I absolutely love this place. From the staff to the food offered, it's all amazing. Highly recommended for anytime of day.

The Inn's begging for a handy person's touch, but the staff are friendly and the berry crisp heavenly. For a very modest price, we were served an enormous bowl crowned by thick whipped cream over vanilla ice cream on top of the crisp and all over a luscious combination of summer berries. So grateful we were not asked if we wanted the whipped cream, as conscience would have demanded that we decline. The dish is so deep, it comes with ice cream soda spoons and was good to the last lick. When traveling Rte. 22A up to Burlington, take a left at the sign for Benson and find the Wheel Inn about ten minutes away. read more

This used to be my favorite place to go. But things have gone down hill. Don't go thirsty, drink refills are just a myth (not only alcoholic drinks, but water too). And the food was very underwhelming. Our pizza was undercooked, fries were cold.... hoping they pull things back together and get back to the way they were a year ago. read more

Always switch it up, but no matter what I love their food. You get what you pay for that is for sure :) The staff is very friendly and they make sure your not waiting long. Once you order if it's not too busy they usually have your food right out. I know the last two times I was there I waited about 10 minutes for my food. If, for some reason, your in Benson VT, don't worry! There is a place to eat!! The Wheel provides a solid breakfast option, I haven't had their dinner or lunch, but, after trying the breakfast, I will be back next time I'm in that neck of the woods! (no pun intended). Its far from Rutland, but if your staying nearby, a must stop for some delicious omelettes, pancakes, or french toast. Its obviously run by proud Vermonters (because all over the menu it says: REAL VT MAPLE SYRUP). Anyway, I had the Stuffed French Toast, filled with a cream-cheese and maple syrup combo. They had generous portions, as all of my friends (mostly rugby players) couldn't finish their food, myself included. They mostly ordered omelettes or pancakes, but the menu included corned beef hash, waffles, eggs, and they had some other delicious looking options in their specials list. A fabulous local institution. The place is always filled with a wonderful mix of regulars, ATV enthusiasts, snowmobilers, and people traveling through Vermont. The food is excellent and homemade - even the hamburger buns are made fresh! Every meal is quality here, breakfast lunch and dinner. The bar is large and friendly and well stocked. I had read the reviews and had to give the Wheel in Benson a shot. I will start with that the staff is friendly but not overly attentive. The food left much to be desired and is overpriced. The portions are much to large and the quality is poor for the price. My husband ordered the prime rib and it was over cooked and mostly fat and this cost 25.00. I had what was suppose to be a chicken Alfredo but it was so watered down that I was ashamed to pay the 18.00 for it. The bathrooms are dirty and the building itself is run down. The flies were a bit overwhelming and the walls were dirty along with the floor breaking apart. The tables were placed to close that I had to push my table away so I could stand up. I am not a large person. We walked out stating that we would not be returning. We also needed a shower as all we could smell was grease as if the kitchen never cleans the fryer. Always a treat eating at the Wheel Inn. The garlic chicken orzo soup tastes as good as my Sicilian grandmother's....best Hawaiian pizza we've had and our kids are tough food critics. They actually have photographed the desserts to remember how amazing they are. Apple crisp and cheesecake are favorites. You can always count on a hearty, well priced meal and seeing so many locals eating there adds to the experience. read more

Getting into the car and traveling to the Wheel (approx 30 miles) once or twice a week for the past several years speaks of the quality and quantity of the food as well as those who serve,cook, and greet you. This is a charming unpretentious restaurant in a rural area. I have been there a number of times and usually enjoyed it. However, this most recent time the service was abominable. We waited an extraordinarily long time for our food. We finally got our meals but when we finished we waited forever for the empty plates to be cleared. While we were waiting we discussed what dessert we would have. After waiting a very long time we decided to heck with dessert let's go. We waited and waited for the check. The waitress was nowhere to be found. I finally went hunting for her and found her in the bar flirting with a male customer. I hope the owner can make some changes. read more

I've been many times. Excellent HUGE breakfasts from gigundo omelets to eggs benadict and pancakes with local syrup. Dinner portions are great. The daily specials offer superb variety; steaks, chops, fish, chicken..also pub fare. Leave room for dessert or take it home. Homemade pies and puddings. Bar area to eat and drink too. The Wheel Inn catered our wedding for 150+ people. The food (steak, chicken, coleslaw) was all fantastic, none of that bland buffet stuff you usually get at weddings, and we had much more than we needed. They provided coffee, tea and other amenities, and setup/brokedown the equipment quickly and easily.
