Love it! Husband and I were looking for breakfast to go while we visited my dad. Both men like chicken and waffles so the first time we went, the husband ordered that for the both of them, a waffle for myself, and we each ordered a hash brown. So good! Definitely had to come back here, so there's a few other things to note. There's a bit of a wait! Be prepared for that. You can order different flavors in one waffle order. I typically split my order in two flavors so I can keep trying different combos. I'm a big fan of the apple pie. It seems like a lot of the flavors are that strange candy syrup flavoring which was a bit unexpected. The banana waffle in particular caught me off guard. One time we tried to order hash browns and they were out, but offered us tater tots instead. Just as delicious, but easier to share. I once got a scrambled egg and that was fine, but totally skippable. They offer condiments, but every time we go, we're just bringing it to my dad's house so we don't get them. So far none of the waffle flavors I've tried have needed any syrup or butter. My dad did use syrup on his original flavor. The only thing I'd change is the packaging. We typically order for 3-5 people and trash we have left over is kind of a bummer. It is all giant Styrofoam to go boxes. They also always give us plastic cutlery even when we remember to not ask for it. read more

A word of warning. If you call ahead, it is meaningless unless you pay. They didn't inform us of that. We placed the order at 11am and I arrived 20 min later. So 20 minutes waiting in the drive thru line, I got to the window. They then informed me they would start the order and it would be 15-20 more minutes. At 1230 I finally got the food. So 1 hour and 25 minutes to get a call ahead order. So 1 star for customer service. The food was good though. As long as you have time to spare. It would be a 5 star review if they had simply informed us that they wouldn't start preparing the food of an online order without payment. We would have pre-paid. I did ask to speak to someone about the communication but no one came. I would rather have resolved it in person rather than through a review. Times are tough. Hopefully they can get some additional help and communicate better. Lots of potential. read more

The place is not much to look at. If you want drinks purchase them at the gas station next door and come on back unless you want lemonade or tea. They make no bones about being "southern". I see so many great reviews about waffle den but unfortunately for my co-workers and I we didn't receive that love. The cashier today was really slow, messed up all of our orders and the dude that brought the food to us forgot to give us utensils he even waited to make sure our order was right went inside and never came back with our utensils,nickel and dime everything. Kool aid is bomb but one dollar for a children's cup and 50 cent extra for the tiny syrup they give you like cmon man. read more

I love this place. We went on a Saturday morning around 7:45am. Son and I each had the 3 waffle/3 chicken wing combo with a drink (do the math, it is a good deal). I had regular, he had jalapeno cheese. They were big waffles and tasty too. Mine had a sweet glaze drizzled over top. There was syrup on the table but no need for it. He really liked the jalapeno and cheese ones, chock full of jalapenos and cheese. The wings were awesome-a full wing too. The 3 wings you get here would be considered 6 wings elsewhere. The had a light, crispy batter on them and were nicely seasoned and crisp. I would go back just for the chicken! The kool aid was good kool aid, grape and fruit punch. Staff were very friendly, happy to engage in conversation, and seemed to enjoy working there. We will definitely be back. This place is a takeout only spot that is serving up outrageously delicious waffles and fried chicken. The fried chicken taste like your grandmother was back in the kitchen preparing it. We typically order at least 3 to 4 flavors of waffles and all of them are delicious. Our favorite are the strawberry and the lemon waffles. The customer service is always a 20 out of 10 I place my order with Miss Annette for a large brunch. She prepared this large order within 30 minutes which was impressive. You walk in and the atmosphere of the restaurant is so welcoming. My best friend brought me here for lunch and the whole staff was more than accommodating and warm. There was a long line but everyone was serviced promptly and the food was all so fresh. We got the red velvet waffle with chicken strips, cinna waffle with wings, and a side of tots. The menus itself has a plethora of options and definitely worth trying something different every time. The owner walks around and talks to and really takes care of you, he's like that uncle that makes sure you eating good. Initial Intrigue to come in was sparked by the fact that a place in Killeen, TX, had over 150 reviews; that lets me know that they've got enough clout to draw in that many folks; but, furthermore, they're rocking almost a 5 star rating. There's something to be said about that around here - definitely not an easy feat, and an achievement within itself. One of my favorite things about trying a new spot is when they've got premium reviews, and you walk up, and the place doesn't look like much - The Den just looks like a regular restaurant that's a sidecar to a gas station; but, man, you're in for a surprise. Open the door, you're smacked with the smell of cooking oils and waffle batter - you already know this place is full of magic at that point. I walk up to the counter, and I'm greeted by the sweetest lady and the biggest smile (the whole staff seems to radiate that same vibe); she guided me through the menu, as well as she showed me their current specials. I was so pleasantly lost amidst the arsenal of choices that I was capable of choosing from - they have waffles of almost any desert genre you could imagine (first visit was a Carrot cake, which they *knocked out of the park* like Barry Bonds). Once you order the waffle of choice, they'll ask if you'd like chicken (bone-in wings/boneless strips); the breading is perfect and the balance of breading/oil is something special - perfect for a crispy, juicy, flavorful piece of chicken. They also have Kool-Aid on the side - I never thought a restaurant would be able to compete with some of my home-brews that I make, but, man, they nailed it; the Kool-Aid here is no joke... Get some - you'll see. The wait time is not long at all, especially for the quality of food produced, and the experience overall was a blast. I've been back twice after my first visit, and it's as if it's been more fun, friendly, and delicious with each experience. Hubby and I ordered the butter pecan waffles, with wings for me, and he tried the chicken breast. They only serve kool aid, tea, coffee and water. So if you want orange juice besides what they serve you can go next door and buy it. And it's okay to bring it inside the waffle den while dining. The waffle was good and very light. You don't even have to pour syrup because it's already sweet. The chicken wings were nice and hot, and with a good mild seasoning. The Breast meat was a little tough to chew though.
