I was looking forward to a great breakfast since the diner looked so nice walking in and we spotted open seats at the counter. We waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken as every person behind the counter avoided eye contact or walked away as we tried to flag them down. Finally our waiter appeared, apologized and took our orders. The food arrived eventually with our drinks but we still needed to ask for silverware. Everything on my breakfast platter was at lukewarm temperature except for the toast. But my daughter was starving and we weren't about to wait any longer. Be forewarned. I did not realize ALL orange juice was freshly squeezed and a small glass was $5. That added a lot to our bill since I had assumed you had to specifically ask for it. I almost fell over when I got the check. Food was ok - under seasoned and sausage was overcooked. Don't know if I will return. read more

I have to hand it to the sales staff of McIlhenny Company for their success at convincing the vast majority of diner owners and including those of this Haddon Avenue eatery that their Tabasco Brand Pepper Sauce is the "hot sauce" America longs for! That reality was one of many breakfast thoughts trudging through my brain on this sunny South Jersey morning. Seriously, I can name several regional developers of richly flavored true hot sauces that McIlhenny's familiar bottled vinegar, mashed red peppers and salt can not come close to in any objective tasting contest. I so long to discover the diner that answers my request for hot sauce with a tray of enticing options. Of course another option for locations serving breakfast or for that matter any meal is the choice of bakeries for their bread. Real bread baked in the ovens of a local bakery make a meal so much more complete than the choice of food service plastic wrapped loaves left out to dry like the apparent source of my very dry (Hard to bite into) non flavored rye toast from this morning's breakfast experience. Ah, yes this is about THE WESTMONT. Neither the exterior nor interior reflect preconceived notions of a Jersey Diner. The exterior is eh ... no aluminum coated coach calling to diners but the interior is wow; an eating establishment upscale beyond the spin around counter seats one frequently finds at places called diner. I was welcomed with that infamous Philly greeting "How many hon" that is neither a sign of affection nor concern but this greeter was genuinely friendly ... I felt welcomed! I was truly impressed with the menu options and REASONABLE PRICES! Down at the Jersey Shore you would be paying 25% more for the same meal (Do chickens charge more for their eggs 40 miles from here?)! The many Benedict options were calling to me until I spotted homemade corned beef hash with THREE EGGS for under $8! Speaking of spotty .... waitress service was not the warm fuzzy kind. She tried to rush my ordering but without any sweet inflections that can lead to a decent tip. On delivery of the meal "Is that corned beef crispy enough for you" asked before I could even bite into it (And, no it was flaccid but I do not return things to the kitchen for minor situations.). And, on delivering the bill I was asked if I wanted anything else. I said I might want a coffee warm up in a little bit so she filled a mini silver tea pot and placed it on the table ... here's your extra coffee boy! No, she didn't say boy but that was her concept of service. Yes, the corned beef hash was homemade and the good news was that there were no overly chewy grizzled elements that frequently accompany real corned beef (A kitchen plus!). But, the hash was devoid of flavor other than the tasty potatoes under the pile of shredded meat. Some peppers or onions or SALT or spices or something ... I always look for homemade corned beef hash but when I return to the Westmont (And, I will ... those Benedicts) I will not order it again. Eggs ... all three fresh and appealing made to order. The toast ... dry ... the coffee a good quality. So why can't diners offer small ramekins of real jam instead of Smuckers just another thought on this contemplative sunny morning in New Jersey. read more

This is a very solid diner. I really like this place. Clean interior, good food, fast and friendly service. Maybe slightly higher prices than some (not all) diners but definitely worth it. I have only had breakfast stuff there but I want to come back and try some of their other items. Good French toast, home fries, and a decent pancake. They also have some nice breakfast combo platters. If you appreciate a really good, classic diner then I definitely recommend you check it out. read more

It's been over two years since my last rave review, so I figured it's time to update and basically say the same thing. You see, this is -- hands down -- my favorite diner period. Period. Though I rarely actually eat in. I prefer to pick up a chicken salad and bacon club and be on my way. So with a job in KOP and living in Philly, it's been hard to stop in Camden County for some of the pretty club. In fact, it's apparently been months, because I walked in tonight to find that they expanded into the business next door. They have a shiny new area with cases of goods on display. It's cheery and nice. I asked how long it had been since their expansion and was told it was THREE months ago! They then asked where I've been. I think this diner is just fantastic all around. Westmont Diner has been a lifesaver during the pandemic. At the beginning of COVID, my coworker recommended that we check out the diner for some grocery essentials. We took full advantage of their grocery service. When we started using their delivery, you could order until 11 am for guaranteed day delivery or items would come the next time - perfect for us. They have a large variety of goods from lunch meat and cheeses to veggies, fruits, dairy, and more. It saved us from having to go to the grocery and the food was delicious. High-diner quality goods delivered straight to the door. It was also a great way to support local during these stressful times. As with every other business, they also changed their business model. You can now get their diner food AND groceries delivered to your door. We are OBSESSED with their chicken fingers. The breading is so crisp and deliciously fried. They come with a hefty serving of fries as well. We have also tried a bunch of their other meals - sandwiches, burgers, and more. They do have gluten-free bread available if needed for your dietary restrictions. I highly recommend it. Jersey is known for its diners and this is the perfect South Jersey gem. It was one of those 24 hours where nothing seemed to go right so up early, I treated myself to a diner breakfast before getting on the PATCO train one day. Very basic diner with quick, friendly service and inexpensive eats. I got coffee and a combo platter with French toast, one egg over easy, and 2 strips of crispy bacon and a small but pudgy link of sausage. Very filling and total came to $10 or so plus tip. You don't get many tourists here - this is definitely a local's place and there was lots of greetings all around between servers and guests. In the front they do offer some baked goods, though I'm not sure if they are made on site. Open daily by 6:00 AM as per the server. read more

Came with a friend at 9am, and got a mixed veggie omlet with cheese grits. Service was extremely slow (we were in there for about an hour and a half...) but mostly everything was tasty. Omlet was a little on the bland side, but they do give you salt and pepper on the side. As far as diners go, this is a good one. We stuck to breakfast food when we went and it didn't disappoint. I had a traditional Philadelphia breakfast with scrapple. My Girlfriend had a breakfast sandwich with pork roll. Both came with home fries, which had a different take than most home fries I have had, with peppers and onions. I was there a recently as last night. Decided to take my kids out for a bite to eat instead of cooking. I've been here before with coworkers and the food was subpar. I voiced my opinions onto the waitress and as I was speaking she was rolling her eyes. Very unconcerned and unbother that my 5 year old sons was pick. The waitress staff has vulgar mouths which I spoke on about to a manager name Matt o Matthew. He was no more than 18 and it seems the waitress took him as a joke. I've also noticed their waitress were so young 15_16 year old. I was originally from this area and visited my mother from Vermont. I'll never be returning again. First time in Haddonfield and I had an hour to spare before a meeting so I popped into this cute diner. They have a cute room up front where you can buy some baked goods and coffee if you don't need or want a full breakfast. I was seated promptly and when the kind gentleman saw I had a laptop, he offered for me to sit in a booth even though I was alone so I would have enough work space. I didn't take him up on his offer and stayed at my small table but it was really kind seeing how slammed they were. I ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream because everyone knows diners give you extra hot cocoa mix so it's super yummy! This diner was no different. I got my usual 2 eggs, French toast and ham. It was a lot of food and the French toast was cooked perfectly - soft on the inside and a touch of cinnamon which is important to me. The only thing I didn't love is being served the individual packaged syrup ... there is something I enjoy about a nice pour of the old fashioned kind and I missed that. Definitely a nice experience and so inexpensive for the quality of food and service. read more

Everyone is so excited that they opened up here on Cuthbert. It looks like they're busy enough - so we figured we would try it for breakfast. When we came in through the front entrance the hostess told us we would be going into the back where the "best girl" is. Yay... We walked past maybe five or six staff people, apparently waitresses, standing around talking loudly about their weekends - no real issue with that except that were obviously customers in the place looking around for assistance with whatever and nobody was concerend. Oh well, not my circus, not my clowns... So we sat down and the hostess took off. Then we waited. And we waited some more. We figured that somebody might at least see if we wanted coffee or something. Even if somebody said "We'll be with you in a minute." or something like that we would have at least seen a light at the end of the tunnel. But nothing - just the same little clique of waitresses standing around at the entrance to the back part discussing their epic remaining weekend plans. So we tried politely waving at a server who happened to stumble into our area and she, of course, ignored us. So we kept on waiting for another few minutes. Now it was getting to be funny, so we begin timing it with an iPhone stopwatch. We had already been there for between five and ten minutes and by the time we decided to leave the stopwatch said that eight more minutes had gone by with no sign of life. At that point we picked up our menus and handed them to one of the gaggle in the middle of place - who gave us a hearty, cheerful "Thank You". So that's how it went at the Westmont Diner. My go to meal at this place is the Prime Rib dinner. For $32, you get soup or salad, the meat which is a very large portion and your choice of 2 sides. I chose the mashed potatoes which were so good that I wished I had more. The prime rib was so tender and flavorful. When I asked for directions to the nearest diner my Apple device brought me to the Westmont Diner. It didn't warn me that it only had 2 1/2 stars but I thought to myself how bad can you screw up your breakfast? Well the answer surprised me. Two eggs over easy and cheddar cheese grits and wheat toast. Three eggs came out, very under done not even a wish of brown anywhere around them, the grits for soup and I'm pretty sure the cheese in there was american. I had to fork falls or semi right leg pushed the table away for me dropped to 10 on the cashier and walked out. Nothing good about this place, except it's next to a liquor store. I'll need that to wash the taste of the raw eggs out of my mouth. read more

Dined here recently with the hope that new owners would improve the food. Sadly I was mistaken. I don't know how a diner can ruin a grilled cheese and a BLT but they managed to do it. BLT was on "toasted" 7 grain bread that must have been in the toaster for 30 seconds max - a whisper of toastiness. Bacon was overly salty as were the fries. Grilled cheese was served open face (why??) with bacon (again salty) and "grilled" tomatoes that I'd bet didn't see the grill at all. On top of that - the owners had a booth of friends next to us (plexiglass separating) and sat with them all speaking loudly throughout our meal about prices of food. It was off putting and in my opinion should be done in the office not in the restaurant. Server (Chase) was the one bright spot of the evening. He was very polite, attentive, and friendly. Recently ordered take out on my way home. The food was good, and the order was ready super quick (15 minutes) I had ordered a Jersey Breakfast sandwich which was INCREDIBLY delicious. I also ordered a salmon Benedict, which was the only reason I went to this diner specifically, since I've been looking for a place that's open around me that makes it. I was super upset when I opened the container and didn't see poached eggs or hollandaise, just some smoked salmon on a muffin. Regardless the prices were good and service was quick, but next time I'm definitely checking every container before I leave. read more

I cannot say enough great things about this place. The food is always phenomenal with decent portions at more than reasonable prices. The food market section makes ordering very simple as I rarely head to a grocery store anymore. Their produce, meats and seafood are very fresh. Also, they've updated their Greek goods section, when I saw Loukoumi can be purchased here, it reminded me of summer in Leptokaria. So for that I say "Efharisto!" Westmont Diner is my wife's favorite little diner in South Jersey (but still close to Philadelphia), it's quaint, comfortable and the food is pretty solid with huge portions. It's an old reliable that we still enjoy on occasion! Pros: Service is fast and friendly. A little too friendly sometimes! Portions are large and in particular, the potatoes are seasoned well and enjoyable with peppers and onions! Other meals were fairly typical of standard diner fare, but certainly not disappointing. My omelette was on point. The space is clean, comfortable and works for the diner setting. The relatively (a few years old, I think) new catering and coffee section is a nice addition. Cons: The Parking lot continues to be a mess. The waiting area can be a little haphazard and deliveries come through the bathrooms with essentially no place to turn. One funny story - during my last visit they were have several boxes of eggs delivered and as the gentleman proceeded to head down the maybe 3.5 foot wide hallway with 3 foot wide egg boxes, he asked for me to move...where, it's still not clear - I felt like Indiana Jones as the bathroom door opened and I quickly moved out of his way. My dad said one of the waitresses tapped his butt. I'm not sure this is a con - he felt flattered. Conclusion: All-in-all, a solid reliable diner, close to the Patco (so avoid driving if you can!). I felt I needed to update my review since the Westmont Diner's move from Haddon Ave. I went several times and, at first, the food and service was acceptable. The portions were typical diner portions. However, after a few more visits, the service was abysmal. Orders were taken incorrectly. Charges on the bill were wrong. Sometimes I sat and waited to a while before anyone would take an order. However, what was worse is one of the owners would berate the wait staff in front of the customers instead of helping out or even apologizing for a delay, mistake, et cetera. The food is okay--quantity over quality. I rather pay a bit more and get better food in a restaurant that treats their customers and their staff better. read more

I've dined here twice now. Classic Jersey diner and always busy. My son and I arrived this morning at a bit after seven and were seated immediately. There were already half a dozen tables seated, and our pleasant waitress took our drink order right away. Hot coffee arrived right away and we placed our orders. My son had the Virginia omlette, which was pretty much a ham and cheese. I had three eggs and ordered the grits to try as I've apparently got a masochistic streak about grits north of Georgia. Note that I have had good grits in the north, just very, very rarely. And although the food was very good, the grits were so-so. Better tasting than the ones I had at Silver Diner, but closer to the consistency of cement or play dough. The guy next to me got the oatmeal which looked much better. Get that. Nothing to fear on the menu, everything has been tasty when I've gone, and pricing is reasonable. They open at 6AM, so a bonus for early birds! read more

This is my first check-in, but not my first visit to this great local Diner! It seems everybody knows everybody, and if it's your first visit they remember you for your second :-) The menu has a wide variety and everything I've had has been delicious. They newly renovated to give more space and provide option for take out, making it convent to grab and go during lunch! The coffee is great and healthy menu options are a great way to start the morning. Or as my niece does every visit, just order off menu to get the perfect chocolate chip banana pancakes (dessert + breakfast in one, lol). I stick to the omelets, which are always great. You can even get zucchini instead of potatoes. Every variety you can think of cooked to your liking and all with the welcoming feeling of a hometown diner. read more

The Westmont diner is a quaint enough spot, a small space in an uncrowded part of town. Myself, my wife, and two kids went in for late lunch on a Friday. We were seated immediately, and our server was with us promptly. While our server did have a hint of "newness" to her, she was very polite and quick to resolve problems. The rest of the staff seemed to be on edge and one waitress was easily overheard complaining about some other patrons. Apparently they had asked too many questions about an item on the menu for the server's taste. Given the small interior of the diner, I'm pretty sure the patrons in question heard her as well. The manager on duty seemed kind of clueless. My wife asked him about a sign on the door regarding dropping off business cards to be advertised on the establishment placemats. He said he didn't know anything about it and simply stared at her as of to say 'your move'. In the end, she asked if he would simply pass her card on to the owner. He said he would. His disposition indicated otherwise. The food was passable. Most Westmont Yelp reviews about talk about breakfast in glowing terms. I have no doubt it is excellent. However lunch was lacking in some aspects. My daughter and I had the gyro. The meat was salty, and was not the thin, evenly shaved lamb and beef I'm used to. Instead it was in chunks, like it hadn't been cooked in rotisserie; the tomatoes were diced, which was weird. The pita was warm, but not heated ask the way through. Also, they forgot the tzatziki sauce with the order, but our waitress brought it out. My son had a BLT with fries on a hoagie bun. The bacon was not quite crisp and again, diced tomatoes. He seemed to enjoy it though, and the fries were good. However for a BLT, I just expect more...especially one over the $9 mark. My wife had the broiled crab cake and zucchini, which she said were both good. However presentation was horrible. The potatoe salad I had with my gyro was good and tasted homade, as did the coleslaw. The salad my daughter got with her gyro was mixed wild greens with carrots, celery and red onion (but no tomatoes), which was better than the standard diner salad of iceberg. Overall the bill for 2 adults and 2 sub-ten year olds was about $60, which is a little high for the quality of food. The service from our waitress was good, but other staff made the visit not so enjoyable, especially near the end when an older waitress started yelling at the cook. The small space made it easy for us to hear what was going on. The manager stood there, not managing. Will likely not be going back, except maybe to try breakfast....once. read more

The place seems to be filled with locals and has a nice vibe in general. There was a large variety of food and the food was served in large portions even when they were about 10 dollars. I was going here (picking up) 2-3 times a week a few months ago. Despite having 3 diners closer to where I live, I went here because they had the best prices. Well, I went to order take out again recently and all of their prices are raised? Double the price on some items actually. So, now there's no incentive to go out of my way to give them business. Let's be honest, diner food is diner food. It's all the same. Taste the same, looks the same, etc. the only advantage westmont diner had over the other diners closer to me were their better prices. The first thing we noticed is that the menus were slightly different. As I saw there were pumpkin pancakes that caught my eye in the Brinner section. In July? I'll take those, please! My friend did not see that on his menu because it wasn't there. Nor were a couple others, like the breakfast burrito and breakfast burger. His menu had mixed berry french toast, that was not on my menu. Hm. I am wondering if there were different dishes anywhere else in that menu. As I order the pancakes our waitress told us that they were only seasonal for the fall, which it did not say on the menu either. Bummer! Luckily, my second choice was the never disappointing eggs benny and I wanted to try a side of healthy hash also, of course without the eggs it comes with. This is the first time I have seen eggs Benedict served with 3 eggs. Nice. Can't go wrong there. The potatoes were thick cut, definitely homemade. Although, I thought they lacked flavor and I didn't think they were cooked enough. Unfortunately, I did not care too much for the healthy hash with sweet potatoes, onions, white beans and kale-which I was hoping to like. My friend had the chicken teriyaki. Going into it he was hoping to have leftovers, but this did not happen because he liked it that much. His meal also came with dessert that he ended up taking home. This is becoming our favorite breakfast place. They have the best breakfast food around hands down. I always order the Corned beef hash with 3 eggs and split a side of home fries with my wife. Two things I would approve on is service and cleanliness. The service is just a little slower than it should be. It takes to long to get a coffee refill and way to long to get the check especially when your just sitting there with an empty coffee cup. The second thing is it needs to be a little cleaner inside. The dust on several surfaces is deep and you can tell hasn't been cleaned in a while. The fans light fixtures and blinds were just piled with dust waiting to fall in your food. Everything else was clean. The food is so good you can excuse the slower service. Despite the dust this is still on the top of the list for favorite diners. read more
