We visit this restaurant after 3-day in Yellowstone. The food is Wyoming style, at least the size. Good food in large portion. Wife ordered a cinnamon bun and thought she can keep her diet. It turns out to be the largest cinnamon bun she ever have. We help to finish it as lunch. read more

If you want to eat with mostly locals and be politely served good standard food at a very reasonable price, with a smile, then make sure you visit this old place. Nice eatery in an​ overpriced town. The food was great but this was one of those places where I felt like I was intruding and they didn't really want me there. The host would barely look at us, the waitress got my order wrong and was condescending when I asked for my missing food. Maybe we just caught it on an off day. read more

When we arrived at approximately 10:30am they were very busy, we thought this was a good sign. The wait was not very long but it all went downhill from there. The waitress took our orders (6) and when everyone's meal arrived one of them was wrong. So the waitress takes the wrong plate away to bring the right order. The right order arrived after everyone was already finished. Now the pancakes were burnt on the outside and raw on the inside, the over easy eggs were cooked sunny side up, there was hardly any meat in the Denver omelet. Great big portions, great price, and it really hit the spot given the cold weather and all the activities we were doing making me HUNGRY. Good food, good service! For the late starters they have a half menu for late breakfast til 2pm. The potatoes are these great thin slices of potatoes fried up crispy. I have been to Jackson many times and never miss breakfast here. It had been 5 years since our last visit, so I was wondering if anything had changed. Happy to report that even though there were tour busses in and they were BUSY, we were seated in 15 minutes. My favorite menu item, the country fired steak and eggs was delivered in moments and just as I had remembered it...PERFECT. They never let my coffee cup get low and every single staffer spoke to us and smiled. Definitely worth a stop in Jackson! read more

I must admit. I expected better, really I did. The reviews were good the place looked solid. The food was meh. I almost forgot I even went there, that is truly how underwhelming it was. Super diner food, nothing special. But they do have large portions, reasonable prices and the service was right on top of things. Don't know why this restaurant doesn't have all 5 reviews. The restaurant is older, the dress is casual. We had a loooong line. Service was fast, pleasant, cheery. Servers raced around the restaurant. Even managers/owners bused the tables. Portions were generous, delicious, hot. Great service. Very attentive. The corned beef and hash I had was amazing (homemade and dry, but in a good way). They also have a lot of onions on it so if you like that like i do, you'll love this. We had heard a lot about this place and decided to try the breakfast since we were staying next door. They only serve breakfast and lunch at this location. The service and food were outstanding. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and only finished about one-half of the giant portion I got. The wife had the omelet and she said it was one of the best veggie omelets she has ever had. My hungry climbing partner and I stumbled into The Virginian after a big day out in the mountains the day before. We were still functioning at a caloric deficit and were ready to start the recovery process in earnest. Seeing the solid Yelp reviews and the one dollar sign, we went for it, expecting to be at least satisfied. I got the hot open sandwich with meatloaf. He got the protein platter. The server was kind and attentive, and if that's enough for you, then by all means take a spin at the Virginian. The food on the other hand, even famished as we were, was gross. It wasn't merely inexpensive, it was cheap, and cheap in a way that food never needs to be. When I go into a restaurant and still taste the inside of the Sysco box truck the food arrived on, I know bad decisions are being made back in that kitchen. So traveller, trust me when I say that you can do better. If I had to do it over again, I would have saved $20 and rehydrated one of my camp meals. read more
