine's portion is swimming in 4 inch strips of red, undercooked onions, with paper-thin mushroom slices and about four pieces of bacon the size of the average thumbnail. All I could ever taste in every bite (and I tried because I was hungry!) was onion. I don't think French Onion Soup could have beat it for onion taste and quantity. The gluten free penne was passable, but a touch overcooked for my liking. The accompanying dinner salad consisted of a handful of various greens only and the cream bruleé we ordered to share as desert was again tasteless and also watery. I'm giving them two stars because they are trying to provide good quality food and gluten free, but they need to try harder. read more

The best Italian meatballs I've ever had from any restaurant. A must for anybody who loves great Italian food. I'm visiting my son in Grants Pass, and I really wanted spaghetti and meat sauce. I saw spaghetti and meatballs listed on line, but not meat sauce. I've never had a good let alone great meatball at any Italian restaurant until now. I'm so glad I gave them a chance. My mother made fantastic meatballs and she taught me how to make them. Once you've had great ones it's hard to order them from a restaurant, especially since you always get disappointed. What a great surprise. Fantastic food, service, and prices. Traveling through and met up with family who live in the area and wanted to try The Vine. Our granddaughter is Vegan, and I was wowed by Jillian's (our waitress) creativity. She was asked what could be made Vegan, and she must have listed more than seven custom variations possible on the menu as adaptations. They all sounded great, and she got the lemon basil shrimp (sans shrimp) with vegetables and a vegan 'patty.' She loved it. Her husband got the medallion steak. It was cooked just the way he asked. My wife got the lemon basil shrimp, and she raved about it (I tasted it, and I agree). I loved my chicken carbonara (and barrel aged Manhattan). We will be back. What a great find! A place in Grants Pass that offers gluten free and organic items is a rare find. It was a pleasure to have dined here one evening while visiting my husband's grandparents. My husband ordered their burger with sweet potato fries, and though the burger was underwhelming, the sweet potato fries were on point and you can tell they were made to order. I had the gluten free fish and chips. I have never even seen a menu offering fish and chips as gluten free, that alone was worth it for me. It was an added bonus that they were actually tasty too, and if you don't need to eat gluten free, you wouldn't even know they were any different than the ordinary. Their fish batter is panko style which I prefer, rather than beer battered. The red cabbage coleslaw that came with the meal was equally as impressive and I substituted regular fries for sweet potato fries to bump up the nutritional value of my meal. I would return for the entire fish and chips meal alone, my husband was equally as impressed with my meal and preferred it to his burger. I'm also curious to try the mango pineapple chicken with coconut risotto. Looking forward to my next time! read more

We stopped here on the way to our hotel in Grants Pass. We found it on yelp decided to check it out since I was craving burgers. It was a weekday evening but the restaurant slowly filled up as we had our meal. The waitress answered all my questions and was patient with our orders. The starter house salad was locally grown and organic and even had an edible flower. The burger was also very tasty, and so were the fries. My friend got the Oregon Special that had berry barbecue sauce and she liked it. Finally the checks were brought out inside the old antique looking books. First things first: this is absolutely a top-of-the line celiac-friendly restaurant. While I might give the food only 4 stars, they get an extra star for their safe food handling and outstanding service. We came for early dinner on a Thursday and were seated right away. The restaurant was about half-full. I asked right away about celiac-friendly options and was given a very detailed account of food handling practices that answered every one of my standard questions before I even asked. Yes, they had separate food areas for gluten free. Yes, the frier only fries GF food. No, you shouldn't have the bread for the table because it's going to get everywhere. Honestly, I get far more attitude about my questions in Portland than I did at The Vine. For them, it is just a given that I'd be concerned about being safe. Just a little thing: we asked the maitre d' our initial questions about GF, and when our waitress came, she already knew I needed to eat GF. We ordered the Caesar salad, Chicken Parmesan, and the Pesto Pasta. The salad was fantastic. The chicken on the Chicken Parmesan was crispy and wonderfully cheesy and delicious. Unfortunately, pastas were both a bit on the bland side. Need more seasoning! Portion sizes were great. I don't know how people can say portions are small. This restaurant is amazing. We got the cheese, bread, and roasted garlic appetizer. It was such a great blend of flavors, the blue cheese wasn't overpowering at all and complimented the brie perfectly. Next we had house made French fries, also very tasty. We had the chicken Alfredo and ceaser salad. This salad is so yummy, I'm very picky about my salads but this one was absolutely delicious. Not sour, homemade croutons, fresh parmesan. Our pasta was perfect, very creamy, well seasoned. The chicken was very juicy as well. With our free drink we got strawberry lemonade, very refreshing, not too sweet. Ok so I hate to ding this cute little place 2 stars but the service was just horrible. I don't know why one guy Canes and just asks us what we want to drink and then takes forever to bring it. Then some other lady comes up to us and asks us if we're ready to order...? Really? Ok so the calamari was okay. Definitely have had better. Way better. The chicken carbonara was excellent! Chicken Marsala was really good too. Both were Very hearty and very tasty! It filled me up so fast! The restaurant looked ok...Couldn't tell since we were the only ones there and they tucked us in the front corner table where we really see much of the place. Weird...
